I think you mean Etim and I mentioned this weeks ago when the list was released. It makes no sense. Those who write ages for these players should try and be responsible small na. The problem now is she'll have spent the years she's supposed to compete with her peers in developmental stages and won't cope by the time she's supposed to translate same at the senior level.

She probably featured in the last U17 as a 15yrs old. Players repeating class is very common in our women football. If you recall, likes of Azizat Oshoala played the U20 twice. Even Desire Oparanozie played U17 twice. Just to mention a few.

Excellent! I am yet to see any Nigerian TV analyst with this in-depth knowledge of the way this Nigeria team is set-up. Peseiro has really done well for this team

Drop Zaidu and we will lose the speed and swift positional recovery of that LWB role. No one faster on the team than Zaidu on that left wing.

Offensively, he is suspect but his forays forward (overlaps), his defending, his underlaps, power and speedy recovery makes him key to this 343.

His final deliveries have been very aweful.

Mali couldn't deal with those area balls into their box

Mali was the better team, even before the Red card. They just couldn't manage the game well.

1 goal up and one man up and it is 87 mins and you couldn't kill off the game.

The youthfulness and inexperience in that Mali team really showed.

Egbon, we know you have followed Nigerian National team for so long to understand that we don't usually do well in friendlies leading to major tournaments. The result against Guinea has not changed my expectations for this team. It is not about blind patriotism. Forget about the recent set-backs, we know what this team is capable of.

Going back to this post just after we lost that friendly to Guinea. grin

The Super Eagles will NOT get to the finals. If they win on Friday, they will lose their semi-final game.

The final is going to be between South Africa and DRC.

And DRC will defeat South Africa in the final match.

You heard it here first. You can comeback and praise me after it happens.

JP is one of Mourinho disciple so it is expected of him to teach the boys gidigbo football cheesy

I am not a fan of Mourinho and all along I have been indifferent about JP until this AFCON.
If you really objectively watch those games we drew against Lesotho and Zimbabwe, not that the boys didn't play just that they couldn't easily unlock the defence of those teams. What the team lacked was creativity and they still lack it. However, in this AFCON they have been able to make up for it with power, long balls and speed, which are mostly what you need to play against African oppositions. This style of play will take you no where in a major tournament like the world cup. Going forward we still need to do something about that our midfield.

I've been studying the profile of the Angolan coach Pedro Goncalves. He's looking like the next Havre Renard. Here me out

He comes from the rich Sportin Lisbon lineage where worked as a scout and youth team coach. Trained some of the best young talents in world football like Bruma, Jao Mario, Eric Dier and Rafael Leao. At some point he was close to convincing Leao to play for Angola.

He worked his way up the ladder at Angola from an academy to U17 then U20s/23/Chan and now main team. He has successfully brought to fore a new generation of Angola players while instilling a fantastic style of play which we have witnessed. 6 of his U17 boys are in this AFCON.

His contract ends soon and he's obviously not renewing. At 47, I feel he's the ideal candidate to replace Peseiro, who could leave post Afcon. Young Portuguese coaches are very much in vogue. There are many of them working behind the scenes at Arsenal and Man city and Liverpool are hustling to get on in Ruben Amorin.

Our imposing and compact style of football will see us over Angola. This Angolan coach may have done well for a team like Angola, but that doesn't mean he is good enough to replace Peseiro. Some coaches do better with managing relatively small teams.

Senegal is the better team absolutely. However some factors could tilt it the other way.

Senegal was only the better team before the game and the first 10mins of the match. Overall CIV bossed them.

The AFCON for you.

Big teams can struggle against Minnows but when two big teams clash it is a different ball game and can go either ways.
I had earlier mentioned in some fora that only CIV can beat that Senegalese team.

In years to come, people like Kog45 will go online to write that they are disappointed in Osimhen that he was only able to score a goal in the AfCon tournament. They will totally forget every effort he made because to them, as a striker, all your efforts are in vain if you don't score. It doesn't matter if you win.

The kinda disrespect that guy gives Kanu is quite funny. What Osimhen did today brutally was what Kanu did in 2004 and it was finished by Utaka.

That's the mistake people make when judging players based on recorded statistics alone. All those pressings from Osimhen all through the tournament will never be recorded. All that would be recorded so far is 1 goal and 1 assist.

Talking about Kanu, it is only people that watched him play that will really appreciate the impact he made in those AFCONs but meanwhile in the records he never scored a single goal.

Going from the quarter final stage, Osimhen really needs to improve on his conversion rate. Chances would be fewer and only teams that take chances win.
