PoliticsBoko-Haram Release French Family Kidnapped In Cameroun by Ifetex(op): 12:26pm On Apr 19, 2013
A French family of seven including four children kidnapped in north Cameroon and taken to Nigeria by suspected Boko Haram militants have been released, a senior Cameroon official said on Friday.

"They are all alive and well," Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, secretary general of Cameroon's presidency, said in a statement carried by state radio. He said the family had been handed to Cameroon authorities late on Thursday.

The family, which was on holiday, was abducted in February by men on motorcycles, armed with Kalashnikovs in Dabanga about 10 km (six miles) from the Nigerian border near the Waza national park, reports Reuters.

Gunmen claiming to be from Nigerian Islamist group Boko Haram later released videos of the family, threatening to kill them if authorities in Nigeria and Cameroon did not release Muslim militants held there.

The parents of the family, which included two boys and two girls as well as another relative, worked for French utility firm GDF Suez.

Politics[BREAKING NEWS] Don’t Dare Us, Northern Youths Warn MEND by Ifetex(op): 12:09pm On Apr 19, 2013
Angered by last Sunday’s threat by the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta, MEND, to commence bombing of mosques and killing of Muslim clerics as from May 31 over the terror campaign and killing of Christians by the Islamic sect, Boko Haram, northern youths yesterday, promised to deal a deadly blow on the militants should they carry out its devilish plan even as former agitators and clerics in the Niger-Delta differed on planned attack.

Although the Arewa youths did not specify their mode of retaliation, they warned MEND not to arrogate to itself the monopoly of violence.

The northern youths’ warning was handed down by the National President of the Arewa Youths Forum, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Gujungu in Abuja.

Gujungu made it clear that the threat by MEND would not in any way deter northerners and other Nigerians from fighting back should they attempt to make real their threat.

The AYF leader said,”the most recent threat by MEND is indeed, unfortunate, callous and counter productive, especially coming at a time when patriotic Nigerians are making strident effort and sacrifices to resolve the current security challenge.

“MEND, as usual, is putting spanners in the works for unpatriotic selfish economic benefits. It is painful that these elements are threatening more violence despite the colossal amount being paid their leadership and the training of Niger Delta youths abroad by the Federal Government to the obvious disadvantage of other Nigerian youths outside the region.

“MEND and its members are hereby warned that they do not have monopoly of ideas, strength or ability. The youths of the north and other Nigerians are united and shall face them to truncate any of their threats which are aimed at separating Nigerians along religious or ethnic divides for their selfish economic goals.

“It is very sad and mind boggling to note that instead of supporting and ensuring that President Jonathan succeeds in finding a lasting solution to the present security challenge in the north, MEND has re-opened another insecurity theatre in the Niger Delta to cause distraction and make him fail.

“The obvious disrespect, which MEND shows to President Jonathan as not being among those they respect enough to intervene in the ongoing debacle, is food for thought, to say the least,” Gujungu noted.

Some ex-leaders of the militant group contacted by Vanguard, yesterday, opted to keep sealed lips with one of them, saying, “You know our position on this matter. As far as we concerned, MEND is dead, those threatening anything in the name of MEND are paper tigers.”
However, the spokesperson of the defunct Niger-Delta Liberation Force, NDLF, “Captain” Mark Anthony, threw his weight behind the planned action by MEND, while a prominent activist, Mr. Augustine Ogedengbe, cautioned against retaliatory attacks by any group from the region.

In the words of “Captain” Anthony, “If MEND can carry out their threat, it will be a welcome development, the Christians Boko Haram roasted with bombs in hundreds are human beings. While we were in the creek, we made preparations to pay Boko Haram in their own coin, but Niger-Delta politicians pleaded with us never to carry out operations in the land.

“Now, my hands are tied as Federal Government has granted me amnesty and my group, NDLF, and I have sworn to an oath never to engage in violence. I am now a toothless bulldog and cannot bite,” he said.

Rev Usifo, who opposed the plan by MEND to take up the gauntlet for Christians said, “They should not burn mosques and kill Muslim clerics, I am not in support of that. But I want to say that Christians should arm themselves and also seek the services of security agencies to guard their churches. In a situation where people come to attack them and burn their churches, they should defend themselves”.

Activist, Mr. Ogedengbe, said he would want MEND and any other group claiming to represent Niger-Delta to be mindful of the fact that Boko Haram was fashioned to frustrate the Federal Government, headed by a Niger-Deltan and carrying out reprisal action could precipitate more bloodbaths.

Nigeria is heading for disintegration unless ——Southern Mandate

Meanwhile, the Southern Mandate has warned that sponsors of the sect must halt their activities forthwith, or else the insurgency will plunge Nigeria into disintegration.

The group said in a statement issued in Abuja, yesterday, that the sustained explosions were targeted at discrediting the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.

“We foresee that there are no two ways about it –the consequence of Boko Haram’s present activities is the disintegration of our dear country in the near future”.

“In the circumstances, we wonder why some Nigerians could still regard Boko Haram as an enemy only to President Jonathan and his government. However, it is time to tell ourselves the bitter truth: the earlier all Nigerians from the North and South realize and confront Boko Haram as a common enemy, the better for the unity of Nigeria”, the group said in the statement signed by the group’s President-General and South/South Coordinator, Tito Zuokumor and Dr. Wilson Omene, respectively.

The group condemned those who blame President Jonathan for the prevailing insecurity without considering the attendant result of sitting on the fence and allowing sectional violence as a tool to score political goals, with which some political figures have been identified.

“Let the truth be told that there is no region or ethnic nationality in Nigeria that is weak. The West, East and South-south all have the capacity to create a similar scenario of deliberate insecurity in their zones to make any administration ungovernable just to score political points.

“And if such acts of artificial insecurity are perpetrated by a group or groups of persons from a part of the country without resolvable aims and objectives other than to waste innocent lives just to deny a particular region the right to attain the presidency or complete the constitutionally stipulated tenure of office, then we have got to check ourselves, apply restraint in whatever we do, and not acting with impunity as is presently the case with some self-seeking politicians fuelling the Boko Haram activities. Otherwise, we are all heading for the doomsday.

“We are all not unaware of the political aim of Boko Haram, but we fail to see beyond the kite which the group and their sponsors are flying in the air and progressively piloting us to disintegration”, Southern Mandate insisted.

It added that “the serial bomb explosions and death of innocent Nigerians are receiving applause from certain quarters today because those behind the barbaric acts believe they are winning the battle against Dr. Jonathan’s presidency, unmindful of the fact that they are laying landmines for the nation’s disintegration.

“The determination of a few selfish individuals seeking the highest political office to “do everything possible, whether good, bad or terrible to unseat President Jonathan” for fear of becoming too old to occupy the presidency if Dr. Jonathan is allowed to remain in office for two terms, must be stopped”.

The group urged all good-spirited Nigerians to support the federal government in tackling the present menace in order to avoid similar bombs exploding from other parts of the country tomorrow.

It claimed that Nigeria’s unity was being preserved by the petro-dollars from crude oil in the Niger Delta region and that the people of that region had borne the brunt of oil production for several decades in the interest of the entire nation.

Destination of all suicide bombers is hell——Sheik Gumi

In a related development, renowned Islamic cleric, Sheik Ahmad Mahmud Gumi has said hell is the destination of all suicide bombers. The cleric, in a sermon monitored yesterday pointed out that while young men commit suicide, they ought to reflect that those leaders who send them to their deaths do not commit suicide or send their children to die in the same way.

Gumi who has been critical of the Boko Haram sect, said in the sermon: “The prophet said the way to Paradise is easy for those that follow his path. Despite this ease of entering Paradise, those that commit suicide for whatever reason have guaranteed for themselves the Hell Fire forever”.

According to him, “People are forbidden to wish for death talks less of committing suicide. Islam is a practicable religion. Whoever therefore will be taken by fanaticism or sickness or depression to kill himself, he has condemned himself to eternity in the hell fire”.

He stressed that whoever will explode himself with explosives for whatever reason or disguise will also continue to be in his explosion in hellfire forever, stressing that this is what the hadith teaches. Suicides, he warned, are tormented by the same means they employ to kill themselves.

“Today we see young men killing themselves with explosives in the name of Jihad yet they never reflect that those ‘leaders’ that send them to such adventure never commit suicide nor send their children to commit it

Christianity EtcIG Orders Increased Security For Easter by Ifetex(op): 11:26am On Mar 29, 2013
The Inspector General of Police (IG), Mohammed Abubakar, yesterday directed all zonal Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) and the 36 state commissioners of police to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of Nigerians during and after the Easter festive season.
Abubakar, in a statement by the Force spokesperson, Frank Mba, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), said the command commissioners of police should personally ensure that all key and vulnerable points within their jurisdictions, including places of worship, recreation centres, motor parks, highways and financial institutions are adequately protected.

His directive came on a day the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) described the continuous bombings in some northern states as genocide against Christians and called for the prosecution of members of Boko Haram who are behind the terrorist attacks and their sponsors.

The IG, in his statement, congratulated Christians in Nigeria as they join their brethren across the globe to mark the 2013 Easter season, which begins today with the celebration of Good Friday, a symbolical day in Christendom to remember the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

While reminding Christians that the victorious resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter morning was preceded by a painful crucifixion as the price to atone for the redemption of mankind, Abubakar urged Nigerians to emulate and adopt the selfless lifestyle of Christ.

He urged them to be open minded to issues of forgiveness, peace and harmonious co-existence, in consonance with the principles and teachings of Christ, especially in this trying moment in the nation’s history.

Abubakar called on Nigerians to respect the nation’s diversities, especially in the light of the sacrifices being made by security operatives, who like Jesus Christ, are constantly subjected to all forms of dangers, risks and deprivations, including the hazards of death in the line of duty, in order to secure lives and property as well as protect the corporate existence of the nation.

He saluted police officers and men for their courage, dedication, tireless and selfless services to Nigerians and the country and restated the resolve and commitment of the present police administration to reposition the police force for greater efficiency.

While commending Nigerians for their patience, understanding and cooperation with the police in the fight against crime and criminality, the IG urged them to continue to support the police with useful information that will effectively assist them in tracking down criminals.

He expressed the willingness, determination and commitment of the police to discharge their responsibility of securing lives and property and called for prayers and support of all Nigerians for them to realise the objective.

On a day Abubakar was suing for understanding, CAN decried the fate of Christians in the north who have been subjected to constant attacks by Islamic militants.

It described the continuous bombings in the north as genocide against Christians and urged the federal government to take steps to redress the situation.

CAN General Secretary, Rev. Musa Asake, at a news conference in Abuja, also dismissed the claim that there is war in the north.
He said killings have continued unabated in some parts of the north because “there is no prosecution of those who go out to kill.”

He demanded the prosecution of Boko Haram suspects in detention to show that the federal government is sincere in taming the sect.

“The assertion in some quarters that ‘the north is at war’, does not represent the reality on the ground. From our records, day-in-day-out, Christians in the north are the ones under an unprecedented siege by various groups of well-armed, roundly trained and heavily funded groups bent on expressing their hate against Christians and the Christian faith through mindless mass murder of men, women and children.
“There is no war in the north. What we have is genocide against people of the Christian faith. The state of the nation calls for concern. And so is the state of Christendom at this trying time in the history of our nation.
“The situation demands urgent action, if we are not to descend into a state where every man is to himself,” he added.

Asake expressed regret that what began as an inter-tribal skirmish at Asakio in Nasarawa State between the people of Eggon and Alago and later between Migili and Eggon at Agyaragu had assumed a religious dimension, leading to the burning of many churches and houses as well as the killing of some pastors.

He also drew attention to the situation in Kano, Yobe, Borno, Sokoto, Zamfara, Jigawa and Katsina States where he said that aside from banning the teaching of Christian Religious Knowledge in schools, some of the state governments have in the last 13 years refused to grant new building permits to churches or given approval for the renovation or expansion of churches.

“While the preaching by Christians is restricted within church premises in the core northern states, Muslim clerics are free to preach hateful and inciting sermons with no hindrance,” he said.

CAN decried instances where indigenous Christians in the north are treated as third class citizens in their fatherland, noting that with the series of callous attacks on Christians, it could no longer encourage them not to defend themselves.

According to CAN, “One major source of concern to us in CAN is the Nigerian government’s failure to prosecute all the arrested persons allegedly backing Boko Haram.

“The picture that emerges from this is that government is insincere with its much-touted war against the sect members, one good reason why the government is yet to flush out the group.
“Government must acquire a reputation for being taken seriously on this matter by the populace. It must also acquire the spine to prosecute any member of the sect already in the government’s net.

“To do otherwise is to make most Nigerians believe that some classes of Nigerians are untouchable.”

In the meantime, the last minute rush by Nigerians wishing to travel to different parts of the country to celebrate the Easter holiday with friends and family resulted in absolute mayhem at the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos yesterday.

Owing to the limited number of airlines operating at the moment, thousands of passengers were seen at the airport trying to board flights to different parts of the country but were unable to get seats to board their flights.

Arik Airline, which operates from GAT, was overwhelmed and could not cope with the number of passengers who besieged the airline yesterday.
Also, the spillover of travellers and last minute shoppers making their way to the airport and markets respectively, was felt on Lagos roads Thursday, as the city experienced horrendous traffic jams that left commuters groaning in agony.

Crime28 Feared Killed In Resumed Plateau Crisis by Ifetex(op): 11:52am On Mar 27, 2013
For the umpteenth time no fewer than 28 villagers have again been killed in a fresh clash between Fulani herdsmen and natives of two communities in Da Jak and Attakar of Ganawuri District of Riyom Local Government area of Plateau State.

The scenes of the attacks are about 50 kilometres from Jos, the state capital.
Suspected armed men were said to have stormed the war weary villages in the early hours of Tuesday with sophisticated guns and machetes, rampaging all over the communities, killing and maiming.
It was gathered that beside those killed, a number of others were wounded and rushed to the hospital.
Those in the hospital have little or no chances of survival as a result of heavy injuries they sustained from gunshots and machete cuts, sources said.

It was also reported that the attackers sacked the two communities with several houses burnt.
Soldiers of the Special Task Force (STF) in Plateau State seem to have no answer to the increasing violence in the local government area.

In Jos on Tuesday, Majority Leader in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Daniel Dem, said dozens of villagers from his constituency were killed.
The lawmaker described the killings as sad, saying the affected villages have been under siege by suspected Fulani militia since last week.

Dem accused the special military task force deployed to restore law and order in the local government area as being part of the problem.
“My people are being killed everyday and yet the special task force is not doing anything about it; I am calling for the withdrawal of the STF since they are not capable of handling the crisis that has been rocking the state for a long time now,’’ he demanded.

A Police Corporal was reported to have been among those shot dead by the rampaging gunmen.
It was gathered that the dead policeman was on a patrol together with his other colleagues in the crises area of Ganawuri District when he was killed.
The name of the policeman was given as Corporal Jibril.

He was until his death residing at the Railway quarters in Jos and his widow is said to be pregnant.
Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Chris Olakpe, who confirmed the incident, said the officer was shot while on a peace mission to the area.
He said no arrest has been made, adding that his men were carrying out investigation on the matter.

Nigeria’s pop duo, P-Square of Peter and Paul Okoye were in Malawi last weekend, where they thrilled their fans with their electrifying performance and moving dance steps. Showtime Celebrity cornered Peter Okoye who provides insight into what could make him break up with his twin brother. He also talks about the making of their latest album, Alingo and their new plans to conquer the southeast African countries with their kind of music.

By BENJAMIN NJOKU

You are always on the road, how many days do you guys have to yourselves?

We have been trying as much as possible to create time for ourselves. But most times, we don’t get it. We need more time to rest because performing for 2-3 hours on stage is not usually an easy task. Despite the fact that we have been travelling over the world, we took a break in January, and right now, we have resumed business again.

Sometime ago, it was rumoured that your latest album, ‘Alingo’ was banned which was later refuted. How did you receive the news?

We heard about the ban. But when they ban a particular song, they are indeed helping to promote that song. By the way, if they ban a song from being broadcast in Nigerian stations, will they stop MTV, Channel O, Soundcity and other cable networks from playing the same song. It’s not possible.

What is the making of Alingo?

Psquare for the past five years hasn’t done any dance video and our fans expected to see something of that nature from us. So, ‘Alingo’ was just the first song we had even before the ‘Invasion’ album came out. We didn’t take the song seriously until when our fans started loving it. And before we knew what was happening, it caught fire. We have no choice than to give our fans a video You put in a lot of energies to do the video?

Yes, it was my own idea. When the song started picking up, we thought it is important to give our fans something they have never gotten from Psquare in the past five years. The last time we did something similar to this, ‘Roll It’ was over five years ago. It took us a lot of time and energies to produce the album. Our senior brother, Jude who is also our manager shot the video. Interestingly, most people didn’t know that the video was shot in Nigeria. We went to an abandoned warehouse situated some ten minutes away from our Lagos residence to shoot the video.

Sometime last year, you guys did a remix of Beautiful ‘Onyinye’ with Rick Ross, American artiste. You also got signed to Konvict Music, owned by Akon. What’s the situation like presently?

Our relationship with Akon is great. We have known Akon for over six year but we were not looking forward to working with him until last two years when he attended our concert in London. After watching us perform on stage, he developed interest in working with us.

Then, he was planning to open a branch of his Konvict Musik record label in Africa and he was in need of business partners who would help him coordinate the business. That was how we teamed up with him to establish Konvict Musik in Nigeria. We are representing Akon in Africa just as he is representing in America. That’s the whole idea.

It was also rumoured some time ago that you guys bought a private jet. Was it true?

There was nothing like that. I guess because it was included in our list that whenever we are going for a specific show, the organsiers must provide us with a private jet. We had a deal with a private jet company which always hire their private jet to us whenever we are in need of it. It’s like, we have a private jet at our disposal. I remember, I once tweeted that a private jet has been included in our list. That was how people started speculating that Psquare has bought a private jet. But we always travel with the jet all the time.

But do you have a plan to buy a private jet?

To be honest with you, the way things are going, we are planning to buy one. And it’s not because of the cost implication of hiring a private jet, but the fact that we want to meet up with our concerts.

What would you say, you haven’t done since you started your musical career?

I think we have virtually done everything. But I don’t want our fans to start speculating in respect of when would Psquare break into the European or American market. Africa is the next big thing for Psquare even though Americans are in dire need of our kind of stuff. They have exhausted everything they have to offer. For me, I will rather be a king in my own vicinity than to try to be a king in another man’s land. We have achieved everything except that we have not been able to structure the industry. The problem is that when we try to do so, some greedy fellows always frustrate our efforts. For me, I’m not complaining but I just feel it is important, we structure the industry for a better tomorrow.

Was a 35-man committee members inaugurated last week by PMAN Peace Initiative to restore peace in the troubled musicians’ house?

I’m not aware of it. In fact, I’m hearing it for the first time. The committee they claim to have set up, are they musicians or people they feel they want to use to pilot the affairs of the association. When we came into the industry, it wasn’t like what we are seeing today. Psquare was among the musicians that structured the industry the way it is today. we were among the first set of emerging musicians that started making money from selling our CDs. When they are setting up such a committee, what stopped them from involving people like us.

If they don’t carry people like D’banj, 2face and Psquare along, then, there is a problem. It means they are just wasting their time. This is not because we are successful in what we are doing, but it’s because the industry is driven by individual effort. So, if they are taking such a major decision that will affect everybody in the industry and they don’t involve us, then , there is a big problem. I’m not a member of PMAN, and I don’t have any problem with the association.

Are you not interested in the restoration of peace in the industry?

I’m not interested in PMAN because the past leadership of the association failed us. We don’t need to be PMAN members to succeed in our careers. The association hasn’t done anything for us. I don’t need them.

The peace Initiative is trying to unite the musicians again?

When they were setting up the interim administration, they ought to have started from the top and engage those musicians who command respect in the industry. There is no musician in Nigeria today who does not respect 2face. We can be bigger than him in Africa, but I have so much respect for him because he was among the younger generation of Nigerian artistes who broke even several years ago. It’s so disrespectful that an interim administration was set up without our knowledge. If they don’t get the three top Nigerian artistes; Psquare, 2fac and D’banj, then, they are wasting their time. I love our industry they way it is at the moment. We don’t want a situation where , in the name of association, somebody will start dictating the pace for us. The more good we are, the more we want to make more money for ourselves.

Which country would say is your largest market in Africa?

At the moment, it’s East Africa. Anytime Nigerians say, they are through with Psquare, will take our things and relocate to East Africa. But South Africa is a place where we have been working for the past one year building market for our songs. We took a break in January, this year, and between February and March, we have been to Zambia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe. We were in Angola two weeks ago and just last week, we stormed Malawi. So, our potential market at the moment is South Africa. We have built all these markets by ourselves alone.

The impression most people have about you is that Psquare is arrogant?

I think Psquare is very intimidating and we are not arrogant. When you saw me today, did I look arrogant? That’s a wrong impression people have about us. There is Peter and there is Paul. Peter is stubborn, bad and controversial, but they say Paul is quiet, cool headed and all that. But you see, you cannot steal from Peter to pay Paul. If you steal from Peter to pay Paul, you are indeed paying Psquare. I’m a very controversial person and I’m not expecting every news about me to be positive. Psquare is not arrogant, it’s just that the people are scared of approaching them, considering the way we operate. When you see Psquare stepping out, we look very intimidating. But the people who are very close to know that we are not arrogant. Beyonce could visit a shopping mall today, and the whole place will be shut down. That does not make her arrogant. It is her management that has made it to be so.

How is life without your mother?

It has been hectic. We haven’t decided to do a new album at the moment. But while she was alive, she was always with us in the studio. We don’t know how we are going to do it this time around. She was a minister of God before she passed on. She had her own Church which Paul and I built for her. Anytime, we want to release a new album, she would pray on the album for almost a week before we got it released into the market. Her church is still functioning till date and her prayer partners are still there. Once in while, we do communicate with the leadership of the church and it was our desire to see the church continues to function after her death. Wherever she is today, she will be happy that the church is still functioning because it’s a monument for her.

But did you guys really know what happened to your mother?

People must always speculate . It got to a point, I said to myself that those people who are accusing us of being responsible for our mum’s death must be ignorant of how close we were to her. We didn’t want that rumour to distract us. In fact, when people are insinuating such things, the best advice is for you to block your ears and never allowed it to distract you. I’m human, and I don’t except people to say positive things about Psquare all the time. Psquare have made its worst mistake in the past, and nobody noticed it. We are not perfect. And we know why people were accusing us of being responsible for our mother’s death. It’s because we are successful in what we are doing for a living. Even in my Igbo nation, once somebody starts to progress, his kinsmen will start to associate his riches with money ritual. We have overgrown such insinuation.

We have seen great musical groups split in the industry. Will Psquare ever split some day?

Like I said earlier, each time, people look at Peter and Paul, they conclude that we are perfect. But they don’t know that I fight with Paul the same way he fights with me. We quarrel and fight with each other the same way you quarrel and fight with your siblings. The only thing that matters most is that we don’t bring such quarrel into our business.

I always tell my friends, the only person who will tell us to split is our mother but she’s no more. Even if she were to be alive, would she allow us to split? The day we are going to make up our minds to split, it will be an open decision. May be, when I say I want to retire or Paul says he wants to continue with his career in music. That does not mean that I wouldn’t give him my support.

What has kept two of you together?

Of course, we are blood brothers. And we always think of where we are coming from. Our parents never had anything. They were not rich people. If Paul say today that we must split, I will only look at him and laugh. Sometimes, I’d swallow my pride to ensure that peace reigns between two of us.

Have you tried to intervene in those popular split in the industry?

The best way I can intervene is to keep Peter and Paul together. Let them watch and learn from us.

But he’s your twin brother?

It goes beyond brotherhood. The Jacksons split. There was this group that wanted to split some time ago, I intervened and made them see reasons they should remain together no matter the odds. Yes, money might be the cause of the split. But I don’t share money with Paul. That’s the way we have been working because we never had anything from the out set. I’m not saying this because you are interviewing me, between Paul and I, money has never been a problem.

Have you had any cause to date the same woman?

Every woman wants to hang out with Peter. This is because everybody knows that Peter is more outgoing than Paul. But I doubt if woman can cause a problem between Paul and myself. Money would have been the devil that will cause a problem between us than woman. Any woman that wants to cause between us is wasting her time.

How did you grow up with Paul?

Our growing up was fantastic. I’m the person who was always on the stubborn side. Then, I would go out there and cause some stir, and they would put the blame on Paul because we are twins. We were always wearing the same clothes. I and Paul grew up doing things together. It has remained like that till date. That’s the way our mum trained. What Paul does not like today, I will not like either. May be, this is what has been holding together.

Recently it was rumoured that you are into oil and gas business?

Yes, it’s about to kick off. My music is doing very well in the market, and investing in other areas will help to boost my pocket. Which is not a bad idea.

Every successful man wants to continue to invest in other areas of life. Are thinking in that direction?

Psquare is not only involved in music alone. We are into real estate business. We have been doing it for a long time now.

A business man who is keeping his money in the bank, what’s he keeping for, without investing it. We also do banking business, but real estate pays us more.

Psquare as a product of talent hunt show

We know that Psquare is a product of talent show, ‘Grab the Music’. We also know that when you emerged the winner, you went home without anything. But these days, winners of a reality TV show usually go home with mouthwatering prizes. So, looking back, how would you comment on the new trend?

When you win a talent show, what comes first is ego. You have millions of naira around and a brand new car at your disposal, the world is in your palm At this point, you are building yourself to the next level. I don’t say the winner should not have the car, but he should not let the car to distract him. At the time, we won the talent show, we were given a keyboard which is still in our house till today. The keyboard was just N80,000,00. In fact, that keyboard, is part of the instrument in producing most of our albums. The keyboard has made millions of naira for us. My piece of advice is that when you win such a competition, think of where your are coming from and invest your money wisely.

It was gathered that the series of bomb blasts and gunfire started just after midnight on Saturday and lasted for about four hours. Residents of the town could not sleep throughout the night as the terrorists set the schools ablaze. They also could not come out while the schools were in flame.

A source in Biu, a town 185kilometres from Maiduguri, the state capital, told reporters on the telephone that the three schools attacked were privately owned. They are Godiya Primary school, Lajada Private school and Standard Private school. The resident expressed shock at the attack despite the imposition of an unofficial curfew on the town.

“We were shocked by last night’s attack on the schools because Biu town closes down at 5:30pm to observe the curfew imposed on the town since last Wednesday robbery attack at Coca Cola mini depot that led to the death of a soldier and three others. “We cannot but ask the soldiers to explain to us how three schools could be burnt down during the curfew hours and none of the culprits was arrested."
A top security officer in Maiduguri who declined to be quoted since he is not authorised to speak to the media, confirmed the attacks. Spokesman of the Joint Task Force (JTF) Lt. Col Sagir Musa, could not be reached for comment last night.
