Okorocha Insist On Taxing Imolites, Gives More Details

Despite the controversy raging in many quarters of Imo State based on the six million naira expected to be remitted to State Government as counterpart fund for development of the Communities, the Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has stressed that the three thousand naira levy is in line with the new Imo House of Assembly Law on Autonomous Communities for Development and not a contribution to State Government, as was being misconstrued in some quarters.
He made the clarification while addressing the State Chairmen and Local Government Chairmen of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers at their Council Secretariats Owerri.
The Governor spelt out the Implication of non compliance by Communities, stressing that non adherence to the law would mean that those who are not able to provide three thousand leviable adults and their three thousand naira paid into the account of the Communities would be assumed to have lost the status of a Community.
According to him, the law is already in place, and that segment of the law was approved by De Sam Mbakwe in 1979 for the people to contribute money for rapid development, as all hands must be in deck to actualise this.
He urged the Traditional Rulers to explain this to their Colleagues and Wards that he intends to achieve this before the end of his Administration, pointing out that Imo State House of Assembly would oversee the take off of the Projects, which would be completed before the end of December this year.
Owelle Okorocha announced that the Projects have been segmented to be actualised in the first two hundred and fifteen small scale Industries, which would commence the implementation of one Community to one Factory Project of his administration.
He maintained that the Communities would provide six million naira from the three thousand naira levy to be paid by their three thousand taxable adults, while the State Government would provides a counterpart fund of four million naira for the Projects, which he said would bring rapid development to the Communities and create jobs for the Youths.
Responding, the Chairman Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Samuel Ohiri assured the Governor of their commitment to the realisation of the Projects.
He assured the Governor that they have formed various Committees to that effect.
Present at the occasion was the Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Chief Acho Ihim who is expected to implement the procedure.

Imo Govt Insist Tax Clearance Before Any Transaction

Imo State Government has issued a Press Release Directing every legible Tax Payer in the State to obtained his/ her Tax Clearance Certificate of the year 2018 before embarking on Official Government transactions such as; processing of Landed Property, Admission into Government Schools, Transactions with Government MDAs and Parastatals, and establishment of Private Organisations.
The Statement maintains that Tax Clearance Certificate is now a pre condition for every processing of Documents and dealings with the State Government as practiced in other States of the Federation and in the World.
It therefore advised Imo Tax Payers to go to Imo State Board of Internal Revenue, Block 4 State Secretaries, Port Harcourt Road Owerri and obtain the 2018 Tax Clearance Certificate.

Government Promises College Of Health/Management Science Amaigbo A Facelift

Imo State Government has promised a facelift to the Management, Staff and Students of College of Health/ Management Science, Amaigbo in Nwangele Local Government Area.
The promise was made by the Commissioner for Tertiary and Non Formal Education, Prof Florence Emenalo when she visited the College.
According to her, the Institution is not yet accorded the recognition as a Tertiary Institution because of his attachment to the Ministry of Health Instead of Ministry of Education.
Mrs. Emenalo noted that the State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha deemed it wise to create the Ministry of Tertiary Education to make for effective relationship between State owned Tertiary Institution and the State Government through the Ministry.
Prof. Emenalo explained that the Ministry had to visit all the State owned Tertiary Institutions to ascertain their needs and pledged Government's commitment to upgrade the College to a higher Standard.
She assured them of more support from Government when she was shown round the College by the Provost, Dr Kenis Duru.
The Provost expressed joy over the Appointment of the Commissioner to be in charge of Tertiary and none formal Education, and thanked them for the visit.
He also commended the Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha for the free and qualitative Education Program.

Ahiara Polytechnic To Start 2018/2019 Admissions This Year

Ahiara Polytechnic in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State is expected to start Admissions for the 2018/2019 Academic Session this year.
The Rector of Imo Polytechnic Umuagwo, Rev Fr Whence Madu disclosed this at the proposed Site of the Institution located at the present Ahiara Technical School during a final facility assessment tour of the Project.
According to Rev. Fr. Madu, with the existing facilities, coupled with a little renovation, normal Classes are expected to commence at the
School for the 2918/2019 Academic Session.
He commended the Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha for his vision, stressing that Education is the major Project that brings development to the people.
Present at the Inspection was the Committee for the upgrade of the School to a Polytechnic.
The Leader of the Committee, Engr. Ema Ojinere informed the people of the Area that Government is desirous of seeing every Child in the State educated, and has therefore introduced Free Education from Primary to Tertiary level.
Engr. Ojinere who is the Imo State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, maintained that establishing more Higher Institutions of higher learning in the State are all efforts geared towards developing the State and giving the people a sense of belonging.
Responding, the Traditional Ruler of Nnarambia Ahiara Community, Eze Pius Onyekwere expressed gratitude to the Governor for his magnanimity to the people of Ahiara and Mbaise as a whole.
He commended the Committee for their dedication to duty and pledged his support toward the realisation of the Projects.
