https://punchng.com/we-cant-reopen-churches-mosques-now-lagos-ogun-oyo-ekiti/ Churches and mosques in Lagos State may not be reopened to worshippers due to disagreements on protocols and guidelines between the state government and the religious leaders. The Federal Government had on Monday lifted the ban on mosques and churches in the country. But fielding questions from journalists on Tuesday at a ministerial press briefing, the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Elegushi, said the possibility of reopening churches and mosques in the state had been ruled out. Elegushi said, “Even before the pronouncement by the Federal Government, we had been having meetings with the religious leaders; we even had one with the Safety Commission to look at the possibility of reopening religious houses. “We also had one with the leaders of the two faiths and I want to tell you categorically that at that meeting, the possibility of reopening religious houses was ruled out totally. “They claimed that they could not take responsibility for ensuring that only 20 or 50 people we praying behind them. For instance, an Imam said he didn’t know what to go on behind him immediately he begins to lead the prayer. He said if more than 20 or 50 people are staying behind him, he would not take responsibility for their presence. “We all know Lagos is still having high figures. So, definitely that will speak to our decision. But the governor of the state will come out with further directives.” The commissioner said the state Ministry of Home Affairs had started the process of automating the processing of money lending licences. He said the state had received 207 applications out of which approvals were granted for 184. Ekiti churches, mosques remain closed Also, in Ekiti State, places of worship remained shut on Tuesday. The state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Olawale Fapohunda, said a committee set up by the state government would work out modalities for the reopening of the places of worship. He said, “In Ekiti, we still have to look at our own situation and make appropriate decision as it affects us.” The state Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev Fr Peter Olowolafe, expressed delight with the presidential directive on reopening of the places of worship. “Governor Kayode Fayemi said on Sunday that a committee would be set up to work out a protocol, guidelines and modalities to open the places of worship in Ekiti State. So, we are waiting for the directive from the state government,” the CAN chairman said. Ogun to meet religious leaders The Ogun State Government said it would hold a meeting with the leaders of both the Islamic and Christian religions on the modalities to be adopted before announcing the reopening of worship centres. The Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Communications, Remmy Hazzan, on Tuesday said, “What happened is the PTF lifted the presidential ban on religious worship, asking each state to set its own protocol for return to worship centres.” Oyo yet to relax ban The Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force said on Tuesday that it was yet to relax the ban on religious activities and the curfew imposed as a result of the pandemic. Taiwo Adisa, The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde, in a statement said the Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force made the decision following an online meeting. It read in parts, “This is because the task force is awaiting a risk, situation analysis report by a team of experts earlier commissioned to do so. “The report is expected at the end of the week and it is only after the report has been analysed by the task force that it can be in a position to make further clarifications.” |

1. I can say conveniently that there is no money problem at home. Finance is okay. From this you have said, who fiance the home? if she's majorly the one then that's the problem and if not my advise for you is that your marriage is your choice, you decide to marry her even with her flaws, no one is perfect and I'm sure she also will have something to say about you so you cant just because of that divorce! what you can only do is stay away from her, stay away from home for a period of time and by doing that she might get sense but make sure you provide adequately for your family while away! You will thank me later........ |

I think we should be very careful about the usage of these locally made face masks because of what I saw today. I was in a bus where a passenger called a facemask seller. After asking for the price, he took one and put it on. He immediately told the seller that he want to make another choice. He finally paid for one after putting on about 5 different types. I noticed it and told the man the implication of what he has just done and he became so sober. Even other passengers were looking fearful because what I said was true. Now, what if that man has the virus, he has succeeded in affecting those masks without knowing. These infected masks will be bought by other innocent people. It is also possible that is how these facemask hawkers allow buyers to first put it on before they buy. There is a high possibility the virus can be spread easily this way. For those of us who patronize these local hawkers, let's be careful and vigilant. God will protect us all. Alternatively if we must buy from the street vendors, let's ensure we wash and iron the mask b4 use. |

SaharaReporters gathered that instead of availing themselves to treatment and care by the Nigerian Government, some suspected cases of COVID-19 are fleeing because of a lack of sensitisation about the disease in Kano. http://saharareporters.com/2020/04/24/suspected-covid-19-cases-fleeing-authorities-kano As Nigeria conducts more tests to determine the number of people in the population, who have Coronavirus, many in Kano suspected to have been infected with the virus, are fleeing from authorities to escape isolation and treatment. Kano now has 73 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the state. On Thursday, Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of the state, relaxed the lockdown instituted to curb the spread of the virus and allow residents in the state prepare for Ramadan fast. SaharaReporters gathered that instead of availing themselves to treatment and care by the Nigerian Government, some suspected cases of COVID-19 are fleeing because of a lack of sensitisation about the disease in Kano. One case is that of a man in Yankusa Karama under Kombotso Local Government Area of Kano, who has a travel history from Lagos. The man presented symptoms of Coronavirus and was tested. A whistleblower in the community said after the man's result came back positive, he ran from the facility where he was being isolated and scheduled to receive treatment. "He ran away from the hospital and came back home. When he got back, he became very sick and the whole community was afraid. "I reached out to the NCDC and thankfully they came to get him. I'm glad they did because this kind of behaviour is worrying and puts the life of everyone in the community at risk," the source said. Ado Baba, a resident in Ungogo area of the state, said at least two people showing signs of COVID-19 are being shielded by locals. "I know of two cases like that in Ungogo, one of them, his family said they were serving him local medicine. "Most of my people don't believe Coronavirus is real. They think it's a way the governor wants to use and make money," he said. He called on government to urgently carry out sensitisation to enable the local population stop suspected and confirmed cases of COVID-19 from spreading the virus to their communities which he said would be a "disaster". |

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission has called on Nigerians to report corrupt practices in the Federal Government’s conditional transfer of N20,000 to citizens as part of efforts to reduce the effect of the coronavirus lockdown. The anti-graft agency made this call on Tuesday. The PUNCH reports that the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq, had flagged-off the conditional cash transfer and supply of relief food materials for the poor and vulnerable, noting that the palliatives have been distributed in some states across the country. However, the ICPC called on Nigerians on Tuesday to report supposed breaches in the payment and distribution of the intervention palliatives, adding that such cases would be investigated and prosecuted. It said, “ICPC calls on the general public to report any form of corrupt practices in the on-going distribution of palliatives for the COVID 19, especially the conditional cash transfers. “Note that the National Social Investment Programme and Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management and Social Development have not authorised any form of deductions in the conditional cash transfer. “Alleged infractions in the implementation of the COVID-19 intervention will be investigated and prosecuted where necessary. “Report all corrupt acts to ICPC on this Toll -free line: 0800 – 2255 – 4272 or email ” According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, over 600 cases of the novel virus have been reported in Nigeria while over 20 deaths have been recorded also. diehard:nawa ooooo, what car was car plss |
I have an Honda Civic 2005 manual transmission. I have not any problem with it until recently, while driving and after few miles, the car abruptly loses power and stops. All efforts to restart immediately always prove abortive. The first time this issue occurred, I called a road side mechanic, he couldn't get it done and after some minutes it start all by itself. Few days after i drove about a couple of block and when I have to slow down or stop, the car stops running again. It may do this 1 or 2 times until I get to my destination. I will just leave the car sits for like 10 to 15 minutes sometimes hours and then it will start again. This may not occur again for days but then all of a sudden, the same thing happens. No engine lights come on and both my mechanic and rewire said they cannot replicate the problem and cannot figure out what is wrong as the battery, ignition, kick, alternator, few pump and nuzzle have all been diagnosed and are all good. I am now frustrated after this occurring the 5th time and cannot be diagnosed, please help! |
