Giberomania: *ABANDONED AND FORGOTTEN: THE PLIGHT OF ITORI GENERAL HOSPITAL*
*© The Deep Thinkers*
It is a truism that "Health is wealth," and a responsible and responsive government prioritizes the health of its citizens. In contrast, the present APC-led administration in Ogun State has demonstrated a lackadaisical approach, turning a deaf ear and blind eye to the persistent health challenges faced by the citizenry. Recently, it took the intervention of the media and public outcry to prompt this administration to revitalize an uncompleted hospital project in the state capital, abeokuta, initiated by the previous government of Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
This government has consistently responded to calls for accountability with excuses, often employing political acolytes who distort facts and downplay obvious truths. In this article, I will share my recent experience in Itori and urge the government to rescue a growing population that lacks access to basic healthcare facilities.
During a recent visit to Itori, I attended a wedding that was marred by a horrific accident en route. The scene was chaotic, with onlookers fearing the worst for those involved. As we rushed to assist the victims, I asked for directions to the nearest general hospital. The responses I received were alarming. Locals, including a resident who wished to remain anonymous, expressed feelings of abandonment by the current Ogun State administration, citing the non-functional General Hospital in Itori as a prime example. Alhaji Majakodunmi, another resident, criticized the administration's focus on superficial projects and social media publicity, rather than addressing the pressing needs of the community.
These concerns highlight the growing distrust between the government and its citizens. It is imperative for the Ogun State administration to prioritize the welfare of its people, particularly in terms of healthcare, and take concrete steps to restore their trust.
The General Hospital Itori, situated in Ewekoro, Ogun State, was established by former Governor Otunba Gbenga Daniel, with the facilitation of the Commissioner for Health, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo. The hospital was designed to provide quality medical care to the people of Itori and surrounding communities, reducing the need for lengthy journeys to Ifo and Abeokuta for healthcare. Unfortunately, the hospital has deteriorated significantly, becoming overrun with rodents and ultimately being shut down without alternative healthcare provisions for the local population.
The abandonment of the hospital has had devastating consequences for the residents, particularly the most vulnerable populations: children and the elderly.
The once-thriving hospital now lies in ruins, a testament to the neglect and abandonment by the authorities. The hospital's current state is pitiful, with weeds sprouting through cracks in the walls, overgrown lawns, and medical equipment carted away. The consequences have put the health of residents at risk, with children and the elderly being the most vulnerable.
The government must take immediate action to revitalize the hospital and provide quality healthcare to the residents of Ewekoro. The people deserve access to proper medical care, and it is the government's responsibility to ensure their well-being. They love the City Boi and his Eleyi (the Fraud Boi) Let them live with their choices |

gare: The government should consider regulating or banning these new Keke buses. Many of the drivers are former Okada and Keke riders who have simply transitioned to a larger vehicle without proper training. It's unacceptable that one would crash into a stationary trailer especially on a dual carriageway, where there's no excuse involving oncoming traffic. ☝️ This! Most Keke are ex-okada, abnormally reckless drivers! They contest every inch of the service lane with vehicles and match you speed for speed, they don't know that the Keke provides only the illusion of safety & zero protection in a crash. And when they drive an actual bus they're positively suicidal |

flokii: Okay let's break it down..
In every committee, there is usually a Chairman and Co-Chair who coordinates the committee activities. It doesn't mean other members are not important, it just means one figure to conduct things and make sure the committee's goals and objectives are met.
Ohanaeze coming out to tribalize this issue is totally uncalled for. They are right to tribalise it because it's very wrong and unfair to Igbos and indeed to all other traditional rulers in Nigeria, no tribe is superior to the other it's supposed to be a federation of equals |

zeuss: You are right let's look past the fact that Oduduwa has a direct meaning in edo language but a coined guess in Yoruba. Eweka is also full edo nom, the connection to a Yoruba origin cannot be seen or perceived from a rather way but on the reverse it is palpable. It doesn't have any meaning in Edo language, what you people coined is 'Ekaladerhan' Does that sound like 'Oduduwa' in any shape or form? |

zeuss: Ife is subordinate to Benin kingdom by many centuries infact benin birthed the Yoruba monarch system. The title Oba is Benin copyright like Emir is caliphate copyright. The caliphate and Emirship is a foreign 19th century contraption Look, this is jargon Now listen very well, before Oduduwa became king in Ile-Ife, there was the Obalufe, i.e. 'King' of Ife. Oduduwa supplanted him and established the 'Yoruba' dynasty that spread out from Ife. During all this period, what they had in Benin was the Ogiso dynasty, matter of fact there was nothing like Benin in existence at that period, the Ogisos ruled over the Igodomigodo empire. Oduduwa s grandchild, Eweka was the first 'Oba' of Benin, who took the throne after his father Oranmiyan conquered the Ogisos and established an Obaship system after he'd renamed the place 'Benin' This much has been confirmed by no less than several Obas of Benin themselves, one of whom was Akenzua II (on record) Go back to Benin and learn your own history from your elders, dude |

PlasmaTV: In the last 10 years, Nigerians have been having back to back failures.
With the way our rulers rule over us, I won't lie, if I was an American, I'd be extremely racist towards Nigerians too.
Cos tell me why a country has oil but has no refinery. Has dams, but has no electricity. Has money, but has no standard of living. Has natural resources but has no public infrastructure. Has educated people, but has no educated leaders.
A country that has no tsunamis, no earthquakes, no hurricanes. But can't control simple flooding.
A country that has no natural disaster but has human disaster.
I'd be racist too, my people. There are too many evil and greedy people in Nigeria, that's why it's totally messed up Imagine, Dangote that struggled to build a functional refinery, something that FGN cannot do for more than thirty years running, some people have been trying their very best to sabotage him, just so that they can continue robbing the treasury and thereby keep their fellow citizens in acute poverty |
