The group said in its Twitter feed on Friday that it blew up the NNPC gas and crude trunk line close to Warri in Delta State, Nigeria’s Niger Delta region.

The group said that the facility was “heavily guarded” by the Nigerian military, in an apparent attempt to mock the Nigerian armed forces’ capacity to check its activities.

“At 11:45pm on Thursday.@Niger Delta Avengers blew up other #NNPC Gas and Crude trunkline close to Warri. Pipeline that was heavily guarded by Military,” the group tweeted.

The spokesman for the Ijaw Youth Council, Mr Eric Omare, said that another crude pipeline was attacked on Thursday night near Batan Oil field in Warri.

He added that there were two simultaneous attacks on the PPMC and NNPC pipelines.

The NNPC is yet to confirm this incident.

The attack is coming as the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, said that government needs to improve its amnesty programme for militants in the Niger Delta to address neglect by the government and international oil companies.

A spokesperson for the group, Mudoch Agbinibo, had earlier this month warned the Nigerian government of further attacks if their demands were not met.
Last week, Chevron’s Makaraba crude oil line was attacked on the offshore Okan manifold in the region.

The attack followed previous ones on the company’s facilities at Abiteye, Utunana and Makaraba platforms in Warri South-West area of Delta State resulting in the loss of over 40,000 barrels of oil per day.

Jose Mourinho has been named the new head coach of Nigeria following the departure of interim Samson Siasia.

Mourinho signed a four-year contract to take charge of the Super Eagles, while Mutiu Adepoju, Kanu Nwankwo and Peter Rufai join him as his backroom staff.

The former Chelsea coach will be tasked with qualifying Nigeria for the 2018 World Cup having missed out of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations billed for Gabon.

The 53-year-old had been linked with Manchester United job but has agreed a deal with Nigeria which is due to last until 2020, after Sunday Oliseh quit his post on February 25, 2016.

"I have the pleasure to confirm I have committed to a legendary African side, with the massive challenge of qualifying for the Russia 2018 World Cup," Mourinho told Goal.

"I am lucky because for years I had the fortune to coach big teams like Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid, and now I have the opportunity to coach another big team like Nigeria. It is an honour and I want to keep winning.

A church shaped like a giant version of Cinderella's fabled glass slipper has been built in Taiwan to entice female visitors.

Over 320 tinted glass panels were used to build the 16-metre-tall high-heeled shoe, which was constructed by the local government of Taiwan's Southwest Coast National Scenic Area.

The church will not hold ceremonies, but is to be used as a venue and backdrop for couples' pre-wedding photographs – a popular tradition in the country.


"We want to make it a blissful, romantic avenue," the administration's recreation section manager Pan Tsuei-ping. "Every girl imagines how they will look like when they become the bride."

Although it is not clear what is inside the building, a stage is located in the opening of the shoe, about halfway up the structure.

According to local media reports, a government spokesman said the building would be geared towards attracting women.

An agreement has been reached by two Kenyan men to marry one woman who have been dating the men secretly for over four years now.

Sylvester Mwendwa and Elijah Kimani signed the agreement after the lady refused to choose between the two, claiming she loves them equally. They would stay in her house on a rotational basis and will both help raise any children she bears, according to the agreement.

Community policing Officer, Abdallah Abdulrahman was said to have persuaded the two men to marry the woman after he saw them fighting over her in Mombasa County.

“I talked to both of them and they claim they love her equally and cannot live without her. I asked the woman to choose but she refused, saying ‘I cannot lose either of them, I love them both’”, Mr. Abdulrahman was quoted by the Daily Nation.

Mr. Mwendwa openly told the BBC African Service that he loved the woman and said the contract would “set boundaries” and “keep the peace between him and Mr. Kimani.

“It could have been very dangerous if the other man would have come to her house and caught me… So our agreement is good as it sets boundaries and helps us keep peace’’, he said.

But Lawyers in the country say the marriage would only be recognized if the men could prove that polyandry was or is part of their custom. (Polyandry is a type of marriage why by a woman marries more than one husband).

Detail of the agreement the local Daily Nation Newspaper published has it that: “We have agreed that from today we will not threaten or have jealous feelings because of our wife, who says she’s not ready to let go of any of us,”.

A piglet born with the face of a monkey has baffled locals and prompted both experts and social media users to speculate on what could have caused the defect.

The facial deformity resulted in the mutant pig having a simian jaw, a considerably shorter snout and a protruding forehead so that it resembled a monkey.

Its peculiar appearance led it to being branded ‘monkey pig’ after images of it surfaced on social media websites and quickly went viral.

A video of the strange creature showed it being held by its owner as crowds gathered to get a closer look at it in the city of Ciego de Avila in central Cuba.

The pig quickly became something of a local tourist attraction, with people coming from across the area to take pictures of its remarkable features before it died just four days old.

According to local media, the owner visited a vet and was told that the piglet had been born with a congenital defect, which caused its strange appearance and untimely death.

The word faceless is tossed around quite a bit these days. Oftentimes you hear someone complaining about a big, faceless corporation screwing over its employees. But this story gives a whole new perspective to the concept of being faceless.
Khadija Khatoon is a 21-year-old woman from Kolkata, West Bengal, India and she was born without a face. While not completely faceless, this woman has no eyes or nose. The only facial feature she has is a slit on her left cheek. The slit isn’t quite a mouth either, as Khatoon’s head and face are covered with excessive skin folds. Doctors have diagnosed her with Neurofibromatosis. When she was born, her parents, Rashid Mulla and Amina Bibi, knew she was different. She did not open her eyes for two months and there were excessive skin folds over her eyes.
When her parents finally took their infant to the hospital to consult with doctors, Khadija ended up spending six months in the hospital as she was subjected to a battery of tests. At the end of those six months, the physicians informed her parents that, in all likelihood, any attempt to surgically correct Khadija’s condition would result in her death. So her parents returned to their rural village with no idea what to expect or how long they would be able to keep their only daughter.

In recent weeks, her situation has received international media attention. A local official, Rupak Dutta, was passing through Kolkata when he noticed Khadja. He decided to help address her situation by petitioning the government for money to help the young woman combat her affliction. Surgeons have been informed of her case and now speculate that her Neurofibromatosis is hiding a dangerous tumor, going so far as to suggest she may die if surgery isn’t performed to remove the excess skin and the underlying growth. Such a surgery is outside the financial capabilities of her family of five, which survives on a little over $100 per month. Not to be deterred, Dutta organized a Crowdfunder page to raise money for the surgery.

While the fundraising processes continues, enough money has already been raised to begin the first round of testing to help treat Khadja’s condition. This bizarre story may soon have a happy ending.

Boko Haram activists raided a border village in Niger, killing four people and torching some 50 homes, a local official said on Monday. Two other people were wounded in the assault on Saturday evening, said Fougou Boukar, an official from the restive Diffa region, adding that the attackers then fled to Nigeria.

“There has been enormous damage with about 50 houses burnt,” he told state television, putting the number of assailants at about 10. “The Boko Haram members were armed with Kalashnikovs and came across the Komadougou Yobe” river that divides Niger and Nigeria, Boukar said.

State television showed hundreds of distressed villagers, praying in memory of the victims. Some of them showed scores of empty cartridges they had gathered after the attack. Boko Haram, the radical Sunni jihadists who want to create a hardline Islamic state in northeast Nigeria, have spread their attacks to neighbouring Niger, Chad and Cameroon.

Their six-year insurgency has left at least 17,000 people dead and made more than 2.6 million homeless. In Niger’s Diffa region alone, hundreds of people have died in Boko Haram raids and suicide bombings since February.

Last week, Boko Haram killed 18 people and injured 11 others during a raid in the village of Wogom located near the southeastern town of Bosso. Three of the victims, including the local imam, had their throats slit. The United Nations has registered around 50 attacks and clashes between Islamist fighters and Niger troops since February.
