abuzz33: The main revenue for any airport in Nigeria is the passenger service charge which is N2,000 for domestic flights and $80 for international flights. With Anambra airport doing roughly 30,000 DOMESTIC takeoffs thats 60m per year. Not enough to make a dent on the huge cost of building and running the airport which cost reportedly between 40-60 BILLION. The airport has to push for international flights otherwise after 10-15 years its terminal, runway and parking lot will look like the one at Enugu which is poorly maintained because of lack of funds.
Getting International flights revenue of roughly N60,000 per passenger means that an airport doing even just 50,000 passengers per year like Enugu will gain roughly 3 BILLION in revenue to make the airport VIABLE. The MMA makes around $240 million from its 3M international passengers per year. It and Abuja are the only profitable airports in Nigeria. Firstly, to correct you. That airport cost more than 100 billion to build and Anambra doesn't have that money. And if we didn't borrow where did you think the money came from. Secondly, the ICC cost is well close to 100 billion and where did you think the money came from. Anambra investments liquidated by Obiano is valued in the neighborhood of over 200 billion....that more than our yearly budget. Now , why did you think the cost of the ICC and airport was never made public and why is Obiano avoiding the press after multiple invitations to explain his stewardship. Now, why hasn't Obiano countered the Taraba state governor who inquired how he is able to deliver such a capital intensive projects in such a short time. Something the federal government finds difficult to achieve. Obiano liquidated all our savings to build airport and ICC. |

IGBOSON1: This is what i like seeing! The airport is getting busier....just look at the sea of cars in the car park!
It's good Obiano settled for nothing but the best and the airports expansion and upgrade should continue with the present admin'! The Soludo admin' could seek private investors for a multi-level car park of say 4 or 5 levels. It would be a money spinner and could pay for itself within two years. I won't lie, the airport was a good idea but I hated the source of the funding. I hope they are bringing in nothing less than 500,000,000 Naira monthly. |

Peter Obi choice among other factors cost Atiku presidential seat but the same Peter obi left PDP unceremoniously to contest against his boss. Atiku was never Obi's boss, not even by any chance. Obi was born and bred in wealth and never worked for anybody in his who life!! Let that sink in for a minute. Atiku himself made his wealth from working as a civil servant and manipulated his way into owning major properties privatized by the ministry he worked under. Atiku is very corrupt and cannot be trusted. Having Obi on his ticket in the last election was an advantage to Atiku than it was for Obi. Obi has already arrived before Atiku met him. |

Peter obi is trying to run on general discontent due to economic hardship not on ant groundbreaking idea. I have listened to him for quite a while, he's yet to demonstrate the capacity to treat the economic fundamentals. Buying and selling need to go beyond known market risks drivers, there are many factors limiting the market in Nigeria, some are not demand based. If you ask me Mr Peter Obi's problem is the larger than life picture of a know it all he has painted of himself, what I think Nigeria needs is not a know it all person but a man or woman who can build a team that can manage the various strategic exposures. Soludo Orders Arrest Of Two Anambra Billionaires over State’s Revenue Diversion
Barring any change of orders, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra state has ordered the immediate arrest of some prominent citizens of Anambra state over flying revenue windows in their control if they refuse to appear before the Chairman, flying revenue committee, Anambra State and Deputy Governor of Anambra state by Wednesday this week, Anambra Current News reports.
The order to arrest some of these prominent citizens including Chief Ngozika Okpagu and Mr Akai Egwuonwu came about following government suspicion that they allegedly divert revenue accruals to the state government over the last 8 years.
The government is worried over tax diversion in some quarters in the last 8 years and wished to unravel some of the mysteries, hence the decision to go after the untouchables in the state.
Sources close to Governor Soludo informed newsmen that the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim who doubles as the Chairman of the committee on flying revenue has been briefed to invite all those managing flying revenue windows in Anambra assumed as untouchables on Wednesday November 2nd, 2022 at the Deputy Governor’s conference hall , Government House Awka.
For Akai Egwuonwu, who is the MD Zara stores Awka, and proponent of Anambra Rice, Soludo wants to know why ‘Anambra rice ‘concept and branding has been personalized and discover if he pays any taxes and revenue to the state for such branding and business.
Chief Ngozika Okpagu on his part is being summoned to explain why he is operating a park at Onitsha south, Fegge. He is expected to show evidence of payment to Anambra state internally generated revenue for his businesses in the last 8 years.
So many others are also being invited for interview on flying revenue windows in the state.

This Ngozi Okpagu, the same one Morocco sang highly of is definitely one of the thugs who had taken residence in our treasury. This guy is very mean, deadly and dangerous. The man is the king of agbero at Onicha. You stand in his way you are dead!
This move by Soludo shows how serious he is with cleaning our revenue collection drive.
I applaud Soludo for his fearlessness, courage and political will.

EasternActivist: So Nnewi and environs will pay massive tax and no road projects for them...
This is evil no cap... Shut up , please. Dont bring such nonsense division into Anambra. Its already bad enough Willie Obiano took us ten years back and left Anambra roads in a sorry state. After taking accounts of all the economic roads , major roads that links up the 4 major cities ( Onicha, Oka , Nnewi and Ekwuluobia) in Anambra is was reasonable to start somewhere. By the way Nnewi does not pay more taxes than Onicha. I hear Nnewi people making noises everywhere about the state of there roads but they were the same ones dashing out chieftaincy title to Willie Obiano. He abandoned Nnewi in entirety and today because the are worse including the fact that Obiano drained Anambra treasury including our assets in stocks and bonds to build an airport and ICC he never told us its cost, up till today. Anambra, today is broke with staggering challenges us flooding because of bad drainages and our tributary rivers are not dredged ; hence why Soludo kept harping on waste disposal, dredging of Nwangene river , Idenmili river , Sacamori etc. Anambra roads are very bad and with our goal of building a homeland we the great people of Anambra can be proud of the challenges are enormous. That's why the governor kept moving around to sensitise the citizens, asking them to keep their environment clean, dispose garbage properl, pay your taxes then hold the government accountable to their duties. Anambra has more pressing problems than Nnewi ; also Nnewi people has built up the whole land with all kinds of structures and it makes development of the town very difficult. Let's be reasonable in our criticism with the governor. I am not one yet bh yet I can see the challenges that he faces with an empty treasury. However, these are some of the goals I want Soludo to achieve before he leaves office. 1. To construct all the economic roads in Anambra ( at least most in greater Onicha, Nnewi , Awka , Ekwulobia, Otuocha axis , Ihiala axis). 2. Construct all the major roads in Onitsha and Awka. 3.Major investment in education. 4. Upgrade the airport to international standard proper. 5. Major investments in skill acquisition 6. Major investment in healthcare 7. Major investment in security (trained vigilantes. 8. Green initiatives like tree planting; 100,000,000 trees yearly. 9. I want filthy environment to be over. 10. Drainages must be redesigned; no open drainage 11. Awka and Onitsha must be transformed to decent living places. 12. We should be done with issues of waste disposal by end of his administration. 13. Anambra State University must be one of the most equipped in the country. 14. Education still needs massive improvements, especially primary and secondary education. 15. Road side trading that brings filth and litter our streets must be FFUCKING stopped! 16. Indiscriminate building of houses must be controlled. 17. Road side parking must stop. Ultimately, I want Anambra to be the most attractive state in Nigeria in terms of healthcare, education, sports , culture, business and residency. If Obiano were this aggressive we would be close to our goal by now. |
