We are still waiting for this book. When exactly can we expect to see copies? |
Thanks Sean. But what if you're in Nigeria? How do you purchase on Amazon? Do you pay with naira, bank card, etc? |
Just wondering where everyone buys their novels? I find out that each time I buy a book, someone else ends up getting it somewhere else for a cheaper price. |
For me I kept kicking myself and asking why I ever committed to such a crappy job. I lasted a few months in the company (global co-op: name with-held) and quit! Chikena! |
Gosh! This whole thing is scary. What on earth are we supposed to do? Abi we should chop our degree plus NYSC certificate? Ladies, the best thing is to get married to a successful guy ASAP! I don talk ma own be dat. |

There is an upcoming novel narrating the activities and experiences of an American female in a naija boarding school. Title of novel is "Feddie Girl" written by Nona David. If you have not heard about this novel, go to http://bernardbooks.com The excerpts are hilarious and you will feel like you are back in boarding school again, serving punishment for seniors and prefects. The funniest thing is the way the Oyinbo sees naija boarding school. LMAO! This book will definitely be a first in history! I am so excited and I can't wait! |

@Vescucci That what? Abi, I spoil your own? |
tosh_acer:I don't get it. You mean because we are Nigerians, or because as Nigerians we are prone to be bad-belle's? ![]() |
@ Poster To be honest with you, there aren't any local foods in Nigeria that are good sources of calcium, except Milk and other dairy products. Bones from meat and fish may work too, but that's about it. The rest of the foods (especially the processed ones) contain a little bit of calcium that were added in three ways: (1) Enrichment (2) Fortification (3) Add-back process. These kind of foods do not give you the daily required dose of calcium and vitamin D (you need that too for your condition). In effect, you should consume more Milk and dairy products. However, the best bet for extreme conditions like yours is calcium tablets/supplements. Actually, every woman is required to take one tablet of calcium every day to prevent osteoporosis and bone loss. Alternatively, since you're Ibo, ask your mom or people in the villa about 'Nzu'. Pregnant women use this as a source of calcium during the early stages of pregnancy. This is all there is. Other foods like Soy beans or green leafy veggies, though they contain a tiny amount of calcium, will not help your case. If I were you, I'd go for the calcium supplement. |
What did I tell you? MrCrackles see the post below this one? Them don dey already get bad-belle for you say you be moderator. Na wa for Naija peeps o! |
MrCrackles:MrCrackles, no be joke I joke. Na serious matter be dis o. |
Home Page Topic Suggestion. Topic: Why do Naija's have serious Bad Belle? Link: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-263495.0.html Thanks, Seun. |
Forgive me if this is not the right thread to pose this question, but I really want to know: "Why do we Nigerians have serious 'Bad Belle' for our own people?" We never want anyone to progress unless they are part of our immediate or extended family. When we see someone better that us, we tend to find a way to ridicule the person's effort, so as to ake ourselves appear better in the eyes of others. Why? Some girl marries a rich husband living abroad, we say, ehn, she's given him winch to chop. Another person gets a good job with great pay, we say she slept with the manager or director. Why are we like this? Even the kind Chimamanda Adichie, the female writer that won a foreign award two years ago, we Nigerians back-bite her. People please, she's one of our own. We should be supportive not oppressive. If you don't believe me, go and visit the Facebook fan page of the new novel set in Nigeria that is about to come out. Type-in Feddie Girl and hit search. On the page, na so so white people and Oyinbo's full dia showing their support. So, where are the Naija men and women? Please let us try to be proud and supportive of our own people. This is one of the ways to grow as a nation. |
Don't mind my many rantings. I'm a big fan and can't shut-up. ![]() |
Funny, Lol! |

@ Joan, The same question applies to this one. It is just a blog, right? Not actually part of the main Feddie Girl novel? Please, in future, indicate which is a blog and which is an actual excerpt from the main novel, so that readers will understand and be able to distinguish one from the other. As for me, I've been to both the publishers website and the two blog sites you maintain (WordPress and Google Blogger). I like you marketing angle with the blogs. Many of us Niaja writers should take a cue from you. Way to go, sis. Please keep it up! |
@Joan, Just to confirm and be sure: this is just a blog right? It's not part of the actual novel, Feddie Girl. I'm asking because some readers are getting confused. |
@Iniguy, I think you're confusing the blogs with the actual novel excerpts. As far as I can see, there are only 2 official excerpts from the novel so far i.e, the ones posted on the publishers website (this one here is one of them). The rest of the write-ups you see are just blogs: i.e. written by the major character (in her voice, etc), basically just ramblings about her life and experiences, etc. From what I understand, the blogs are like a marketing angle, aimed at bringing readers closer to the character and spreading word about the novel. For me, the actual excerpts from the novel are to die for (I can't wait to read the whole book), while the blogs are just like enticements. ![]() |
Thanks, man. |
