Martz101: Some non football fans know Ronaldo, ask them if they know salah and they will ask you if you mean ileya True. Following News of 1million Egyptians voting for Mohammed Salah in Egypt's presidential elections I raised the issue in a political discussion that why can't Nigerians do what the Egyptians did when they voted for Mohammed Salah instead of the Presidential candidates. And their expressions were like " you say? who be Mohammed Salah?". At that point it came to my realization that I was not on nairaland sports section and had to explain who Mohammed Salah was and how Egyptian love him.

darkelf: No bros
Aguero didn't play in 2005. I think he played in the same tournament as Bala, Ezenwa and ideye et Al but they lost in the finals to Czech republic He was so young and was placed on the bench. In fact he was the youngest player in the squad at 17 and the only 17 year old in that squad. |

Martz101: Aguero played played the under 20 in 2005 when he was 17 and they won, bros is better we end the argument.
Believe what you believe and let me believe what I believe Aguero was the only 17 year old in the entire 21 man squad. 15 out of the 21 were 19/20 years olds. It is normal for exceptionally talented younger player to player with older players. I still insist you read up on the maximum age for an U20 player . You cannot be parading a team of predominantly 17/18 years olds and you say it is an U20 Team. FIFA that classified them into age categories know why they have done so. |

Martz101: I'm actually surprised this argument is coming from you, if you are 20 you cant play under20, check fifa rule book, we accommodated new player in the said 2005 under 20 because we didn't perform well in the 2003 under 17 tournerment.
Bros a 16 year old and 17 can play under 20, I can give you examples if you want
After winning under17 tournament is expected large amount of them graduate to under 20, this should not be an argument Oga if you don't know about something go read up. |

Dedebanky85: All I need him for is his set pieces. That boy de play freekick and Pk die. Wish you can just substitute for setpiece and then you take the person out again - just as they do in nfl for field goals. E for make sense. I expected this boy to be killing it in Bulgaria by now. Expected Ludogorets to be eyeing him by now at least. All that na for junior level. At the senior level it is a different ball game. |

Martz101: chairman the under20 is not for 18- 20, is for players under 20 years, you can't compete if you are 20, Mikel and ogbuke was 18 when he competed and graduated directly from under17, taiwo was added from NPL elkanemi after playing with the famous gabros, meaning Taiwo played for 2 or more seasons in NPL.
Sir do you prefer win at all cost policy and no future for the national team? Yeah Mikel and Ogbuke played at 18. Yes as I said before the U20 is for 18-20years olds so they fall in. The U20 is for players who are 20 and less. Typically 18-20. Thank God you mentioned Taiwo, cos going by your logic he should never had been given the chance for the "development". Do you know the entire backline of that famous 2005 U20 were never part of the 2003 U17? Dele Adeleye, Monday James, Onyekachi Apam, Kennedy Chinwo, Taiye Taiwo all were not part of the U17. You cannot parade 16-17 years olds as U20. They are U17. And who says winning a tournament makes players not to have future with the national team? I stand for excellence at all levels. No mediocrity. Winning and excellent development. That is the way to go. |

Martz101: after winning an under17 tournament, you expect him to throw the camp open again, I'm sure you are one of the people criticizing our current under20 team.
Is easy for an under20 to claim he plays in naija league, you can only get genuinely young lads at under17 and push the bulk of them to under20, the objective for age grade competition is not winning but development An U17 team pushed to U20 is an U19 team. That age gap will always be there. And more so when most of your U17 winning team players were 15-16 years olds. You will be carrying a 17/18 years team as an U20. This age difference matters alot. The U20 team is for players 18-20. If a player falls within this age category why ignore him because he plays in the local league and so you must doubt his age. Yes U20 is for development and all young players deserve the development whether they were part of the U17 or not. We have always underrated the Competition at the U20 level which has made it the only age grade competition we are yet to win. And don't tell me about how it is not all about winning but development. Can't you achieve both? The last U17 that crashed out what has happened to their development? Winning makes your players attractive and candidates for development in good clubs. |

Martz101: Do you prefer he bring totally new boys to the fold, thought we need continuity for there progress He should have thrown it open to select the best . Being an U17 graduate should not automatically make you an U20 player. It should make you a candidate for selection. |

andrew444: Musa Mohammed is not a good player, some people think u17 World Cup is senior team football. I had serious headache trying to explain this to a lot of people on here earlier on this forum. Some even said age doesn't matter. Not all U17 players progress well. Some even fall short as early as the U20 which is why I was mad with Amuneke for promoting all his U17 players to the U20. Not all of those kids were ready or were good enough for the U20 challenge. |

tbaba1234: I think, it goes beyond agent..
He was loaned to the Bosnian league and did not impress.
In his current club, he has 9 yellows and 1 red in 20 games.
I do not think, he has improved enough for senior level foot He has simply not raised his game well enough as he progresses with age. U17 performances flatter to deceive a lot of people. Some people here would understand me better now. |

We must be aiming for a loss or draw then
The 3-5-2 we used against Argentina is the best.....and I love the way y'all are throwing in fourth choice goalies. We are still doing fantasy teams less than two months to the World Cup, cool. Those goalkeeper slot is still open my dear. |

kennysville: As per inclusion/injection of new players into the team, I would advise we tread with caution. Any player that must be added now has to really really be the missing piece of the puzzle so as not to upset the balance of the team. In fact we have sooo many players right now that can actually give our starting 22 a gud run for their money , but frankly its all about the timing. If this were 1 year ago, no problem! But 1 month to the world cup and we already wanna yank off Musa, Simon because there are players performing better abi? Newsflash! Its world cup season.... Everybody scores! Even Ighalo that was having goal drought scored 4 goals ( although i would av prefered he scored only one and kept the rest 3 for our 3 group games so we can at least have 1 nil win in each of the games.....Na joke O!)
Bottomline, names you never heard before on the scoresheet will start scoring . Check all our worldcup seasons especially the ones we qualified for. Na so so pop pop the net dey shake.
My candid opinion? We include them after the Mundial. Every one of them. If we can have 3 solid like for like teams after the world cup with each player knowing that his jersey aint sure, then we are sorted. Its is this starting 11 syndrome that got us into this mess in the first place. Now we dey beg Enyeama to come to the rescue, we dey pray say make mikel no injure...... God help us
Up Super Eagles Kenny, your comments always make sense. In addition Anthony Nwakaeme scored a brace over the weekend. Olanrewaju Kayode has scored twice of late. |

somehow: We will do this in this worldcup. Iheanacho will score a free kick.
As for Cornerkick, i don't think we have players who love using their heads except maybe Ogu
Scoring from indirect freekick, an Ogu can do that and maybe Musa.
We might get to win PK this world cup if we go far, players like Moses and Iheanacho can win us PKs. I have been corrected: Adepoju scored from a corner against Spain in 1998, Uche Kalu scored from a free-kick in 2010 and alos Yakubu scored from the penalty spot in that same world Cup. But by and large we need to utilize every given opportunity. |

Okocha did it well at later stage of his career, also Chris Ohenhen was a good free kick taker
Hope to see Iheanacho,Simeon Moses scoring from free kicks at WC.. Has any Nigerian ever scored from a free-kick in any World Cup? Has Nigeria generally scored from any form of set piece, be it corner or indirect free kick? We have not even won any penalty. Still scratching my head. As long as we cannot get goals except from open plays we will continue to struggle in major competitions like the WC. |
