desiredhome:Ok. I think we're done with this discussion. Let it be as you understand |
OkCornel:Bros you have set your mind not to understand but to argue endlessly. I think I have to leave you now. Liverpool vs Manchester United coming up. Cheers. |
OkCornel:It's difficult trying to explain things to you. Tithes are taken to the house of God. This is the inheritance of the Levites. Every tribe had an inheritance of lands except the Levites so whatever comes into the house of God belongs to the Levites. God gave the instruction that this be done, that this is their portion. That same God also gave the instruction that in as much as He said that tithe be paid to God's house that every third year, the proceeds of that particular year alone be shared amongst LEVITES (whose inheritance it is) first as stated and then to fatherless and widows. The tithe don't belong to the needy or fatherless since they don't receive it all the time or in the first two years. In the third year, the Levites who owns the tithe still gets it and also extend to the needy as the Lord instructed. This is done only ONCE in three years. It's a form of intervention program like we have it today. |
OkCornel:Bros you don't just pick a verse and base your assertion on it. What did the verses preceeding that say? Read from the first verse and you'll understand how verse 7 came to be. 2 Corinthians 9 vs 1-7 1 There is no need for me to write to you about this service to the Lord’s people. 2 For I know your eagerness to help, and I have been boasting about it to the Macedonians, telling them that since last year you in Achaia were ready to give; and your enthusiasm has stirred most of them to action. 3 But I am sending the brothers in order that our boasting about you in this matter should not prove hollow, but that you may be ready, as I said you would be. 4 For if any Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we—not to say anything about you—would be ashamed of having been so confident. 5 So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to visit you in advance and finish the arrangements for the generous gift you had promised. Then it will be ready as a generous gift, not as one grudgingly given. 6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. |
desiredhome:First of all, tithing wasn't part of the law given to Moses. It existed before the law came. Abraham was recorded to have paid tithe, Jacob also stated he would pay tithe. Talking about the old law (Law of Moses) not all the law was thrown away. The OP mentioned some. One of the laws said you don't marry your kin, do you marry your kin today? Now Read that verse again 23 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. Let's dissect. You give a tenth (tithe) of your spices You neglected the more important matters of the law - justice, mercy and faithfulness. He went further to say "you should practice the latter", what's the latter? Practicing important matters of the law - justice, mercy and faithfulness WITHOUT NEGLECTING the former, what's the former here? The tenth (Tithe). Meaning you don't neglecting the paying of tithe. Of course the greatest commandment is love Here's Matthew 22 vs 36-40 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Love is not the greatest commandment but rather loving the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind, which is the first and greatest commandment. How do you talk about loving God which is the greatest commandment without obeying his word on paying of tithe according to Malachi? |
OkCornel:28 At the end of every three years, bring all the tithes of that year’s produce and store it in your towns, 29 so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance of their own) and the foreigners, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. Here's another version of the verse. The practice back then was that after every three years, all the tithes of that particular third year be brought and stored in towns so that the Levites, foreigners, fatherless and others as stated in the verse may come and eat. This practice is done only ONCE very three years. So let me ask you, what happens to the tithe the first two years? The tithe is not given to the poor or fatherless or widows but taken to the house of God as Malachi stated. The Federal government has been giving out tradermoni to traders and some other help to the poor in the society, these are intervention programs which is being done with tax payers money. That's exactly what's happening in that verse you quoted, after every three years, the tithe (tax) of the produce of that particular third year is given to the Levites, widows, fatherless and foreigners, it's a form of intervention program And to your other question, like I once stated, there are different types giving in the church, there's offering, there's giving for building of the house of God, there's giving to the needy and poor and these are given as one decides in his/her heart. Tithe on the other hand is an obligation to the house of God which you PAY just like every citizen of a country is obligated to pay tax to the govt. You don't pay your tax as you decide, you pay your tax according to what you earn, so it is with your tithe. You don't decide what you give as tithe, you give a tenth of what God has given you. This is simple. |
OkCornel:Now you're confusing giving to PAYING of tithe. Giving of offering, giving to the poor and needy is as you will in your heart. Tithe is not yours, you don't give it, you PAY it. Just like you PAY your tax to govt, tax isn't your money to keep, it is compulsory and mandatory you pay it. So it is with tithe. Mind you, no pastor has the right to force you to pay your tithe, they can only teach you and remind you of your obligation to the house of God, the Spirit of God within you is the one to compel you to do the needful. |
paxonel:Of course that concerns us in the New Testament. Go read Hebrew 7. After reading then we can discuss. Tithing existed before the law of Moses. Some on the laws of Moses were put to stop in the New Testament like the OP said, Matthew 23:23 also confirmed that Jesus still approved the paying of tithe. |
pmadise:I missed on the ceiling fan. |
TheGreenLand:What sheriff? You mean the body odour and lifeless person? |

With barely 70 days to the 2019 general elections, Ivotesng can report authoritatively that no cash has been released to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), a situation which has made it difficult for the Commission to redeem commitments to vendors Ivotesng reports that President Buhari had on Friday withheld assent to the electoral act amendment bill which would have allowed the Commission deploy modern ICT gadgets to curtail incidences of rigging. But more worrisome, Ivotesng gathered is that the commission has been starved of required funds to enable it prepare appropriately for the poll. It was gathered that the back and forth over where the cash meant for the 2019 election will come from has delayed the release. “Following the insistence of the National Assembly that the funds should come from parts of the SIP , the govt is finding it difficult raising the needed funds,” a presidency source told Ivotesng. The source said though President Buhari has given approval for the funds to be raised but the bureaucracy that is involved is taking too long . “the approval took over two weeks on the table of permanent secretary in charge of finance. So far, no cash has been wired to INEC,” the source confirmed. http://www.ivotesng.com/2018/12/09/2019-funds-yet-to-be-released-to-inec-two-months-to-election/ |
Always found supporting the wrong cause. |
Patrioticman007:Did you say scarce resources called land? The north has the highest share of the total landmass in Nigeria so which scarce land are you talking about? |
netpro:The so called FG land belong to the indigenous people of the state they're located before it became FG land. The FG land is the collective resource of the people of Nigeria and you don't hand it over to a certain group. We know those who are predominantly herders and these land will be going to them. If they want cattle ranch then it should be situated in the North. |
clarocuzioo:Unlike some other party that won't let us rest from their squabble. |
netpro:No one is saying it isn't a profitable business but FG can't take land belonging to a state in the name of FG land and give it out to herders. Trust me it's going to be really resisted. |
Legalese:This act by Channels TV further give credence to the rumor that they were paid 19 billion to promote and protect the interest of Buhari and APC. |
aalangel:You actually saw through their evil scheme and cover up. |
seunmsg:You believed Magu was edited into the video and that he was not actually at the event? |
thatigboman:It appears Magu was there but Channels TV is trying to cover it up by claiming that their video editor mistakenly doctored him into the video. |
Channels TV keep showing how partisan they've become. No more credibility. Smh This act by Channels TV further give credence to the rumor that they were paid 19 billion to promote and protect the interest of Buhari and APC. |
A Channels Television broadcast showing Ibrahim Magu, the acting head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, attending a political event to strategise toward President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election was an editing mistake by one of the broadcaster’s video editors, the station’s chairman and founder, John Momoh, has told PREMIUM TIMES. Mr Magu was depicted as having been a part of the consultative meeting organised by the National Committee of Buhari Support Groups at Nicon Luxury, Abuja, during the 10:00 p.m. bulletin of the Lagos-based broadcaster. PREMIUM TIMES ran a story based on the video which ran on Wednesday night. Also at the meeting as broadcast by Channels were Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Bola Tinubu. Mr Osinbajo represented Mr Buhari, who has been away in Europe for a climate change summit. But following protests from Mr Magu and his associates that the anti-graft chief was not present at the event, which would have portrayed him as a partisan law enforcement agent, Mr. Momoh has now admitted to PREMIUM TIMES that Mr Magu was in fact absent at the event, but that a mix-up in visuals by an editor triggered the wrong impression. Mr Momoh, who is currently travelling abroad, said he reached out to the reporter who filed the story, and she narrated what transpired. She said as soon as she returned from the APC event, she handed over her recording to an editor who then erroneously added an old footage of Mr Magu, leading viewers to believe the EFCC official was present at the APC event. Mr Momoh told PREMIUM TIMES his company would be reaching out to Mr Magu to explain the editing glitch that occured and apologise for the inconveniences the error may have caused him. PREMIUM TIMES also reported that some persons said they saw Mr Magu at Nicon Luxury Hotel venue of the event, but a spokesperson for the anti-graft chief said this might have been earlier on Tuesday when he visited a relative who was staying at the hotel. “The only thing he went to Nicon Luxury for was to see his relative, and he immediately left for Lagos where he met with some newspaper editors,” EFCC spokesperson, Tony Orilade, told PREMIUM TIMES Wednesday afternoon. “He left for Lagos around 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday after going to Nicon Luxury to see a relative who was ill.” Reacting to the publication Wednesday night, PREMIUM TIMES’ Editor-in-Chief, Musikilu Mojeed, said CHANNELS has for years been one of the most credible sources of news in our country. “This unfortunate error teaches us that news organisations must consistently strengthen and review their gatekeeping process,” Mr. Mojeed said. “However, newsroom managers are human and errors are bound to occasionally occur no matter how careful they try to be.” https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/299378-video-showing-efccs-ibrahim-magu-at-apc-event-an-error-channels-tv.html

Alexis11:But you would rather we continued with the 2 men Aisha talked about, right? |
annnikky:Exactly and also loot as much as they can while they're in power. I can only imagine the atrocities going on there. |
annnikky:It's just crazy. This thing coming from Aisha shouldn't be taken lightly at all but what do we have, like you said, bunch of selfish set of people and brain dead followers who can't think for themselves. |
After watching the video on Aisha Buhari's revelation of 2 or 3 men running Nigeria, why are people still hellbent on voting for Buhari again? Let's all agree that Buhari is a man of integrity like you all want us to accept, Aisha (Buhari's wife) has, a number of times, come out to tell Nigerians that her husband Buhari is not in charge of the country, why do APC supporters want these men to continue running the country? Why always turning deaf ears to the cry of Aisha Buhari? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzxFaqZPwgc |
somehow:That it can't buy anything in the south doesn't mean it can't buy anything in the North. |
Afamed:Ok |
swaggzDawg:Of course it makes sense. From the poor Northerners and almajiri kids with pvc |
GistersNG:What is Shehu subliminally telling us here? |
