Zelenskyy was an anti-Putin actor who acted in a film where he famously had to break up a fight by shouting "VLADMIR PUTIN IS DEAD". That moment defined him and Ukrainians fell in love with the guy so much so that he was massively voted for during their elections and won the elections. Zelenskyy received a massive 73 percent of the votes to 25 percent which his closest opponent Poroshenko got.

Zelenskyy being anti-Putin ensured Putin no longer called the shots in Ukraine.

This war was also a ploy by Putin to either eliminate him physically or take over Kyiv by ousting Zelenskyy so he can install another puppet as it was before which was why he amassed massive military equipment toward Kyiv at the start of the war and boasted that he would take Kyiv in 2 weeks.

He failed woefully in all attempts which made him change his plans to the current situation of staging in Donbas just to save face.

My friend in Finland says Finland and Russia are still friendly and the train is still going from Helsinki to Moscow. Infact, many ordinary Finns support Russia in Ukraine.
