Willie2015:Dangote didn't cause the devaluation of the naira. Or you expect him to sell at the same price as before the recession? Even 30 naira paracetamol is now 150 in some areas bro |
Willie2015:Its business bro. The govt isn't ready to do sh*t. We have 4 refineries which are almost nonfunctional. A project like this is the country needs. And the typical Nigerian government won't do something like this even in 20yrs |
freshest4live:Yes bro. Blaming Dangote for trying to improve the economy and also make good money from it, is a way of proving the cluelessness of many Nigerians |
ajl:I didn't compare him with any other businessman here in Nigeria. He way ahead of them. Ready to take risks and expand his organisation. He has actually been trying to get into the oil business since 2007 when he bought 2 refineries and months later a new government came in revoked the deal. |
Dangote in a recent interview said contrary to popular belief, he isn't enjoying the political favours people think. He said no one can say he/she is doing him a favour in his business even the presidents of countries he has investments in. seXytOhbAd: |

He ’ s only 39 and fresh- faced, but France ’ s President Emmanuel Macron has run up a make- up bill of €26 , 000 in his first 100 days in office , offering fresh ammunition to his critics. The bill, revealed by Le Point magazine and confirmed by the presidency to AFP on Friday , was paid to a freelance make- up artist for work since the centrist took power in mid - May . It recalled an embarrassing revelation about the balding former president Francois Hollande who was forced to admit to employing a private hairdresser on a pre - tax monthly salary of nearly €10 , 000 ($ 11 , 800 ). Opponents seized on the total of the make - up bills — one for € 10, 000 s and another for € 16, 000 — with most of the French media publishing stories about the issue. “ While France is slaving away, Macron is spreading (the equivalent of ) 23 times the minimum wage on his face, ” wrote far - right strategist Florian Philippot on Twitter. A source in the presidency told BFM television that future costs would be “ significantly reduced , ” while claiming that both Hollande and former right - wing president Nicolas Sarkozy spent more on make - up . A beauty writer in Britain ’ s The Telegraph newspaper offered some tips for some cheaper male cosmetics in an article entitled “ How President Macron could save himself £8 , 000 on make - up a month. ” Many male politicians in the West wear foundation while making media appearances to counter the bleaching effect of studio lights or flash photography , as well as concealer to cover up signs of under- eye fatigue. The leak to Le Point comes at a bad time for France ’ s youngest- ever president whose approval ratings have fallen sharply since his victory in May standing in his first ever election. A recent poll showed that only 37 percent of French people were happy with his performance so far and he faces a tricky battle to ram through promised labour market reforms next month. Earlier this month, Macron ’ s wife Brigitte, his former school teacher who is 25 years older than him , joked about the difficulties of living with her youthful husband during an interview with Elle magazine. “ The 20 years of age difference… it ’ s really nothing , ” she said . “ Of course , when we ’ re having breakfast , there’ s me with my wrinkles and him looking fresh, but it ’ s like that . ”

If you want to sit ringside for the most hyped up fight of all time, you’re going to pay for the privilege. Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena is the venue for the Mayweather / McGregor showdown, and still question marks remain about whether this is good for the sport of boxing. Neither fighter will care, as they ready themselves to cash in on monster paydays, and it seems the fans don’t care much either. According to CNN tickets are still available, Tickets are still available for the fight on the T-Mobile Arena website — the cheapest is priced at $1,722 — though Friday’s weigh-in is sold out. Despite the T-Mobile Arena hosting the event, the ticketing section on its official website links out to a secondary seller where prices are up to 10 times the original value — $107,000 for a ringside seat. However, earlier this month the Los Angeles Times — citing officials connected to the public sale of tickets — said 3,000 seats were still available for sale, with another 4,000 tickets available on the secondary market. Let’s do some rand calculations – cheapest ticket at $1 722 is R22 685. You want ringside you fork out $107 000, which is – wait for it – R1,4 million. By the way a signed Conor UFC fight glove is being flogged for R6 500 by a chap in Muizenberg, if that’s your thing – details HERE. In case you’re looking for a little side by side comparison, this is a decent start: I know it’s a little pixelated but how about that second figure – CNN reckon Floyd could make $400 million from the fight, and Conor up to $127 million. Something you might not expected – turns out the Mayweather / Manny Pacquiao fight back in May 2015 was more popular on ticket resale website StubHub: “Mayweather vs. McGregor is so far the second best-selling fight ever on StubHub, after Mayweather vs. Pacquiao,” a StubHub spokesperson told CNN. “To date, ticket sales figures show that sales for Mayweather vs. Pacquiao outsell Mayweather vs. McGregor by over 10%. “However, Mayweather vs. McGregor is attracting a slightly more international crowd, with 14% of sales coming from outside the US, compared to 12% for Mayweather vs. Pacquiao.” Much like how we have seen football transfers go bonkers off the back of Neymar’s move to PSG, some experts are wondering aloud about what comes next after a fight like this. I’m pretty sure you can put your money on Floyd bowing out 50-0, so it may be a while until we see such a hyped up event again. See you at around 4:30AM, Sunday morning – how and where to watch HERE. [source:cnn] In case you’re looking for a little side by side comparison, this is a decent start: |

Restructure your minds, hearts not the country – APC tells NigeriansPublished on August 25, 2017 By John Owen Nwachukwu The youth caucus of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has said Nigerians need to restructure their minds and hearts and not the country. The group also demanded the immediate arrest of perpetrators of hate speeches in the country. The caucus made the call through its Chairman, Comrade Markk Joseph Nsimbehe. It said the group supports all the core issues as stated by President Muhammadu Buhari in his Monday’s nationwide broadcast. He told reporters in Abuja, “We are in support of every effort targeted at unifying all the ethnic nationalities. We are for peace, we are for progress and we are one Nigeria. “We urge the federal government to step up and arrest these disgruntled elements and their sponsor accordingly. “We acknowledged the effort of the federal government for wanting to establish special court for hate speech. “We urge those clamouring for restructuring to take a second look at it while channeling their reasons for the call to the appropriate quarters. Political structures evolve over time. “Nigeria has been restructured at various times and the agitations have not stopped. Let us therefore restructure our hearts and minds so that the real restructuring of the country can be meaningful.”

Nigerian banker and philanthropist Tony Elumelu has donated $500,000 to Sierra Leone to help alleviate the suffering of people affected by flood and mudslide in the country. Elumelu made the donation to Sierra Leonean President Ernest Bai Koroma on Wednesday during a visit to the West African country. Along with former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, Elumelu visited survivors at the Connaught Hospital, the principal adult referral hospital in Freetown, the country’s capital. “I was deeply moved by what I witnessed today and have therefore donated $500,000 towards the rehabilitation & recovery efforts,” Elumelu said via his Twitter handle. Elumelu called on other wealthy individuals and organizations around the world to support relief efforts in Sierra Leone. The Nigerian philanthropist also called the attention of international media to the Freetown floods and bemoaned the fact that the world’s major news organizations have not given significant media attention to the crisis. “All lives whether on the African continent or elsewhere are the same and should attract the same media attention and human sympathy,” Elumelu said. More than 3,000 people lost their homes in last week's mudslide in Sierra Leone, which killed at least 499 people, with more than 600 still missing. There is still no precise figure on the total number of victims. Three years ago, Elumelu donated about $300,000 towards Ebola containment and relief across Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia.

What I actually mean by unbreakable here is that the phone automatically fixes its screen when broken. Motorola is looking to manufacture smartphones with screens that can be fixed automatically. This is clear from a patent that has been presented by the company, which describes a new technology for the screens of mobile phones to repair itself. Materials used in manufacturing smartphones have evolved rapidly and improved so much. However, the screen continues to be one of the most fragile components that suffer the most from the impacts and it breaks more frequently: just a fall from a couple of meters is enough to crack the display. It's going to take a while before we see these kinds of devices available for purchase. The patent presented by Motorola shows a system that allows the screen of a smartphone to repair itself. The company used a shape-memory polymer material that has the ability to fix cracks or deformations it experiences when heat is applied. This compound would be used to cover the glass panel of the mobile, which would become a self-repairing screen. The phone will be programmed to detect scratches on the screen, cracks, deformation or abnormality of the screen. Once the problem is detected, you will get an alert that will warn you of what happened, giving you the option to start the repair. In addition, you can also manually indicate to the system the damages that it finds in the glass. This will be made possible by a system that applies heat to the screen from inside the smartphone, activating the shape memory properties of the protective film of the glass. According to the patent text, this technology is also not magic, so the final result after the repair is not perfect, but would be useful for minor flaws. The only way to see the effectiveness of the system is when Motorola decides to develop the prototype of the patent. So what do you think?

A tree-dwelling cannibal tribe who had no idea that other people existed until the 1970s, has been unveiled in Indonesia. The Korowai people of West Papua in Indonesia These incredible images reveal Indonesia’s tree-dwelling cannibal tribe who had no idea other people existed until the 1970s. The pictures show the Korowai people of West Papua in Indonesia building their treehouses, marching off to hunt and carrying their children in huge nets over their shoulders. A Korowai woman carrying her child in a net in amazing pictures taken 17 years ago Other striking shots show one tribesman with an enormous nose ring, mothers tending to their children near open fires and a traditional meal of sago larvae. The candid photographs were taken by Eric Baccega in 2000 – but they have only just come to light. A man climbing to his house on a ladder cut out in a trunk; the tribe live in the tall trees of Western Papuasia, Indonesia The Korowai, also called the Kolufo, are the people who live in south-eastern West Papua in the Indonesian Province of Papua, close to the border with Papua New Guinea. They number about 3,000. It is possible that the Korowai were unaware of the existence of any people besides themselves, before outsiders made contact with them in 1970. Korowai men dressed in little but a stretch of twine around their waists build a house on top of a 25-metre tree The Korowai have been reported to be cannibals but anthropologists suspect that it is is no longer practised. Recent reports suggest that certain clans have been coaxed into encouraging tourism by perpetuating the myth that it is still an active practice. A female member of the tribe sits at home by the fire nursing her child The majority of the Korowai clans live in tree houses on their isolated territory. Since 1980 some have moved into the recently opened villages of Yaniruma at the Becking River banks, Mu, and Mbasman. The Korowai are hunter-gatherers and horticulturalists who practice shifting cultivation. They have excellent hunting and fishing skills. The first documented contact by Western scientists with members of a band of western Korowai, or eastern Citak, took place on March 17 and 18, 1974. The expedition was co-led by anthropologist Peter Van Arsdale, now of the University of Denver, geographer Robert Mitton, and community developer Mark Grundhoefer. Thirty men were encountered on the south bank of the Upper Eilanden River, approximately 12 miles east of its junction with the Kolff River and 10 miles north of the Becking River. A basic word list was generated and observations were recorded regarding such things as fire making techniques. A mother climbs the treehouse ladder to her home with her child wrapped around her neck and holding on to her head These are the tribe’s traditional homes, perched high in the trees A tribeswoman presses out the pulp of a sago tree in the village where the tribe were once reported to practice cannibalism The majority of the Korowai clans live in tree houses on their isolated territory but since 1980 some have moved into the recently opened villages nearby ****** Culled from The Sun UK

COMPULSORY uniform outfit, popularly known as Aso ebi, has been outlawed in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). Petty lies, usually told at wedding engagement ceremony, have also been declared ungodly and banned forthwith. Wife of the General Overseer of the church and Mother-in-Isreal, Pastor Folu Adeboye made these known on Saturday at the women’s meeting, which was a part of the activities of the 65th annual convention of the church themed “Halleluyah”. She stated at the meeting that compelling members of the church to participate in Aso ebi during special programmes in local assemblies was ungodly. The news that some members of the church without financial power to buy such uniforms, were excluded from the programmes for which the uniforms were sown, was seriously repudiated by the church leadership. She noted that Aso ebi which should ordinarily be for the family, must not be elevated to the point of making it to overshadow the spiritual life of the congregants. She warned that such un-Christianly act of keeping church members out of programmes because of Aso ebi, must never be heard again among the women in the church, adding that those caught would be severely sanctioned. He stated that the concept of appearing in compulsory uniformed attire for an occasion started with the world and should not be allowed to take a firm space in the church. She also frowned on the idea of what is seen as petty lies during Christian wedding engagement, where those conducting such events would have to engage in lies to make money from the attendees. Pastor Adeboye explained that with God, there is no white or black lie, small or big lie, stating that when attendees are asked to bring air fare to fly in, an item already provided for at the event venue, those involved are simply engaging in ungodly act which is a sin. She called for moderation among Christian women, saying that their focus should be bringing halleluyah and spirituality into their homes and not engaging in the ungodly acts of the unbelievers. The 2017 convention of the church also came to a close today, with millions of worshippers gathering together on the camp along Lagos/Ibadan expressway for the week-long event. The highlights include numerous testimonies, prophesies of turn-around and victories as well as what could be tagged harvest of babies. As of 4pm on Friday, a total of 74 new births had been recorded on the camp, with the breakdown showing 43 boys and 31 girls. At the Friday Holy Ghost night attended by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, thousands of babies were also brought forth for dedication. Apart from Osinbajo, other dignitaries include Governor of Benue, Samuel Ortom, wife of Lagos State Governor, Abimbola Ambode, former Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko and his wife, Kemi, Speaker Ekiti State House of Assembly, President, Living Faith Ministry, Bishop David Oyedepo, among others. In the course of offering prayers to nations of the world led by Mrs Adeboye, special prayer for quick recovery was offered for ailing President Muhammadu Buhari. Osinbajo and other leaders, including those of Islam faith, were also prayed for. The theme for the next convention was revealed as “Dominion” by Pastor Adeboye.

A Nigerian, Emmanuel Oluwatosin Kazeem, accused of obtaining more than 125,000 stolen taxpayer identities from across the United States has been convicted in federal court in Oregon. He was found guilty on 19 counts of mail and wire fraud, aggravated identity theft and conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud. A jury in Medford returned the verdicts Friday against Emmanuel Oluwatosin Kazeem, 34, who lived most recently in Bowie, Maryland. Prosecutors say Kazeem bought over 91,000 of the identities from a Vietnamese hacker who got into a database belonging to an Oregon company called CICS Employment Services. Most of the personal information belonged to people living in Oregon and Washington and were used to file fraudulent tax returns between 2012 and 2015. Over 2,800 fraudulent returns were linked to Kazeem with attempted refunds in excess of $26 million and actual losses to the federal government of nearly $7 million. IRS criminal investigators traced more than 2,000 wire transfers involving $2.1 million dollars in fraudulent tax refunds wired to Nigeria by Kazeem and his co-conspirators, prosecutors said. Kazeem passed many of the identities to his co-conspirators located in the Atlanta, Georgia, area and Nigeria. He instructed them how to use the stolen personal information to get electronic filing PINs from the Internal Revenue Service in the taxpayers’ names to file tax returns. He taught them how to create fictitious W-2 wage documents and acquire and register prepaid debit cards in the taxpayers’ names to receive refunds, prosecutors said. Prosecutors submitted evidence that Kazeem had invested more than $190,000 in cash into the recent purchase of a newly constructed home in Maryland, used $175,000 in cash to buy a townhouse in Maryland shortly before his arrest. Evidence also found monthly credit card payments of $8300 over 4 years and plans to build a hotel in Lagos, Nigeria. The verdict came at the end of a five-day trial before U.S. District Judge Ann L. Aiken. Kazeem is scheduled to be sentenced in Medford on Nov. 8. Kazeem’s son, Michael Kazeem, has pleaded guilty to an indictment and awaits sentencing. Investigators from the IRS, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the FBI and Office of Inspector General were involved in the case.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has said it had so far traced N47.2bn and $487.5m in cash and properties to a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke. According to the anti-graft agency, these were apart from “boxes of gold, silver and diamond jewellery, worth several million British pounds sterling,” discovered during a search of Diezani’s palatial residences in Abuja. The EFCC said it discovered several of Diezani’s landed properties scattered all over Lagos and other parts of the country in the course of its investigations. This was contained in an statement entitled, “Diezani Alison-Madueke: What an appetite,” jointly authored by two officers in the EFCC’s Public Affairs Directorate, Tony Orilade and Aishah Gambari. The financial crimes watchdog recalled that just on Monday Diezani’s $37.5m mansion on Banana Island, Lagos, was forfeited to the Federal Government. It said Diezani displayed uncommon temerity in illegal acquisition, when she bought a block of six units serviced apartments at Number 135 Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, “just a few hundred metres away from the EFCC zonal operations hub. The apartment has a standby power generating set, sporting facilities, play ground and a water treatment plant. The property was bought at the rate of N800m on January 6, 2012.” The anti-graft agency stated that it discovered other Diezani’s properties such as a 21-mixed housing units of eight four-bedroomed apartments, two penthouse apartments of three bedrooms at No. 7, Thurnburn Street and 5, Raymond Street, Yaba, Lagos. It said, “The Raymond Street property is made up of two en-suite two-bedroomed apartments and one four-bedroomed apartment. “The Yaba, Lagos properties, which dug a deep hole of an eye-popping N1bn were paid for on May 30, 2012. The same day Alison-Madueke splashed N900m on a Port Harcourt estate. “In Lekki Phase One, an upscale neighbourhood of Lagos, operatives found a twin four-bedroomed duplex. The duplex is located on Plot 33, Block 112, Lekki Peninsula Residential Scheme Phase 1, Lekki, Lagos, with an estimated value of over N200m. “Also in Lagos, a large expanse of land at Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos has also been traced to the former Petroleum Resources Minister. The land, which is located in Oniru Chieftaincy Family Private Estate, Lekki peninsular, Lagos and currently being utilised as a dumping site, was bought on February 16, 2012, for N135m. “Plot 8, Gerard Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, another property traced to Alison-Madueke, is a penthouse on the 11th Floor in the Block B Wing of the building. It was bought for N12m on December 20, 2011. “On Plot 10, Frederick Chiluba Close, in the serene, upscale Asokoro district of Abuja, lies a tastefully-built and finished duplex. In the compound, there are also a Guest Chalet, Boys’ Quarters, an elegant swimming pool, fully-equipped sports gym and a host of other amenities. Investigators have discovered that the property was acquired by the ex-minister in December, 2009, at the cost of N400m but it was never declared in any of the asset declaration forms filed by Alison-Madueke. “Also linked to the former Minister in Abuja is a mini estate at Mabushi, Abuja. The estate located on Plot 1205, Cadastral Zone B06, Mabushi Gardens Estate, houses 13 three-bedroomed terrace houses, each with one bedroom en-suite maid’s quarters. It was purchased on April 2, 2012 at the princely sum of N650m. “In Aso Drive, Maitama, Abuja, Alison-Madueke reportedly acquired a six-bedroomed en-suite apartment made up of three large living rooms, two-bedroomed guest chalets, two-bedroomed Boys Quarters, two lock-up garages and a car park. It was bought on July 20, 2011 for N80m.” Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun
