yeah Internet is necessary , but if u get all the applications tht u think u need downloaded and ur system updated (one day is enought ), then its no different frm windows without internet

@ Fisayo  from what i have heard suse is a awesome Linux experience especially its implementation of  KDE .  But the thing that hold me back from giving it a try it is their questionable relationship with MS ,   but that is just me and i know my reasons are based on sentiments. but if suse works for u then stick to it ,  it is a good distro .

BTW sumtin happened to me yesterday ,  i installed KDE 4.1 and i was stunted by what i saw,  guy i can say much if u use ubuntu add deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-members-kde4/ubuntu hardy main    to your source list ,  and sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install kubuntu-kde4-desktop  ,  mehn kde4.1 with plasma is the future ,

i hav a problem ,
when i turned my laptop on which has fedora 9 and xp , it went to grub page (not he menu where i hav to select between xp and fedora )
its like his

grub>

how do i install anything in ubuntu , ther eis no .exe file , so that i can click and install it ,

the file is beryl.zip,
i extracted it n now there are 4 files 1) beryl-core-0.2.1.tar.bz2 2) beryl-core-0.2.1.tar.gz

3) beryl-manager-0.2.1.tar.bz2 4) beryl-manager-0.2.1.tar.gz

i just cant figure out the head or tail of how to install it ,

i hav downloaded mac4lin , its the same , many files , n i donno how to istall it ,

i hav a problem here ,

i hav 250 gb harddisk ,

in the c: drive (150 gb ) i hav windows vista ,
int he d: drive (80 gb) i installed ununtu ,

now the 150 gb in the c: drive is not enough for me ,
i want to remove 60 gb from the UBUNTU partition and use it for windows , and leave 20 gb for UBUNTu ,

can u plzz help , i really need the space ,
