Captain Buratai Joins Borno Assembly Race, Sparks Youth Mobilisation in Biu

Pilot Muhammad Tukur Buratai (MTTB), son of former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Yusuf Buratai, has intensified political activities in Borno State after purchasing the nomination form of the All Progressives Congress to contest for a seat in the Borno State House of Assembly.

The young aviator is seeking to represent Biu Constituency, a move many political observers describe as a bold transition from professional service into active grassroots politics.

Supporters of the aspirant insist his emergence represents a blend of youthfulness, exposure and leadership capacity needed in the state legislature at a time when demands for greater youth representation in governance continue to gain momentum across the country.

Unlike conventional political entrants, allies of captain Buratai argue that his aviation background has equipped him with discipline, technical knowledge, calm decision-making and strategic coordination skills considered valuable in public leadership.

Political watchers within Biu also believe his candidacy could energise younger voters and strengthen grassroots participation within the APC ahead of the party primaries.

His growing acceptance, according to supporters, is also linked to his accessibility, community engagement and understanding of the developmental concerns facing youths and rural communities within the constituency.

The aspirant recently met with his father to seek his blessing ahead of the political contest, a development seen by many as a symbolic endorsement of his ambition and readiness for public service.

Stakeholders within the constituency say his entry into the race has already altered political calculations in the area, with consultations and mobilisation intensifying across several wards.

Supporters further maintain that beyond family name recognition, the young aspirant possesses the educational exposure, leadership orientation and communication skills required to effectively represent the interests of the people at the legislative level.

As political activities gather momentum ahead of the elections, many within Biu believe his emergence could usher in a new generation of leadership focused on youth empowerment, education, economic opportunities and community development.

CityBoy Movement Denounces ‘False Blasphemy Claim’ Against Seyi Tinubu

The CityBoy Movement has dismissed as false and malicious a viral social media post alleging that its patron, Seyi Tinubu, made blasphemous remarks concerning God and the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement issued on Monday by the group’s Deputy Director-General for Communication and Public Affairs, O’tega Ogra, the movement described the publication as “deliberately inflammatory” and aimed at creating religious tension in the country.

The group said the statement, allegedly authored by one “Albaabu Abudulahi,” falsely attributed comments to Tinubu which he never made “at any time, in any place, through any channel, or under any circumstance whatsoever.”

According to the statement, the allegation was “entirely false, malicious in intent, reckless in circulation and dangerous in consequence.”

The movement maintained that Seyi Tinubu is a man of faith who believes that all authority comes from God alone and would never insult or diminish the supremacy of God or Allah.

“He has never insulted, mocked, questioned or diminished the supremacy of Almighty God or Allah, and will never do so,” the statement read.
The group further accused unnamed individuals of attempting to damage Tinubu’s image and provoke unnecessary religious controversy ahead of the 2027 general elections.

While reaffirming Tinubu’s support for the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, the CityBoy Movement stressed that all political ambitions and public service efforts remain subject to “the will and guidance of Almighty God.”

The organisation urged Nigerians to disregard the circulating claims, describing them as a calculated attempt to mislead the public and sow division along religious lines.

It also called on media organisations, digital publishers and social media users to verify information before sharing materials capable of threatening national unity and peaceful coexistence.

The statement reiterated the movement’s commitment to democratic engagement, responsible public conduct and respect for all faiths.

Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ Agenda: General Buratai Remains Loyal, Rebuffs Misinformation – Engr Hassan

Supporters of former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Yusuf Buratai, have dismissed claims circulating on social media alleging that the retired army general is working against the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement issued on Friday by Engr. Hassan Mohammed, Sarkin Yakin Garkuwan Keffi, the former Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Benin was described as a committed statesman who remains loyal to constituted authority and dedicated to Nigeria’s unity and stability.

The statement noted that Buratai, who served as Chief of Army Staff and later as ambassador, had throughout his career demonstrated discipline, professionalism and respect for constitutional authority.
According to Mohammed, the retired lieutenant general has consistently expressed support for the Tinubu administration and its Renewed Hope agenda, particularly in the areas of national security, youth empowerment and national cohesion.

He said, “Gen. Buratai remains a committed Nigerian statesman who has always placed national interest above personal politics.”
The statement further described reports linking Buratai to alleged anti-government activities as “baseless, politically motivated and aimed at creating unnecessary division.”

Mohammed urged Nigerians to disregard what he called attempts at blackmail and misinformation, insisting that Buratai’s public record and engagements reflect his continued support for the current administration.

“His actions and public record speak louder than online rumours,” the statement added.
The supporters also called on the public to remain focused on issues that promote national development and unity rather than social media speculation.

"A Heritage Under Siege": Thousands of Unity School Alumni Protest in Lagos, Abuja and Kano over Controversial FGC KANO Land Swap i

Over 2,000 alumni of Nigeria's Federal Government Colleges (Unity Schools) took to the streets across three cities on Saturday, May 9, in a coordinated protest against a contentious land concession deal that critics say amounts to the "commercialisation of a national legacy" .

The nationwide awareness walk, organised under the auspices of the Unity Schools Old Students Association (USOSA) and branded with the rallying call "Pro Unitate – Better Together," targeted a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement at Federal Government College (FGC) Kano . Under the deal, approved by the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), Pluck Global Construction Company would invest approximately N8.5 billion in infrastructure upgrades in exchange for roughly 30 to 33 hectares of the school's land—a plot alumni estimate to be worth over N36 billion .

The protest followed a breakdown in talks with the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, earlier this week. Multiple online reports had detailed a meeting where USOSA and FGC KANO leaders formally offered to match the developer's proposal funding the N8.5 billion project without ceding a single inch of land a proposition the Ministry reportedly declined to accept .

"We are not enemies of development, but this development must not choke the school," said Humphrey Nwafor, National Chapter President of USOSA in Lagos, addressing a crowd of placard-wielding alumni. "If the government says it does not have enough money to run the schools, the old students can provide support without taking one inch of land" .

This weekend's rallies are the latest escalation in a dispute that has been brewing since at least April 2026. As previously reported by the media, the controversy erupted publicly when the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Said Ahmad, laid the foundation for the project, describing it as part of the Tinubu administration's "Renewed Hope" agenda .

At the time, the minister argued that the government "cannot spend over N8bn at once in just one school when we have over 100 federal government colleges" . However, alumni quickly mobilised opposition, with FGC Kano Old Students Association (FGCKOSA) President Shoyinka Shodunke describing the move as a destruction of a national educational legacy .

"Our unity schools were established as symbols of excellence, integration, and nation-building," Shodunke had stated in an April 6 press release . "Any action that diminishes their integrity reflects a troubling disregard for education as a driver of national progress."

During Saturday's protest, which drew representatives from over 40 Unity Schools, speakers emphasised that the fight extends far beyond Kano.

"We have representatives from Federal Government College Ido Ani, Federal Government College Odogbolu, Okigwe, Port Harcourt, Ikot Ekpene, Bakori, Gboko, Ugwalowo, Sokoto, Warri, Kings and Queens College Lagos and 47 others standing here today," Nwafor told the crowd. "This is a united front."

One of the Speakers Mr Alex President FGC Ido Ani old states, noted that the present set of students represent the 11th generation of Nigerians who would lose critical recreational space if the deal proceeds.

"The land identified for this project is meant for learning, not for a residential or commercial estate," Shodunke had previously warned journalists, citing security risks associated with introducing a mixed-use development adjacent to a secondary school .

Pluck Global Construction Company has vigorously defended the arrangement. In statements released following initial alumni protests in early April, Managing Director Musaddiq Ado Bala Talle insisted the agreement followed due regulatory process and was designed to enhance not undermine the school's legacy .

Talle clarified that his firm would invest over N8 billion in new facilities, including a skills acquisition centre, staff quarters, a modern female hostel, a health centre, a sports complex, and comprehensive renovations of 54 classrooms, laboratories, and hostels . Under the terms, the company would receive 40 per cent of the "underutilised" portion of land as return on investment—but only upon completion of the 36-month project .

"The project will create a safer, more conducive learning environment and help secure the school's future," Talle had said .

But alumni remain unmoved. Pointing to a petition that has now gathered over 4,000 signatures addressed to President Bola Tinubu, USOSA leaders demanded an immediate and unconditional cancellation of the agreement .

"These signatures represent the collective voice of thousands of Nigerians who believe that our Unity Schools are not bargaining chips," Shodunke had stated after the petition crossed its signature threshold . "We have invested our hearts, our resources, and our futures into these institutions. To see even an inch of our land swapped without our consent is an affront to everything we stand for."

As of press time, the Ministry of Education had not issued an official response to the rallies. However, a senior official speaking on condition of anonymity maintained that "no concrete structure will be built on the students' play fields"—an assurance USOSA leaders dismissed as "semantic trickery."

The alumni have vowed to escalate their campaign to the National Assembly and the Presidency.

Viral Hantavirus Reports Spark Fresh Anxiety as Prophet Aitafo’s 2025 Warning Resurfaces

Kingsley Aitafo’s widely shared prophecy about a coming “deadly disease” has resurfaced online amid growing concern over reports of a new Hantavirus outbreak in parts of Europe, particularly France.

In a viral video from his “2025 Prophecy” message, the cleric warned of a disease outbreak he described as potentially “more brutal than COVID-19,” urging followers to engage in fervent prayers against a looming global health emergency.

“We should pray against a deadly disease that is more brutal than COVID-19. It is coming on the earth. I cannot specify when, but we should pray against it,” the prophet declared in the footage.

The resurfaced prophecy has triggered intense debate across social media platforms, with many followers drawing parallels between the warning and recent international reports surrounding Hantavirus infections.

Rising Concern Over Hantavirus

Hantavirus is a rare but potentially severe viral infection commonly transmitted through exposure to infected rodent urine, droppings, or saliva. Some strains can lead to serious respiratory complications or hemorrhagic fever.

Although health authorities have not declared a global emergency, reports of increasing infections have heightened public concern, especially given lingering memories of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Medical experts continue to caution against panic, stressing that surveillance systems and international response mechanisms are now far more prepared than they were during the early stages of COVID-19.

Health Precautions Advised

Health authorities and medical professionals recommend the following precautionary measures:

Avoid contact with rodents, their droppings, urine, or nesting areas.

Properly disinfect potentially contaminated environments.

Maintain strict hygiene practices.

Seek urgent medical care if symptoms such as sudden fever, muscle pain, fatigue, or breathing difficulties develop.

As of press time, Nigerian authorities have not issued any formal travel advisory linked to the reported outbreak in Europe, though monitoring measures at international entry points are believed to have been strengthened.
Business*from Visa Bans To Value Chains: Why Europe Must Structure Sovereign Mobility Fo by Hunter2009(op): 4:16pm On May 08
*From Visa Bans to Value Chains: Why Europe must structure sovereign mobility for growth*

By Babatunde Aduloju

The recent visa restrictions introduced by the United Kingdom government on nationals connected to Saint Lucia’s Citizenship by Investment (CBI) program have triggered an important policy moment, not just for the UK, but for the broader European Union.

At first glance, this may appear to be a routine tightening of immigration controls. It signals something deeper: a growing discomfort within Europe about how to manage the intersection of global mobility, private capital, and economic sovereignty.

But the current response, restrictions, fragmentation, and reactive regulation, misses the bigger opportunity.

Global mobility is no longer just about movement. It is about capital, consumption, and economic influence.

And right now, Europe is under-leveraging one of the most powerful drivers of modern economic growth: the Sovereign Mobility Investor.

*The Economic Reality Europe Cannot Ignore*

Globally mobile investors are not passive travelers. They are active economic participants who inject capital across multiple sectors simultaneously.

To understand the scale:

• Global tourism receipts reached approximately $1.5 trillion annually, with Europe capturing nearly 50% of international tourist arrivals.

• High-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) account for a disproportionate share of premium travel and luxury consumption, often spending 5–10x more per trip than average travelers.

• The global luxury tourism and hospitality market is projected to exceed $1 trillion in the next decade, driven significantly by cross-border wealth mobility.

• International real estate investment linked to mobility programs contributes hundreds of billions of euros annually, particularly in gateway cities and emerging tourism destinations.

But these figures only scratch the surface.

A single Sovereign Mobility Investor family typically contributes across five interconnected economic layers:

-. Travel & Aviation

• First- and business-class international flights
• Private aviation and charter services
• Frequent cross-border movement generating recurring airline revenues

-. Hospitality & Tourism

• Luxury hotels, extended stays, branded residences
• High-value tourism experiences (medical tourism, cultural tourism, leisure travel)
• Destination spending across restaurants, entertainment, and services

-. Real Estate & Infrastructure

• Acquisition of residential and commercial property
• Participation in resort and mixed-use developments
• Investment in urban regeneration and tourism infrastructure

-. Financial Services & Capital Markets

• Banking relationships across jurisdictions
• Portfolio diversification into European assets
• Participation in private equity, venture capital, and structured investment vehicles

-. Lifestyle & Consumption Economies

• Luxury retail (fashion, automotive, art, jewelry)
• Education (private schools, universities)
• Healthcare systems (private care, specialized treatment)
This is not migration. This is an integrated economic ecosystem.

*The Rise of the Sovereign Mobility Investor*

Over the last decade, a structural shift has taken place.

High-net-worth individuals from Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, particularly from countries like Nigeria, India, South Africa, and Lebanon, have increasingly turned to second citizenship and residency programs as tools for:

• global market access,
• risk diversification,
• family security,
• business scalability,
• and participation in international economies.

In Africa alone, outbound investment migration has grown significantly, with Nigerians consistently ranking among the top participants in global mobility programs.

Contrary to outdated narratives, these individuals are not fleeing instability, they are strategically positioning themselves within global value chains.

They are:
• founding companies in multiple jurisdictions,
• investing in global startups,
• participating in cross-border trade,
• and contributing to international tax and consumption systems.

They are, in effect, informal ambassadors of transnational economic integration.

*Europe’s Policy Challenge: Fragmentation vs. Strategy*

Despite benefiting from global capital flows, Europe’s approach to sovereign mobility remains inconsistent.

Across the European Union:

• Some countries have scaled back or eliminated investor visa programs (e.g., golden visa reforms).
• Others maintain independent frameworks with varying standards.
• Regulatory bodies emphasize risk, compliance, and reputational concerns, often without unified economic strategy.

The result is a fragmented system that:
• discourages high-quality investors,
• creates policy uncertainty,
• and weakens Europe’s global competitiveness relative to regions like the Middle East and Asia, where mobility-linked investment is aggressively structured and incentivized.

The UK’s decision regarding Saint Lucia reflects this tension: a necessary concern for oversight, but an incomplete solution for economic engagement.

*The Strategic Opportunity: A Tiered Sovereign Mobility Framework*

Europe has an opportunity to lead, not by restricting mobility, but by structuring it.
At HOC Capital Club, we propose a Three-Tier Sovereign Mobility Engagement Framework:

Tier 1: Compliance, Governance & Trust Infrastructure

Establish a unified European baseline for mobility-linked engagement:
• Cross-border AML and KYC integration
• Shared intelligence platforms between EU and partner jurisdictions
• Standardized due diligence for CBI and residency-linked investors
• Digital identity verification systems
• Policy alignment between immigration, finance, and security agencies
Objective: Remove opacity and build trust.

Tier 2: Economic Participation & Sector Alignment

Link mobility access directly to economic contribution:
• Minimum investment thresholds tied to priority sectors
• Structured investment pathways in:
o tourism and hospitality,
o green energy,
o healthcare infrastructure,
o digital economy and fintech,
o logistics and supply chain ecosystems
• Regional development incentives for underinvested EU zones
Objective: Convert mobility into measurable economic output.

Tier 3: Strategic Sovereign Mobility Partnerships

Integrate investors into Europe’s long-term economic vision:
• Co-investment platforms with governments and development banks
• Public-private partnerships for infrastructure and tourism
• Innovation ecosystem participation (tech hubs, venture ecosystems)
• Policy dialogue platforms connecting investors and regulators
Objective: Transform investors into long-term economic partners.

*The Financial Multiplier Effect*

What Europe must recognize is the compounding nature of sovereign mobility capital.
A €2 million investment does not remain €2 million.

It triggers:
• construction jobs,
• tourism revenue,
• local business growth,
• tax contributions,
• secondary investments,
• and long-term economic activity.

For example:
• A luxury resort backed by mobility-linked capital can generate tens of millions annually in tourism revenue.
• A single high-net-worth investor relocating partially to Europe can contribute €200,000–€500,000 annually in direct consumption.
• Portfolio investments in startups and SMEs can unlock innovation-driven growth across sectors.

When aggregated across thousands of investors, the impact becomes systemic.

*Why Europe Is at Risk of Losing This Opportunity*

Other regions are moving faster.
• The Middle East is aggressively positioning itself as a hub for global mobility capital.
• Asia is integrating investment migration with innovative ecosystems.
• Caribbean nations continue to refine their CBI frameworks as economic tools.

If Europe continues to approach sovereign mobility primarily through restriction:
• capital will be redirected,
• investors will seek alternative jurisdictions,
• and Europe’s influence over global mobility standards will decline.

*The Role of HOC Capital Club*

This is where HOC Capital Club becomes critical.

We are building a platform that connects:

• policymakers,
• sovereign mobility investors,
• institutional capital,
• and global economic ecosystems.

Through our Sovereign Mobility Investor Program, we provide:

• structured investor engagement frameworks,
• policy advisory for governments and institutions,
• curated investment pipelines aligned with national priorities,
• and governance-driven platforms for cross-border collaboration.
We position sovereign mobility not as a loophole, but as a lever for structured economic growth.

*A Call to Action for Europe*

The decision by the United Kingdom government on Saint Lucia should not end the conversation.

It should begin a new one.

Europe must decide:

Will it remain reactive, closing doors and managing risk?

Or will it lead, designing the frameworks that define the future of global mobility?

Because the reality is clear:

• Capital is mobile.
• Talent is mobile.
• Opportunity is mobile.

The regions that succeed will not be those that stop movement.

They will be those that structure it, govern it, and align it with growth.

*Conclusion: Building Economies Without Borders*

Sovereign mobility is not a threat to Europe.

It is an opportunity, if properly structured.

The future global economy will not be defined by static borders, but by connected systems of capital, policy, and people.

Europe has the regulatory strength, institutional depth, and economic scale to lead this transformation.

But leadership requires a shift in mindset:

-From restriction to strategy.
-From fragmentation to coordination.
-From control to structured collaboration.

At HOC Capital Club, we stand ready to partner with Europe in building that future.

Because the next era of global growth will not be built within borders.

It will be built across them.

AWARENESS WALK LOOMS AS CONCERNED FGC ALUMNI REFUSE TO BACK, VOWS TO CONTINUE PEACE WALK AND LAWSUIT DESPITE MINISTER'S APPEAL

A protracted meeting between the Federal Ministry of Education and old students' associations ended in a stalemate on Thursday, as the President of the FGC Kano Old Students Association (FGCKOSA) flatly rejected the Minister's plea to suspend planned protests and legal action over a controversial land concession deal.

The high-tension session, which lasted over four hours on May 7, 2026, brought together the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Morufu Olatunji Alausa, the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, and the leadership of the Unity Schools Old Students Association (USOSA) alongside FGCKOSA.

While the Ministry sought to de-escalate the growing crisis, the alumni dug in their heels, insisting that the proposed land swap and concession arrangement at Federal Government College Kano represents an existential threat to the institution.

"We Will Not Be Silenced" – FGCKOSA President

In a dramatic turn during the meeting, the National President of FGCKOSA, Shoyinka Shodunke, told the Ministers in clear terms that the association’s planned awareness rally for May 9, 2026, would proceed as scheduled. He also confirmed that the legal action already filed by the alumni would not be withdrawn.

"The process has excluded us from the beginning. We have lost confidence in this concession plan," Shodunke stated. "The awareness rally will hold, and our litigation continues. We are matching the commercial enterprise's proposal dollar-for-dollar to preserve our land, but we will not be intimidated into silence."

Shodunke formally reiterated the alumni's offer to match the reported infrastructure proposal from the commercial bidder, insisting that school land must be preserved for future generations of students.

USOSA Demands Suspension, Backs Kano Alumni

USOSA, led by President General Michael Magaji, backed FGCKOSA's hardline position, raising strong concerns over the commercialization of Unity School assets, lack of stakeholder consultation, and threats to the legacy and security of the schools.

USOSA demanded the immediate and unconditional suspension of the concession plan, emphasizing that alumni associations have independently delivered projects worth hundreds of millions of naira across Unity Schools without selling off an inch of school land.

Minister Acknowledges Concerns but Appeals for Calm

In response, Dr. Alausa acknowledged the developmental role USOSA has played in bridging infrastructure gaps caused by low funding over the past 20 years. He thanked the alumni for their contributions but maintained his support for the concession as part of the Ministry's infrastructure renewal strategy.

The Minister appealed directly to FGCKOSA to call off the May 9 rally and withdraw the lawsuit, warning that confrontation could harm the very institutions the alumni seek to protect. He promised to work with USOSA on future Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiatives, starting with Kings College, Lagos, where alumni have expressed interest in taking over management. That proposal is expected to be submitted to the Federal Executive Council in the coming weeks.

The Minister also handed USOSA a copy of the Ministry's PPP guidelines, inviting them to develop a value proposition for PPP opportunities across Unity Schools nationwide.

No Resolution in Sight

Despite the Minister's outreach, the meeting ended inconclusively, with both sides unwilling to yield on the core issue of FGC Kano's land. USOSA and FGCKOSA have pledged to continue constructive engagement with the Ministry in principle, but with the rally and legal action still firmly on the table, tensions remain dangerously high.

As the May 9 deadline approaches, all eyes are now on Kano to see whether the government will act to stop the rally or allow the dispute to spill into the streets and the courts.

Buratai Celebrates Ex-Internal Affairs Minister, General Magoro, At 85

Former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Yusufu Buratai, has paid glowing tribute to retired Major General Muhammadu Magoro on the occasion of his 85th birthday, describing him as “a national hero and a general par excellence.”

In a congratulatory message issued on Thursday, Buratai hailed Magoro’s decades of service to Nigeria, noting that his military and political careers remained a model of patriotism, discipline, and leadership.
Magoro, who holds the traditional title of Mutawallen of Kebbi Kingdom, served as a commander during the Nigerian Civil War, later becoming Minister of Internal Affairs and a senator during the Second Republic.

Buratai said the retired general’s contributions to national development and security had earned him recognition both within and outside Nigeria.

He also acknowledged Magoro’s role in mentoring younger military officers, including himself, stressing that the elder statesman’s guidance and professional conduct had inspired generations of military leaders.

The former army chief recalled recently reconnecting with Magoro during the 25th anniversary celebration of the Arewa Consultative Forum in Kaduna, describing the meeting as symbolic of the enduring bond among those who had served the nation selflessly.

“As you mark this 85th birthday, I pray that Almighty Allah continues to bless you with good health, peace of mind, and many more fruitful years,” Buratai stated.

He further noted that Magoro’s legacy would continue to inspire future leaders across military and civilian institutions in the country.

Buratai concluded the message by wishing the elder statesman a memorable celebration, declaring that “Nigeria salutes” him for his sacrifices and enduring service to the nation.

Buratai’s Loyalty to APC and the Failure of a Viral Smear Campaign

By Femi Oyewale

The recent attempt to portray former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (retd.), as a critic of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and an admirer of the opposition coalition may have exposed more than just another fake news operation, it has exposed the contradictions embedded within modern political propaganda.

The viral publication, circulated by an obscure online platform, alleged that Buratai declared that President Tinubu had “failed to meet expectations” while commending the opposition coalition. Yet the report failed to provide the most basic ingredients of credible journalism: where the statement was made, when it was made, and who witnessed it.

Buratai’s swift denial was unsurprising. What is more striking, however, is the glaring irony surrounding the entire smear campaign.
At a time when the former army chief is visibly and actively participating in activities of the ruling All Progressives Congress, critics attempted to paint him as an anti-government figure. Only recently, Buratai reportedly served as a member of the security committee during the APC National Convention , hardly the role of a man allegedly plotting politically against his own party.

Even more revealing is the political aspiration of his son, Tukur Buratai Tukur, who is currently pursuing a seat in the Borno State House of Assembly to represent Biu Constituency under the banner of the APC.
Campaign posters promoting the younger Buratai’s ambition are already in circulation, carrying APC insignia and messages centered on “effective representation and quality service.” Recent public appearances equally showed the elder Buratai openly endorsing and supporting the aspiration.

This raises an obvious question: Why would a man allegedly opposed to the APC government simultaneously participate in APC national structures while backing his son’s political future within the same party?
The contradiction weakens the credibility of the viral publication and reinforces suspicions that the report was politically motivated.

In today’s digital political climate, fake news has become a weapon designed not merely to misinform, but to manufacture confusion, trigger division, and manipulate public perception. Public figures, especially those with national visibility and influence, increasingly find themselves targeted by coordinated misinformation campaigns.
Buratai’s response reflected not only personal outrage but also concern over the broader implications of unchecked falsehoods in Nigeria’s political space.

Reaffirming his loyalty to the APC and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the retired general maintained that his allegiance to constituted authority remains intact after over four decades in military service.

Whether one agrees with Buratai politically or not, the episode serves as another reminder of how easily fabricated narratives can spread in an era where sensational headlines often travel faster than verified facts.

And perhaps that is the greatest irony of all: while the authors of the smear campaign sought to create doubts about Buratai’s loyalty, the facts surrounding his recent political activities appear to tell an entirely different story.

Buratai Reaffirms APC Loyalty, Discredits Anti-Tinubu Claim

ABUJA — Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (retd.), has dismissed as false and malicious a viral publication alleging that he commended an opposition coalition and criticized the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The report, which circulated on social media and was attributed to an online platform identified as “Phoenix,” claimed that Buratai said the President had failed to meet expectations.

But in a strongly worded disclaimer issued on Wednesday, the retired general described the report as “completely fabricated” and challenged the publishers to provide evidence of where and when he allegedly made the statement.

“At no time did I make such comments. The publication is false, baseless, and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public,” Buratai said.

He noted that the report failed to indicate any verifiable source, venue, or timeline for the purported remarks, insisting that no such comments were ever made.

Reaffirming his political stance, Buratai said he remained a loyal and card-carrying member of the All Progressives Congress, pledging continued support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration.

The former army chief also stressed that his loyalty to constituted authority, which he said defined his over 40 years of military service, remained intact even in retirement.

“I will continue to support constituted authority under President Tinubu, especially as the military intensifies efforts to address security challenges across the country,” he stated.

Buratai further accused the publishers of being “serial peddlers of falsehood,” alleging that similar attempts had been made in the past to tarnish his image.

He urged Nigerians to disregard the report, describing it as a product of misinformation and ill intent.

The controversial publication has since sparked reactions online, with many calling for stricter measures against the spread of fake news.

inside a Growing Revolt Over Nigerias Unity Schools: Why Humphrey Nwafor Is Marching

By : Murphy Ajibade Alabi

On Saturday, May 9, 2026, the usually fluid rhythm of Lagos, Abuja and Kano will make room for something more deliberate: an awareness walk and rally led by alumni of Nigerians famed Unity Schools. One of those alumni is Humphrey Nwafor, President of the Lagos Chapter of the Federal Government College Kano Old Students Association (FGCKOSA), a man whose calm delivery masks a deeply structured critique of government policy.

When we met, Nwafor was neither incendiary nor sentimental. He was precise almost surgical in how he framed the issue.

This is not a protest against reform, he began. It is a protest against how reform is being executed.

The Fault Line: Reform vs. Asset Stripping
For years, multilateral institutions such as the World Bank have advocated for a shift in how public institutions particularly schools are managed in developing economies. The argument is straightforward: government ownership often breeds inefficiency, while private sector participation introduces discipline, capital, and accountability.
Nwafor does not reject this premise. In fact, he embraces it.
I agree that these schools need a new funding and management model, he told me. That conversation is long overdue.
But his agreement ends where current policy begins.
What is happening now is not reform. It is asset stripping disguised as Public-Private Partnership.
His contention is that the ongoing PPP concessions involving Unity Schools some of which include land swaps and commercial developmentsfail a basic economic test: they do not eliminate governments financial burden. Instead, they reduce the asset base of the schools while leaving funding obligations largely intact.
That is not sustainability. That is liquidation, he said flatly.

A Question of Value
Unity Schoolsfederal secondary institutions established to foster national integrationare not just educational facilities. Many sit on expansive parcels of land, some in increasingly valuable urban corridors. Several are over 50 years old and have produced generations of Nigerias elite across sectors.
Nwafor sees this not as a liability, but as an under-leveraged asset.
These schools have alumni networks embedded in global corporations, multinationals, and financial institutions. You are talking about individuals and organizations with the capacity for structured, long-term investment through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and philanthropic vehicles.
He leaned forward slightly.
Why sell land when you havent even activated your most obvious capital pool?

The Numbers Behind the Argument
To illustrate his point, Nwafor pointed to Nigerias banking sector, which has posted record profits in recent years. While he did not cite a specific figure during our conversation, industry reports indicate that the combined profits of major Nigerian banks in 2025 run into trillions of naira.
His proposal is mathematically simple:
If just 0.5% of banking sector profits were systematically channeled into Unity Schools, the funding gap would effectively disappear.
The implication is stark: the problem may not be a lack of resources, but a failure of coordination.

USOSA: The Alternative Model
At the core of Nwafors argument is an institution many outside the Unity School ecosystem may not fully appreciate: the Unity Schools Old Students Association (USOSA), an umbrella body representing alumni across these federal schools.
USOSA was built on a very clear idea, he explained. That government does not have to fund these schools indefinitely. There is a credible alternativestructured alumni-led management.
This model, he argues, is a truer expression of Public-Private Partnership than what is currently being implemented.
You hand over operational responsibility to a body that has emotional, historical, and reputational equity in the schools. Government becomes the regulator. Alumni bring funding, governance, and a competitive mindset.
That last point is critical.
When schools are run by their alumni, performance becomes personal. Every school wants to outperform the other. That is how you drive excellence.

The Process Problem
Beyond policy disagreements, what appears to animate Nwafor most is the processor lack thereof. According to him, the Federal Ministry of Education constituted a committee in June 2025 to develop PPP guidelines for Unity Schools. Yet, USOSAarguably the most relevant stakeholderwas excluded.
They did not invite us. They did not consult us. They did not even share the final guidelines.
What followed, he says, was even more troubling.
They proceeded to sign 18 PPP concession deals for 18 schoolswithout public notice, without stakeholder engagement, without asking a basic question: is there a better alternative?
The frustration here is not rhetorical; it is procedural. In governance terms, the absence of transparency and stakeholder inclusion undermines both legitimacy and long-term viability. Even formal correspondence from alumni bodies underscores this concern, citing lack of transparency, stakeholder exclusion, and deviation from established PPP guidelines as central objections.
Nwafors summary is blunt: Who works like that?

Why He Is Marching
For Nwafor, Saturdays march is not symbolicit is strategic.
This is an awareness walk. We are trying to force a national conversation.
He is particularly focused on reaching one audience: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
My greatest hope is that the President hears usnot as critics, but as stakeholders offering a better solution.
His appeal is framed less as opposition and more as course correction.
If the true objective is to reduce the financial burden on government and improve these schools, then we are presenting a model that does bothwithout destroying value.

The Stakes
At stake is more than land or policy. It is the future governance model of a network of institutions that has, for decades, played a quiet but significant role in Nigerias nation-building.
The governments current path suggests a belief in private capital as the primary solution. Nwafors counterproposal does not reject that beliefit redirects it.
From external investors to internal stakeholders.
From asset liquidation to asset optimization.
From opaque concessions to participatory governance.

As Lagos, Abuja and Kano prepare for the march, one thing is clear: this is not a nostalgia-driven defense of the past. It is a contest over the architecture of the future. And Humphrey Nwafor intends to make sure it is not decided quietly.

Over 4,000 Old student of Federal Government Colleges Sign Petition Against FGC Kano Land Swap Deal rejected by Alumni Nationwide

In a powerful display of unity, more than 4,000 old students of Federal Government Colleges have appended their signatures to a formal petition rejecting a controversial land swap deal at the Federal Government College (FGC) Kano, setting the stage for a coordinated awareness walk across three Nigerian cities.

The petition, addressed to President Bola Tinubu and the Federal Ministry of Education, has become the rallying point for alumni from all 104 Federal Unity Colleges, who are demanding an immediate halt to what they describe as an “opaque and dangerous” public-private partnership arrangement.

According to documents obtained by our correspondent, the proposed deal would swap approximately 30 hectares of FGC Kano’s land—valued by alumni at over N36 billion—for N8.5 billion in infrastructure upgrades, including classrooms, hostels, and a health centre.

The petition, which has now crossed the 4,000-signature threshold, accuses the government of failing to carry out due diligence or consult key stakeholders before approving the agreement with Pluck Global Construction Company.

“These signatures represent the collective voice of thousands of Nigerians who believe that our Unity Schools are not bargaining chips,” said Shoyinka Shodunke, Global President of the FGC Kano Old Students Association (FGCKOSA). “We have invested our hearts, our resources, and our futures into these institutions. To see even an inch of our land swapped without our consent is an affront to everything we stand for.”

Shodunke, speaking exclusively to our reporter, revealed that alumni have already established a foundation and plan to launch a N5 billion development fund in June 2026 as a credible alternative to the government’s proposal.

“We are not just opposing; we are offering solutions,” he said. “But the government must first respect our voice. Over 4,000 signatures is not a small number. It is a movement.”

The petition details several grievances: lack of transparency in the bidding process, failure to consult the school’s board of governors or alumni associations, and the potential security risks of introducing a mixed-use commercial and residential estate adjacent to a secondary school.

Armed with the petition, alumni have concluded plans to embark on an awareness walk on Saturday, May 9, in Lagos, Abuja, and Kano. Organisers expect thousands to turn out in each city, carrying copies of the petition and demanding an audience with government officials.

In Lagos, protesters will gather at the Eko Atlantic city before marching to the Muri Okunola Park VI. In Abuja, the walk will culminate at the Eagle Square , where the petition will be formally submitted. In Kano, alumni will assemble near the school premises before heading to the Korota Park/Jubilee Line.

“The walk is not a riot. It is an appeal,” Shodunke clarified. “But it is also a warning. We have the signatures. We have the people. And we will not be ignored.”

As of press time, the Federal Ministry of Education had not issued an official response to the petition. However, a source within the ministry confirmed that officials are aware of the growing opposition and the planned protests.

Alumni leaders remain undeterred. With over 4,000 signatures already secured and days still to go before the May 16 walk, they expect the number to swell further.

“Every new signature is another voice saying: ‘Not our land. Not our legacy,’” Shodunke said. “We will walk until that message is heard.”

Concerned Uniry Schools Alumni Storm Lagos, Abuja, Kano Over ‘Secret’ Land Swap Deal

LAGOS, NIGERIA – A nationwide confrontation is brewing as members of several old students of Unity School known as Federal Government Coleges move from quiet concern to open resistance over what they describe as a “secretive” land swap deal threatening the assets of Nigeria’s Federal Unity Colleges.

On Saturday, May 9, over 4,000 alumni are expected to flood the streets of Lagos, Abuja, and Kano in a coordinated awareness walk, branded under the rallying call “Pro Unitate – Better Together.” The protest targets a controversial Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement at Federal Government College (FGC) Kano, which proposes swapping approximately 30 hectares of school land for N8.5 billion in infrastructure upgrades . According to sources, this is said to be one of 18 such PPP concessions already entered into by the FME without any consultation with the alumni of these schools.”

The deal, approved by the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission and awarded to Pluck Global Construction Company, would see the developer renovate classrooms, build hostels, and construct a health centre in exchange for prime land bordering the 53-year-old institution, land alumni estimate is worth over N36 billion .

For many within Alumnus of these schools, the issue goes beyond property, it strikes at the very soul of a system designed to unite a diverse nation. But the fiercest opposition comes directly from Kano, where the deal has ignited a firestorm.

“This is not just about land or infrastructure. It is about preserving a national idea,” said Shoyinka Shodunke, Global President of the FGC Kano Old Students Association (FGCKOSA). Speaking to journalists ahead of the protest, Shodunke did not mince words regarding the government’s decision to exclude stakeholders.

“Unity Schools were established as symbols of excellence, integration, and nation-building. Any action that diminishes their integrity reflects a troubling disregard for the power of education as a driver of national progress,” Shodunke stated .

He described the proposed PPP project as a fundamental threat to the institution’s legacy, warning that the introduction of a mixed-use residential and commercial estate sharing boundaries with the school exposes students to avoidable risks.

“The land identified for this project is meant for learning, not for a residential or commercial estate. Introducing a mixed-use development adjacent to the school erodes the controlled environment required for effective learning,” Shodunke added .

In a detailed petition to President Bola Tinubu, which has now garnered thousands of signatures across all Unity Schools, the alumni argue that the process lacked transparency. They noted that they were never consulted, despite having collectively invested billions of naira in the college over the years without taking a single plot of land in return .

Shodunke further revealed that the association has already established a dedicated foundation and plans to launch a N5 billion development fund in June 2026, insisting that credible, mission-aligned funding alternatives exist without compromising the school’s integrity .

As the May 9 walks in Lagos, Abuja, and Kano draw near, the Federal Ministry of Education has yet to issue an official response to the petitions. However, the developers have insisted that the deal followed due process .

For Shodunke, the walk is a final warning. “We will not relent in pursuing all lawful and legal avenues to overturn this illegal arrangement,” he declared . Alumni warn that any attempt to proceed with the land swap while legal challenges and protests are pending will be met with massive civil resistance.

“ADC in Turmoil as Prophet Kingsley Aitafo’s 2025 Warning Comes to Pass”

ABUJA — The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is grappling with a deepening internal crisis following the exit of two of its most influential figures, Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, in developments now widely interpreted by some as the fulfilment of a 2025 prophecy.

The unfolding turmoil has reignited national attention on a statement made on July 22, 2025, by Prophet Kingsley Aitafo, who warned that the party would be beset by internal crises surpassing those of other major opposition platforms.

High-Profile Exit Shakes Party

Mr. Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, formally announced his departure from the ADC, citing unresolved legal disputes, persistent internal conflicts, and structural divisions within the party.

Around the same period, Mr. Kwankwaso, former governor of Kano State, is also reported to have distanced himself from the party, further compounding its leadership challenges.

Political observers say the departure of both figures, widely regarded as pillars of the party’s 2027 ambition, has significantly weakened the ADC’s position as a viable “third force” in Nigeria’s political landscape.

Prophecy Resurfaces Amid Crisis

As the crisis deepens, attention has shifted to Prophet Aitafo’s earlier warning, which has since gained renewed traction across social media and political circles.

Supporters of the cleric argue that the sequence of events reflects a clear alignment with his prediction, pointing to the scale of internal discord and the exit of key stakeholders. Others, however, caution that the developments may be better explained by internal party dynamics and the challenges associated with coalition politics.

Mounting Pressure and Uncertainty

The ADC is now facing multiple challenges, including reported defections among party members, ongoing litigation over its leadership structure, and growing uncertainty about its future direction.

Analysts note that the current instability could have broader implications for opposition politics ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly as key actors begin to realign.

A Defining Moment

While party leaders are said to be making efforts to stabilise the situation, the ADC’s immediate future remains uncertain.
Whether viewed as a case of political miscalculation or the realisation of a prophetic warning, the crisis marks a critical turning point for the party, as it struggles to maintain relevance in an increasingly competitive political environment.

SOCIAL MEDIA IS NOT A BATTLEFIELD COMMAND – WHY THE NIGERIAN ARMY’S ACTION AGAINST JUSTICE CRACK IS A NATIONAL SECURITY IMPERATIVE

By Tijjani Tanko

INTRODUCTION: NATION AT WAR CANNOT AFFORD A SECOND FRONT

Nigeria is not at peace. Across the North East, North West, and North Central, our armed forces are locked in daily combat against terrorists and bandits. Thousands of soldiers are deployed forward, often without rotation, facing an enemy that watches every word on social media. In this environment, the difference between “free speech” and “subversive act” is not academic – it is life and death.

The Nigerian Army recently arrested a social media influencer, Justice Mark Chidiebere (known as “Justice Crack”), and handed him to civil authorities. His crime: systematically spreading content designed to turn soldiers against their commanders over welfare issues – beyond legitimate criticism into active incitement of insubordination. Public outcry has followed, with many calling the Army a silencer of whistleblowers. This statement argues the opposite: the Army acted lawfully, proportionately, and in the highest interest of national security.

WHAT JUSTICE CRACK ACTUALLY DID

On 2 May 2026, the Army announced the arrest of Justice Crack alongside several soldiers. Investigations showed he had built direct communication lines with frontline troops. He did not merely amplify complaints about rations or equipment – he actively urged soldiers to question their commanders’ legitimacy, refuse orders, and post videos attacking military hierarchy. Some soldiers admitted receiving small payments to share internal grievances that should have gone through proper channels.

Crucially, the Army did not court‑martial the influencer. He was handed over to civilian police for normal criminal prosecution. That is not military dictatorship; that is constitutional democracy where no one – influencer or general – is above the law.

WHY THE CRITICISM IS MISPLACED AND DANGEROUS

First, critics confuse “whistleblowing” with “subversion.” A real whistleblower reports specific, verifiable wrongdoing to lawful authorities – Defence Headquarters, Human Rights Commission, or the media with evidence. Justice Crack did none of that. He broadcast unverified, one‑sided narratives meant to make soldiers feel abandoned. In a war zone, that is not transparency; it is psychological warfare.

Second, timing is everything. Isolated welfare lapses exist in every army – including the US, UK, and Russia. But during war, amplifying those lapses in real time to combat units hands the enemy a propaganda tool. Terrorist groups already use such posts to claim “the Nigerian Army is starving” or “commanders don’t care,” lowering troop morale and encouraging desertion.

Third, the Army acted with restraint. No soldier was shot. No journalist was jailed. The influencer was detained, investigated, and transferred to civilian police – exactly the same process for any civilian who incites factory workers to sabotage production during wartime. Why should the military be held to a lower standard?

Fourth, the slippery slope argument cuts both ways. Critics fear any arrest will clamp down on dissent. But the greater risk is inaction: if the military does nothing while influencers systematically undermine command authority, the result will be crumbling discipline, friendly fire, and avoidable deaths. Which is more humane – arresting one influencer for investigation, or allowing a thousand soldiers to die because they lost faith in their leaders?

THE HARSH REALITY OF WARTIME MORALE

Military psychology is clear: a soldier who believes his nation has abandoned him hesitates. In counter‑insurgency, hesitation kills. The difference between a successful ambush and a fatal one is often split seconds. When a frontline soldier spends his rest time watching a viral video accusing his commander of stealing his meal allowance, trust in the chain of command erodes. Once eroded, it is nearly impossible to restore under fire.

The Nigerian Army has therefore not overreacted. It has sent a clear signal: social media is not a free‑fire zone against our armed forces during active hostilities. Debate military policy in newspapers or on talk shows – that is welcome. But directly engaging serving soldiers to provoke indiscipline will face the law.

CONCLUSION: ACCOUNTABILITY MUST BE SHARED

In a democracy under threat, rights come with responsibilities. The Army has a duty to protect itself from internal subversion just as it protects the nation from external enemies. The Justice Crack case was not an assault on free expression; it was a lawful intervention to prevent the weaponization of social media against combat morale. The widespread criticism – much of it based on incomplete facts – ironically proves the danger: misinformation spreads faster than truth.

Nevertheless, no institution is perfect. The military can improve, and so can influencers and the public. Therefore, the following recommendations are offered in good faith.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ALL STAKEHOLDERS

For the Nigerian Military: Establish a transparent, fast welfare grievance mechanism – a confidential hotline with a rapid‑response team that visits units within 48 hours of a complaint. Publish anonymised summaries of actions taken. Mandate pre‑deployment social media training warning personnel against communicating with civilian influencers on internal matters. Adopt a clear public policy distinguishing legitimate criticism from prohibited incitement, published in English, Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba. When future arrests occur, release initial evidence (redacted for security) within 72 hours to prevent misinformation.

For Social Media Influencers: Before posting military content, ask three questions: Could this help an enemy? Could it break a soldier’s spirit? Have I verified the claim through official channels? If yes to any, do not post. Nigerian criminal laws on cyberstalking, incitement, and sedition apply to you. If you wish to expose genuine shortcomings, send evidence to Defence Headquarters or recognised civil society groups – not by launching a viral campaign while the nation bleeds.

For Civil Society and Human Rights Organisations: Do not reflexively defend every person the military detains. Investigate each case on its merits. In the Justice Crack matter, ask to see the evidence before condemning. Work with the military to create accredited observer programmes for detention of civilian security suspects. Such cooperation will give you moral authority to criticise when the military truly oversteps.

For the General Public and Media: Resist turning every military‑civilian clash into a viral outrage. The soldiers in uniform are your children, neighbours, and relatives. When you share a video mocking a soldier’s boots or food, you are demoralising someone who may take a bullet for you tomorrow. Report genuine welfare failures through your state governor, National Assembly member, or Ministry of Defence – not by blowing up the dam online. Extend the same presumption of innocence to the military that you demand for civilians.

2027: The Dankaka ‘Tsunami’ Sweeps Across Kwara South

The political landscape of Kwara South Senatorial District witnessed what observers are describing as a "tectonic shift" this weekend, as thousands of constituents gathered to endorse Dr. Muheebah Dankaka, OON, for the Nigerian Senate in the 2027 general elections.

The declaration rally, held amidst a carnival-like atmosphere, saw an unprecedented convergence of the district’s political ecosystem. From the rolling hills of Oke-Ero and Isin to the bustling hubs of Offa and Oyun, and across the plains of Ifelodun, Irepodun, and Ekiti, the message delivered was singular and resolute: Dr. Dankaka is the consensus choice.

A Grassroots Mandate

Unlike traditional political gatherings, the event was marked by an organic surge of support from a diverse coalition. Local government chairmen, All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwarts, royal fathers, and influential youth and women groups stood side-by-side to affirm their loyalty.

"This is not just a political movement; it is a strategic project for the survival and progress of Kwara South," remarked one community stakeholder. "We are tired of trial and error. We need a senator who doesn't need to learn the ropes—someone who is already bringing the ropes from Abuja to pull development home."

Breaking the Glass Ceiling

A recurring theme throughout the declaration was the demand for gender inclusivity in high-level representation. Supporters frequently broke into chants of "What a man can do, a woman can do better," highlighting Dr. Dankaka’s track record as a trailblazer for female leadership in Northern Nigeria.

As the former Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Dr. Dankaka is credited with managing Nigeria’s complex diversity with a firm but fair hand. Her supporters argue that her national influence and international exposure make her the most formidable candidate to represent the district’s interests at the federal level.

"Tested and Trusted"

Addressing the sea of supporters, speakers highlighted Dr. Dankaka’s unique blend of "federal reach and grassroots touch." They pointed to her tenure at the FCC as evidence of her ability to drive impactful policies and maintain transparency in public service.

"She is not a token candidate," said a prominent women leader from the district. "She is a tested leader who brings empathy, competence, and a relentless drive for progress. She has served the nation; now it is time for her to serve her own people."

The Road to 2027

In her response, Dr. Dankaka reaffirmed her absolute dedication to the people of Kwara South, promising a tenure defined by accessibility, accountability, and development. She urged the district to remain united, warning against any attempts to divide or distract the movement.

As the "Dankaka Tsunami" gains momentum, political analysts suggest that her entry into the race has fundamentally altered the 2027 projections for Kwara South. With the backing of key traditional and political structures, the path to the Red Chamber appears increasingly clear for the woman the locals now simply call "The Answer."

Trump, Iran, and Prophecy: Prophet Aitafo’s Words Resurface Amid Global Tensions

OGUN STATE – In a climate of rising global tension and political shifts, the prophetic utterances of Evangelist Aitafo Oladapo Kingsley, leader of Oneness in Christ Ministry, have become a focal point for believers and skeptics alike. Recent headlines involving international security and the safety of global leaders appear to align with a series of "visions" released by the ministry earlier this spring.

The "Vision" on the Global Stage
In mid-March and early April, Kingsley’s ministry released specific prophetic points that have since gained traction on social media. Most notable was a directive to pray for Donald Trump, with the prophet claiming a vision regarding an attempt on the former U.S. President’s life.

"Let’s pray for Donald Trump with prayers cos it won’t end his life or tenure," the March 15th post stated, alongside a specific plea for the President of the United States to be "protected from every danger and any plan against his life."

Following recent security breaches and reported threats against high-profile political figures in the West, followers of the "Oneness in Christ" movement are pointing to these documents as proof of divine insight. The prophecy also touched upon the conflict between the USA, Iran, and Israel, suggesting that while tensions would flare, they would not escalate into a world-ending Third World War.

"This Jesus Christ is Alive": The 3-Day Revival
Against the backdrop of these fulfilled "visions," the ministry is preparing for a massive spiritual gathering. The "3 Days Open Revival," themed "This Jesus Christ is Alive" (based on Revelation 1:18), is set to take place in Sango, Ogun State.

Event Details:

Dates: April 28th, 29th, and 30th, 2026.
Time: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM Daily.
Location: 20 Showole Street, Ewupe Singer Sango, Ogun State.
Lead Minister: Evangelist Norton Adeyemi, alongside guest ministers and the primary visionary, Aitafo Oladapo Kingsley.
The event promises a mix of evangelism and musical ministration featuring "Gbemi Dynamics," "Irenise," and "Starinola."

As the revival date approaches, many are expected to flock to the Ewupe Singer venue, seeking not just spiritual renewal, but perhaps a glimpse into what the prophet sees next for a world that seems increasingly unpredictable.

Beyond North-East gains: Buratai hails Navy over crude recovery, maritime security

• Neutralise insurgents, recover arms in Borno, Yobe
• Airstrikes hit ISWAP fighters in Lake Chad
• Navy disrupts oil theft, piracy in Niger Delta
• Soldiers rescue victims, recover cattle in North-West

ABUJA — Former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, has said Nigerian troops have recorded significant operational successes across multiple theatres, signalling renewed momentum in the fight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and economic sabotage.

Buratai, in a statement, said recent coordinated operations by the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force had dealt heavy blows to criminal elements across the country.

According to him, troops under Operation Hadin Kai repelled a coordinated terrorist attack in Kukareta, Borno State, killing 24 insurgents and recovering 18 AK-47 rifles, three machine guns, two anti-aircraft guns and rocket-propelled grenade launchers.

He added that follow-up operations led to the discovery of additional bodies of fleeing terrorists, while troops in Kanamma, Yobe State, killed four insurgents during another attempted infiltration.

Buratai further disclosed that troops neutralised a top ISWAP commander, Abu Jarir, describing the development as a major setback for the group’s leadership structure.
He said the successes were bolstered by precision airstrikes conducted by the Air Force in the Lake Chad region, where several ISWAP fighters were killed after their positions on Kaniram Island were bombarded.

In the North-West, Buratai noted that troops of Operation Fansan Yamma recorded breakthroughs against bandits. In Katsina State, soldiers forced a notorious bandit leader, Muhammad Filani, to abandon 225 rustled cattle, which were subsequently returned to their owners.

He added that troops destroyed criminal camps in Munhaye Forest, Zamfara State, and carried out ambush operations in Kaduna State, leading to arrests, recovery of ammunition and rescue of kidnapped victims.

In the North-Central, he said troops of Operation Enduring Peace arrested suspected militia members involved in cattle rustling in Plateau State, recovering dozens of stolen livestock.

Highlighting operations in the South-South, Buratai commended the Nigerian Navy for its role in Operation Delta Safe, noting that naval personnel uncovered illegal oil bunkering sites in Rivers State and recovered thousands of litres of stolen crude oil.

He also praised the Navy’s sustained surveillance and deterrence patrols, which he said had contributed to a drastic reduction in piracy in the Gulf of Guinea.

In the South-East, Buratai disclosed that troops arrested a suspected IPOB commander linked to attacks on security personnel, while also recovering the remains of two soldiers killed in 2022, who are now set to receive full military honours.

The former army chief attributed the recent gains to improved intelligence, enhanced inter-agency cooperation and the resilience of troops on the frontline.

He urged Nigerians to support the military and avoid spreading unverified information capable of demoralising personnel.

“The momentum must be sustained. The enemy is weakened but not defeated. This is the time to intensify operations and consolidate on the gains recorded,” he said.

Buratai also commended the leadership of the armed forces and security agencies for fostering coordination across operations nationwide.

He added that continued public support and cooperation with security agencies would be critical to restoring lasting peace across the country.

Keep the Pressure, Don’t Let the Enemy Breathe: Buratai Charges Troops to Press Harder After Wave of Successes

ABUJA — Former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, has said Nigerian troops have recorded significant operational successes across various theatres, describing recent gains as evidence of renewed momentum in the fight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and economic sabotage.

Buratai made this known in a security assessment shared on his Facebook page, noting that coordinated efforts by the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force are yielding measurable results across multiple operational fronts.

In the North-East, troops under Operation Hadin Kai repelled a major attack on Kukareta community in Borno State, killing 24 insurgents and recovering AK-47 rifles, machine guns, and rocket-propelled grenade launchers.

He added that follow-up operations uncovered additional terrorist casualties, including newly discovered graves. In Kanamma, Yobe State, troops neutralised four insurgents alongside a high-value ISWAP commander identified as Abu Jarir.

Buratai further stated that coordinated air and ground operations significantly shaped the outcomes, as Nigerian Air Force jets carried out precision strikes in the Lake Chad region, targeting over 30 boats allegedly used by ISWAP fighters on Kaniram Island.
In the North-West, troops under Operation Fansan Yamma recorded major breakthroughs against bandit groups. In Katsina State, soldiers engaged fighters led by a suspected bandit kingpin, Muhammad Filani, forcing them to abandon over 200 rustled cattle, which were recovered.
He added that similar operations in Zamfara State and Kaduna State led to the destruction of bandit camps, recovery of arms, rescue of kidnapped victims, and arrest of suspects.

In the North-Central, Buratai said troops of Operation Enduring Peace arrested suspected militia members involved in cattle rustling in Plateau State, while coordinated ambushes led to the neutralisation of armed bandits and recovery of stolen livestock.
He also disclosed that troops of Operation Delta Safe uncovered illegal oil bunkering sites in Rivers State, recovering large quantities of stolen crude oil.

In the South-East, security forces arrested a suspected commander of the Indigenous People of Biafra, popularly known as “Calamity,” allegedly linked to attacks on security personnel.

Buratai also revealed that the remains of two soldiers killed in 2022—Master Warrant Officer Linus Musa Audu and Lance Corporal Gloria Mathew—had been recovered and would be accorded full military burial honours.

He attributed the operational gains to improved intelligence gathering, stronger inter-agency cooperation, and the resilience of troops across theatres of operation.
While stressing that the fight against insecurity is not yet over, Buratai called for sustained pressure on criminal elements.

“The terrorists and bandits are weakened but not defeated. This is the time to intensify operations, not relent,” he said.

He also urged Nigerians to support the military with credible information, and called on the media to ensure balanced reporting of security developments.

Security analysts note that the recent wave of operations reflects improved coordination among security agencies, even as challenges persist in fully restoring peace across affected regions.

Ex-Military Officer Counters Claims of Systemic Corruption in Nigerian Army

A retired senior officer of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General D.G. James (retd.), has dismissed allegations of systemic corruption within the military, describing them as unsubstantiated and misleading.

The former officer was reacting to a recent report by Sahara Reporters which alleged the existence of so-called “mushroom units,” inflated budgets, and widespread diversion of operational resources within the Army.
In a statement issued on Thursday, James said the claims, reportedly based on an anonymous source, lacked credible evidence and failed to reflect the operational realities of the military.

He said, “Serious allegations about personnel records, budgeting, and logistics must be backed by verifiable proof. Anonymous claims without documents or identifiable sources cannot be treated as facts.”

The retired general, who served for over three decades across the North-East, North-West, and Niger Delta, explained that the creation of new formations and task forces was a strategic response to evolving security threats, including insurgency and banditry.
According to him, operating units below full strength is not evidence of corruption but a reflection of battlefield realities such as casualties, redeployments, and ongoing expansion.

James also faulted claims that personnel were being double-counted to inflate allowances, describing the allegation as “logistically implausible” due to the Army’s centralised payroll system linked to biometric verification.

On logistics, he noted that funding challenges within the national budgeting system often affect what is eventually released to operational units, adding that commanders are frequently required to manage limited resources.

He further criticised the report’s reference to the death of a senior officer during an insurgent attack, describing it as inappropriate and disrespectful.

“It is wrong to use the death of fallen soldiers to support unverified claims. These men paid the ultimate price in service to the nation,” he said.

While calling for a thorough investigation into the allegations, the retired officer urged that any probe should be evidence-driven and not based on media reports alone.

“If there is wrongdoing, let it be exposed and punished. But the process must be fair, transparent, and rooted in facts,” he added.
James also stressed that issues relating to defence funding involve multiple
stakeholders, including the executive and the National Assembly, and should not be attributed solely to the military.

He urged Nigerians to remain cautious and demand credible evidence before drawing conclusions about the Armed Forces.

PoliticsForensic Investigation Reveals Fabricated X Account Targeting Inec Chairman – Cp by Hunter2009(op): 7:39pm On Apr 20
FORENSIC INVESTIGATION REVEALS FABRICATED X ACCOUNT TARGETING INEC CHAIRMAN – CPS

The Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mr. Adedayo Oketola, has said that a purported X (formerly Twitter) account attributed to the Commission’s Chairman, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, is fake and part of a coordinated disinformation campaign.

In a public statement issued on Monday in Abuja, Mr. Oketola disclosed that a comprehensive, multi-layered forensic investigation conducted by independent cybersecurity experts has conclusively established that the INEC Chairman does not operate any personal X account.

He said, "The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) , committed to a full forensic investigation, commissioned an independent forensic cybersecurity expert, who conducted a multi-layered forensic and digital investigation using X platform data, internet archive records, OSINT tools, identity forensics and cross-platform analysis."

Oketola stressed that all posts, replies, and screenshots linking him to the handle @joashamupitan are fraudulent, forensically unverifiable, and technically impossible.

The controversy began on April 10, 2026, when viral social media posts alleged that the Chairman made a partisan comment — “Victory is sure” — in response to another user, supported by screenshots and purported digital records.

However, the CPS said the forensic investigation uncovered clear evidence of fabrication and impersonation, highlighting the following key findings:

· No Digital Linkage: There is no connection between the disputed X account and Prof. Amupitan’s verified email addresses or phone numbers, as multiple recovery and verification attempts failed to establish any link.

· False BVN/OPay Claims: Data used to suggest ownership of the account only confirms identity and does not establish control of any social media handle, making such claims a logical fallacy.

· Timestamp Manipulation: The alleged reply “Victory is sure” was posted 13 minutes before the original tweet it responded to—an occurrence that is technically impossible and definitive proof of fabrication.

· No Historical Record: Searches on the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine showed zero evidence of the account or its alleged activity prior to April 2026.

· Non-Existence on X Platform: Live checks confirmed that the alleged reply does not exist and has never existed on the platform.

· Account Renaming Pattern: On the same day the screenshots went viral, the account was renamed @sundayvibe00, set to private, and labelled a “parody account,” indicating deliberate impersonation and damage control.

· Coordinated Multi-Platform Impersonation: At least seven fake accounts across Facebook and Instagram using the Chairman’s identity were identified, pointing to a sustained disinformation effort.

“The forensic evidence is comprehensive, multi-sourced, and unambiguous. The posts attributed to Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan on X are fabricated. The account is a clear case of impersonation,” Mr. Oketola said.

Quoting one of the independent investigators, he described the development as “a coordinated digital impersonation and disinformation campaign,” warning that advances in artificial intelligence had made it easier to fabricate misleading content.

He urged the public to avoid sharing unverified information, noting that “the fact that content goes viral does not make it authentic,” and called on media organisations to prioritise accuracy over speed.

Mr. Oketola said the independent forensic report had been referred to the law enforcement agencies for necessary action. He also appealed to law enforcement agencies to investigate the origin of the fake account and prosecute those responsible under the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act.

He said, "Media organisations, in particular, have a duty to apply strict forensic verification standards to social media posts and screenshots before publishing them, especially when such content implicates public officials or carries serious consequences for public trust and institutional credibility. Accuracy, not speed, must guide reporting in matters of this nature."

He reiterated that all official communications from INEC are disseminated exclusively through its verified platforms, including its website (www.inecnigeria.org), verified X account (@inecnigeria), official Facebook page, online news portal (www.inecnews.com), formal press statements from its headquarters in Abuja, and official media briefings. Any account purporting to represent the INEC Chairman in a personal capacity, he said, should be treated as fraudulent unless formally verified by the Commission.

NASRE Accuses Peter Okoye of Threatening Journalist, Demands Retraction

The Nigerian Association of Social and Resourceful Editors (NASRE) has raised alarm over an alleged threat by Afrobeat artist Peter Okoye (Mr P) against journalist and NASRE Directorate member, Mr Bayo Adetu, warning that the singer will be held responsible should any harm come to the journalist or his family.

In a press statement issued on April 20, 2026, NASRE’s leadership, led by Comrade Femi Oyewale, expressed concern over the incident reportedly occurring at the Ikoyi High Court during proceedings in the ongoing legal dispute involving P-Square and their elder brother, Jude Okoye.

NASRE views the alleged statement as inappropriate and unacceptable, stating that any language suggesting intimidation against a journalist performing lawful duties raises serious concerns about press freedom, safety, and professional ethics.

The association has therefore called on Mr Peter Okoye to retract the alleged statement and issue a public apology to Mr Bayo Adetu, while also urging all parties involved in the ongoing legal matter to conduct themselves with restraint, respect, and strict adherence to the rule of law.

NASRE RAISES ALARM OVER ALLEGED THREAT BY PETER OKOYE (MR P) AGAINST BAYO ADETU IN COURT, WARNS OF CONSEQUENCES

The leadership of the Nigerian Association of Social and Resourceful Editors (NASRE), led by Comrade Femi Oyewale, expresses concern over an alleged threat issued by popular Afrobeat artist Peter Okoye, widely known as Mr P, against journalist and NASRE Directorate member, Mr Bayo Adetu.

The incident reportedly occurred at the Ikoyi High Court during proceedings in the ongoing legal dispute involving the music duo P-Square and their elder brother, Jude Okoye. Eyewitnesses present in court stated that Mr Peter Okoye drew the attention of Justice Alexander Owoeye to Mr Adetu’s presence, noting that he was formerly P-Square’s publicist but now works with his brothers. The remark reportedly generated reactions in the courtroom.

It is further alleged that after the court session, Mr Peter Okoye confronted Mr Adetu in the presence of others and said, “You, Bayo, I will set you up.”

NASRE views this alleged statement as inappropriate and unacceptable. Any language suggesting harm or intimidation directed at a journalist performing lawful duties raises serious concerns regarding press freedom, safety, and professional ethics.

We state unequivocally that should anything happen to Mr Bayo Adetu or any member of his family, Mr Peter Okoye will be held accountable. Such statements, when directed at a media professional, are taken with utmost seriousness.

NASRE will not tolerate any form of intimidation, harassment, or threat against its members. We are fully prepared to activate all lawful media and legal channels to protect our members and safeguard the integrity of the profession. Mr Peter Okoye must be aware that utterances of this nature carry consequences and he will be held responsible for any outcome arising from this matter.

We therefore call on Mr Peter Okoye to retract the alleged statement and issue a public apology to Mr Bayo Adetu. We also urge all parties involved in the ongoing matter to conduct themselves with restraint, respect, and strict adherence to the rule of law.

The safety of journalists remains paramount, and the media will not be silenced.

Buratai Warns of Rising Instability in West Africa, Urges Joint Security Action

Former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Yusuf Buratai (rtd), has raised alarm over growing insecurity and political instability in West Africa, calling for urgent and coordinated regional action to prevent further deterioration.

Speaking at the 24th annual symposium marking the 43rd memorial anniversary of Aminu Kano in Kano on Friday, Buratai said the resurgence of military coups and transnational crimes poses a serious threat to democratic governance and regional peace.

Delivering his remarks as Chairman of the Occasion, the retired general noted that terrorism, arms smuggling, human trafficking, and maritime crimes have continued to spread across borders, making unilateral responses ineffective.

“No nation can secure itself alone,” he said. “These threats are regional in nature and demand intelligence-sharing, joint operations, and sustained collaboration.”
Buratai, who previously served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Benin Republic, stressed that the role of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) remains critical despite current challenges.

He cautioned that unconstitutional changes of government in parts of the region represent a setback to democratic progress and disproportionately affect vulnerable populations.

“When the ballot is silenced, the ordinary people suffer the most,” he said.

The former army chief, however, expressed optimism that stronger commitment from member states could reposition ECOWAS as an effective platform for collective security and stability.

He also urged security agencies across the region to deepen trust and professionalism in tackling shared threats.

The symposium, held at Mambayya House, brought together stakeholders from academia, government, and civil society to deliberate on regional peace and development.

*Mojoyin Fadaka: A Quietly Rising Voice in Nollywood*

Since her debut in 2023, Mojoyin Fadaka has been carving out a steady path in Nollywood—one defined less by noise and more by intention. Rather than chasing visibility, she focuses on growth, craft, and understanding the depth of each role she takes on.

Trained at Del York Creative Academy and KAP Film and Television Academy, Mojoyin built her foundation on discipline as much as talent. For her, acting is not just performance but preparation and emotional awareness—an approach that continues to shape her work across film and television.

Her growing filmography includes titles such as *Instead Of Love*, *Crazy Wives*, *Campus Queen*, *The Last Paycheck*, and *Between The Rails*. Across these projects, she has worked with respected figures in the industry while steadily expanding her range and screen presence.

Beyond acting, Mojoyin also explores storytelling through writing, a passion that influences how she interprets characters. She is drawn to roles that feel authentic and meaningful, avoiding shallow portrayals in favor of emotional depth and purpose.

Her versatility is further strengthened by her ability to perform in English, Yoruba, and Pidgin, with ongoing efforts to learn Igbo. She is also developing physical skills like boxing and swimming to broaden her adaptability for future roles.

Influenced by performers such as Viola Davis and Kehinde Bankole, Mojoyin describes her approach as instinctive—focused on allowing emotion rather than forcing it.

As Nollywood continues to expand, she remains focused on consistency over pressure, growth over speed. For Mojoyin Fadaka, the journey is not about rushing ahead, but building something lasting—one role at a time.

Top Ministry Officials Accused of Backing Illegal Land Grab at Federal Government College Kano – Court Order Defied with “Official Protection”

Fresh facts have emerged suggesting that the ongoing defiance of a court order on the disputed land of Federal Government College, Kano, may be enjoying covert support from top officials within the Federal Ministry of Education, the Federal Government College Kano Old Students Association (FGCKOSA) has alleged.

In an exclusive interview and through a passionate press statement obtained by this reporter, the alumni association accused unnamed but “highly placed” ministry officials of actively encouraging the illegal encroachment, even after a Kano State High Court issued an ex parte order halting all construction activities on the site.

According to FGCKOSA, the association acted swiftly and lawfully, securing Suit No. K/323/2026 before Honourable Justice Ubale Yusuf Muhammad. The order, served on all parties including the Honourable Minister of Education by Saturday, April 11, 2026, commanded an immediate freeze on any further activity on the land.

Yet, a source within the association told this correspondent that construction workers remained on site days later. On Monday, an officer of the Kano State High Court, accompanied by alumni members, personally visited the school premises and confirmed that workers were actively present. The court order was handed directly to school authorities. Still, work continued.

“This is not a simple case of rogue encroachers,” Shoyinka Shodunke, National President of FGCKOSA, told this reporter. “We have credible reason to believe that certain top officials within the Federal Ministry of Education are shielding those behind this illegality. They are emboldening the defiance. They are spitting on the court’s authority from the comfort of their offices.”

The association stopped short of naming names but demanded an immediate presidential inquiry into the role of ministry officials, alleging that the land grab is being dressed up as “development” while insiders position themselves for private gain.

“Let us call evil by its name,” Shodunke added. “This is not development. This is racketeering. And when officials who swore to protect our educational institutions look the other way, they become accomplices to a crime against national heritage.”

FGCKOSA has vowed to fight “legally, socially, and institutionally” without retreat, declaring that the land is “not for sale, not for trade, not for negotiation.” The association has also established a foundation to raise funds for infrastructure upgrades, but stressed that this will be done “without conceding a single inch of land.”

“As we say in Nigeria, we die here,” the statement concluded. “We will not relent until every official complicit in this shameful act is exposed and every illegal structure is pulled down.”

Attempts to reach the Federal Ministry of Education for comment were unsuccessful as of press time. However, a senior ministry source, speaking on condition of anonymity, denied any official backing of the encroachment, calling the allegations “unfounded.”

The court has scheduled further hearings on the matter. Meanwhile, FGCKOSA has called on the public, the press, and anti-corruption agencies to investigate what it describes as “a disturbing erosion of values where greed supersedes purpose.”

Buratai to Chair Aminu Kano Memorial Symposium as BUK Hosts 24th Annual Gathering

KANO, NIGERIA — Former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Yusufu Buratai (Rtd), will chair the 24th Annual Symposium marking the 43rd memorial anniversary of Malam Aminu Kano, in what is shaping up to be a high-level convergence of policy, security, and academic voices in Northern Nigeria.

The symposium, hosted by Bayero University Kano through its Aminu Kano Centre for Democratic Studies, is scheduled to hold on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Sa’adu Zungur Auditorium, Mambayya House, Gwammaja, Kano.

With the theme focused on regional stability, discussions will centre on “ECOWAS and Regional Peace in West Africa: The Security and Economic Implications for Nigeria,” a topic considered critical amid evolving geopolitical tensions in the sub-region.

Buratai’s role as Chairman of the Occasion underscores the strategic importance of the symposium, given his extensive military and diplomatic experience, including his tenure as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Republic of Benin.

The event will feature Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, as Special Guest of Honour, while Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, will serve as Chief Host.
Delivering the keynote as Guest Speaker is Nazifi Abdullahi Darma, a former Commissioner for Internal Services at the ECOWAS Commission, bringing regional insights into the evolving security architecture of West Africa.

Other discussants include former Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammed Babandede, and Professor Samaila Suleiman of Bayero University Kano.

The annual symposium, held in honour of the late Aminu Kano, remains a flagship intellectual platform for discourse on governance, democracy, and regional development, drawing policymakers, scholars, and stakeholders from across Nigeria and beyond.

With rising concerns over insecurity and economic instability in the West African sub-region, stakeholders are expected to leverage the forum to generate actionable strategies for sustainable peace and cooperation.
The event is slated to commence at 9:00 a.m. prompt.

PoliticsManipulation Of Military Operations To Suit Political Permutations; Nigerian Mil by Hunter2009(op): 8:37pm On Apr 14
Manipulation of Military Operations to Suit Political Permutations; Nigerian Military Operations in Jilli, as a case study.

By Comrade Oladimeji Odeyemi.

It must be stated clearly and without any apology: the continuous attempt by some political actors to manipulate or reinterpret military operations for political advantage is reckless, dangerous, and unacceptable. The Armed Forces of Nigeria are not an extension of political ambition, nor are they instruments to be twisted to fit changing political permutations.

Our military personnel, especially the personnel of the Nigerian Army are on the frontlines, risking—and in many cases losing—their lives to defend the nation. To politicise their sacrifices is not only disrespectful, it is an insult to the very idea of national service. Those who choose to score political points from matters of security should understand that they are undermining the morale, focus, and effectiveness of the very institutions safeguarding this country.

Recent developments further expose how dangerous and misleading these narratives can be. In a circulating video, a captured Boko Haram member, one Tijani openly affirmed that insurgents frequently congregate at the Jilli Axis—an area that was recently targeted and bombed by the Nigerian military. He went to further affirmed that they mobilised from Jilli to carry out the attack on Benisheikh, which led to the tragic loss of our gallant Officers and Men. This revelation directly contradicts the politicised claims suggesting indiscriminate action or targeted victimisation. It instead reinforces the reality that military operations are intelligence-driven and aimed at dismantling terrorist strongholds.

Equally intolerable is the growing habit of dragging ethnic or tribal sentiments into matters of national security. This must stop. Security threats do not discriminate, and neither should our national response. Any attempt to twist counter-terrorism efforts into ethnic or sectional narratives is not only dishonest but dangerously divisive.

Furthermore, the reckless labeling of security operations as “witch-hunts” without credible evidence is a deliberate attempt to discredit institutions and confuse the public. Such narratives are not harmless—they weaken trust, embolden criminal elements, and place additional strain on already overstretched security personnel.

Those pushing such claims must be prepared to take responsibility for the consequences.

Let it be a warning: the continued politicisation of security issues will not only deepen national insecurity but will also be remembered as a betrayal of public trust. Politicians must draw a clear line between legitimate oversight and destructive interference. The former strengthens democracy; the latter endangers lives.

Our security agencies must be allowed to operate without intimidation, manipulation, or political distortion. Anything less is a direct compromise of national safety.

It is the government responsibility to provide security, especially in a Country like Nigeria, where citizens are not allowed to own the kind of weapons that terrorists and often criminals carry, government must protect the citizens.

In conclusion, the lives of citizens are not bargaining chips for political games. They are sacred. Any individual or group that chooses to exploit insecurity for political gain must understand that they are playing a dangerous game—one that history will judge harshly.

Comrade Oladimeji Odeyemi an entrepreneur, a security analyst and an opinion moulder sent this article from Ibadan, Oyo State.

Kogi Youths Rise in Protest, Allege Political Persecution Against Amupitan

AIYETORO GBEDE, KOGI — Hundreds of youths in Aiyetoro Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, on Monday staged a protest over what they described as a politically motivated attempt to undermine the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The demonstrators, drawn from various youth and civil society groups, marched through major streets of the community, voicing strong support for the independence of the electoral body and expressing confidence in Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and INEC National Commissioner-nominee.

Carrying placards with inscriptions such as “Enemies of Fairness, Beware!” and “Fair Elections Start with Amupitan,” the protesters insisted that recent claims and rumours circulating on social media were part of a broader agenda to discredit the electoral system.

The protest featured a large procession of youths on motorcycles and on foot, drawing attention from residents as participants chanted solidarity songs and called for the protection of democratic institutions.
Speaking during the demonstration, a youth leader identified as Segun said the group would resist any attempt to “blackmail” or weaken the electoral body.

“We are here to send a clear message: the sanctity of INEC must be preserved. Prof. Amupitan is a man of integrity and a proud son of this land. Any attempt to malign his character or remove him unjustly is an attack on democracy,” he said.

The protest comes amid ongoing national debates over the appointment of new INEC National Commissioners, with some civil society organisations and opposition voices raising concerns about alleged political affiliations of certain nominees.

However, the Kogi youths dismissed such allegations as “sponsored propaganda,” arguing that Amupitan’s professional record and legal expertise position him to strengthen the credibility of the commission and ensure transparent electoral processes.

Meanwhile, INEC has rejected calls for the removal of its chairman, describing such demands as unconstitutional and a threat to the independence of the electoral body.

In a statement issued in Abuja and signed by Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Adedayo Oketola, the Commission stressed that its leadership is governed strictly by constitutional provisions, particularly Section 157 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which outlines the process for appointment and removal.

The Commission explained that its recent actions, including compliance with court rulings and decisions relating to party activities, were guided by the rule of law and aimed at safeguarding Nigeria’s democratic framework.

INEC also dismissed claims of partisan bias, noting that its recognition of multiple political parties and commitment to electoral transparency contradict allegations of a one-party agenda.

On the planned nationwide voter revalidation exercise, the Commission clarified that the initiative is a routine administrative process designed to sanitise the voter register, eliminate irregularities, and enhance the integrity of electoral data.

Reaffirming its commitment, INEC stated that it remains focused on delivering free, fair, and credible elections, adding that it would not be distracted by what it described as unfounded allegations.

The developments come ahead of key off-cycle elections in Ekiti and Osun states later in the year, as stakeholders continue to scrutinise the electoral body’s actions and leadership.

THAT AIRSTRIKE AT JILLI MARKET: A NECESSARY BLOW AGAINST A TERRORIST HUB

I have followed with serious concern reports of the airstrike at Jilli Market along the Borno–Yobe border, where over fifty persons lost their lives, and many others were injured. Any loss of innocent life is deeply unfortunate and painful. However, I must state clearly that I commend the Nigerian Air Force and the intelligence community for the courage and professionalism displayed in this operation.

The strike was a targeted military action based on credible intelligence that Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists were using the weekly market at Jilli to collect illegal levies, procure supplies, and plan further attacks. The public should understand the history ofJilli Market. It has long been a notorious terrorist logistics hub.

The Nigerian Army repeatedly raided and shut it down. In 2018, during Operation LAST HOLD, our troops occupied the area and engaged in multiple clashes with insurgents. Despite several closures, the terrorists continued to operate the market with the cooperation of some individuals who patronised and supplied them. It is deeply regrettable that innocent lives may have been caught in the strike, but the sole responsibility rests with the terrorists who deliberately embed themselves within civilian spaces as human shields.

No military wishes to harm civilians, but when a market is dominated by terrorist logistics and warnings have been ignored for years, the military has a duty to act. I appeal to the people of Geidam, Gubio, Damasak, and Ngamdu to cooperate with the military. Stop patronising or supplying goods to any market where terrorists establish or frequent. Communities that continue to trade with insurgents will inevitably find themselves in harm’s way.

The armed forces deserve our support. They acted on solid intelligence and struck a legitimate target. While we mourn innocent lives lost, we must not weaken our resolve against an enemy that shows no mercy. Victory is certain with continued military action and civilian cooperation. May the souls of the departed innocent rest in peace, and may the injured recover swiftly.

Opposition Smearing INEC Chairman Out of Desperation — Ajulo Declares Tinubu’s Victory Inevitable

ABUJA — The Ondo State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Kayode Ajulo (SAN), has accused opposition elements of orchestrating a calculated smear campaign against the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Joash Amupitan (SAN), insisting that such actions stem from their acceptance of imminent electoral defeat.

In a strongly worded press statement issued on Sunday, Ajulo argued that the opposition has abandoned genuine political engagement and has instead resorted to “the politics of discredit,” targeting the electoral umpire in a bid to undermine public confidence.

According to him, the attacks on the INEC chairman are deliberate attempts to weaken the credibility of the electoral process ahead of the next presidential election, which he claimed has already been “decisively won” by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“The opposition knows the battle is lost. What they now implement is not resistance, but the politics of discredit,” Ajulo stated.
He described Prof. Amupitan as a “steadfast guardian of Nigeria’s democratic process,” warning that efforts to discredit him would ultimately fail as Nigerians “see through the smoke.”

Ajulo further anchored his argument on Nigeria’s political history, recalling a period when the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) dominated the political landscape with a majority of state governors, while Tinubu, then leading the Alliance for Democracy (AD), controlled only Lagos State.

He said the political evolution that led to the rise of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its current dominance across many states reflects what he described as “a profound feat of strategy, resilience, and leadership.”

The attorney-general also noted that, unlike previous political realignments, the APC under Tinubu has not experienced defections of governors, but has instead attracted members from opposition parties.

He maintained that the current wave of criticism against INEC leadership is rooted in fear of electoral loss rather than legitimate concerns about the commission’s integrity.
Ajulo concluded by urging Nigerians to remain vigilant and resist attempts to erode trust in democratic institutions, emphasizing that “the mandate of the people will stand.”
