Jesus was simply speaking metaphorically in those verses you've quoted.

Jesus was telling us that his word will divide people, even within families.

Have you not seen some families disowning their child just because he accepts the Lord Jesus ?

Have you not seen some people getting really pissed off just because someone mentioned Jesus or just at the sight of the cross?

Jesus in Matthew 5 , verse 43 - 48 says we should love those who persecute us.
