Mujtahida: We've never started a WCQ with this kind of wackness.
The WCQ for Russia 2018 was tough but due to the fact that we started well winning Zambia 2-1 in their home, it set us up nicely and we qualified.
Now see the sham this man has put us in playing weak teams like Lesotho and Zimbabwe. Yes, we started with a 2-1 win away to Zambia while our other two opponents Cameroon and Algeria played 1:1. And the other teams played catch-up till it was all over. Now we have put ourselves in a very difficult position |

Danielnino00: Here we go! Voting of Members of the Nomination Committee Gentlemen and ladies of the thread, it is time for us to vote for those who will stand as representatives of this thread and partake in the selection of award categories and award nominees. This year, the nomination committee will be made up of at least 7 members: myself, icon4s who pioneered the award will continue as an honorary member of the committee and at least 5 monikers from this thread. Every member of this thread is eligible to vote and be voted for. But let's keep in mind that this isn't a popularity contest. Vote for those you believe have the knowledge and passion for Nigerian football. Here's the rule for voting: 1) You're to vote for 5 monikers from this thread to join the committee; 2) Vote the monikers in order of preference, from top to bottom; 3) Points will be awarded to each moniker you vote for. Your first nominee gets 5 point, the second gets 4 points, the third gets 3 points, fourth gets 2 points and fifth gets 1 point. 4) At the end of the voting process, the five monikers with the most points will join the committee; 5) In the event that two or more monikers are tied on points, they will all be added to the committee, as the goal is to have as many monikers to contribute to the process. 6) You're allowed to nominate yourself 😉
Voting closes on Wednesday, November 8th 2023, 10pm Nigerian time.
Thank you. Thesupernerd Kog45 Thegoodjoe Chriskels Charlesemeka |

komekn: None of these players mentioned above have been consistently outstanding with top level performances for club and league.
So you are essentially agreeing with me.
In addition I could argue, none of them have had a run of games, but it's not a material fact.
Tella had an outstanding last season he is now in a team top of the Bundesliga and not getting any game time or a run of games to create form. In addition he has to displace in form Jeremie Frimpong, who is a Dutch international and maybe 🤔 better.
Chukwueze is in a better position but not necessarily good, he also is not getting much game time too. He has to displace Pulisic, who in my opinion is better ,more versatile with better end product.
So in this regard who is better for the SE is open to debate. In my opinion looking at Chukwueze past performances, he dribbles unnecessarily, poor crosser of the ball and his finishing is very suspect.
None of those issues that plague Chukwueze impact on Tella. I can assure he can cross the ball accurately there are basic requirements from academy football ⚽ more so in the Arsenal academy.
Most of our forwards are starved not getting good crosses. What's the point of having a " headmaster ' like V.O. and nobody can cross the ball with quality 🤔to him.
So it's time for Tella to be tried out and it's not a question of poor African football ⚽ pitches,it's about quality end product, football intelligence and work rate as well as helping the defence. Oga, we don see this kine player multiple times before. Let us see him play in the WCQ first before even analysing if he can make the AFCON Team. |

komekn: Give me one example not two .
The basis for national team selection has always been outstanding consistent top level performance in your club and league.
With a proviso for quality of club and league, for instance, a bench warmer in Real Madrid can still be an outstanding player. From the recent generation: Chidera Ejuke Emmanuel Dennis Kelvin Akpoguma Mikel Agu Henry Onyekuru I can go on and on. What we saw before their Super Eagles invite was far from what they delivered. Even someone like Ademola Lookman has still not lived up expectations. I don't bring in sentiments on whether foreign or local born when I assess players. Let us see what Tella can do in the Green and white jerseys, ON AFRICAN PITCHES first before you start any comparison with Chukwueze. |

komekn: I've not seen where a player is a timid anonymous mouse 🐁 in club and league and then all of a sudden comes into the national team and becomes a lion ♌.
It doesn't work like that.
If a quality player is not performing in the national team, you have to first look at the management. It's like having Lukaku and if he doesn't score you say he is bad.
When Lukaku was having issues the Tuchel in Chelsea he was still banging goals for Belgium. Chairman, I have seen multiple cases where a player is a Lion in his club and becomes a timid anonymous mouse in the national team. We have been too long in this game to start jumping in excitement over any player we see in Europe. Club football is different from national team football. Let Tella come and play on African soil, with his Nigerian team members against African oppositions before we start any comparison between him and Chukwueze. |

komekn: Is Chukwueze better than Tella , with end product and more effective in creating scoring chances ❓
Let them compete and the best players be selected on merit alone. Coaches don't drop players like that. Let Tella come to the African Soil and prove those points in bold first before you start any comparison. |

Nomyth: It's the 89 set.
Benedict Akwuegwu and Babatjide Oguntuase.
The both look truly U 17. Yeah thanks Jide Oguntuase to the left and Ben Akwuegbu to the right. I have always opined that age cheating in Nigerian football is not as widespread as people term it to be. I know quite a fair number of some of these Youth players of the 80s and 90s. Asin i sabi Dem reach house based on say we grew up together. Many of them used their real age. Fine a good number equally falsified their age but some of them also used their real age. Look at that Young Benedict Akwuegbu in that pic and tell me he doesn't look less than 17. |

Kog45: Even world class CBs fumbled seeing Messi not to talk of Omeruo, but still better than Bassey who failed against Balde of Guinea Bissau. The thing is many of us here derive joy in talking down older players just to promote a new, untested player. It has always been like that. It is that new untested player that is always the best player to them. Eguavoen bowing to the pressure of fielding too many new players in our starting 11 against Ghana in Abuja was largely responsible for why we couldn't win that game. |

do4luv14: True Sir, it's a general thingy with us in naija, ( the fire Bridget Approach ) Exactly, lack of proper and early planning and at the end having to rush things to meet deadlines. Why can't this kind of mix-up happen in a European competition? We are our own problems in this country. |

Kog45: I thought pages back settled this debate.
We saw Osimhen/Awo running into each other,Boniface came in second half and we saw better Osimhen, meaning Boniface must be utilized behind Osimhen and if he is not available then Boniface behind Awo or Moffi.
Well, everything depends on Peseiro Osimhen and Awoniyi are typical "number 9s". They both want to always be at the receiving end of the balls and that forward pairing will run into issues. |

do4luv14: But Sir he is not their secretary , And I don't think the mixed up is from his office too It is still this Nigerian non-callant attitude towards important issues. It is only a Nigerian club that such a thing can happen to. We are grossly very poor when it comes to administration. -And this also has affected the leadership of this country. We just do things any how and expect things to automatically fall in place. You cannot sow cassava and expect to reap "agbado" |
