I don't doubt that Nigeria MAY rise up one day. But it is a hard rise. Let us be real.

When you look at Nigeria of today and how Nigerians behave, do they look like people that can be better in the next 2000 years? This is not a curse but a sad reality.

Nigeria and Nigerians are retrogressing.

The sad part is that they are not even aware.

Look at the movies of 20 years ago and their storylines. Compare them with what is obtainable now.

Look at our women of 30 years ago. Compare them with these generation of lost souls we have now masquerading as youths.

My point is that even if Nigeria is not progressing, Nigeria should stop retrogressing.

To make it more easier for you to understand, why can't we be like UK of 200 years ago if we can't be them of today? Are you aware that UK of 200 years ago is far better than Nigeria of today?

Nigeria is sadly becoming UK of 2000 years ago when they were still savages and life had almost no meaning.

It is real.

South Africa of today is almost at the status of UK of 30 years ago. Look at Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria. Actively developing. China (Asides human rights abuses) is almost surpassing UK if they have not done that already.

Why is Nigeria going backwards? That is my point. Lagos of 50 years ago had more civilized humans. The pictures below I believe were before independence.

You can see people organised in a traffic. If this was 60 years ago, this means the humans there should even be more advanced and well behaved by now. But is this the case today?

From Ikeja to Abule Egba to Mushin to Agege to Lagos Island to Lekki to even the almighty Victoria Island. Extremely disorganised human beings.

I am using Lagos as a case study before the tribalists arrive. The vast majority of Nigeria is almost retrogressing.

For the purpose of briefly describing the social condition of the people, Southern Nigeria may be divided into two parts, the Western Province forming one, and the Central and Eastern Provinces together forming the other, The Yoruba-speaking tribes, which occupy practically the whole of the Western Province, lave attained o state of civilization many degrees higher than that reached by the numerous tribes of the other two provinces, and on this account should be considered separately.

Pride of race is one of the factors that have pushed the Yoruba onward, whilst past wars with neighbors, together with internal disruption, have asisted in making him keen, wide-awake, and comparatively energetic. Excellent ougonic marriage laws late helped him to keep down disease and maintain unimpaired the physique of his race.

It may be said of the Yoruba that he is to-day the readiest of all the tribes of Southern Nigeria, possibly in all tropical West Atrica, to adopt, and to adapt himself to, that "civilization " which British rule deems good for him.

Turning to the Central and Eastern Provinces, we find, with few exceptions, the pure-bred Inokun or Aro of the Ibo race, the Bini of the Benin territories, and the Igarra with his wonderfully organised feudal system--a congeries of tribes speaking a multitude of different languages and dialects, all in degree somewhat inferior to the Yoruba-speaking people.

Of these tribes, the lowest in the social scale are undoubtedly the Ibibios and the fishing folk of the creek region of the Nigen delta: these people have the most degraded customs, and lent lives Between these lowest
the Cross River tribes, the Efiks of Calabar, the Jekris, Ijaws, and Sobos of the Central Provinee, and the various Iho-speaking tribes of the country lying between the Niger and Cross Rivers-all of them inferior to the Yoruba of the Western Provinee, but superior in various degrees to the Ibibio and Niger delta people.

The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd), has announced that the mandate given to him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been “sufficiently achieved” with the restoration of democratic governance at the grassroots level.

Ibas made the declaration at Government House, Port Harcourt, in a statement signed by the Senior Special Adviser, Media, Rivers State Government, Hector Igbikiowubo, while receiving the report of the recently concluded local government elections from the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).

He noted that the peaceful conduct of the polls and the swearing-in of elected chairmen and councillors across all 23 local government areas directly fulfilled the presidential directive issued to him on March 18, 2025.

Fresh reports online reveal that Davido, his father Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke have allegedly been funding workers’ salaries in Osun State from their personal pockets.

This disclosure was made by former Ondo State governor, Bode George, during an interview on Nigeria Info FM Lagos 99.3.

Speaking about the withheld local government funds by the Federal Government of Nigeria, Bode George said that the trio mentioned earlier have been paying salaries of workers from their pockets for the past 6 months now.

Bode George said that Osun State has not been paid local government allowances by the Federation account, owing the state over N5billion.

He added that the last time he had a conversation with Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, he said that he is considering dumping the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

These days, students are proud to show off material things but not proud to show off their grades.

I know that exam is not the true test of knowledge and grades shouldn't be used to measure intelligence sometimes. But someone who calls himself a student and is organising an event in the name of being a student should confidently display his school results.

In most of Nigerian universities these days, even the people that cannot explain their final-year projects topics rent expensive cars to sign out after writing their final year exams. We are now in a generation where secondary school students will absolutely rely on malpractice for junior WAEC exam and go ahead to throw an expensive party to celebrate having written the exam.
