BusinessRe: New Tricks Used By Filling Station's Pump Attendant by hypenation: 11:08am On Oct 16, 2013
ifenadi: We all know their old trick where they will not reset the meter to start from zero when they want to sell petrol to you. Their new method is what baffled me and this is rampant in Asaba area.

The first time it happened to me, I thought it was actually a mistake as claimed by the attendant until It repeated several times. I visited a filling station in Asaba(name withheld) and there were two persons serving at the pump. The first person asked me, "how much do you want to buy" and I hold her 5 thousand naira. The 2nd guy proceeded to fill my tank resetting the meter to zero and not bothering to confirm the price I want to buy from the lady or me.To my surprise this guy stopped at 1000 naira and when I asked him why he stopped he said he thought I said I wanted to buy 1000 naira( I wondered where he got that message from cus he did not ask me or the lady whom I told I want to buy 5000k).

He then pressed some buttons at the meter as if he wanted to reset the meter to zero, meanwhile the thing still reads 1000 naira before he proceeded(if you do not look well you not see the 1 in front of the zeros). Again at 4000 naira He stopped . I now shouted , bros I told you I wanted to buy 5000 naira. He said that if I add the 4k to 1k he gave me initially that it will be 5k. I was confused but when I insisted that he didn't reset the meter. He quietly completed the remaining 1k. This happened again in the same filling station and that was when I realized it was their game.

I decided to change filling station and to my greatest surprise they use the same trick in Asaba and so many people are falling victims especially those that do not like to come down from their car while buying fuel.

Nuzo':
Some of you guys can be funny. grin

Its okay to buy into propaganda especially if they are well crafted. But it becomes stupidity to still believe the propaganda when you have a first hand opportunity to know the real deal but refuses to.

Kanye's Yeezus album is almost an opposite of blasphemy as seen and expected in one of the tracks listed as "I am god". In the track, you will notice he was talking to Jesus as he did in 'Jsesus walks'. Only that this time, he was addressing his own issues without much remorse.

From the track, it wasn't so hard to notice that Kanye drew his inspiration from one of the Bible verses which says "know that ye are gods". Meaning you have been given power to do great things and also get to relate one on one with God through Jesus just like how we do in our everyday prayers.

'I am god' is by no means blasphemous as speculated.

BREAKING: ASUU Prepares For Another
Strike In March 2013!!
The House of Representatives Tuesday summoned
the Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufai
and officials of the Academic Staff Union of
Universities (ASUU) in other to avert the impending
strike by the union.
In a motion brought to the floor of the House by
Rep Bashir Babale, PDP, Kano, said that it is
becoming worrisome that university lecturers
would have to be embarking on strikes to force
government meet its obligations on issues that
have been agreed upon in the best interest of the
nation’s tertiary education.
In the interest of the nation’s education sector
Babale urged the House to quickly intervene with a
view to avert the impending strike which
ultimatumexpires in nine days.
Hon Osai Osai (PDP, Delta) who seconded the
motion said without proper education the nation’s
democracy cannot survive and that if university
education collapses, it will affect other sectors in
the nation.
He also said that it is wrong for the government to
allow a reminiscent of the 2009 strike which was
called off after the government reached an
agreement with ASUU and that the impending
strike is the failure of the 2009 agreement.
The resolution was unanimously accepted when
Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal put it to vote.

Music/RadioThe Place Of Piracy In The Nigerian Music Industry? by hypenation(op):
THE PLACE OF PIRACY IN THE NIGERIAN MUSIC INDUSTRY?

The explosion of hiphop in Nigeria could be traced to the beginning of the millenium with the rise of the likes of Ruggedman, 2 Shotz, Freestyle, Eldee the Don, Modenine,MI,Naeto C e.t.c.
Between then and now-a relatively short space of time, one would’ve expected a gradual rise in the game or at best a slow and steady kind of climb. Contrarily, Hiphop music and culture has rapidly grown, spread and permeated almost every corner of the nation.
Hiphop music is fastly gaining heavy air play on radio and television stations, there are more Hiphop On Air Presenters and Hiphop shows on radio than has ever been experienced. This has invariably caused a heavy influx of piracy in the genre of music.
Hiphop in Nigeria has cut across all ages, gender, disposition and genres.
In the past couple of years, no fewer than multiples of tens of albums and mixtapes are released each year. More than a quarter of these make it to the mainstream thus boldening the outline of Hiphop on the music map.
Nigerian Hiphop videos recently, have been characterised by high quality, rich content screen play which has earned them heavy rotations on international Music Channels like the MTV, Channel O, Soundcity, Nigezie and the rest. Such videos have apart from making CDs move units, also won awards many of which are sponsored by internationally reknown awarding bodies.
This quite shows the level of appreciation Hiphop is receiving in Nigeria.
Furthermore, a lot of corporate organisations are getting involved, helping to elevate different parts of the culture to great heights. Several of them are stepping up to sponsor competitions. But here comes the problem of piracy in the music industry
1. We are not taking proper account of copies of album sold just like its done in the US
2. Albums are not selling like before,we now have the internet! Which means if anyone set his/her hands on a CD, he can send it to thousands of friends and they won't bother to buy it since they have it on their phone/PC. Can internet cencorship put an end to this?
2. The Alaba boys! Believe me, they are making the matter worse, They make thousands of fake CDs and sell it as original in a much cheaper price. The alaba piracy business is a big industry on its own!

Piracy has infiltrated our music and if proper care is not taken, things will get out of hand, are we just going to sitback and watch? What can we do to stop this menace totally?
