adeosundamilola:I'd suggest you chill till it's approved. It shouldn't take long. And when it does, the approved copy will be sent to your email, print it and take it with you for your BIO. You don't wanna get there with an unapproved document and some "officers" will now use this to extort you, especially if this is your 1st time. |
toluwa456:Hi... Apologies for the late response. Yes, I was given a slip that had the date of collection. My candid advice: don't follow that date. Check the NIS office in about 4-6 weeks (from the time of your BIO), your passport should be ready. |
Juoflife1:Do your application yourself. Those documents will be forwarded to your email, which you can easily print out at any business centre. |
Tadeus:I went for the 52 pages/5 years booklet, which costed N50,000... with a bank charge of N2,000 |
Psady:Definitely... |
Hello Nairalanders Below is an article detailing my passport renewal journey in 2025... I hope this helps someone Renewing a passport can often feel like a daunting task, filled with uncertainty about timelines and processes. However, my recent experience at the Alausa Passport Office in Lagos proved to be surprisingly efficient and straightforward, especially considering it was a completely DO-IT-YOURSELF (DIY) application, with no agent involvement whatsoever. Here’s a breakdown of my journey: My renewal process began on April 22, 2025, when I initiated and completed the online application. This involved carefully filling out the necessary online forms and making the online payment. I opted for the transfer method via Paystack, which was seamless. I handled every step of this process myself, ensuring all information was accurate and submitted directly through the official channel - https://passport.immigration.gov.ng/. This included ensuring I had digital copies of essential documents for upload. Specifically, I had scanned copies of my Birth Certificate, Proof of Origin, and the biodata page of my expired passport. Additionally, the online form required the input of my National Identification Number (NIN) digits. A crucial part of this stage was ensuring my passport photograph met the strict ICAO standards. To effortlessly achieve the required dimensions of 600x800 pixels, I found the online tool at https://webupon.com/blog/600x800_pixel-image-converter/ to be incredibly useful. Initially, I booked my biometrics appointment for April 28, 2025. However, upon checking the application status, I noticed it hadn't been approved yet. Seeking clarification, I reached out to @nis_response on Instagram regarding the delay. The response was to be patient and await the approval. Fortunately, the approval came through relatively quickly on April 30, 2025. I received an email notification confirming that my application had been approved, which was a welcome relief. With the approval in hand, I proceeded to the Alausa Passport Office for my biometrics appointment on May 2, 2025. I ensured I had all the necessary documents printed, including the payment slip, the vetted/approved application slip, and the appointment slip. Of course, I also carried my expired passport with me. During my time at the office, I observed the process and interacted with other applicants. It was reassuring to see that both those applying for fresh passports and those, like myself, seeking renewals were treated with the same level of attention and efficiency by the NIS officials. The process flowed smoothly for everyone I encountered. The checks and paperwork were handled efficiently, and the biometrics capture itself was quick. In total, I spent approximately 3 hours at the office and was done. May 5, 2025, I tracked my application status online, and it displayed "PRODUCTION: Passport production is in progress." This indicates that my passport is now being manufactured. Based on my experience, here are a few key takeaways that could be helpful for others undergoing passport application, especially for renewal: Prepare digital copies of essential documents: Ensure you have scanned copies of your Birth Certificate (or Age Declaration Certificate), Proof of Origin, and the biodata page of your expired passport ready for uploading during the online application. Have your NIN ready: You will be required to input your National Identification Number (NIN) digits during the application process. Utilize helpful online tools: For ensuring your passport photo meets the specific ICAO requirements, especially the 600x800 pixel dimension, consider using a tool like the one I found at https://webupon.com/blog/600x800_pixel-image-converter/. It can save you time and potential issues with your application. Print all necessary documents: Having your payment slip, vetted/approved application slip, and appointment slip readily available will expedite the process. Take your expired passport with you. Consider the Alausa Passport Office: From my experience, and as others have noted on this forum, this office appears to be operating with commendable efficiency, treating all applicants with the same level of professionalism. The entire process was seamless and fast, particularly because there were no issues with my application. Be vigilant and aware: It's worth noting that I encountered no instances of extortion, which speaks positively about the professionalism at this particular office. Lastly, I will update this article with the date of collection once I receive my new passport. Overall, my DIY passport renewal journey at the Alausa Passport Office has been a positive one, highlighting the potential for a smooth and timely process for all passport applicants when you take ownership of your application and things run efficiently. Blessings ![]() ADDENDUM: I PICKED UP THE RENEWED PASSPORT ON THE 23rd, MAY 2025 (EXACTLY 3 WEEKS FROM THE DAY OF BIOMETRICS) Cheers as you try to get yours |

Chai!!! Why una be like this ![]() Pix: Man carrying the dead python...this pix has been recently used to describe a snake killed in ajegunle!!! Na wa oo to una @ story fabricators ![]() |
How will one see such a monster around and wont kill it...maybe all the snake right activists can come up with methods of restraining this beast from striking humans. That way, they won't be killed once found in human territories. Else, I won't spare anyone I find again (killed one late last year at my backyard). |
Lordabas:Well said Lordabas. |
jcgodfrey:Nothing good comes easy but with the right instructions, the process is worth the stress. I'm a guy... |
Olaolufred:Don't get me wrong Fred, I'm not an Amodu fan, neither Keshi's. All I'm saying is that Amodu kinda has a good history of helping SE qualify. Be it as it may, by November we will know who reality will be staring at....just that you will be happy should SE make it. Won't you? |
Olaolufred:You sound so confident? But I'm leaning on a bit of optimism. As it is, Amodu will want to do everything possible to make SE qualify by winning the 2 matches left so as to convince NFF to give him permanent employment. Amodu will want to etch his name in history. |
NFF...experts at recycling indigenous coaches. Just moved from the fry pan into the fire. Don't see the difference between Keshi & Amodu. I knew he would be shown the exit, either in the midst or after the qualifiers. Good luck though to Amodu. Sha try & make Naija qualify first... |
yokiti: Apart from the camp experience, allawee and maybe "making impact" in your PPA, the exemption letter will also perform the roles of NYSC discharge certificate for those who were exempted. Thanks a lot @ Yokiti... He was already 30 before graduation. And I think I've seen his o'level certificate; his date of birth is stated on it. But my fear for him is how to get a job with an exemption certificate seeing that most firms want younger prospects in terms of age. |
chibuezecu: Tell him to contact me on BB: 221925EC@Chibuezecu....I thought it will be nice if you proffer a solution on this issue here because someone else might need it. |
Anthony8: Let him go to any court close to him and swear for an affidavit of age. There he can reduce his age to any limitThanks @Anthony8. But his name is already on the exemption list pasted in his school. I thought the affidavit thing is only possible when one hasn't graduated. And btw, DSA said nothing can be done for him since his name is already on the exemption list. But I strongly believe there is always a way out. |

tia4fame: Hello. Please can anyone recommend a good piano for me. I want to get one for my church. They just stole the one the church was using before. Thank you all.I'm so so sorry for commenting so late. You should have bought one now but if not, just read on. Getting a new keyboard depends on your budget. But you can go for Yamaha S710 (not more than 150k), S900 or S910 (around 240k). I love diz ones...they are good. But if you let me know ur budget, I can recommend sometin good within dt range. Once again, pls accept my apologies. |
Now, you can learn how to play the keyboard/piano. Download these lessons from the blog below. One is "piano lessons for beginners" and the other is "piano chord theory (for intermediates)". The reason I couldnt upload here is because they are more than the 200kb that is required for any upload. So, visit www.easypianolearning..com to download them. |
