Suspected Fulani herdsmen on Thursday invaded farmlands at Ikot Obio Nso community in Mkpat Enin Local
Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, killing one Friday Etor and injuring another, Nsikak Udoh.

We gathered that the deceased died on the spot from gun shots on his neck while Udoh was shot in the leg during the attack on their farmlands.

It was further gathered that the herdsmen arrived the community a week ago with large herds of cattle, causing destruction to farm crops in the area.

According to a source, who pleaded anonymity, “The Fulani herdsmen this morning killed one and injured another of
our brother right inside their farmlands.

“The herdsmen together with their cattle have been camping in Ndon Eyen for some weeks now, in a
piece of land that our people are currently harvesting cassava.




“When the news of their activities in the farm got to the villagers, some of us rushed to our farm lands to inquire what was going on, the two victims got to the scene before we arrived and we saw one dead and another seriously injured, and struggling with gunshots.”

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Odiko Macdon, who confirmed the incident, said the Commissioner of Police, Zaki Ahmed, has dispatched a team of police officers to investigate the incident.

Nigeria’s ruling party, APC, has accused an activist, Omoyele Sowore, of treason and plotting to destabilise the country.

Mr Sowore was arrested on Saturday for calling for a revolution against bad governance.

He had planned a series of protests across Nigeria to start from last Monday.

Despite Mr Sowore’s arrest, many Nigerians still came out for the protest. However, dozens of the protesters were arrested across the country with some charged to court.

On Thursday, the Nigerian government secured a court order to detain Mr Sowore for 45 days based on Nigeria’s controversial terrorism law.

An Abuja Federal High Court on Friday ordered the All Progressives Congress, APC, to halt activities over the adoption of indirect primaries to elect its candidate for the November governorship election in Kogi State.

Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been attacked by the Director-General of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Salihu Lukman.

Nigerian rapper, Falz has called for the release of the AAC presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore who was arrested by the Department of State services, DSS, over the Revolution Now protest.

A Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Mahmoud Gumi, has said that the current security situation was capable of deviding the country.

The EFCC on Wednesday said its Enugu Zonal Office has marked some properties traced to the former Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, and some of his family members.

The EFCC noted that Mr Okorocha’s properties were marked not sealed.

However, the ex-governor’s spokesperson, Sam Onwuemodo, in a telephone interview, said that the EFCC sealed some properties belonging to his boss in Owerri, the Imo capital.

Mr Okorocha governed Imo between 2011 and 2019 and is currently representing Imo West Senatorial District in the Senate.

A former commissioner in Rivers State, Austin Tam-George, has lashed out at the administration of Governor Nyesom Wike in the state.

Mr Tam-George, who served briefly as commissioner for information before he resigned his appointment in Mr Wike’s first tenure, posted on Facebook, July 14, an imaginary conversation between the governor and Jesus Christ.

The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal for Yobe State sitting in Abuja, has upheld the election of Ibrahim-Umar Potiskum, as the member representing Potiskum/Nangere federal constituency.
