War Horse: The real reason Mr. Biggs fell this bad is little to do with bad customer service. Rather the business they are into was the cause. Many will say Mr. Biggs was into the business of fast-food. For me, capital NO. They were into the business of selling class satisfaction. Why did you ever go to Mr. Biggs to get whatever you eat? My guess? You wanted to please your girl or you wanted to give yourself a treat for a month end pay or your financial level demanded that Mr. Biggs was the place or you wanted to experience eating in a cozy cozy conditioning. Hardly, maybe a few times, did you go there because you wanted food that fast.
Now, I was in Benin when Mr.Biggs came in. The queues were busting the glass doors. It was the only one back then in time. The wealthy in town flocked there. I remember see some Edo house of Assembly guys there. It was a thing of pride to walk the streets with a Mr. biggs paper bag. Guys saved money to give their babes a one time treat there. Then came another (can't remember the name now) at Airport-road - I think it was owned by the one Mr.Prest. People started to opt for the new one in town. Yes, maybe there were some difference in the taste of the food. But one glaring difference was the look of the place. It was far better than that of Mr. Biggs. Then came Kaddies, with new looks and new attractions, it won people from the previous operators and so on and so forth - Tantalizers, chicken republic etc.
It was clear. The only way to stay competitive in this business was to put on added impressive looks or physical attractions. Interestingly, operators like GT foods are still in business. Why? Because their business is selling food not selling class satisfaction. GT sells food at comparatively lesser price in basic decent places. They even open outlets in student populated areas.
Much of Mr. Biggs outlets are still wearing the looks they used in winning the so called class market. It is just that those looks have been obliterated by the new ones. Just imagine if Mr. Biggs opens something like what Orientals have in Lagos at VI. Men!, they would be back in Business but for a while - while "it" lasts.
McDonald is operating in a country that is less class oriented as Nigeria. Selling in a class sensitive society requires difference rules of the game.
Mr. Biggs has two options and option one is - build more attractive outlets (possibly name them after some of our celebrities)and sell the same thing as they do now (Nigeria funny o) or sell food in basic but decent outlets to the average class. Doing business in Nigeria na wahala

He said they are working on the OTA update thingy and is likely to come out for phones with 4.0 upward. No more Phantom A1.all have been replaced with Phantom A+ at 36000 naira. Did you ask them whether nor not we'll need to buy new phones to enjoy the OTA update when it's available? |

Here in Uyo, one of their outlet in the heart of the city has been shut down and now on lease/rent. The other one has few or no customers. They've run out of customers because there are Food Affairs, Pepperoni, Crunchies, Grand Tasties, Oliver Twist, Sammies and other ones I can remember their names. It will be difficult for Mr. Biggs to return. Mr. Biggs>>>Mr. Small>>>Mr. None |

mcgboye: FICTION:
I have N50k and I really wish to buy a Tab with at least 8 inches and that works very well for my needs. If I could get some change after buying this, for data purchase and credit to call my babe, better.
I approach the phone store (say SLOT) and I look at the tabs on display. I give details of my plan to the attractive Shop Attendant and she tells me I can get some tabs for that amount and still have enough change left for the other stuff. So she points me to a tab on the display with something like "Tecno" written on it, and I was like, what's that? Anyway I ask the shop attendant what kinda tab it is and the specs. She mumbled some details I scarcely understand and then tells me it will do ALL the job I have listed, and some more. I asked her how much it costs and she says N35k. I looked back to be sure he wasn't talking to someone else then faced him again. Are you freaking joking? No sir, she replied in a respectful manner. I asked her to repeat the details just to be sure and she confirms what she said earlier, with some other juicy details she forgot to mention the first time. She tells me there are other similar devices going for the same price but Tecno has a Customer Service centre in Lagos where all my queries are addressed, especially if my complaint is within the warranty period. I immediately pay for the device - I don't want her to realise she has given me the wrong price (maybe she had too much to drink). I also bought some other accesories after doing some calculation to check if my spending is still within budget.
You see where this is going? I don't give a damn what other devices can do or how much they cost. This device is cheap for my pocket, does exactly what I want it to do and some more. My friend has a 140k iPad, another has a 90k Samsung Tab but I also have a device which works for me just fine.
I painted the above scenario to explain exactly why people should just enjoy whatever device they bought that suits their budget and their needs. The key words: BUDGET and NEEDS.
NB: I don’t have a tab, yet.

I don't know what all these insults are all about! This thread's title is "Tecno F7 (Phantom A1) Discussion Thread". I believe there are threads for other devices as well. These Tecno guys have tried, we should encourage them at least and also let them know their drawbacks (i.e OTA update thingy etc). So far, I've made up my mind to buy this F7 and then N9 tab. I don't care if a Samsung or HTC has the capability of making it's owner a cup of coffee or tell one when he/she is hungry. I believe the Tecno user's (abi owners) are satisfied with them (at least for the most). Enough of the insults and abuse!!! |

InvertedHammer: / It beats me why f@cking Africans are busy chasing the latest trend in mobile telephony.
New versions come out all the time and all Westerners have to do is turn in their old phone and renew their contracts without outright purchase of phones. And when such phones damage, manufacturers' warranties or insurance coverages fix them.
But what do you have in Nigeria? You buy it, and keep buying, buying and buying until you drop. What is it with Nigerians bragging about how much they spent acquiring things while most westerners brag about how much they save acquiring items.
Nobody spends their way to wealth.
SMH.

The continent of Asia can be classified into 3: Middle east, Far east and East.
In Middle east you find countries like Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and so on.
In east you find countries like India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and so on.
In Far east you find countries like South Korea, Japan, China, Vietnam and so on.
