It is only a week and some days away that I will be facing the court for allegations that have been leveled against me. Pls people should stop spreading false information on this forum. The age of consent for sexual intercourse in Nigeria is 16 years. This bill does not change that in any way. Any person over 18 who has sexual intercourse with a minor under 16 is still guilty of statutory rape under this law. The bill goes further to say that if the victim is under 11 years of age then the offender is liable to a punishment of life in prison. That is what the Anyanwu bill does, it doesn't redefine the age of consent for sex.
