cheesy cheesy..you are very funny, thesame Nigeria that experiences power outage a lot during raining season cos of excuse of wind storm falling electricity poles as we are made to believe here? Give credit to whom credit is due. Power supply was reasonable under Barth. I can recall having almost 24/7 power with few minutes interruption then.
I had atleast 18 hours daily under Barth

Do you know Otedola has many power plants , likewise Davido's dad?
But they won't come out to talk or boast like your educated illiterate blodas.
Name the power plants. I guess none is more than 12.5 MW (which is the highest). Ordinary traders in Ariaria market Aba built 9.5 MW IPP which Buhari commissioned in 2019.

Your blodas are known for celebrating mediocrity.

Otedola has many power plants, likewise Davido's dad.

Look at Barth Nnaji talking loosely like an illiterate.
So, 8.8 MW IPP that litters Lagos is not mediocrity? Ordinary traders in Ariaria market in Aba built 9.5MW to power their market without making noise. All the IPPs in Lagos has 47MW combined capacity. But according to a Yoruba man, 197.5 MW 1(88 MW + 9.5MW) is mediocrity while 47MW is not.

Abeg, the way people hype this project, how is it different from all the IPPs all over Nigeria?

Would Barth Nnaji's company be replacing all the feeders (distribution, transformers, e.t.c) because that's where alot of the power failure happen. Would people be forced to pay power bills especially those that consume alot e.g. the welders and other people that draw alot of current?

I know this particular one has been in the pipeline since the days of Yar'Adua.
It's the only integrated power project in Nigeria.

It generates it's electricity

flokii:
To be very honest, I don't consider North as enemies of Yorubaland cos if you check well, they are also victims and have tried several times to break away from Nigeria especially after the first bloody Igbo coup of 15th January, 1966 that wiped off so many prominent Northerners from the face of the earth.
The real culprits behind the misfortunes in Nigeria are Ironsi, Azikiwe and their kins who didn't want regional government but unitary government so they can be in control of all region's resources in Nigeria at the centre.. The Northerners only took the structure the SEners created, reason we are where we are today.

Even up till this 2024, they'll continue to make efforts to ensure we don't achieve restructuring with the hope that they'll one day grab the presidency and dominate all other Nigerians. While others are thinking of ways to move forward, all they want is stagnation where they'll be calling the shots over everyone.
So SE is the reason you have failed to restructure the country after producing a Head of State, 2 Presidents and a VP?

Commissioning of 24/7 electricity really pained you people. We love the tears. Keep it flowing

Yes sir I'm ok it's not easy to think outside the box u get

But if they ban all this people the pressure on the government for constant electricity would increase which would lead to more investment and generally improved power

It unconventional yes but would it work? Yes sir
It would not.

If you ban all alternatives, it'll put too much pressure on the national grid, which will make power more epileptic.

And by the time government will fix it, you would have ended up destroying the economy.
Politics / Re: Celebration As Geometric Aba IPP Turns On 3rd Turbine by IamAtikulate: 11:48am On Feb 26
SoNature:
Aba people should pay their power bills because electricity is not cheap. Most of us clamour for 24/7 power supply but we don't even know that we cannot afford it.

Geometric should supply its own meter and have a system for tracking power supply and bills because you cannot stop a Nigerian from bypassing their meter, especially when power supply is steady. If you refuse to pay your power bill, you will run Geometric out of business.

BTW, other states with gas should also emulate Geometric Energy. We should gradually end this national grid nonsense. Every state should start generating, transmitting and distributing power.

Congratulations to them!
We will pay boss, relax.

I know how much I am paying monthly for steady power supply. I always make to set the money aside before anything else each month

Politics / How Tinubu Dollar Policy Is Making People Rich by IamAtikulate: 9:02am On Feb 26
I'll go straight to the point.

1. Dollar was almost #2000 a week

2. It started falling and got to around #1,570+ yesterday. People bought the dip.

3. Just this money it got to #1,670+

Those who bought $10,000 during the dip (yesterday) will make a profit of #1,000,000 just within 24 hours.

Whatever these guys are doing is not working.

Fluctuations like this is very dangerous to the economy. It encourages speculators.

And fixing this is very simple.

1. Stop floating the dollar.

2. Peg it at it's true market value and adjusts accordingly to changing market dynamics.

3. Ban street BDC operations.

4. License and encourage P-2-P operations.

Once you peg the dollar and hold it constant for a month, speculators will no longer have incentives to hoard dollars.

They will inject them back into the system by selling.

Ngozi Okonjo was able to lower our inflation to a single digit, 9% to be precise. And some of what she did was to peg the exchange rate.

Buhari started floating the FX rate around July 2016, a year after Jonathan left power. Naira lost over 57% of value within his 8 years rule.

Around 2021, Buhari stopped floating the dollar and pegged it, abandoning FX unification.

This is what we said when Bloomberg asked him why in 2022.

"The exchange rate is still susceptible to external shocks that can suddenly and severely affect Nigerian citizens.

As we (Nigeria) step up domestic production – both in fuel (enabled by PIA) and food (agricultural policies) – the inflationary threat shall diminish, and we can move toward unification."
It seems Buhari, a soldier, understands economics more than Tinubu, a first-class accountant.

Politics / Re: Now That Aba Is About To Have 24/7 Electricity... by IamAtikulate: 9:56pm On Feb 23
seborrhic:
Uhm!
I repeat, why don't we wait till this 24hours supply is got.

Has there been a test run?
It's guaranteed. The Plant generates 188 MW, which is enough to power Aba. The city currently gets a maximum of 50 MW from the national grid. So an additional 188 MW from Geometric and 9.5 MW embedded electricity from Ariaria Market Independent Power Plant will give the city steay supply.

seborrhic:

What are the modalities for changing from the present National grid to this Geometric and can the power be seaminlessly evacuated to Aba electric?
You're uniformed.

Aba has already transitioned from Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to Aba Power Limited Electric (APLE or just Aba Power). This is the same company that will handle the distribution of Geometric power. Aba Power is a subsidiary of Aba Geometric Power.

To ensure the city doesn't experience downtime when transitioning to Geometric Power, the planners gradually removed Aba from EEDC to Aba Power. For over a year now, Aba Power has been distributing power in Aba.

seborrhic:

Finally, what is the pricing model like because I am pretty sure that to repay debts and run the station, the cost of power from Geometric would be higher.
The cost of power from Geometric will be higher because they will be providing 24/7 electricity. But the cost will likely be cheaper per kwh.

seborrhic:

So if this cost is say 2-3times the present cost of the Gencos,Aba electric may decide to stick to the present Gencos, what then happens to Geometric.
Geometric owns Aba Power and that company now has license to distribute power in Aba. If you think your billing is getting too much, then get a prepaid meter and pay for only what you use.

seborrhic:

In summary, yes that a 495MW electric power plant is about to be commissioned, which should be celebrated, does not automatically translate to uninterrupted power supply in Aba.
There are still many hurdles to cross
There are no hurdles to cross. Yes, if Geometric Power runs at full capacity, which they will certainly do, Aba will experience near-uninterrupted power. Anyways, the plant capacity is 188MW.
