Gooooaaaaaallll! !!!OLE! ! OLE!!
What a huge goal this is for Arsenal and who else but Aaron Ramsey. The Welshman has been unstoppable so far this season, and picks up the pass outside the box from Monreal before Ramsey lets the ball roll across him before holding off his markers and slamming a low shot into the back of the net. The effort took the slightest deflection on the way in, but Arsenal won't care. This is a huge win.GUuuuunnnnNNNNNNNNEEEERRRRRrrrrrrsss!!!!!!!

Valbuena hits a shot just wide inside a crowded box, but it looked initially as if Flamini had been fouled by Ayew. Somehow it wasn't given, but the Gunners survived .Please dear GOD.

Marseille have responded well to going behind and are on the attack. But Arsenal have held them out well up to now

Breakthrough at the Stade Velodrome, and it's Arsenal who take the lead. The ball is whipped in from the left to the far post, but the left-back Morel can only nod it behind him to the lurking Walcott. He lets it bounce, before hitting a piledriver into the far top corner. No chance for Mandanda. Walcott has his first goal of the season.GOOOOAAAALLL.

KAI!!! Marseille whip a cross in from the left which lands at the feet of Payet on the edge of the box. He hits a shot first time which is comfortably stopped by Szczesny. It's lifted the noise at the Stade Velodrome though

Arsenal come forward now with Ozil down the right. He sweeps the ball across the area towards Walcott, but Mendes is there to put the ball behind for a corner.

Marseille are fractions away from taking the lead. Arsenal twice deal with a ball into the box, before it comes in again for a third time to the near side of the penalty area. Fanni, in space, slams the ball on the half-volley with some power but watches it just fly wide.

ogugua88: A generalization isn't a basic understanding. "Naija girls sleep around anyhow" is a common generalization on this forum. Would you call that a basic understanding?

Someone is calling you and your brothers stingy and you are agreeing lol. Sure, there are exceptions. It doesn't mean that generalization should be swallowed or accepted though. I don't believe in generalizations. There's no such thing as a valid generalization. There's only lack of enlightenment or knowledge.
Maybe they ain't valid but most people don't go wrong with them generalizations.Vigilante might not be valid law enforcement agents but sometimes they do get the job done just like generalizations especially when it comes from someone well informed or enlightened.Well anyway we are entitled to our opinions, so what the heck?

fiscalcliff: I thought I was the only person who noticed
Could it be that Arsenal left their legs in England?
The sharpness you associate with an AW team is missing so far tonight
But Valubuena has been running the Marseille show so smoothly tonight
I think they are adapting to the high tempo of the champions league, you know this is game1,second half we should get some real action.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Marseille Vs Arsenal - UCL (1 - 2) On 18th September 2013 by ichidodo: 8:29pm On Sep 18, 2013
Marseille have been offside a host of times already this match and that is largely due to the Gunners' tactical high line. Steve Bould must have been doing a lot of work back at London Colney.

Arsenal haven't been applying as much pressure tonight as they have in their last few matches. They're inviting Marseille to attack currently and aren't passing particularly great either. What is wenger up to?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Marseille Vs Arsenal - UCL (1 - 2) On 18th September 2013 by ichidodo: 8:11pm On Sep 18, 2013
That's the nearest we've come to an opener and it was mighty close. The corner is half-cleared by Arsenal, before a cross is whipped onto the penalty spot where Ayew rises and powers a header towards the bottom corner. There is nothing that Szczesny would be able to do about this but, luckily for his side, it creeps just wide of the target.

ogugua88: There's nothing loyal about generalizations. That's my point. You and others may be stingy and difficult but I know many who aren't. She may be know men who respect marriage. I can name several who don't. Anyone going into anything with generalizations may be in for a rude awakening.
Her generalizations are brutally honest and apt to say the least, you might know some exceptions but that is neither here nor there. It best to have a basic understandin or as you say 'generalization than none at all. If you can't pound fofo on the mortar, you pound it on ground than not to pound at all because one is afraid of a 'rude awakening'

Arsenal
Arsène Wenger: It is a tough group. We will need ten points to qualify and all four teams can qualify. All the games will be important. We will need to pick up points away from home and we will try to win in Marseille. We cannot predict that we will win all our home matches but we will try and start well to get in the right position.

Marseille have great home support, good physical strength and they are strong up front. They are used to playing big games. Marseille are building a good team with young players. It is a smart policy and by playing big matches these players will develop into great talents. I think they can be in the top two teams in the group; it is difficult to predict who will go through, though.

ogugua88: That's why I dey laugh. Bashing her future husband. Make she tell him that for his front na. We go see if ring go present itself lol.
Not carryin brief for her but yes most of us are stingy one way or another and we got enormous egos. But the beauty of the matter is understanding and loyalty; She knows what she is up against and yet sticks to what/who she knows best. Now what kind of man wouldn't give his left balls for this kind of woman?
RomanceRe: Can You Marry Outside Your Tribe? by ichidodo: 6:05pm On Sep 18, 2013
ogugua88: Of course you don't bash other tribes. You just say they, like Ijaws for example, suck at marriage and don't respect their women. I doubt any Ijaw would be offended. I'm assuming you were once married to an Ijaw, which is how you came to this nongeneralization. As you were. smiley
Her analysis was fair enough, callin us ( igbo men) stingy and difficult, if that wasn't igbo bashing then i don't know what it is.

Marseille coach, Élie Baup .
We know we're not favourites but this is football and we will try to be the team that defies the odds. We are approaching this game with a lot of desire and hunger. Individually Arsenal have a better team but our ambition is to try and perform well.

We are building a young side. These Champions League games are a means of progress and learning for our young and experienced players. We want to achieve something. It will have to be a collective effort.

Arsenal are as good and experienced as previously, one of the top eight teams in Europe. But we will try and cause them problems playing our own game. We will try not to leave spaces between the lines as we know Arsenal like to use spaces. We have to produce a good result for our fans in our new stadium.

It will be a close game as i suspect wenger to firm his players with a 1-2-3-4 with out the ball or 1-3-2-4 with the ball variants of the 1-5-4 formation,Per should be fine and gets a role leavin sagna who has been fragile of late and an injury risk.Kibbs and Jenky should keep their place with the koscielny-Per partnership but i dont think verminator is fit enough to make the bench.Giroud takes his place at the head with walcot, ozil and ramsey off his shoulder. The key is ramsey, he should be given a bigger role to play at the attackin center dropping deep to help out wilshere and flamini. Our bench is bare but i have hope in ryo miyaichi, Serge gnabry,Chuba Akpom and ( who knows) Bendter. Come on you gunners!!!!!
