Maku looked up,he could see lighting above as he descended,he was sure that the rain has started already.
He could feel his feet on the earth once again, he looked around, he found himself in a white room, more like a white cauldron, he couldn't find Arore anymore.

He became scared, he turn around and searched for her in the room, but he could not see her, he only saw white figurines of a one breasted woman, which he understood to be iyemoja.
The room was filled with all kind of feminine diagrams, of women holding their babies, of a young maiden holding her breast, he could see a diagram of a young man bowing down to the vagin@ of a woman.

He turned and saw a woman standing behind him,she was wearing a white wrapper that covered her breast,her hairs were laced with cowries and sea shells,her eyeballs were blue.
She appeared to be smiling, but it was a mysterious smile that sent fear down his spine, Maku could not help but move back with fear.

Then suddenly the woman disappeared, Maku would have run,but there was no where to run to,this room does not have a door nor a window,he broke into tears, why is this happening, why did Arore brought him here? he covered his face with his palm and sobbed.

He was still sobbing, when someone touched him,he jerked with fear,but behold, it was Arore, he could see her face well,she was really beautiful, more beautiful than he had ever seen her,her hairs were different now,they were like dreadlocks, he could notice a necklace of seashells and cowries on her neck.

Arore was smiling, a beautiful smile, that made him rose up and hugged her tight,he could feel her,she was really different, he disengaged a drew back to examine her well,indeed it was Arore, tear dropped from his eyes,Arore was really beautiful.

Arore spoke up


Aroresmiling) what are you thinking?

Maku: (smiling amidst tears) you are beautiful, you are really beautiful.

Arore: (she held his hand) don't be afraid Maku, I will always be there for you, no matter where I may be,you have enemies Maku, you have many enemies,in this wicked world, you have to becareful, you have to watch yourself, you have have to watch how you speak and how you act( she dragged him to herself) not all pleasures are meant to be savoured, not all snakes are meant to be eaten,remember Maku, not all sweet things are good, they may be death in disguise. (she drew back) you have to return to the world now, but before then,I will empower you. ( she faced him) I will give you my Ashe.

Arore moved back and hit her abdomen with her hands,then she brought her hands to her mouth and brought out tiny live fish, she held the fish by the tail and offered it to Maku.

Arorepresenting the fish to him) take,this is my Ashe, my energy, my power. With this, you could travel all over the bodies of water,you could cause illusions and mirages, you can make people see what you want them to see and prevent them from seeing what you don't want them to see,you can see future events by this aid of this Ashe, you can heal with it,you can curse with it, you can do a lot of things that you would later know as you proceed with it,now,open your mouth( Maku hesitated and she frowned) I said opened your mouth( he did,Arore put the fish in her mouth,and kissed him with it,inserting the fish into his throat with her tongue (she withdrew when was sure he had swallowed the fish, Maku felt dizzy and he fell but Arore caught him and hugged him,the Ashe had sank into his humanity) be strong Maku, you are more than a man now, remember you must not lose this Ashe, the day you lose it,that very day you shall die, don't lose it.

Maku had regained his strength, he stood straight and looked at Arore.

Maku: Arore, how can I lose the Ashe?

Arore: you mustn't mate with any person with a vagin@.

Makusurprised and afraid) but how do we make babies if we don't mate,I want babies from you Arore.

Arore: (she smiled sadly)you must stay away from women.

Maku; (crying) but how do make babies?.

Arore ( she looked up suddenly and she was afraid, she quickly faced Maku) Maku time is going, go home back, go show yourself to Oyo, my people are in trouble, please save my mother.

Maku: but...( Arore hurriedly dragged him as she ascended the stream, she dragged him hurriedly out of the stream and back to the dungeon).

Arore: ( pointing to his bleeding body) go in now,time is going.

Maku ( afraid ) what about you?

Arore: (she pushed him into the body) fare well Maku(sadly,she hurried away as the tiny bells on her ankles jingled after her).

Maku felt a pressure in his chest,he weakly opened his eyes,he saw Arore, she was poking his chest with her fingers, she looked at him,he could see her face,she wasn't smiling, neither was she frowning, her face was expressionless.

Arore: (motion him to stand up) stand up Maku, stand up.( Arore helped him up).

Maku could see Legun sitting with his arms folded, he was sobbing as he stared at a body, Maku moved closer,behold, it was his body,he could see himself, lying helpless in a pool of blood, Deolu was also lying around like a corpse.

Fear gripped him,what is happening? he tried to talk to Legun, but Legun was not even aware of his presence, he felt helpless and strange, he broke into tears,now he got it,he is dead. Arore touched him .

Aroreshe held him and dragged him towards the wall, he closed his eyes and expected collision as Arore walked straight towards the barrier,but to his surprise, they walked right into the wall and came outside of the dungeon.

Everything looks strange, everything feels strange, even Arore was behaving strange too, she was just dragging him to nowhere, and she hadn't said a word since,she was cold and emotionless.

Arore led him through a familiar road path,it was midnight and the night was cloudy,about to rain,but he could still recognized the path,it was the road to the stream, he could hear the thunder rumbling as lighting lit the night, the trees where making mournful sounds as the breeze blows against them.

They descended the slopy stream terrain, Arore was very fast, she was really moving fast that he felt himself flying, she held him with an incredible strength, Arore was different tonight, he wanted to see her face, but it is as if Arore do not want to face him, anything he tries to see her face, everything will just appear blank.

They had reached the stream, but Arore was not slowing down, she dragged him towards the over filled stream, Maku was afraid, he would surely drown..

Maku scared) Arore, what are you doing? where are you taking me to? stop! leave me,please leave me( he tried to disengage from her, but Arore was just too strong, she held him tight as they entered into the stream, he screamed as they walked deeper into the stream,till they were both underwater.

Maku was expecting the normal pressure and cold of water in his skin, but no, he felt exactly as he felt on land,in fact he was breathing fine,this place felt awsome and awful, everywhere was silent and cool.

He could not feel his feet on the earth again, that was when he knew that they descending down into the bottom of the stream, he fasten close to Arore, so as not to fall.

Ichendu was in the palace with the Ekun, they were making plan on how to repel the Oyo invaders, other high ranking warriors were there too.

Ichendu he drawled diagram on the wet earth) here,we have to guard here( he pointed at the stream in the diagram). The oyos would try to cross the stream, they would not be able to use their Calvary because of the great stream.

The stream is filled already, so the oyos would not try to Ford the stream, they would probably build rafts,they would cross over and land here( he pointed at the stream shore) from here they would encounter our warriors and battle begins, they would push our warriors back with their great number, then they would try to break our men's morale by killing me,and if they succeed, they would chase our men and slaughter them as they ran,then they would start killing our people, they would spear no one,until they kill the last soul.( he ended and looked at the Ekun) this is what the oyos are planning right now.


Ekun: (holding his chin) that means that we have to guard the stream well,I think the stream we serve as our moat.

Ekun: you are right your Majesty, the stream is our hope, we have to try as much as possible to prevent the Oyo's from crossing, if we can hold them back at the stream, gradually, they would exhaust their supplies, and they would get homesick after sometimes,and they would start leaving their camps gradually, only if we could prevent them from crossing the stream.


first warrior: concerning their supplies, I believe they would receive constant supplies form Oyo if we don't try to break the supply route, and I don't think Ari would give up,remember Sir, his generals does not fail,if they fail they would never come back to Oyo again, they have to end their own live,moreover, I heard the Are ona kakanfo Oduaye is the one leading the force,and I have heard of his determination and brutality and his sorcery prowess.

second warrior: (supporting the first warrior) he is right chief, oyos would receive constant supplies and their men would not give up,we should have some other plan.

Ichendu sighed, he knew that they were right, but he is short of ideas, and right in his mind he knew, they have less chance of winning the war,but no matter what happens they would fight, but right now,it was this name that was resounding in his head,Oduaye.

Legun was shocked, he knelt down beside the dying Maku, he could not help tears stop flowing from his eyes, he knew that Maku would die.Blood was was everywhere, he could see Deolu sprawled on the floor like a corpse, Arore was just rocking Maku's mortal body.

He screamed to the guards that someone is dying, but none replied,nor did they come for help,he screamed louder banging the door,but no one answered, now he knew destiny had caught up with Maku, he can't escape the jaw of death.

Arore had stopped crying, she faced Legun;

Arore: (she holds his hands) promise me that if I die,that you would protect Maku, that you would guard his life.

Legun: (perplexed) what are you saying?..


Arore: you heard me right, promise that you would protect Maku, if I am gone.

Legun: (he looked at Arore's eyes and saw her seriousness) I will,I will protect him with my owns life.

Arore: promise me that you would take care of my mother if I die.

Legun: (crying) I will,I will Arore, I will.

Arore: (she exhaled) Thank you, I want you to help me avoid any distraction, either from you or the guards.

Legun; (nodded)

Arore lie down,with her chest facing up,she closed her eyes, Legun could see her chest rising and fallen, she could see how her eyeball moves behind her eyelid, then she stopped moving.

Baba bent as he entered Oyeku's room,the lamp was burning, he could see Oyeku lying on his stomach, he wasn't sure if he is sleeping or not.

Ayeni: ( he moved towards his mat and pulled his leg) Oyeku, are you awake?, ( there was no response) Oyeku, I know you are not sleeping( he tickled him and Oyeku laughed).

Oyeku: (he twisted on his mat and caught baba hand) baba,you are disturbing me( he shook his head like a boy that needs real spanking)

Ayeni: (he forced a frown) so should I leave?( he prepared to leave).

Oyeku: (realizing his slight rudeness) baba please stay( he sat up and grabbed Baba's leg) do stay baba.

Ayeni: ( he sat beside him on the mat and adjusted his wrapper) so you say you want to fight?

Oyeku: (his eyes lit up) yes baba,I want fight for our land.

Ayeni he was silent for a while, thinking) you will fight.

Oyeku: (he was happy as he hugged baba) thank you baba( he sat back quickly, his face was full of smiles).

Ayeni: you will fight on three conditions.

Oyeku his smile disappeared) what condition baba?

Ayeni:one,you must not die,two, you will not go to the border to fight nor will you fight at the front line, three, you must marry that girl from Oma as fast as possible, if you ready to abide by these conditions, then you will fight.
