The Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has vowed to resist any attempt to stop his inauguration for second term in office.

In a statement yesterday by his Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, Alhaji Yusuf Dingyadi, the governor alleged of plots to cause political chaos in the state.

He said that certain individuals were spreading lies and creating confusion that the court was going to remove him from office and give power to the APC.

Tambuwal added that his posters along Birnin Kebbi Road, Maiduguri Road, Airport Road and some other areas within the metropolis had been removed and replaced with those of the APC governorship candidate.

Tambuwal stressed that only legal means could stop his government.

The apex Igbo socio-political organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has reacted to reports claiming that National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu will run for the office of the president in 2023.

A final year student of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Chukwuemeka Akachi, has committed suicide after stating the reason for his action on Facebook.

Dr. Aluye Briggs, a Medical Director in charge of Health Centre in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, has narrated what he suffered in the hands of Nigerian Army during the February 23 and March 9, 2019 general elections.

The Osun governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senator Ademola Adeleke, Tuesday denied the allegation of certificate forgery preferred against him before the Appeal Court, sitting in Abuja.


Adeleke said he never forged the West African Examination Council (WAEC) Certificate he presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to secure clearance for the gubernatorial election.

The lawmaker also insisted that the certificate he attached to his nomination form, CF 001 was lawfully issued to him and confirmed by WAEC in its affidavit evidence submitted to the Federal Capital (Territory FCT) High Court.

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general elections, Isah Ashiru, on Tuesday, filed an application seeking for a recount of the votes cast during the March 9 governorship polls.


Ashiru’s counsel, Elisha Kurah (SAN), submitted the application to the Justice I. M Bako-led tribunal that commenced pre-hearing session in Kaduna.

Justice Bako, however, adjourned the session to May 25 to allow the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the two other respondents in the petition time to respond to the PDP’s application on votes recount.


Kurah who spoke to journalists shortly after the adjournment of the session urged the tribunal to order INEC for the recount of the votes cast.

He explained, “We filed an application requesting to recount the votes cast during the election.

“It is very crucial as we are alleging which is supported by the evidence we have that most of the results declared were phantom votes.


“They were back up by votes in the ballot boxes. So we want a complete recount of the votes cast in the governorship election.

“We are expecting that the results would show that the PDP actually won the election.

A 26-year-old man, Ighale Tochukwu, who was arraigned before a magistrate court in Isolo for stealing church musical instruments worth N390,000, has told the court that a friend introduced him to the social-vice in order to earn a living.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Saturday announced the release of 1,792,719 results of candidates who sat for the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Registrar of the examination body Professor, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, announced the release of the results on Saturday morning in Abuja.

The JAMB boss said that due to various infractions the board withheld the results of 34,120 for various infractions.

The registrar also said that 15,145 results were withheld for further clarification.

This news medium had reported on Friday that the registrar said JAMB would release the results on Saturday.

Dr. Felix Nte, a collation officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has narrated to the commission of inquiry in Rivers State, how he ate INEC papers out of fear.

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has reiterated that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has no powers to investigate financial transactions of his government.

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, Wednesday commenced hearing in the petitions filed by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, his party and three other political parties challenging the declaration of President Muhammadu Buhari as winner of the 2019 presidential poll.

It also urged parties to shun actions that may put the panel in a negative light.

Chairman of the five-member panel, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, who made the appeal, at the special sitting of the panel, specifically warned counsel and parties in the various petitions to avoid discussing daily proceedings of the tribunal in the media and other public space.
