In those days, if a student was caught with 20 naira in school between 1993 and 1995, it was considered a lot of money.
The principal would probably want to know where it came from, and your parents might be invited to explain.

I also remembered attending a government school in Northern Nigeria. After graduation, when I went to collect my testimonial, the fee was just 15 naira.

Today, 20 naira can barely buy anything.
It's amazing and heartbreaking how much the value of money has changed within a single generation.

What was once enough to feed a family breakfast is now almost insignificant.

Sometimes, it takes the innocent words of a child to remind us just how much the world has changed.

At 45 it still beat my imagination that I get freak out by anything crawling especially snakes.
This morning while coming out from my apartment, I saw this snake crawling inside my compound while being escorted by a bird (funny scenario), I guess it came from the bush opposite my house and crawl thru under my gate.
Immediately I saw it, instead of me killing it I got freak out.

I quickly took some steps away and hurriedly went to call one of the two guys working in our hotel which is just the next house.
One of the guy said I shouldn't call him in matters of snake (my likeness)
It was the youngest guy who I am 22 yrs older than that came to kill the snake.
Even after he killed it, when snapping it with my phone, I was scared as if the snake will suddenly come back alive and hurt me.
After that, I took a stick and picked it to go throw away. Still I was afraid.

This is me that's not afraid to enter any bush or forest whether day or night.
This is me that's not afraid to enter any dangerous area or neighborhood.
This is me that's not scared of anything be it ghost, armed robbers, cultist e.t.c but snakes no matter how small it's as been my only phobia.
So guys! I'm asking, is there a way I can stop myself from being afraid of snakes? Or is it too late cus I'm too old?

We're almost the same but in my case the size is what decides my kill or flight reaction, once the snake is as big as my fist or long as 1mtr my legs be touching the back of my head running away, i guess my own was born from the day i was chased by a very long black Cobra, I'm lucky to be alive today and that has been the most terrifying moment of my life ever since i was born... I used to have a good / very churchy cousin sister like that who was unmarried till around 35 years of age.

She's good but finding a husband was extremely difficult.

The one thing I noticed from good ladies is their rude behavior.

Hear me out first. A girl can be good in that she doesn't sleep around and try to be closer to God.

But these sets of ladies tends to be rude to men who comes around.

But somehow, these ladies fail to understand that relationship is built, it first start with a show of interest, a flirt or a simple lust.

Those things they feel is a "sin" are what starts relationship.

And so, when a man approaches a churchy lady, her immediate response is always the rude one.

She want to display her "goodness" or make it known she's "pure" and not worldly.

And this most times turn most men away from them.

It's one thing to be good but it's another thing to constantly want to prove it to people.

Trust me, a man knows a good lady when he sees one. Most men knows how to treat a good woman, you constantly saying "I'm not one of those cheap girls" and so on doesn't make any difference, it only pushes the man away.

You might be saying "the genuine man" or "intentional man" will continue to pursue or apply pressure, my dear they will not.

And this is why most of you miss good men and then later in a hurry settle for men you may not like.

I've seen too many girls dodging potential and even men of substance and later settled for people way less than them.

Take my cousin for instance, the one man who was once genuinely interested in her, came with a big car.

He was big but she was young, beautiful and all "in the lord". She once said to people "he thinks I'll like him because of his cars"

When she started midnight prayers for marriage with fasting aggressively eh. It was not funny o.

Every prayer at midnight was filled with husband requests, how did I know this? Because she prayed loudly and everyone in the compound can hear it.

Who did she later settled for? A teacher! Way older than her.

Imagine a man probably at 45 years, with almost nothing going on for him.

As a lady, understand that relationship is not magical. It's not 'godly'.

I have another girl from my school. Then she was the girl every medical student wanted.

Being a good girl pays. Being a foōlish good girl trying to constantly prove a point will lead you no where.

This is also why brothers in deeper life often find it difficult to marry within the church.

I remember in one of the service the older pastor keep speaking on why brothers often go outside to marry while the sisters are 'good' and beautiful.

It's simply because these girls have become 'un-talk-to-able'.

I've learned that there are levels to these particular ladies, there are the ones that just keep to script to the doctrine of the gospel while there are others that are extreme in that they can't even stand men that don't share their perspective. I currently am dating one, she's all cool and calm, not imposing her perspective or demanding that i come totally to her ways, she's the spec i want in a woman physically, Career wise and intellectually, I've been to her house severally and seen her family, very good home, I plan on marrying her, I drink alcohol and she knows, she's not forcing me to stop, though she's at the opposing side of that spectrum but she's not imposing her perspective at all, the only thing she wants to remain virgin till she marries, me I've had girlfriends before, I've explored sex before but i don't force that ideology on her, whenever i bring up a sexually related discussion i observed that she not exposed to that area much, i bet she only knows how people kiss because she's seen it in the movies but Sex NO NO she has no idea, these confirms her virginity status to me.

I hope we keep the beautiful thing we have going because what I've learned from the knowledge I've been privileged to gather is that there's more to life than Sexual expectations, Church expectations and too much time wasting exuberance, sometimes in life you choose Someone that's going to fit into your needs and goals rather than someone that will satisfy your wants.
