Michael Shannon, Benicio Del Toro and James Franco will be starring in The Iceman, it was announced today in a joint statement made by Millennium Films and Bleiberg Entertainment.

The Iceman is the electrifying true story of Richard Kuklinski (Shannon), a notorious mob contract killer and loving family man. He earned his nickname by freezing the bodies of his victims, disguising the time of death, and throwing police off-track. He was a man who used his tendencies toward violence and detachment from consequence to create an idyllic family life. His family and neighbors believed he was an average businessman, having no idea about his deadly alternate life. Kuklinski killed over one hundred people during his life. He never felt remorse for anything he had done, except hurting his family. Del Toro co-stars as Kuklinski’s employer, the notorious mobster Roy Demeo, and Franco plays his mentor assassin known as Mr. Softee.

Marvel Studios has hired Mark Bailey to write the script for The Black Panther, reports Heat Vision.

Bailey hails from the documentary film world and his credits include HBO documentaries such as "Pandemic: Facing AIDS" and "Ghost of Abu Ghraib." The trade says his latest project is a feature adaptation of the non-fiction book "The Last of the Tribe: The Epic Quest to Save a Lone Man in the Amazon," to which Doug Liman is attached to direct.

The Black Panther first appeared in the pages of the "Fantastic Four" comic in 1966. The character is the king of a resource-rich fictional African country who becomes a superhero.

Relativity Media announced today that it has acquired U.S. rights to market and distribute Intrepid Pictures' The Raven, directed by James McTeigue (V For Vendetta) and starring John Cusack (2012, 1408).

The film also stars Luke Evans (Immortals, Clash of the Titans), Alice Eve (Sex and the City 2), Brendan Gleeson ("Harry Potter" Series) and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Faster). The script was written by Ben Livingston (Bruce Almighty) and Hannah Shakespeare (Loverboy).

The Raven is a fictionalized account of the final days of gothic writer Edgar Allan Poe as he tracks a serial killer whose crimes mirror works by the famous author.

Paramount Pictures announced today that Sacha Baron Cohen's new comedy The Dictator will be released worldwide on May 11, 2012. The studio also announced that Larry Charles (Borat, Bruno) has come aboard to direct.

The film tells the heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed. It is inspired by the best selling novel "Zabibah and The King" by Saddam Hussein.
