The Uyo Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mine and Agriculture, has proposed to build and complete a trade fair village for manufacturers in Akwa Ibom State. The President, Mr Nseyen Ebong, said this during the inaugural meeting on the formation of youths and women wing of the group in Uyo, the state capital. He said the trade fair village would avail entrepreneurs the opportunity to increase product sales, market both old and new products, meet and interact with customers and attract local and foreign investors. According to him, the organisation had already produced young and talented manufacturers who are breaking new grounds adding that there was the need to build an environment where their products would be constantly showcased and received good patronage. He expressed the hope that the narrative of women and youths who had been used as praise singers to politicians at political rallies, would be changed as the UYOCCIMA intends to register one thousand five hundred new businesses before 2021 and also create over two million jobs before 2025. Ebong said the anticipated businesses would be targeted at women and youths to turn them into drivers of industries and change the state from civil service-oriented domain to industrialized society. Ebong said, “We want to change the narrative of our women and youths being used as praise singers to politicians at political rallies without any gain at the end of the day, as we hope to register one thousand five hundred new businesses before 2021 and also create over two million direct and indirect jobs before 2025. “As an organised private sector, we hope to diversify to businesses so that jobs can be created for the people, especially youths and women. “We have mentorship programmes to encourage, advice and help the young entrepreneurs attain better height. We also have financial support to advance individual businesses.” Speaking on the expertise of the members, he said the chamber ” parades a repertoire of experienced and capable hands who are set to ensure that the indigenes of the state benefit economically from various training programmes through training and seminars that will be organised regularly at a minimal fee or free.” https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/uyo-chamber-of-commerce-to-build-trade-fair-village/%3famp=1 https://www.blueprint.ng/chamber-of-commerce-to-build-trade-fair-village-for-manufacturers-in-a-ibom/ Mynd44... |
Four Doctors Kidnapped In C'River In 11 Months - NMA 0 The Nigerian Medical Association, Cross River State chapter, says four doctors were kidnapped at various times in the state this year. The state chairman of NMA, Dr. Innocent Abang, disclosed this during an exclusive interview with journalists on Friday. He also demanded the safe release of their colleague, Dr. Godwin Udo, of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital who was kidnapped in the state recently. Abang had, on Wednesday, announced that doctors in the state had commenced an indefinite strike pending the unconditional release of their colleague. Speaking with our correspondent on the development, he said, "The indefinite strike is a moral issue. We don't have that kind of mind to continue working when a doctor is off and it could be anybody because this is one doctor too many. "It is not like a random thing, it is well orchestrated by these people. So, we feel that if we can be treating the public and people have the mind to kidnap doctors, then our services are not important to them. "If the doctor is working and not psychologically balanced, then the patient he is treating is also at risk. "So, it is better we get out of it. We are not in the best frame of mind to attend to any patient. That is why we decided to down tools until we are in the best frame of mind. When we have our friend and colleague released, then we can work. Decrying the incessant kidnapping of their members, the NMA chairman said, "This is the fourth doctor that have been kidnapped this year. It is terrible. We don't know why they have set their eyes on the doctors. "In September, we had our member kidnapped also. Prior to that, we had two doctors who were kidnapped. It has been on and off. We also had doctors' dependents who were kidnapped. He said the association had decided that anytime a medical doctor or his/her dependent is kidnapped, members would embark on an indefinite strike until the release of the victim. Abang said the association had laid complaints before the state governor and the lawmakers about the incessant kidnapping of their members. He, however, expressed optimism that Dr. Udo would be released soon. Lalasticlala.. |
