idnoble135: In the light of the scriptures i posted above, we'd understand God's mind on this issue. I heard one of the islamic clerics declaring the meat used in the celebration as a sacrifice. Personally, I'm aware of some recitations being said on the meat. This is obviously why a lot of christians do not want to eat it. This issue is a trickish one. Because you see, eating the meat can be a sin and at the same time, not a sin. Eating of the meat itself is not the sin but the mindset of the person that eats it. In Romans 14:23 we are told that whatever is not of faith is sin. Therefore, the issue is not a meat issue but a faith issue. If the believers faith is not in line with it, it becomes a sin. God wants us places a high value on our faith, and He wants it to be the basis of our existence. Remember scripture earlier said that the just shall live by faith. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith Rom 1:17 In other words, faith is beyond just an act, it is a lifestyle... Any atom of doubt is contrary to the faith life and hence it's a sin. Paul then makes it clear to us that knowledge is paramount here. However, there is not in everyone that knowledge1 cor 8:7 . What knowledge? Not knowledge based on sentiments or hearsay but based on revelation from the word. What revelation? Jump back to verse four of the same chapter. Therefore concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one. You see it? It is based on what we understand. God relates with us based on our faith. Remember this familiar words? Be it unto you according to your faith. So the bottom line here is, two people can have different views and none will be judged guilty. The caution in Paul's letter is, should any of the brethren who is weak in faith be around us, whose faith does not yet accept this, then we should do away with such foods or meat rather than destroy his faith. And that we should not scold anyone whose faith does not tolerate the eating. For those whose faith based on knowledge can accept it, what needs to be done with such foods? Here is the answer; For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. 1 Tim 4:4-5. Thanks that's what I needed. |

Reyginus: That's a good one. More like celebrating the annivasary of an organization diametrically opposed to yours. That would be delusional. This debate got happened in my school, we had to have only Good news bibles, attend morning devotions daily, attend wednesday services after school and go to our school church every sunday or you will be flogged or expelled, we had catholics and muslims pulling out in the middle of the year due to the christian rules. Why go to a missionary school if you know you don't agree with their constitution |

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Don't Missionary Schools Observe Muslim Public Holidays? by HumbledbYGrace(f): 12:00pm On Oct 15, 2013 |
Reyginus: Lol. Dude, I think you are missing something. Public holidays are only binding to Government institutions. Bodies that report directly to the government. Since missionary schools are not government owned, nor driven, you don't expect them to be under any instruction made for government-owned institutions. You may as well ask why market business people don't go on public holidays. True, and the missionaries on today's matter might not see a need to celebrate this day, they are Christians not Muslims. |
