able20:With all the corruption in Russia which ranks them as the most corrupt country in europe and with the way their Oligarchs loot the country silly you still say this? Putin is one of the most corrupt humans alive and he does not give a damn about corruption. Even their military which he directly oversees is overflowing with corruption and looting.

Ukrainian forces are clearly an elite team of fighters... They know what to do and they do it so well. The moment Russia lost Kharkiv I knew it was only a matter of time that they would take Izium and be within range of Donbas and here we are. Their guns are now within range of Izium as they keep pushing forward which has caused Russian troops to once again change plans and focus on Lyman as their staging point which is their last line of defence before Donbas ![]() I love this |
Ukrainian gunners shelled a Russian air-defense system in eastern Ukraine probably sometime in the past couple of days. That itself isn’t all that noteworthy. Ukraine’s forces have destroyed dozens of Russian air-defenses since Russia widened its war on Ukraine in late February. What’s important is where the shelling took place: just three miles northwest of Russian-occupied Izium, 60 miles southeast of Kkarkiv in eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region. Ukraine’s best medium artillery, its new American-made M777s, can lob 100-pound shells around 19 miles. That means Ukrainian forces have staged artillery no farther than 22 miles from Izium—and are blasting away. Izium until recently was the locus of Russia’s faltering offensive in Donbas. The dozen or so Russian battalions in the area—15 percent of Russia’s entire army in Ukraine—in recent weeks pushed through Izium then west a few miles along the P79 highway. The Ukrainian army’s 81st Air Mobile Brigade fought a tactical retreat along the P79, extracting a heavy toll on the Russians for every mile they advanced. The result, however, was a Russian penetration several miles into Ukrainian-held territory south of Kharkiv, where Kyiv’s troops now are mopping up. The Izium salient represents a risk—to both sides. If the Russians can deepen and strengthen the salient, they might encircle the Ukrainian brigades south of Izium in Severodonetsk and nearby communities. Some of the best and most experienced Ukrainian units are in the Severodonetsk pocket. Surrounding and destroying them could tilt the war in Russia’s favor, at least in short term. But there’s risk to the Russians, too. The Izium salient is vulnerable at its flanks, especially its northern flank. As Ukraine’s 92nd and 93rd Mechanized Brigades wrap up their operations around Kharkiv, they’ve shifted south to join the fight around Izium. If Ukrainian troops west and south of Izium can draw out the Russian battalions, the 93rd in particular is in a position to cut across the Russians’ supply lines and isolate the front-line troops. That the Ukrainians now are within artillery range of Izium is a strong indicator that the salient indeed represents a greater danger to the Russians than it does to the Ukrainians. Russia already has lost as much as a third of its army in Ukraine; a defeat in Izium could add to that loss—a lot. The Kremlin seems to appreciate the danger. There are hints the Izium salient no longer is the focus on Russia’s efforts in Donbas—and that Russian troops are repositioning south to join the fight around Lyman, a settlement that sits astride some important roads and railways and currently is under Ukrainian control. Russian units including the T-72-equipped 90th Guards Tank Division in the past week have been advancing north and south of Lyman, clearly aiming to surround the town’s Ukrainian defenders, potentially including elements of the 57th Motorized Brigade. The Russians are trying to do around Lyman what the Ukrainians are threatening to do farther north around Izium—get behind an enemy force and cut it off. But don’t lose sight of the bigger picture. In late February, Moscow’s war aims were maximalist. It intended to capture Kyiv, decapitate the Ukrainian government and seize both Donbas and the entire Ukrainian Black Sea coast, cutting off the country from the sea. Three months later, Moscow’s aims are minimalist. Kyiv is safe, Ukraine’s main port Odesa is safe and the only place Russia stands any chance of “winning” anything is in Donbas. And only parts of Donbas. https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidaxe/2022/05/18/ukraines-guns-are-in-range-of-izium-thats-bad-news-for-russia/amp/

Vladimir Putin has suspended two senior commanders over Russia's failure to capture Kharkiv and the sinking of Black Sea Fleet flagship Moskva, during the Ukraine invasion Russia has fired senior commanders who are considered to have performed poorly during the early stages of the Ukraine invasion, according to British intelligence. Vladimir Putin is said to have axed two of his military leaders in relation to the failure to capture second city Kharkiv as well as the sinking of Moscow's flagship Moskva. Lieutenant General Serhiy Kisel, who commanded the elite 1st Guards Tank Army, has been suspended, as has Vice Admiral Igor Osipov, who commanded Russia ’s Black Sea Fleet. Russian Chief of the General Staff Valeriy Gerasimov, meanwhile, likely remains in a post, but it is unclear whether he "retains the confidence of President Putin", the intelligence says. A statement from the Ministry of Defence adds: "A culture of coverups and scapegoating is probably prevalent within the Russian military and security system. "Many officials involved in the invasion of Ukraine will likely be increasingly distracted by efforts to avoid personal culpability for Russia’s operational setbacks." The 510-crew missile Moskva ship was struck by two Ukrainian missiles and was a major military blow for Russia. Putin's nation still refuses to acknowledge that dozens and even hundreds of missing sailors on the ship are dead after it sank on April 14. Kharkiv fell early during the war but in recent weeks, Russian forces have abandoned the area around the city. "We have some success in these directions," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak told MSNBC this week. It came as invaders across the country were forced to completely change tact after struggling to gain a central foothold as it moved in on Kyiv. The capital city has always held firm and Kremlin fighters were eventually ordered to withdraw from the region to focus on the southeast. However, despite several weeks of further bloody conflict on the new main front in the Donbas border region - which Moscow claims on behalf of separatists - it has made little headway. Where Putin has seen rare success, is in Mariupol. After months of daily shell attacks leaving the southern strategic port city almost completely in ruins, 700 Ukrainian fighters have this week surrendered allowing Russia to shore up control. Kyiv has ordered its garrison in Mariupol to stand down, but the ultimate outcome of Europe's bloodiest battle for decades remains unresolved. Moscow says it is engaged in a "special military operation" to demilitarise and "denazify" its neighbour. The West and Kyiv call that a false pretext for invasion. Around Slovyansk to the north of Donetsk, in the Donbas, Russian forces "suffered significant losses" around the settlement of Velyka Komyshuvakha, according to reports. Ukrainian forces shelled a border village in Russia's western region of Kursk at dawn on Thursday, killing at least one civilian, regional Russian Governor Roman Starovoit said. Ukrainian presidential adviser Oleksiy Arestovych said Ukrainian saboteurs had blown up railway tracks ahead of an armoured train carrying Russian troops in the occupied southern city of Melitopol. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/breaking-vladimir-putin-suspends-two-27004929.amp

richmind2019:Why are the neighboring countries to Russia running away from her? That is the question you should be asking. |
This is a strong show of togetherness and solidarity. They said they would apply together and they have. The message is loud and clear. We have each other's backs and our countries are United on this resolve! Oya Putin they have thrown the gauntlet...go and attack them if you can ![]() |
BRUSSELS — Finland and Sweden on Wednesday submitted letters formally expressing interest in joining NATO, a historic moment for two countries that held fast to military nonalignment until Russia’s invasion of Ukraine upended their thinking about security. The delivery of the letters to the alliance’s Brussels headquarters marks the start of an accession process that could take months, but that is ultimately expected to result in an expansion of NATO from 30 to 32 members, remaking Europe’s post-Cold War security architecture along the way. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/05/18/finland-sweden-nato-apply/

Read this article extract from Aljazeera from last month and call yourself stupid and if you still want to argue foolishly after reading the well laid out and thought out plan by Bulgaria below then your idiocy came customized. Bulgaria’s response to the disruption of the gas flows from Russia merits special attention. In contrast to Poland, which currently takes less than half of its gas from the Russian Federation, the Balkan country is reliant on Russia’s Gazprom for over 90 percent of its supplies. |

incandescentena:The list of Russian soldiers killed just on the 10th alone is just too many that I cannot post them all. Ukraine is entering them wotowoto anyhow because unlike Russia, Ukraine are fighting intelligently and not just using numbers. The fact that Russia has more numbers in Ukraine means they would get killed more. I couldn't go through the entire list ![]()

michael132:Then why are you complaining and blaming the FG for bandit/Boko Haram killings of civilians? Make it make sense |
nedekid:You actually watched a video and suddenly manufactured "What if they took pop shots at the Russian soldiers" out of thin air when absolutely nothing in the video remotely suggested that. It's probably the same way you would witness a lot of humans dying via a plane crash and claim a car ran into the plane while in the air before it crashed That's disagreeing stupidly and that's what you did |
nedekid:Disagree intelligently and not stupidly |
A Councilor elected for Kinkiba Ward of Soba local government area of Kaduna State, Abdul Adamu Kinkiba, has been arrested with AK-47 rifle on his way to deliver same to terrorists in one of the deadly forests in the State. Grandemperor:We are talking about the persons killed here. Both are civilians. One owned the car dealership while the older man was the security guard. The Russian soldiers searched both of them and they were unarmed. That was before they asked for cigarettes. So what nonsense are you talking about? They should avoid the Russian soldiers who came to their establishment and broke in? The Russian soldiers even came to the guardhouse and spoke to them before both of them dressed up and went out to meet the soldiers |
nedekid:I would like to believe you were not dropped on your head sometime in your life. Pop shots taken by whom? Can you not see that it's just different camera angles from different CCTV cameras in the car dealership? Immediately they turned to walk away they had to show footage from another CCTV camera for the sake of clearly showing the men walking away and the Russian soldiers coming up behind them to open fire. Which pop shots are you talking about? Is it the same men who were searched and no weapons found on them that took the pop shots with what? Thin air? |
