The purpose of the state of Emergency was fighting the Bokoharam insurgency.....The governors were not sponsoring the insurgnecy hence no need to remove them.

In Plateau and Ekiti Obasanjo removed the governors as he identified them as crisis actors.

When a state of emergency is declared by the president....the president is given powers beyond what the constitution allows......If Nigeria is to go to war tomorrow the President may declare a state of emergency and cancel all elections in the country allowing the president to stay in power until the end of the war even it takes 10 years to come to peace...

So in other words state of emergency means suspension of the constitution and switch to emergency rule...in Rivers state the constitution of Nigeria is no longer applicable for the next 6 months but emergency rule as dictated by the president......THe president has identified Governor Fubara and the Rivers State house of assembly as the crisis actors and and has suspended them for the next 6 months

The crisis actors were suspended by the President. That includes Governor Fubara and all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Wike is not part of the government of Rivers State.....He has influence on 27 members of the House. However he does not and cannot control them.

Those 27 members have their own soul and can make decisions for themselves. Yesterday they seem to be influenced by Wike in 6 months time they may be influenced by someone else.


The members have lost more than Fubara. They have not been paid for months and now they have no power

He is the president and he has done what he thinks is best for the safety of Rivers citizens...if you become president you may decide not to listen to your security chiefs and hope that the crisis will go away.

Foundational Nupe does not know the meaning of state of emergency....it is the suspension of the constitution.....the president can act as he deems fit for the safety and security of his citizens....including suspending the crisis actors....Governor Fubara and the State House of Assembly.

In Ukraine, Zelensky is almost one year past his constitutional rule...he declared a state of emergency in Ukraine and he alone now makes the rule as he sees fit for his country including suspension of elections.

1. Without SoE Fubara will be impeached and that will lead to open warfare in Rivers State. His impeachment will likely not happen and he should complete his first term.

2. The main losers are the Rivers State house of assembly that have not been paid for months and would now not be able to seat. They still have their defection case going to the Supreme court where they may actually loose.

3. For now Wike is not loosing or winning.....he has lost his power through the house of assembly. Tinubu suspended the house of assembly to tame Wike.

4. Fubara must settle this politically. Use the next 6 months to settle this out of court

True...but how do you explain borrowing money to subsidise standard of living...to the point where China stopped borrowing us...they even seized a presidential jet cos we could not meet up with our interest payment...if any company runs like Nigeria was going it will declare bankruptcy .....the current pain will be nothing compared to what that would bring.

It depends on how you measure it.

For some Nigerians anyone who gives them a bag of rice at Christmas and a ram at Eid is a good leader....hence why most politicians do targeted charity to be in the good books of those Nigerians

Some measure performance by how much food they have in their belly.....if they become hungry the leader is bad

Some measure performance based on their own expectation...not necessarily what the leader promised in their manifesto...the messiah complex politicians appeal to them...only to be disappointed when reality hits

In Buhari's time Nigerians were better off or so it seems but that is because Buhari was borrowing money from anyone who is willing to offer it. Nigeria was practically eating its future.....China had to stop borrowing us as it was becoming clear that we would not be able to pay back at the rate we were going...naira was artificially inflated the FG was supporting the exchange rate at over $2 billion per month, fuel subsidy was taking another chunk of money that we did not have.....when Buhari saw that it was unsustainable he presented the 2023 budget where fuel subsidy was meant to end in June 2023.

Tinubu came in and embarked on economic reform from day one...announcing that the fuel subsidy is gone and will not come back in form of budget padding...naira was floated to show its true value....Nigeria started saving money by cutting waste...Dangote refinery brings competition to NNPC PLC. Remember Goodluck Jonathan approved 5 private refineries as president none of which was built because of NNPC monopoly...that story may change with Dangote refinery coming online...NNPC has no choice than to refurbish its own refineries that has been dead for decades....

Having said this the benefits of Tinubu's reforms are yet to be fully realised...infact the pain of the reforms is all but clear to see....in the long run the benefits will come but at the moment it is painful...

Labour unions that should advocate for salaries to match the pains seem to be nothing but politicians....this reform isn't well communicated and salaries and wages are lagging behind...

So it depends on how you see it
