The problem is not because of the ice... My MIL initially told me to use ice block/water on the injection site but I refused, fast forward to 4 days later, the leg was swollen and red, I had to force myself to do it and it stopped after some days.
You should find out from your doctor and please be fast about it.
Thanks mama

I think your baby is reacting to those injections and it's not a ice or no ice matter.
These injections ie vaccines contain the very "component" that signals infection only that the component that causes virulence (sickness) has either been removed or weakened or killed and sometimes another kind of component is added. . Now if your baby is responding so harshly at the site of entry then you may have some reading to do before going for the next immunization.
Or there may be a reason she's developing something that I might want to call an abscess ( I am not a doctor o, and I havent seen this swollen thigh).
Go back to the Dr and demand for an answer. But first, you must have a list of what you think could be wrong.
It could range from a weak immune system to allergy to one of the contents to the rubbing to the ice.

I hope you also know that some people's skin don't like injections or needles at all, when they try to pierce their skin.... Some stuff grow out cos of it.
Just do your own research and table it in front of your doctor let him rule out the impossibles and ponder over the probables.

Good luck
Noted. Thanks mama

Please why are people saying no ice? Its called a cold compress. You do not apply the ice directly. You're to wrap it in a wash cloth, test that its not too cold by pressing on your skin before you press down on baby's injection site. It's what i did for mine or else you'll let the injection site heal hard like that. They say Dont rub the injection site because they dont want to introduce infection into the wound. You can also apply (not rub) a little mentholatum to the site. I did mentholatum in the mornings, cold compress in the evenings. This is after i had left it untouched for almost 5 days and it wasnt getting better and even looked red. Do cold compress so you dont wait for it to get complicated. It can happen with any nurse, it could be a vaccine reaction but just incase ask the nurse to be gentle when next you go.
Thanks ma'am

Liftedhands is right. Never touch or rub or apply ice on the injection area. That was the instruction I was given at the hospital.

During bath time, do not do anything to the injection area. Do not massage with hot or warm or cold water. Just bath her as normal. Do not also check after a few days to see if the area is "hard". If it's swollen, it will be very visible to the eyes. A little swelling is normal but if it's really swollen or there's a discharge of pus, then take your child to the hospital.

Try this method this time (no touching, no massaging or ice) and see if it works. Give your baby paracetamol a few hours before she's immunised. Do not allow the nurse rub the injection area after administering the vaccine. All she is to do is apply a small plaster over the injection site (the plaster usually falls off on its own within a day).

Finally, if the swollen, pain and discomfort from the previous injection sites persists, then take her to another hospital to seek a second opinion. She might actually need mild antibiotics or a topical cream to apply on the injection area to get rid of the swelling and discomfort.

P.S. If I was in your shoes, I will take the child to a different hospital to get her followup immunisation. I won't be comfortable with the fact that it took weeks for the child to recover from the previous injections. Some unscrupulous hospitals are known to store the vaccines wrongly or administer expired vaccines.
Wow, thanks so much, will definitely follow your advice

Liftedhands:
PLEASE DO NOT PRESS AND DO NOT APPLY ICE! DONT! NEVER! pleaseeeee. I wish you had come here to ask before now.

If the thigh is still sore you can push it forward for another week or two.

See if you can ask another personal to administer it incase the previous person hand is "hard".

Give pcm if there's temperature hike and place a wet wash cloth on the injection site.

That thigh may need to be checked out by a doctor if it's still painful as you've said.
Really? No ice? It was even the pead that advised I put ice so that the swelling will go down, it is well o. I took her to the hospital cos of the pain and hardness, they had to do ultrasound of her thigh and they said everything is fine that with time the hardness will disappear but until now, it hasn't. The person that administered her 6 weeks was different from the 10 weeks own and still the same thing happened, that's why I'm worried.
Thanks so much for your response, I really appreciate.
NO ICE AGAIN

Mamas, pls come to my aid, my baby will be going for her 14 weeks immunization next week and I'm already scared cos our experience during the 6 & 10 weeks is not pleasing at all. Her thigh got swollen at both occasions and it took weeks, not days before the swollen part goes down and it has make that part of her thigh to be black maybe cos of the ice I'm putting, I don't understand, the two injections for her 10 weeks was even given to her on one thigh cos the other thigh was still swollen and painful at that time. I always use ice on the spot immediately I discover it's swollen but it doesn't go down on time, the next day it becomes red and more swollen and she cries so much if I mistakenly touch it. Pls mamas what can I do to avoid this same occurrence next week cos presently the thigh she took the injections for 10 weeks is still paining her. Do I need to press very well after injection or what? Pls sabi mamas, come to my aid, don't jump and pass pls

Lol. I just tire for the matter. I really don't know how I want to do my son. Everyone is on my neck to get a job.
@XX01 As I read this story I just became weak. The day I dropped ds on my couch to quickly get food to get and he fell face down on the tiles I cried and didn't eat the food again. I couldnt forgive myself until my dh talk me out of it. If it was someone I would've finished that person. At times when I remember the incident I still cringe. My dear, God will help the child get himself back (innocent children God will forgive all these nannies). My DH senior colleague lost his son cos of nanny. She took the baby to the neighbors house and the baby crawled to where rat poison was and drank it. Started bringing out foam from his mouth before they could rush him to the hospital he died. The man's family is upset with the wife asking her what money is she looking cos she went to work when it happened.
OMG!!! This is serious, rat poison? May God save us from devilish nannies

What's the color of the poop?
When did u notice d mucus?
Did u change ur diet?
Mucus in poop could be a sign of infection, or caused by foremilk-hindmilk imbalance (baby doesn't finish sucking one br.east before switching to another).
The colour of the poop is still yellow but not as bright as before.
I noticed the mucus the day she started the everyday pooping but I think the quantity of the mucus is increasing.
Didn't change my diet but I ate one kain beans that made me purge last week, I thought that was the cause but it's been a week now, it should have stopped I think.

Pls mamas, don't read and pass, my EBF baby poops during feeding or immediately after feeding, like 4 to five times daily, she just started this trend like a week ago, before then, she can go up to a week without pooping, she just changed suddenly and started pooping daily. Pls is this normal, she's 9 weeks. I also noticed mucus in her poop.

The swelling takes time to go down . Just continue to manage your baby. As long as the place is not showing sign of infection it will improve.

@naomi14, no one told me sleep go hard person like this! I love my darling but mehn thank God for grandma. All may mommies, sorry its coming late but here's my BS @customised87 @yacaa

So i was induced at 38 weeks. Yes i did not wait for labour to kick in, for health reasons and because i dont understand the waiting for 40-42weeks sef! I had two sets of gynaes, the highrisk ones wanted me to wait while they monitor things every week while the regular gynae agreed with me that since baby n i are fine and full term then why wait for any chance that it might change in two weeks.

-So they induced me with an insert called cervidil, they placed it on my cervix for 12 hours. It looks like a short tape rule, they will push it in and leave it for 12 hours till they take it out. I was 0.5 before they started and by 12hours later, i was ordinary 2cm. Contractions had started after like the first 2hours and had been coming closer. To occupy my time i was counting the contraction time with my mom so my husband left us to come back when it was like 10hours time.

They took out the implant at 12hours and started oxytocin IV, this was 12.30am. By 1am, 2am i kept standing up to vomit but nothing was coming out, i wanted to poop too, nothing. By 4am, contractions were like 3mins apart and super painful so i beg nurse to check again and im just 4cm. I think my brain got hot when i heard that. I was thrashing with the pain and ordinary 4cm?!? Nurse had promised to give me epidural by 4cm so i was screaming where's my epidural. She said she would call the anaesthesiologist and prep me and that's how she was doing that outside n wasting time when i told hubby i feel like im pushing. I was shouting the pain doesnt stop, why is there no break, the pain keeps coming. I was thrashing by now. My mom says her heart broke knowing she couldnt help me.
So my husband calls my nurse to say she says she's pushing. My nurse says thats not posdible she's just 4cm. So she checks again and screams OMG! ure 9.5cm. Im shouting where's my epidural. She says honey if you sit up for epidural this baby is falling out. I tell her she lied to me, we had a deal, 4cm-epidural, im crying now. She presses all the panic buttons that she needs all the doctors now, her patient just jumped to 9.5cm. Before the doctors come, she gives my mom one leg n my husband the other to hold. Like 5minutes later they're saying they can see the head, which head? I turned to my husband, is it true? He says yes its true i should push again n he's smiling. Minutes later my princess, my lil Matilda arrives after 5am.

grin
Wow!!! Welcome namesake, kisses to you

Watch what you eat and take a lot of water, you can also take fruits and vegetables so baby can get it thru Br.eastmilk...

Pls do not be tempted to 'shook' anything inside baby bumbum to help him/her poop.
Thanks ma'am, will definitely take some fruits

Good morning experience mother's
I'm here again oooo.
I need your help and advice.
My two weeks old and some days baby would not just sleep in the night. Like starting from 10pm till like 4am.....he won't sleep, he would be crying. When I breastfed him, he would do as if he is sleeping but once I put him to bed, he start to cry . I can rock him for hours. He won't blink an eye. He can breastfeed like 2 hours at a go.
Its frustrating. I hope someone can relate with what I'm saying. Please what can I do.
I thought new born will just eat and sleep.
And also the way his nose sounds like someone that has catarrh but nothing is coming out from the nose oooo.
I need help. HELP A FIRST TIME MUM
