I agree completely. Why let someone's emotions ruin yours? I am not saying you won't care, but if someone decides to be in a certain mood (in the end a person's emotional state is a decision) you can decide not to imbibe it. There's nothing worse than transferring emotions, especially negative ones. This is why I will never subscribe to seeking someone to 'make me' happy.

Emotions used to influence me, but I learned a while back - you need to be emotionally separate from your partner. You can sympathise or empathise, but never get angry because someone else is angry, or sad because someone else is sad. Anyone who expects you to respond in that manner is being manipulative.
