I agree with Brightmon... I consider it extremely selfish that some of u go through your interviews and decide to keep mute about it- only to inquire directions to visa collection centre in Lekki. I was taught that while gratitude is d least of virtues- ingratitude is the WORST of vices. D only gratitude you owe this forum for all u have gained from it is to simply share your experiences- no matter how similar- so that others can learn and get more confident and that is why Temmy deserves all the love and accolades he's getting. Anyway, that's what I feel. That said, I want to ask those who have travelled for a rough estimate of costs from medicals up until arrival in d US. With a budget of say 350k or 400, can a single person embark on d entire process, or does he have to have millions first. Secondly, is there a basic travelling allowance- would u b required to have a minimum amount of money on u while travelling to America? If so, how much? Thanks and I'm so sorry about d long post |
I feel those with CN below 5,500 should all have gotten their 2nd NL if they submitted on time cos all things being equal, you should get interviewed next month... I want to plead that those who have gotten theirs indicate their CN range so that those who are anxious can have their anxieties relieved. I feel it is a way of being helpful on this forum... Gracias... My CN is 70** and I submitted my forms to KCC on d 7th. I still haven't gotten any Notification Letter |
Someone posted this in the 2012 room and I can't help laughing... Why on earth will someone even contemplate this? Re: Dv Lottery 2012 Winner Meet Here by sunday45: 12:52am Pls, everybody in d house. First of all, i appreciates all ur effort dumping accurate info here and i knw dat u will find solution to mine also. My friend is one of the 2012 dvlot winner bt he couldnt speak english, dont av waec result and we resemble each other. What can i do? |
Temmy, you have been a huge inspiration to me- and to others I'm sure. You have not only helped in making the picture of the DV process clearer, but have instilled a lot of courage and confidence especially in me as I build up to my interview date. I may not have dropped a lot of comments, but suffice it to say that I am moved each time I read your contributions to this forum. I wish you and yours' journey mercies and pray that you quickly settle down in the land of the free. God bless you once more. Just like the previous contributor asked, I'd like you to kindly shed some light on flight fares- especially comparing emirates and Delta and so forth and for those of us who plan to leave around christmas, is it gonna be more expensive and by what margin? |
I also came across some frequently asked questions which might interest some new followers of this thread who are a lil lazy to dig deep into earlier pages or who keep asking questions dealt with in earlier pages. Q4. After DV Lottery selection, what happens if the DV Lottery winner marries? For any changes (i.e. change of address, marriage, or new child) after winning the DV Lottery, the winner will need to update the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) detailing the new information. They will also need to pay additional immigrant visa fees for the new spouse/child. The new addition will also have to submit DS 230 forms. The US Government will closely scrutinize any marriages that occur after the Applicant has won the DV Lottery for potential fraud. Q7. What if the DV Lottery winner forgot to list his or her spouse? Failure to list your spouse will result in disqualification of the principal applicant and refusal of all visas in the case at the time of the visa interview. Entries must include the name, date, and place of birth of your spouse and all natural children, as well as all legally adopted children and stepchildren who are unmarried and under the age of 21 on the date of your electronic entry (do not include children who are already U.S. citizens or Lawful Permanent Residents), even if you are no longer legally married to the child's parent, and even if the spouse or child does not currently reside with you and/or will not immigrate with you. |
In addition to adesojiaderemi's contribution on benefits of the green card, here's something I came across and thought might shed further light: Why get a green card ? As a green card holder you have the right to apply for government-sponsored financial aid for education. You can pay less tuition for university and college, also known as "in-state" tuition or "resident" tuition. Savings in most cases are 3 to 4 times lower than what foreigners pay. You have the permission to work in any company located in U.S. territory regardless of job function, hours/week, etc. except for some companies that only hire U.S. citizens. There is no need for employer sponsorship either. Some jobs require security clearance that only green card holders and U.S. citizens can get. Therefore, a green card provides more job opportunities. It also means that you have the permission to start own business and create own corporation. You will get Social Security benefits when you retire, if you worked for 10 years (40 quarters to be precise) before retiring. You can sponsor your spouse and unmarried minor children under 21 for them to get permanent status. If you got green card for your family, it will still be valid even if you lose your job or pass away. Having a work permit, primary visa holder's spouse and minor unmarried children under 21 can stay in the U.S. as dependents. Even if you have a work permit, your child/ren have to get student visas to study and work visas to work. But, once they get a green card, they are allowed to stay in the U.S. even after turning 21 and even if they get married. Additionally, you will have access to security clearances, eligible for government grants and exempt from export restrictions. You can enjoy most legal rights under U.S. law, except for voting right which is available only to U.S. citizens. As a green card holder, you will be eligible to apply for U.S. citizenship later. It is not mandatory that you take U.S. Citizenship. You can be a green card holder forever. If your current country allows dual citizenship, you can get U.S. citizenship without giving up your current nationality. DV Lottery is one of the best way to get green card to USA. |
Sorry, which info? |
I will deeply appreciate your opinions on this: I scored 100 in my post UME and 269 in my Jamb- giving me an average of 185... I applied for psychology and have been to UNN where I was told by some staff friends that d cut off is 180 (PUME not average) and as such I can't gain entry. What do u guys think? I'm quietly optimistic tho |
By Obinna Odenigbo Cruise Nigeria can confirm that the Vice Chancellor of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) Professor Cyprain Onyeji was kidnapped earlier today (wednesday) in Agbani, Enugu State. The Vice Chancellor who hails from Aku, in Igbo Etit Local Government Area of Enugu State was abducted in broad day light by unknown gunmen. Cruise Nigeria can also confirm that one of his security details was shot in the ensuing melee, but the shot fortunately hit his arm and we can confirm that the security detail is still alive as at press time. Mrs Onyeji, wife of the abducted VC has been informed and the family is still coming to terms with what has been a horrible development. Efforts by Cruise Nigeria to reach the professor's cell phone after his abduction have proved abortive Stay with us as fresh... Source: http:///PoVPqB |
Hello guys, this forum has been most informative and from my lil experience here, i can say that anybody who religiously follows this thread will definitely not be needing any agents or any external guidance at all, for that matter. I wanna ask something- i was selected for further processing and I have sent back my forms wherein I filled my educational qualifications, (B.sc, WAEC)- I have been working for the last 5years but I didn't fill any 'working experience' in the forms I sent, because I find the 'educational' route a lot less stressful and much more straightforward. Now my question; does omitting 'work experience' not amount to 'falsification'? During the interview, if I'm asked what I have been doing since my graduation in 2007, what do I say? If I talk about my job, does that not jeopardize my chances since I did not fill it in the forms? Thank you... And oh, my CN is 2013AF000070** ; what's your guess about my interview time frame? God bless you guys |
God bless you Delafruita.... This is immense! |
Did KCC really say July? I haven't asked them, but from my following this thread, some people said they called KCC (or mailed them) and they said that from August 15th, they'd start sending second NLs to those who would b interviewed in October and so forth... Can anyone confirm KCC state July? |
Temmy, do you have any idea of the cost range of flights to d US... Can u shed light on this, if you have an idea (I'm assuming you have acquired your tickets already)... Secondly, after a successful interview, does one really need to purchase a return ticket or a one-way ticket will do? |
At Getinger: Every student is entitled to a personal transcript if you apply for your copy... I applied for a personal copy from my University and I got it. I assume you are interested in getting a transcript cos your institution has only issued you a "statement of degree" and not a "Certificate" proper... Well, that is my case and I have in turn gotten a transcript and a cover-letter (pro forma)... Now, I understand that all these are not "required" by d embassy, but I'm just taking extra precautions- and I assume that's what you're doing too... In any case, goodluck to both of us Temmy, my CN is 2013000070**, any idea of interview time frame? |
Jeje lady, thanks a mill... I already have a transcript, plus a cover letter from the school... I just wanted to make assurance doubly sure... It appears you've been interviewed before. If so, any tips? |
Thanks Temmy... I'm in d process of applying for a cover letter from school indicating my Certificate will soon b processed and that my Statement is valid... My CN is 2013AF000070** I don't know when d interview will come up, but I suspect pretty soon |
I have a problem... My degree certificate hasn't been ready in four years now. I am still using my statement of Degree result. I have been to my University so many times and they keep saying, "more cerificates will b signed later"... I'm concerned that this may affect my chances. I don't wanna forge a certificate, but I'm concerned d embassy may demand a certificate and not a statement of result. Can anyone help with advice? D Exams and Records of my school say more certificates will b signed soon, but what if they're not ready by d time of my interview? And it's been 4 long years since I graduated... Expecting ur opinions on this. Thank u |
