Family › Re: Set-up Of Charity Section by ifyalways(f): 9:38am On Oct 25, 2014
I think having a charity section on NLD is long overdue. Of course, scammers and all sorts of people would invade the section but the onus lies on anyone persuaded to give to make an effort to verify the story before giving.

TEHN does a good job at that ie verification but sometimes, certain needs can be quite urgent and/or petty, or TEHN might be busy with another project so making the charity section a TEHN exclusive affair won't be a good idea.

A section open to everyone to post is cool, IMO.

@Seun, if you are bothered about scam, add a disclaimer. simples.

Family › Re: Why I Abandoned My Children In A Boarding School For 8 Years-father by ifyalways(f): 3:43pm On Oct 23, 2014
The man does not deserve a handshake but I won't judge him.

Life is all about choices, abandoning them in the school was the best choice for him them.

What other options does he have? :-

Hand them over to relatives who would use them as houseboys/girls
Put them out on the streets and highways to hawk
Strangle them and run away
Abandon them in a church

He's made his choice, he will live with the consequences. Good news is that the kids are fine.

Had the man gone to the school without money,I bet the kids would be thrown out, regardless of whatever story he comes up with.

Life is all about choices. The end might justify the means. . .

@Justi, I want this urgently. When it gets to you, you'd use either FEDEX or DHL to courier to Nigeria. Tell me whats its going to cost to land to a lagos address with FEDEX or DHL .

One of each :

9jatriot:
If you are Nigerian and do not want to be relocated to Syria anytime soon, then you should register for your national ID card. (Joke)

Well for those who are not aware, the National Identity Card Project is currently on. It does not matter if you have grievances against the project or that you suspect that it is another way to milk the system. Those misgivings can be set aside while you go and perform both your civic and mandatory rights as you register while the process last.

To register, you have to do a pre-registration on http://www.ninenrol.gov.ng/p/loginForm.tpl.html.php.

Print out the bar code and take it to the nearest NIMC centre for data capture, temporal card and registration.

I don't wish to scare you, but I had to use up to 4hrs while waiting for my turn for the data capture.

I noticed that a lot of artisans and low income earners who you would ordinarily think will not be aware of the program are actually taking advantage of the process, while a lot of the middle class and elites are in their offices complaining about the economy, sports, politics and any topic they can conjure.
I just tried to register, something is wrong with your link.

I did.

No challenges. We started of as sisters kind of, as I knew her from when I volunteer at the Orphanage where she was. Over the years, we became close and I started off as her foster mom then with time, we made it official; she became my daughter. Hubby and everyone knew her first as my sister, then my daughter. She is now married and have given me a very beautiful grand daughter. kiss

May it not happen again.

May the rich warn their kids who go to UAE to flex and flaunt wealth that the Arabs neither send nor care about them. You either keep a low profile, flex carefully or perhaps pick another destination spot.

I don't think anything would come out of the case, no matter how hard anyone shouts. If them make too much noise, they will find an innocent Nigerian and frame up.

Please, educate yourself. You claimed in your earlier post that you withdrew 800 ghs, an equivalent of 500,000 ngn from an ATM. 800 ghc is roughly 42,000 ngn. ATM's in Naija dispense 150,000 per account per diem. Do the Maths.

then whats the need of heavily armed security guards around atms and the bank premises? I thought it was a normal thing with all banks until tonight i saw differently in Ghana. and about the banks not having money, please shattap, coz i withdrew almost 500k in naira, thats more than 800 cedis from the atm just now
800 ghc is just about 42,000 ngn.

As per topic, crime rate in Ghana is generally low.

Stanbic at Palms, VI opens till 10pm daily, First Bank at Adeola Odeku and Diamond bank branches at VGC Ikota Complex and Palms open on Saturdays. Am sure of those, but dont know about other branches I dont use.
True, most of the banks at Ikota shopping complex are open for business on Saturdays. 10 to 2 pm. There's also a Union bank somewhere in lagos Island(somewhere in Tommy Jones, I think) that are open on Saturdays too.

It meant exactly what you read. I am your father.
It was my opinion and I can say it how I see fit. It doesn't concern you to ask me who I am to dictate since you don't feed me either. Again, it's my opinion and that's why I wrote I guess that's what they wanted anyway thereby refuting your claim about dictating to them. Read a book.
OK.

Thumbs down for the photographer. What effort was made to ask questions from the man? All we got was zooming picture after picture. My take anyway
Why question the man? What's special about him?

Millions od Nigerians sleep on the streets of lagos, heck one is sleeping right next to the man, have we asked questions about them?

Charity starts from home. I don't give a flying fvck about the Chinese. . . for the records.
