The National Conference will resume on Monday (today) as delegates reconvene to consider the final report of the conference. The conference had adjourned abruptly on July 14 without being able to reach agreement on two major controversial issues of resource control and the beneficiaries of the proposed intervention fund for states currently facing destruction as a result of attack by the members of the terrorist Islamic sect, Boko Haram. The conference’s Assistant Secretary, Media and Communications, Mr. James Akpandem, had told one of our correspondents on Friday that the final report of the conference, which he said was up of four volumes, was ready. He said copies of the report were being produced and that each delegate would be given copies on resumption. However, the delegates would be reconvening amid the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak in the country with members expressing fears concerning their health. A female delegate, who called our correspondent to register her concern said, “I hope that the conference will take into note the need to avoid the spread of Ebola at the conference. “This is because some of our fellow conferees might have traveled to infested areas or even has contact with those already infected with the virus. “We have to make sure that we are all save because after there is life after the conference.” Asked the precautionary measure she had taken on her own, she said she had bought some bottles of hand sanitizer which she said she would be using intermittently Another delegate from the North-Central, who corroborated the first delegate, said each delegate would be expected to handle his or her personal healthcare. “We are not saying that we should bring health certificate to the conference, but we can as well make sure that we take precautionary measures in order to make sure that we are not infected,” he added. However, the Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, has said that his ministry will not make any arrangement to screen the 492 delegates at the National Conference as they reconvene in Abuja on Monday (today). Onyebuchi toldThe PUNCHthat there would also be no provision of sanitisers for the delegates, but that the confab’s secretariat should take necessary measures to protect the health of the delegates. When asked if there would be any provision toward preventing a possible spread of the Ebola virus as the confab members reconvene to deliberate on pending issues, the health minister said, “No.” “No such plan to screen them (the delegates),” he said in a text message to our correspondent. The Secretariat of the conference should take measures to ensure good sanitary conditions,” Onyebuchi added. Chukwu had announced on Friday that no fewer than 139 people had been placed under surveillance following their alleged contact with the Liberian victim of the deadly Ebola virus, Patrick Sawyer. Addressing a press briefing in Lagos, Onyebuchi said two new cases of Ebola infection had been recorded in Lagos, which now brings to nine the number of cases recorded in the country so far. The minister said aside the two fresh cases there were also six suspected cases which had not been confirmed. The National Conference will resume on Monday (today) as delegates reconvene to consider the final report of the conference. Worried by this practice and the deadly Ebola Virus,I posted it here on Nairaland and people were making all sorts of comments, you can read here https://www.nairaland.com/1841033/ebola-church, Hence I tried to make investigation into the catholic church take on this deadly viral disease and its connection with the "sign of the cross" ritual of the roman catholic church and I got the information that the catholic bishops are working underground to find a way of taking care of this ritual by either suspending it or otherwise, of which I also posted it here on Nairaland and seeks residents of the wonderful city of lagos confirmation , although it didn't generate much comments maybe due the difficulty in getting such sensitive information, But today nairalanders can authoritatively tell you that its real, not just in lagos but also in Benin and other Archdiocese as some priests announced it before the commencement of mass while some deliberately skipped it as you can read in the comments on the thread below. To me , this is a welcome development as they always say and I qoute" a stitch in time saves nine Source: https://www.nairaland.com/1849180/catholic-faithful-sign-piece-observed#25329348 |
The World Health Organisation has said clinical trials of a preventative vaccine for the Ebola virus, produced by British pharmaceutical company, GlaxoSmithKline, may begin next month and be made available by 2015. There is currently no available cure or vaccine for the virus that causes the severe fever and, in the worst cases, unstoppable bleeding. Ebola has claimed close to 1,000 lives in the latest epidemic that was first reported in March and spread across West Africa. Fatality rate can approach 90 per cent, although the latest outbreak has reportedly killed around 55 to 60 per cent of those infected. According to a French news wire, Agence-France Presse, the world health body’s Head of Vaccines and Immunisation, Jean-Marie Okwo Bele, told French radio on Saturday that it planned to begin the clinical trials in the United States and Africa. He added that he was optimistic about making the vaccine commercially available. “We are targeting September for the start of clinical trials, first in the United States and certainly in African countries, since that’s where we have the cases. “We think that if we start in September, we could already have results by the end of the year. “And since this is an emergency, we can put emergency procedures in place, so that we can have a vaccine available by 2015,” Bele said. Several vaccines are being tested, and a treatment made by San Diego-based Mapp Biopharmaceutical, ZMapp, has shown promising results on monkeys and may have been effective in treating two Americans recently infected in Africa. Meanwhile, three people on Saturday have been isolated at a Ghana hospital for showing symptoms of the Ebola virus. The three persons are being kept at the Nsawam Government Hospital in the eastern region of the country for observation. According to Myjoyonline.com, blood samples of the patients have been taken for laboratory test at the Noguchi Memorial Institute. Among the patients was a 16-year-old girl who went to the hospital on Thursday with blood in her urine. The second person, a 56-year-old man, also came to the hospital from a nearby village, Adawso, with blood in his urine. The third patient was reported to have blood in his urine and faeces and was in a feverish condition. He is a 53-year-old driver. Meanwhile, the Ghana Health Service is awaiting test results of a Burkinabe, who was admitted at a health facility in Bawku for showing signs of the virus in the northern region of the country. ...... As nigeria set to host Sierra leone and DR congo in their group qualifying match. The outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus in Africa may cripple sporting activities on the continent if not checked on time, reports’TANA AIYEJINA Sports in Africa may soon be facing trying times after the deadliest ever outbreak of the Ebola virus hit the western part of the continent in recent months, causing panic and fear among people living in countries where it took place. There have been reported cases of the virus in the West African region, with Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia highly affected while there have been few cases of it in Nigeria. It has reportedly had 1,711 casualties in West Africa, with 932 of them dead. The symptoms of the virus, reportedly first diagnosed in 1976, include muscle pain, fever, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea and headache. It can also lead to reduced functioning of the liver and kidneys, before severe bleeding occurs, followed by death. Transmission of the virus can occur through direct contact with blood or bodily fluids such as sweat, from an infected person, which makes it dangerous for sports people, who are engaged in contact sports in Africa. Sporting activities generally results to lots of sweating, one of the likely means of contacting Ebola, thus increasing fears in the African sports industry of a widespread of the virus. The deadly virus caused a stir at the just concluded Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, when concerns were raised about Sierra Leonean 32-year-old cyclist Moses Sesay suffering from the disease, after he fell sick and was admitted to a hospital close to the athletes village. This led to suggestions in the media that Ebola was widespread at the Games but Sesay was cleared of the virus and went on to compete in the cycling event. Already, there are fears that there could be a major boycott of top continental competitions by countries that may be likely pitted against countries which has suffered from the outbreak of the virus. On Wednesday, the third edition of the Chika Chukwumerije Sports Foundation taekwondo championship, scheduled for Abuja, was postponed till further notice “due to the current spread of the Ebola virus in the West African region.” A statement by the organisers of the CCSF, made available to our correspondent via SMS, read, “Eleven countries confirmed to participate in the championships, nine of them from West Africa; and over 1, 500 persons expected at the two-day event, but the health and safety of the people is important.” The Sierra Leone national team, the Leone Stars, were last weekend denied entry to Seychelles by the Island’s immigration officials ahead of a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier scheduled for Victoria, the capital city, due to the virus. Sierra Leone has the most confirmed cases of the virus: 574 including 252 deaths since the virus spread from neighbouring Guinea in May. Seychelles consequently withdrew from the AFCON qualifiers over fears that their players and even officials could contact the disease during the continental match, while Sierra Leone moved on to the Group stage. However, Sierra Leone’s participation in the qualifiers may have hit the rocks, after the country suspended all football activities with immediate effect in a bid to curtail the spread of the virus. They play Ivory Coast away before hosting DR Congo in Group D next month and officials of the Sierra Leone Football Association are hopeful of playing on a neutral ground if the country does not lift the ban before their next games. “We’re hoping that the Ebola disease would be contained before our home game against DR Congo and we’ll be able to play them in Freetown,” SLFA member Abu Bakarr Kamara was quoted as saying by africanfootball.com. But it remains to be seen if their next opponents will be willing to play the upcoming games against the Leone Stars in any venue. Liberia had earlier, also suspended all football activities in the country in an effort to control the spread of the virus. The West African country’s Ebola case count has risen to 329, including 156 deaths, according to latest statistics from the World Health Organisation. Spokesman of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ademola Olajire, said the football body would act on the directives of the health ministry. Olajire said, “It (Ebola) is rampant and much widespread in those countries (where football has been stopped). “It’s a health matter; we have not been informed by the Ministry of Health that it has gotten to that level in Nigeria and that we have to stop football. “We will be waiting for the health ministry for updates and on what to do, but we will not hesitate to do what is necessary, if it is necessary.” After the postponement of the CCSF tourney, fears that more continental competitions may suffer cancellations, boycotts and withdrawals have been rife, with the adverse effect being a loss of money for athletes and sponsors of these events. But General Manager,MultiChoice Nigeria, Martin Mabutho, is optimistic the virus will not have any negative effect on sports marketing in Africa, saying his organisation has joined in the fight against Ebola. Mabutho said, “We have to wait and see what happens over the next couple of weeks. The virus has struck before but it didn’t affect sports or the marketing aspect. We still saw sports people doing their jobs, African countries competed in international competitions and nothing happened. “The Williams sisters came to Africa to play tennis around the time there was Ebola outbreak. It has come again, but it’s my hope that we will stop it. We take comfort in the fact that this is not the first time it has affected the continent, because anytime it comes up, health officials have moved swiftly to curtail the spread of it and we’ve gone back to our normal lives. “As a responsible corporate organisation, we need to play our own part in trying to stop it. We have a programme to do on-air messages, public service announcements to urge people to be careful.” Sports medicine practitioner, Dr. Bukola Bojuwoye, said sporting activities could still take place across the country without fear of contracting the virus. “It’s obvious that since it has high incidents rates in countries like Sierra Leone and Liberia, then you’ll have to stop contact. But we haven’t got to that level in Nigeria, where we need to stop football or sporting activities because of Ebola. But if the incidents become higher, we may need to stop as well,” the former Falconets team doctor said. “At the moment, Nigeria is not in an epidemic state. The scare of the disease is based on contact and the kind of contact you have in sports is not the kind of long term contact compared to someone who is in daily contact with someone with the virus for a long period of time. “For now, until we know that it is very rampant in our society, I don’t advise we stop any sporting activities for now,” he added. Bojuwoye shed more light on the virus as regards sporting activities. He said, “Sports may not be affected but the panic that has gripped the people is leading a lot of people not to have the proper information about the real transmission of the disease. “At the moment, you don’t get to that contact level until you fall very ill because if the person is still moving, but has a virus in him, you can’t get a contact from him. But by the time the virus gets into the body fluids, the person will become sick and will be in the hospital. Such a person won’t be fit for sporting activities any longer. Most people that fall ill through contact with the disease are health care givers, who are helping those affected by the virus.” But he advised that precaution must be taken, when Nigeria play against countries with a widespread rate of the virus. “We need to take our normal precautions that have to do with health. If it’s necessary that we won’t go, then we stay back at home. But if we have to, then we have to make sure we wash our hands, and ensure that there are lots of sanitisers and face masks at our disposals. Maybe we can do all these but until WHO advises us further, we cannot take action on that,” Bojuwoye added. But newly elected President, FIBA-Africa Zone 3 (West African region), Col Sam Amedu (retd), said there was no cause for alarm. “The virus has caused a lot of damage in the region already, so we should not add more panic among the people. What I can tell you is that Ebola has not affected basketball in West Africa,” Amedu said. Even the fans may not be spared. Sports arenas are mostly built in such a way that spectators have bodily contact while cheering their teams or sportsmen and women. In fact, excited fans sometimes kiss and even hug while sweating in the stands. At the grassroots level, families have already started taking precautions. Mr. John Aikhore said he has withdrawn his 12-year-old son from his football academy in Egbeda, on the outskirts of Lagos. “They say prevention is better than cure. The virus is new to Nigerians and we don’t have proper information about it yet, so I decided to withdraw my son from the academy until further notice. If things get better, he will resume at the academy, because I want him to become a world-class footballer,” Aikhore said. Source: http://www.punchng.com/sports/ebola-crisis-grips-african-sports/ |

With the recent outbreak of Ebola Viral disease and its uncommon medium of contact especially through contacts with patient's sweat, saliva, etc, hence comparing this with the nature of drilling corp members undergoes during the compulsory 21 days camping period , I suggest the Federal Government of Nigeria through the NYSC should as a matter of urgency suspend the ongoing orientation camping exercise for now. Just like it suspended the passing out parade popularly known as POP due to insecurity in the country pending when reassessment of the world acknowledge one of most dangerous viral disease "Ebola viral disease" Nigerian deserves this and Ebola is more deadly than the Boko haram |
Let me start by predicting (prediction) victory for ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, even though I would have love another aspirant to win but my statistics and analysis indicates he will win today's osun election though with little margin So what's your prediction, Vision, guess etc? |
Today is a day so many of us have waited patiently for, especially the political class, hence we thank God Almighty for the grace to be alive today. Meanwhile, in the build up of Osun governorship election slated for today August 9, 2014 much have been said and many things has happened already. Ranging from the primary election, flag off or campaigns, The lies,Intrigues, Propaganda and Counter Propaganda, Cross defection, Adoption by political parties, theories have been propounded, online voting result released with two different winners by two acclaimed different agents organizing it ( just like the last NGF election ) shared of commodities including acclaimed expired rice all in the name of seeking eligible voter's votes especially by the two leading contenders for the race of the governorship sit of Osun. There is no gain saying some of these aspirants has also visited prayer houses, churches, mosque, traditionalists even sacrifices may have been made just to clinch the position, so many persons has aswell made their prediction but today is your day and now is your time to test your predictive power or better put your power of analysis, this wouldn't cause you much, while doing this note that this thread will serve as your reference tomorrow if your prediction finally wins or loose the election Lol. Today win determine this OSUN STATE/ THE STATE OF OSUN. Let's go there |
I posted on this section last week sunday on the ravaging Ebola virus and the christian pratice of exchange of peace popularly known as " ekele nke udo " in igbo language, common among the Roman Catholic Church . Incase you missed the thread you can read here- https://www.nairaland.com/1841033/ebola-church. However Information reaching me though unconfirmed says that the Catholic Bishop of the Archdiocese of Lagos has banned the continue practice of this ritual( exchange of peace ) amongst members during mass celebrations, it also has it that plans were on ground to establish another way of giving the holy communion during mass celebration, either to continue with the usual hand to tongue or hand to hand. This thread is not to cause confusion but only meant for confirmation by Catholic faithful that resides in Lagos. This is not in deviation from known cannon law as canon law did not prescribe any particular way of giving communion even as this is a measure taken to forestall the spread of this deadly virus even inside the church the person said. PLZ IF YOU ARE IN LAGOS , HOW TRUE IS. THIS? |
You need patience to read and appreciate this: a must read enjoy IN the days before the Osun gubernatorial elections, the indigenes of the State and other Nigerians were daily greeted by propaganda of the bizarre nature, some bordering on the desire to create fear in voters and prevent them either from turning out or, even if they did, to vote in a particular direction. And if the truth be told, the All Progressives Congress, APC, is roundly guilty of this. There can be only one reason for the resort to this form of propaganda: the party has no concrete structures on ground to show that it will win, and has therefore chosen the ignoble part of forcing a victory through. But the APC scored a measure of victory when it succeeded in convincing former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola to join and back the party. It cannot be denied Bola Tinubu and his ground forces, including Governor Rauf Aregbesola, that they won this battle while the war remains on. And for those who have been griping over comments about Tinubu made in the past by Oyinlola, they have to admit that though the Nigerian Army teaches you to be an officer and a gentleman, it did not say you could not eat your words. The country’s history is replete with military men at the highest, middle, and lower rungs who were less than officers and gentlemen in their speech and conduct like Oyinlola. It was Oyinlola who could not see the future that awaited him because he is a mere mortal who once declared that: “Everything about Bola Tinubu is fake.” Perhaps, Oyinlola has made a fake decision to join APC, or having now joined the fake political kingdom where the Asiwaju is king, we will see some wonders in the coming elections. Talking about the fake nature that has become the lot of the APC, Olisa Metuh, the spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was merciless in his choice of words over a statement credited to the APC over the deployment of security operatives in Osun. Lai Mohammed, National Publicity Secretary of the APC, had wondered why the Federal Government would send DSS (Department of State Security) operatives “masked and clad in black” to harass innocent citizens of the state. “As widely reported, DSS agents, armed to the teeth and riding in over 50 trucks, drove around Osogbo and other parts of Osun State on Wednesday blaring siren and shooting sporadically in the air, thus disrupting the normally peaceful life in the state,” he said. But courtesy of the PDP, apparently privy to the letter written by APC’s Osun governor, Rauf Aregbesola, to the Department of State Security, DSS, it was the APC-led Osun government that asked for the security men. What the misinformation by Lai has showed is that there is either a disconnect, or it was mischief-intended. “Residents,” Lai Mohammed claimed in his tissue of lies, “who were visibly traumatised by the shameful display of state power ran helter-skelter and wondered why their government has sent masked men, orninjas, to terrorise them. They now understand that the masked thugs who have been following the PDP candidate around on his campaign trail were actually government sanctioned. This is a power show taken too far, even with the well-known impunity tendencies of the Jonathan administration.” In stark display of ignorance, the APC asked a stupid question: “When did masks become part of the uniform of the State Security Service agents?” For the APC not to know that in some situations, all over the world, operatives wore masks shows the uninformed and ill-informed manner statements are put together by the APC. But PDP’s Olisa Metuh aptly dug in his finger nails into the APC’s jugular for its mistakes. “We find in this statement (by APC) the height of hypocrisy, especially as it is incontrovertible that it was the Osun APC governor who, in a letter dated July 4, 2014 and addressed to the Director General of the DSS, requested for the deployment ‘for the purpose of security and general protection ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State’ and ‘to help secure peace and make the election hitch free, as security is beefed up for the election.’ “It is therefore shocking and utterly despicable for the APC to turn round to point accusing fingers at the PDP and the Presidency when the DSS officials arrived and commenced their duties in line with the request of the Governor. While Nigerians have continued to express shock over this act of deception, we in the PDP ask: Is it a question of APC dishing out statements without cross-checking internally? Or is it a question of the party adopting lies, deceit and propaganda as ideology? “These questions have become necessary given that the APC has become infamous for fabrications as means to curry the support of unsuspecting Nigerians. We recall a similar statement by APC in June wherein it alleged that a plane carrying Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso to attend an APC rally in Ekiti to support Governor Kayode Fayemi’s re-election bid was denied landing permission in Akure, only for Kwankwaso’s Director of Press Affairs, Baba Dantiye, to announce that his boss was at another event in Kano and had no plans to travel to Ekiti State. “APC has since proved to be a party with little regard for integrity. This is a party that threw all sense of honour to the winds and condescended so low to lie over an issue as ordinary as the age of its 52 years old Youth Leader. We ask, when will these APC lies stop? We have in our hands a political party whose words and statements have suddenly become meaningless to most Nigerians. We want a credible opposition. We do not want a lying, deceitful and propaganda-infested opposition. This APC‘one-chance-bus’ filled with liars cannot lead Nigeria,” the party said. If all Nigerians are going to get are lies as campaign materials, then it is no wonder the APC lost the Ekiti elections, because while the party busies itself with lies and noise, the PDP is busy on ground doing the needful and sensitising voters to its agenda. ... And I ask again how far can APC go with their sheer display of ignorance, falsehood, propaganda and calculated attention diversion Source: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/08/osun-guber-poll-lies-lies/ |
Just stumbled on this. On vanguard newspapers enjoy! The federal goverment,Friday, has said that two new cases of Ebola infection have been confirmed in Lagos. This brings to seven new cases of Ebola in Lagos and a second death from the virus. Also, the federal government warned against bathing with salt water being circulated via SMSs and the social media as a cure for Ebola, saying it will prosecute individuals who spread such false information. The All Progressives Congress, APC, has uncovered the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s manual to rig Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State, complete with projected fake results in all the 30 local government areas of the state. At a press conference in Osogbo on Thursday, APC Chairman John Odigie Oyegun, said the rigging plans were contained in two documents prepared by the PDP in Osun, and which are now in the possession of the APC. The first is a ‘secret’ document marked ”HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL” that contains a meticulous outline of plans to rig the election, polling unit by polling unit, using pre-programmed ballot papers already designed and thumb printed with vanishing ink in favor of PDP. The second document, entitled ”Task Force: Operation (PDP) takeover of Osun”, lists the actions to be taken at most of the 30 Local Government Areas in the state, including thuggery, snatching of ballot boxes and instigation of violent clashes, the PDP members to coordinate the recommended actions and the APC members to be arrested to pave the way for such actions. The party said the ‘secret’ document further contains the plan to deploy specified numbers of impression ballot papers and vanishing ink in 1,195 polling units across 155 wards in all Local Government Areas of Osun State, in addition to a plan to de-register 47,000 voters, whose Voters Identification Numbers have been illegally acquired so they won’t find their names on the voters register on election day. It said the document also contains the number of pre-allotted votes for each local government to make up the number of 406,116, which the PDP has pre-allotted to itself even before the commencement of voting! APC gave the breakdown of the self-allotted figures, as contained in the document, as follows: Atakumosa East (10,000); Atakumosa West (10,000), Ayedaade (15,000), Ayedire (10,000), Boluwaduro (5,000); Boripe (10,000); Ede North (10,130); Ede South (10,000); Egbedore (10,000); Ejigbo (15,000); Ife Central (35,000); Ifedayo (7,000); Ife East (33,018); Ifelodun (15,000) and Ife North (20,000). Others listed in the rigging document are: Ife South (20,000); Ila (10,000); Ilesa East (10,000); Ilesa West (10,340); Irepodun (10,007); Irewole (20,105); Isokan (10,000); Iwo (15,000); Obokun (10,203); Odo-Otin (10,107); Ola-Oluwa (5,070); Olorunda (15,000); Oriade (10,000); Orolu (7,936 and Osogbo (28,000). The party said the elaborate and audacious plan is to be carried out in connivance with key INEC officials from the National headquarters, and those deployed from other states, with the staunch backing of all security agencies deployed for the election, with particularly-mobilised personnel, former militants and masked thugs impersonating security officials under a combined team code named ‘Election Task Force’, directly under the instructions of Mr. Musiliu Obanikoro (Minister of State for Defence) and Jelili Adesiyan (Minister of Police Affairs), Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode and Mr. Chris Uba. It said the mandate of the task force includes the intimidation, harassment, and arrest of APC party chieftains, agents and sympathizers who are uncompromising or refuse their offer of filthy lucre. APC said the second document, a part of which was written in longhand, contained even more damning evidence that the PDP has decided to employ rigging, thuggery and other acts of violence to ‘win’ Osun at all costs on Saturday. This word " I MISS YOU TOO " have come to be heard as a very popular word, more popular than some well used slogan like " Jeez" ,"how far"" etc. But the popularity of this 11 letters word have given me a source of concern and poses a question while trying to examine what people really mean when they say the word"I MISS YOU TOO" is it usually a expression from someone who needs the company of his/her friend/wife/loved one, etc( as its meant to be) or a POPULAR/READILY response to the word "I MISS YOU" as commonly seen today. This is not limited to friends even among our family members, when ever they express how much they are missing us, one will readily hear " I miss you too" like a programmed response awaiting to be prompted. The truth is that we should learn to use the right words at the right time to the right person. say " I miss you" when you truly do, same goes to I love you too, they are words of affection and should only come when they are truly felt inside. With this, one can avoid passing fake impression to the person to whom these words are meant for. |

Photo below shows a Church with a mosque upstairs( Coexistence of faith ) [ In Yogunoluk village of Samandag, Hatay, a mosque of tile roof was built upon the remains of a historical church from Roman Empire. ]-The church that remained from the time of Roman Empire was restored for use in 1896 after the settlement of the Armenian. It was not used any more after 1939 when they left the region and it was transformed into a mosque in 1940 by the Muslim settlers. The village Principal Mehmet Karaca said that they covered its roof with tiles without spoiling the original shape and that the mosque was restored in 1961 with concrete. Karaca said that the pillars, the baptism tub, the confession cabin, priest chair and the lodge were strong and that it could be used by the Armenian too if restored.( Source: DIHA )In Hatay and its environs today one can find Alevits, Arab Christians (both Orthodox and Catholic), Armenians, Jews, Afghans, Turcoman, and of course Turks. One of the biggest villages of the seven original Armenian strongholds, Yogunoluk, which was densely populated by Armenians in the 1920s, is today a Turcoman village. Fulya Dogruel, who wrote a book about Hatay, says that after 1915, “in order to balance the ethnic composition, Turcoman people were settled in the area." Many of us hate when people smoke. Some people are even allergic to smoke and experience many problems when they are near to smokers. But our problems are solved now as a new device is introduced in the market. The Electronic cigaretteshave evolved many lives. They completely resemble real cigarettes. It is the latest product in the market. Its incredible quality is that it does not contain tobacco at all. It can be used very easily by everyone. It contains one nicotine cartridge which is filled with liquid nicotine. There is a small atomizer (powered by a battery) present in the cigarette which will vaporize tiny amounts of the liquid nicotine when a person inhales. When the person inhales nicotine vapor it gives nicotine hit to the user in seconds rather than a lot of time with patches or gums. To make even the best e-cigarettelook real a tiny LED light is fixed at the cigarette’s tip which switches on when the user is inhaling. This differs from a conventional cigarette. A real cigarette contains tobacco which is made up of more than 7,000 chemicals and at least 250 of these chemicals are extremely harmful. These are substances which nobody will desire to take in but smokers take these every day. If you switch to electronic cigarettes you will feel its advantages instantaneously. In a real cigarette you inhale smoke but in this you inhale nicotine vapor mist which looks like smoke. These cigarettes can be used anywhere. You can use this in public place, in your house and even in front of your child. It causes no harm to the people around you. Before passive smoking was an issue but now this issue may get resolved because of electronic cigarettes as seen in many reviews. There are multiple reasons for you to choose electronic cigarettes. Firstly it is very cheap in cost. An electronic cigarette lasts for a longer period of time than a pack of real cigarettes. This saves your money and you are buying something useful with low cost. Secondly the electronic cigarettes do not stain your teeth as the real cigarettes do as talked about in the e-cigarette reviewtalked about earlier. The tobacco in real cigarette stains the teeth and makes them grubby. Thirdly there aren’t any age restrictions. People of any age can use these cigarettes and experience its good effects. Another good thing about this cigarette is the kit it comes with. When you purchase an electronic cigarette you can buy its complete kit. The kit has important materials for you to get started with electronic cigarettes. It consists of an electronic cigarette, some rechargeable batteries, a charger and a refillable cartridge. Once you are finished with the cartridge, you can easily get a new one at a cigarette store. Thus, you will not find any difficulties searching for a replacement or a refill for the cartridge because you have the option to purchase it from an online store or from a cigarette kiosk in the neighborhood. Electronic cigarettes were invented by a Chinese chemist in 2003. Then in 2007 electronic cigarettes were introduced to UK shops. Since then the sales of these electronic cigarettes have reached its peak. The UK is one of the fast-growing markets for the device. Many studies have shown that these electronic cigarettes are less harmful and cause less damage to health than the real cigarettes. It is expected that in future 5 million deaths will be saved if all smokers in Britain switch to e-cigarettes in people who live there today Though it is found that people agree electronic cigarettes are much better than the real cigarettes. The Department of Health has currently advised nothing regarding the use of electronic cigarettes. However they are very lightly administered. This means they can be sold easily to the children. On the other hand as electronic cigarettes become widely popular, they are increasingly used to smoke in pubs and club even when it is banned to smoke there. Electronic cigarettes are the best thing to save a person’s life and they may soon replace real cigarettes in clubs. So yeah, this is all about electronic cigarettes. They have proved to be a pretty good invention and have replaced the conventional cigarettes quite effectively for some people. Source: http://www. |
phatjoe50: Ehhhh!!! When you see a sick person stay away na, but no that you can't get it from an infected healthy person. Thanks Boss |
I recently moved into new apartment. And unfortunately I have a married couple as my next door neighbor, this man a lecturer with a federal university in the south east of Nigeria and has a master degree while pursuing his PHD in another federal University in the south south of Nigeria , the wife, also a non teaching staff with the same school, but each time they have little disagreement you will hear the woman in a loud voice calling the man " A graduate Illiterate" plz I ask what does she mean by that? |
phatjoe50: Ignorance is a sin, brothers you can't get Ebola from a healthy person (during the incubation period).my dear this is dependent on the type of contactooooo , no go there, if one have first contact withan infected person he/she is sure to get infected between even very sick person does go to church too and do participate in this ritual of exchange of peace, u can never tell only being proactive boss |
Its a known fact that in our churches during the either church service or Mass celebration by the Catholics, there is usually a section reserved for exchanging of greetings mostly through handshake and hug, popularly referred to as " offer of peace " as used by the catholics, now I ask, given the recent outbreak of the deadly Ebola Virus and its easy spread especially through contact( I.e Handshakes ) is it still safe to continue this practice in our churches? If yes what are they measures to put in place in order to protect members? If no, how can it be replaced or what other alternatives exist? Our church should be a place for protection not Destruction of members, A stitch in time they saves nine. |

Nigeria’s civil aviation authority (NCAA) said on Thursday it had started temperature screening passengers arriving from places at risk from Ebola and had suspended pan-African airline, Asky, for bringing the first case to Lagos. Ebola has been blamed for 729 deaths in Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Nigeria, according to the World Health Organization. One died in Lagos, a crowded city of 21 million people with some of Africa’s worst sanitation and health care. “Screening and monitoring is being done at all major international airports. It entails checking passengers’ temperatures with a hand-held machine,” NCAA spokesman, Sam Adurogboye, said, adding this meant for any journey that passed through Liberia, Guinea or Sierra Leone. A compulsory blood test would follow if the passenger’s temperature gave cause for concern, he said. International airlines association IATA said the WHO was not recommending any travel restrictions or border closures due to the outbreak, and says there would be a low risk to other passengers if an Ebola patient flew. Patrick Sawyer, a consultant for Liberia’s Finance Ministry in his 40s, collapsed on arrival at Lagos airport on July 20 on an Asky flight. He was put in isolation at the First Consultants Hospital in Obalende, one of the most crowded parts of the city, but died early on July 25. “We have suspended Asky until they are able to show us what measures they have put in place for passengers to ensure they do not bring Ebola,” Adurogboye said. He said the largest Airline Arik Air was being told to maintain its self-imposed suspension of all flights to Liberia and Sierra Leone for the time being. Authorities were monitoring 59 people who were in contact with Sawyer, including airport contacts, and are seeking to make contact with all passengers that were on his flight. The latest outbreak of the hemorrhagic fever began in the forests of remote eastern Guinea in February. It starts with headaches and fever, and final stage symptoms include external and internal bleeding, vomiting and diarrhea. Sierra Leone declared a state of emergency and called in troops to quarantine epicenters of Ebola on Thursday. Source: http://sunnewsonline.com/new/?p=74774 |
Jellyjust: Even though I don't like ogbeni's leadership style and policies but I don't see Omisore winning(not prophesying oooo) . With the look of things, he doesn't enjoy much popularity, I think choosing him was the biggest mistake PDP has made recently, cause a popular candidate would have flushed ogbeni out because Osun people are not happy with his administration's policies like delayed workers salaries, school merger, use of hijab, use of charms, unified school uniform, indebtedness of the state , the Orunmila status etc. But still the prefer him to Omisore accused of the murder of Bola Ige. Time will tell shaAbout the killing of Bola Ige, only the Judiciary can prove that and as long as Nigerian still exist as an entity and the constitution still reigning supreme, he remains innocent untill proven guilty just like Fayose of Ekiti |
Nasarawa House of Assembly members, on Wednesday, directed the state Chief Judge, Justice Suleiman Dikko, to disband the seven-man probe panel he inaugurated last Friday to investigate alleged misconduct of Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura. The membership composition, according to the lawmakers, contravened Section 188 (1) of the 1999 Constitution. The assembly members disclosed that two card-carrying members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had been uncovered among the probe panel members. Another four had earlier been alleged to be of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The resolution was passed by the lawmakers at its plenary, which held at the legislative chambers of Karu Local Government, Karu, Nasarawa State. The lawmakers invoked the rule of the assembly to conduct legislative businesses anywhere in the state, following alleged assassination attempts on the Clerk of the Assembly and another member. At the plenary, the Committee on Public Complaints told the assembly that it received petitions from different stakeholders that certain members of the probe panel are card-carrying members of political parties, in contravention of the 1999 Constitution. The committee disclosed that its investigation showed that the allegations were true with the registration numbers of two panel members, as bonafide members of the PDP, obtained and displayed to the whole Assembly. In its formal report to the House, the committee presented PDP membership register showing Galadima Keffi, Alhaji Abdul Usman and former Secretary to State Government and Ciroma of Keane, Mohammed Sabo Keane as active PDP chieftains. Another member of the panel x-rayed by the assembly committee was Reverend Joel Galadima, with payment voucher in his favour as a member of the state Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board who was appointed by the governor, obtained and tendered to the whole Assembly. A resolution was subsequently passed, directing the CJ to disband the panel and put a new one in place. Meanwhile, a new dimension has come into the impeachment process, with payment vouchers flying around, suggesting that about N100 million has been released to the Chief Judge between last Friday when the probe panel was inaugurated and yesterday. No official reason had been given for the alleged release of said sum in tranches. A legislative source hinted that a probe would be launched into what the money was meant for since judiciary was on strike. The source said the alleged sum could only be for the panel, Source: http://www.tribune.com.ng/news/top-stories/item/12151-nasarawa-lawmakers-direct-cj-to-sack-probe-panel-controversy-trails-n100m-sitting-fund

Parents of public secondary school students in Osun State, yesterday gave the government a five-day ultimatum to return boarding facilities to the schools where the facilities existed before the introduction of new education system by the present administration in the state. The parents under the aegis of the Parents Teachers Association, PTA, threatened mass protest should the state government fail to return the boarding system before the end of the ultimatum. Chairman of PTA in the state, Dr Ademola Ekundayo, who received protesting parents in his office in Osogbo, appealed for calm, saying their request would be channeled to the appropriate quarter. The state government had in its Schools Reclassification Programme closed all the boarding facilities in public secondary schools in the state. The parents however appeared uncomfortable with the new education system and called for a reversal of the system, urging the state government to return boarding system to public secondary schools in the state. Meanwhile, the state government yesterday said the actual debt profile of the Governor Rauf Aregbesola-led administration wasN38 billion. The opposition parties’ candidates, particularly the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Iyiola Omisore and Social Democratic Party, SDP, Elder Segun Akinwusi, the immediate past Head of Service in the state put the state debt at betweenN300bn and N400bn. Commissioner for Finance, Budget Development and Economic Planning, Wale Bolorunduro, said the figure represented the loans and bonds taken by the government and the money owed contractors handling various ongoing projects in the state, adding that the situation was not gloomy as the state was ranked among the five least indebted states in the country based on the record of the Debt Management Office (DMO), Abuja. Source: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/08/aregbesola-gets-5-day-ultimatum-over-boarding-schools/ Meanwhile the Osun State political landscape was yesterday rocked with opinion polls projecting the two major candidates, Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the APC and Senator Iyiola Omisore of the PDP leading in two different opinion polls. While the survey handled by MRS one of the nation’s leading polling agencies put Aregbesola in clear lead among likely voters, the one projecting Omisore was purportedly conducted by the United States Agency for International Development, USAID. Aregbesola’s supporters were quick to pounce on the information to rubbish the poll pprojecting Omisore which was being circulated on social media as a fabrication as they claimed that the USAID, a development agency, is not known to be into poll research. “I worked for the US government for more than ten years and I can clearly tell you that what is being circulated on social media is hogwash,” one Aregbesola canvasser said yesterday. In the poll released by TNS-MRS, a member of the Gallup International, the APC and its candidate were projected to be leading by as much as 73% in terms of voters support. “The APC continues to dominate the political landscape in Osun State judging by its performance on all key indicators evaluated: it scored highest and also increased in rating on first mention, sympathy, and voting intention,” the research firm said in its final report on the poll conducted between June and the third week of July. Omisore was accredited with 19% of the votes according to the polling report made available to the press yesterday. According to the study, the incumbent governor, Rauf Aregbesola, is the candidate of choice by Osun voters with a 73% lead over other candidates. This is a clear indication that the choice of Osun voters in the next governorship race is Governor Rauf Aregebsola. Meanwhile, Senator Iyiola Omisore of the PDP comes a far distant second, polling 19% representing a 2% decline from the earlier survey. “The incumbent (Governor Rauf Aregbesola) remains (the) main voting choice. Voting choice for Senator Omisore declined by 2% and seem not to pose a threat to the incumbent’s chances of re-election as he remains firmly ahead of the race,” TSN-RMS said in its report. oldenglish: hahahahaha busted. That's why it's not good to lie. Igbokwesampson please freedom of association exist in Nigeria, nobody will kill you if you are a member of APC so don't deny and accept in one sentence.. Funny, usually I don't like engaging a nairalander with words of argument but for clearity sake, @ question he accused the APC and I Of weeping possibly because of PDP's anticipated victory in Osun come August 9 and in my response I made it clear to him that though am not a member of APC, but comments he was making references to was only made to remind our leaders their supposed priority and possibly make them to retrace their steps from their diffraction point That all. As for membership of APC or PDP, simple Nairaland/Google search will do us all good. Do have a wonderful day. |
EmeeNaka: Everyday,APC cowards will be weeping. Why have you not made a decision to join the army and fight BH. Started with Gen.Buhari, today all APC members will not stop weeping.. Well dear brother, I don't know what you understood by weeping, APC which am neither a member nor a sympathizer weren't weeping, we were only trying to show where our leaders priority should be and where it is currently. Its all obvious even the NOI owned poll who is one of them clearly proved that. |
