It said that a person running for the office of the governor can't be nominated if the contestant voluntarily acquired another citizenship, except if he nominates a deputy that doesn't meets all the requirements.

And what follows is that the same thing applies to the deputy governor, vice-versa.

So, doesn't that mean that the contestant for the office of the deputy governor can still be legally elected if the governor meets all the requirements huh huh huh

Just like how there's never been any legit recording of any of the supernatural stuff that is so prevalent here in Africa.

I'm not gonna say the supernatural doesn't exist, but just like with ETs, over 90 of it are either illusions, misunderstanding, fraud, hallucinations, etc.

Only a very, very small number of people actually experience something legit supernatural and events of those manner are very brief, spontaneous and perplexing. It may be something that can't be recorded and even if it could, you'd be too confused to react quickly.

LOL. My thoughts exactly, why is it always America? Extraterrestrial intelligence or civilization is a hoax.
It does but it's rare. Remember the Zimbabwe School UFO? That's one of the most legit ET cases and it happened in Africa. Many people outside of he school even saw the craft.

The issue is that these sort of occurrences are rare throughout the world but the reason why it's so prevalent in the west is because 90% of cases there are either misperceptions, intentional hoaxes or disinformation campaign by state agencies to trick the public.

If there was any iota of legitimacy to this story, it definitely won't be on the news and if somehow it was, they won't be joking around like this. They will in all seriousness, immediately shut this down by declaring it as balloon or test craft and the people who saw something to be hallucinating or crazy.

I don't really know what to do, i don't reside in Lagos, moreover, extra 3months!
Is it gonna get any better at all by deferring?
Yea, 3 months is a lot and the thing bothering me is what it will be used for exactly, since I saw something like the first three months being used for soft-skills training. I won't say it's their fault as when applying for the batch, they clearly mentioned it being 15 months and also using an experimental hybrid-approach (physical + online). But I had assumed the '15' months was an error and that SE will be excluded from their hybrid experiment. Notwithstanding, I signed up to dive straight into learning programming and not a whole 3 months of learning workplace jargon/soft skills!

Anyway, maybe you could try contacting them to see if they can move you to the one starting on the 22nd. That one is just the regular 12 months online-only programme, I guess.
ProgrammingRe: My Software Engineering Journey In ALX Africa by IBvoss(m): 11:35am On Apr 22, 2023
Did anyone notice the Software Engineering mail says 15 Months and not 12? And that in-person classes are also mandatory to attend. What could the extra three months be for?

When applying, I noticed the mention of them trying out a different hybrid approach (online and in-person) for the April batch but I assumed that will only be for the other programmes as they always insisted SE is online-only. Well, it's not like I have a problem with attending live classes but 3 extra months are quite long and disturbing.
CultureCan You See This? 98% Of People Can't! by IBvoss(op): 6:33pm On Apr 14, 2023
I can't remember if there was ever a time when I couldn't see them: The endless, colourful tiny flickering dots that clouded my vision whether it was daytime or not but became much more vivid and distracting during nighttime. It had caused me many sleepless night during my child years as to my then imagination, they felt very lifelike and interactive, sometimes morphing into frightening shapes and forms with the worst thing of all being that no one besides me could experience it.

Eventually, my brain developed to passively ignore them. They are still there as always, but I only notice them the instance I decide to think of it, kind of similar to breathing. We breathe all the time but normally only notice the inhaling and exhaling of air when we consciously think to. The funny thing is I thought this was how everyone saw the world until I started asking people out of curiosity and they all gave me that unbelieving 'this guy is nuts' look.

After searching online, I came across something called Visual Snow, a rare syndrome whose description almost matches what I experience and is alleged to affect 2% of the human population. Though, I'm still not 100% convinced if it's the same thing.

You know, the things that happen in the west when it comes to Christianity at times, make me think that any serious religious person would truly be scared that the devil is secretly in control already and many have fallen.

What is even scarier the deeper you look is that these Western nations in which anti-christian beliefs are becoming the norm were once the most powerful and staunch defenders of Christian doctrines and Institutions up to a few centuries ago, to the extent where anyone that didn't display strong Christian beliefs would be persecuted by them. But nowadays, it is like a 360 turnaround.

People can look at this as a natural change that time and modernity have brought, but if I were a truly religious Christian...omo...I go dey reason sey Devil don dey control the world small small to turn people away from God.

He's right to an extent. With the way things are going, Islam would outlive Christianity. Among the most core principles of Islam is their rigidity or strict adherence to preserving the authenticity of their doctrine. Though this is also why it has many problems, as people view it to be too primitive or barbaric to be in the modern era, but that perceived disadvantage is solely why it will be able to retain its actual values for many more years.
Christianity EtcRe: Methodist Bible College Fires Aaron Edwards Over Homosexuality Tweet by IBvoss(m):
This is just part of the growing evidence that old religions are dying. What has always amazed me about Religion is its so-called members who claim to be believers yet constantly go against the doctrines of their faith. You claim to worship a Deityw ho has provided you with very clear instructions on how to live, yet you blatantly go against those teachings while fully aware of what you're doing, and still claim you're a believer of that Deity and its religion.

Like seriously? How can you claim to believe in something when you live your life in contradiction to those "beliefs?" Honestly, that just means it's your mouth and not your heart with that belief. In your heart and to yourself, what you believe in is in your own way of living and doing things, and not the one that your religion preaches. If you truly believe in something, it will reflect in the way you live your life. Otherwise, you are just mentally deceiving yourself.

This is not only about Homosexuality but all the other sins such as fornication, adultery, deceit, theft, and others. You know these are sins yet you still do them without care and think nothing will happen as long as you pray for forgiveness, then continue to do the same things all over again. If you know what you're doing isn't right from the eyes of your religion, then why not just leave it and live your life the way you want without shackles.

You can never have your cake and eat it. You either commit to your religious beliefs and doctrine fully according to the scriptures or abandon it altogether if you know you aren't up for it. In the eyes of your Lord, there's no in-between yet you think say you smart pass your God abi?

Unfortunately, this applies to the majority of those claiming to be religious and their stinky hypocrisy is among the reasons why I can proudly refer to myself a free-thinking irreligious individual.
Science/TechnologyRe: New Research Could Pave Way For Human Male Couples To Have Children by IBvoss(m): 1:28pm On Mar 09, 2023
Hahaha, I love science but it's far too scary at times. If this really progresses and becomes mainstream sometime in the future, I can see all humanity evolving into sexless, neutral beings without any reproductive organs since it would reach a point where all people will just take their DNA to labs and cultivate and modify their offspring there. And when you factor in AI too and its potential to fuse with and augment our minds, it's going to be a crazy future. It may even reach a point where they'd crack the brain and be able to store and transfer consciousness to machines or biological clones, thereby eliminating the concept of death.

It's impossible to even remotely imagine what the world will be like in the next millennium or 3 milleniums after. I have a feeling that humanity will face many tribulations and will only reach that point if we can survive the universe and ourselves.

PoliticsRe: Nigerian Presidential Election 2023: Result Updates from INEC portal & Collation by IBvoss(m): 10:23pm On Feb 25, 2023
Quite an interesting election. From what I've seen so far, the Northern majority votes are gonna be close split between APC/PDP. LP has no chance in the north but going below that...whew! The LP will eat up the South-East and South-South zones and likely take the lead in the middle-belt zone.

The South-West is hotly contested between LP and APC and a bit tricky. Whoever wins it, it's gonna be a close call. But both parties will get a significant amount of votes here.

So, we can confidently count PDP out of this election because their only ground is the north, which they'll share almost evenly with APC. What I've learnt from this is that the Northern folks are very tribal and will only give their votes to northerner or Muslim. PO never stood a chance there based on those parameters.

I believe the end results will look like this:
North Majority: PDP/APC close split.
Middle Belt: LP lead, APC second.
South grin: LP lead, APC second.

From this, the only way APC will be able to win depends on their performance in the north. Even if the votes are shared with PDP, the North still has the largest number of votes. Very interesting.

PhonesRe: Best Phone Of 150k by IBvoss(m): 12:09am On Jan 11, 2023
The best phone you get for that price or even less, is the iPhone SE (2022).

It has the same processor as the iPhone 13 series, making it blazingly fast and able to play any modern game smoothly at highest settings.

Being an iPhone, it will get software support for several years and unlike 99% of phones you'll see at that price range, this one will last you for years without lagging, malfunctioning or crashing.

The battery life is also very good; will last you nearly a day with moderate usage.

The camera is also very good. At least for daytime pics, you won't find a phone that will take better pics at this price range. But night-time pictures will be poor as the phone doesn't have night mode photography.

The build of the phone is also good; standard iPhone build with premium glass back, aluminium frame and ip67 Water Resistance.

The only reason why you might not like this phone is that it carries the old design of iPhones which ended with iPhone 8 series. So, there won't be any notch or Face ID. In short, in design and size, it's almost indistinguishable from an iPhone 8.

If you can accept the old design (isn't a big deal to me) it's the perfect phone to get which will last you for a long time.

angryBullying. Mehn, the extremely high decadence of Nigerian society is really alarming. Though, I wasn't present then, I believe during the time of my parents (1960s), our society was miles better than what we have today even with their lack of technological and urban development. So many vices and evils have embedded themselves into the deepest trenches of society, cutting across citizen no matter the political, social or economic status.

Corruption, fraud, law enforcement exploitation and abuse, cultism, ritual killings, drug abuse, terrorism, kidnappings, trafficking, robbery and theft, rape and assault, promiscuity and immorality, etc. And it keeps getting worse with no signs of betterment at all.

It's just really unfortunate and sad to witness. If only from the very beginning, we just had great and visionary leaders whose drive and determination were to build this nation to realising it's full potential.

Oh well... I keep on looking forward to the day I'll be leaving this place to build a life for my self and my descendants, somewhere in a stable and driven society. No point in trying to fix something already broken. Nothing will change for the better in this country because you cannot construct a great house on rotting soil.

The citizens of this country are the soil: the foundation of this land. It's really a huge and unfunny joke if you truly think the youths of today's Nigerian society will be the solid ground that erects the bright and great, promised Nigeria we and our elders before us have all be dreaming of.
PoliticsRe: Shocking Revelations Of Lagos #EndSARS Report - Punch Editorial by IBvoss(m): 9:13pm On Nov 22, 2021

This report will be a difficult one to implement. Reason being that it was the government that ordered the invasion of the Lekki Toll Gate by the soldiers and police that led to the killings.

Highest, government will just bring in few scapegoats and display them before the court in the name of prosecution only to kill the case there.

This is Nigeria.
Exactly! Soldiers are soldiers. Their sole duty in which they are trained and disciplined for is to effectively carry out orders from their superiors, so it's impossible for them to arbitrarily make such a weighty decision of unconstitutionally firing unarmed civilians, which carries extremely significant repercussions.

Such an order can only come directly from the superior with the highest authority, the Chief of Army Staff, President Muhammadu Buhari and if you have the tiniest bit of insider information like the one I got, which came from a serving Oyo State Army General, you can be 99% assured that the directive to send soldiers to Lekki Toll Gate to use live ammunition to disperse peaceful and armless civilian protesters, what a direct order from the President.

I don't believe Lagos State Government was a direct accomplice but I believe it would be impossible for the government to not have gotten any information beforehand.

They knew what was coming! And that decision taken by the Governor to not oppose the President's unconstitutional directive and allow such atrocities to happen in his state while feigning ignorance, makes him just as liable and culpable!

The soldiers or police that carried out the Lekki shootings are just scapegoats. The real culprit here is the president and his government that has been trying so hard to cover-up. True justice will never be gotten unless the President and his accomplices are indicted but sadly, that is but a pipe dream in this part of the world.

sad

This story perfectly showcases the extremely superstitious nature of Nigerians and Africans at large, also one of the biggest reasons for severe backwardness in this part of the world.

This doesn't even have to do with educational background as the greater majority of Nigerians which consists of graduates and scholars, also have this kind of regressive mentality.

That's how a 3OO level roommate of mine in the university panicked when he couldn't find his Hair Brush and Comb and seriously began to insinuate they were stolen to 'use' him for spiritual diabolical purposes, while he later found them concealed beside his locker.

I blame this on a combination of poverty, inexposure, overly superstitious cultures, and religious brainwashing.

Obviously, Man United can't be compared to topest teams which are Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City. They are just a Mid-level team that can only strive for a 5th to 7th place finish in the league if things continue the way they are.

If Arsenal can keep up their form, they're gonna earn the last spot in the top 4 finish.
