Five states lead in the production of cannabis in Nigeria. They are Ekiti, Osun Ondo, Edo and Delta, states. It is claimed the cannabis produced in Edo and Ondo is among the best in the world, making it more expensive than others and providing a ready world-wide market for it, according to a source.

VICTOR OGUNJE, ADO EKITI

EKITI State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has rated the state as a leading producer of Marijuana a.k.a. Indian hemp on the African continent.

The Agency also threatened to prosecute any landlord who fails to monitor his tenants’ means of livelihood.

NDLEA also revealed that a landlord was now helping it to trace the whereabouts of his tenant who allegedly stocked 34kg of Indian hemp at the popular Fayose market, located at the Ajilosun area of Ado Ekiti.

The Command had also launched a manhunt for one Bunmi Adeleye, who was said to have fled after being caught with 2.2kg of substance suspected to be a dangerous weed

Making the disclosures yesterday in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, the state Commander of the anti-drug body, Mr Ben Ikani had declared that the largest seizure which was discovered in the state last April had made the state to be recognized by the United Nations Anti- drug department as one of the areas vulnerable to drug abuse

Operatives of the NDLEA had made a landmark record, through the seizure and destruction of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, worth N84million by conservative estimation of the Agency.

Ikane disclosed the Agency would be collaborating with the state government on the need to sensitize the public to reduce the scourge of drug abuse in the state, even as he solicited for useful information that would enable the Agency to be more efficient in its duties

According to him "We are in dire need of information because we need it to perform. We are not magicians, so we can only nab the perpetrators of this dastardly act if we have useful information from people.

"Though, a lot of programmes are on Radio and Television to get the people acquainted with the evils behind drug abuse and bad name attached to it. So, I assure, no efforts would be spared to make the state Drug free", he said

On the warning to the landlords to be wary of the activities of their tenants, Ikani disclosed that the law establishing the Agency empowered it to prosecute a landlord as an accomplice if he fails to promptly report the activities of his tenant.

Ikani said those now at large could not be declared wanted at present, clarifying that such order must come from the Headquarters of the Agency in Abuja.

He said, the culprit, Adeleye, who had escaped had not been arrested when he had fled, saying he managed to escape when his men had laid an ambush for him during a night operation

On the success recorded by the Agency in its efforts to rehabilitate some victims of drug abuse, the Commandant revealed that no fewer that four persons had been rehabilitated and some were still receiving treatment to bring them to normal life.

Yes it should, based on the true state of things now. Ekiti has the highest hectare of farmland devoted to the cultivation of marijuana as shown by the NDLEA. They claim they have ''professors'' (note this is in quote) but there is nothing to show for it. I do not remember any single industry in Ekiti state, except of course the marijuana-growing industry. The name is a case of a lizard who fell of the tree and nodded his head, saying that if nobody acknowledges him, he will praise himself. Outdated punks

I beg my Yoruba brothers. Is Lagos the only Yoruba state? How come Lagos, where many non-Yorubas reside and pay huge taxes, is the only Yoruba state they are proud of? The easterners are proud of all their states. Go to Calabar, Enugu, Rivers, etc, the govs are performing, despite the evil machinations of the Yoruba and their hausa-Fulani cousins.

About seven people were reportedly kidnapped in the last four days in various parts of Ekiti State.
The kidnappers equally demanded N50 million ransom from the victims’ families and relations before they could be released.
Those kidnapped include the Chairman of the state Internal Revenue Board, Mr. Femi Ajepe, and his wife; the wife of the paramount ruler of Ilawe Ekiti, Oba Adeyemi Ademileka and her daughter, Adedoyin.
Others are an Ado-Ekiti-based lawyer, Mr. R.K. Olaiya, who was kidnapped along with his wife and a client in Ikole Ekiti yesterday.
Ajepe was said to have been abducted with his wife in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, last Saturday by the kidnappers, who trailed him from Akure, the Ondo State capital, to Ado-Ekiti.
While Ajepe was said to have been released by the kidnappers, his wife was yet to regain her freedom as their captors were said to be demanding N30 million before she could be released.
THISDAY learnt that the wife of the traditional ruler of Ilawe Ekiti was also said to have been released but her daughter, Adedoyin, is still being held at an undisclosed location by the abductors, who were demanding a N10 million ransom.
As at press time yesterday evening, Olaiya, who was said to have been kidnapped along with his wife and client were still being held just as there was no clue about the ransom being demanded by the abductors.
Reacting to the incidents, Chairman of Ado-Ekiti Branch of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Dele Omotoso, who confirmed the abduction of one of his members to newsmen, said the lawyer was in Ikole Ekiti to meet one of his clients, only to be abducted by the kidnappers, who had already laid siege for him.
According to him, he (Olaiya) was to handle a case for this client in Ado-Ekiti High Court yesterday before the unidentified men descended on him.
On the ransom demanded by the kidnappers, Omotoso said he had not been able to establish any point of contact with the abductees for him to be able to know the ransom the abductors were demanding.
Also commenting on the incidents, the state Acting Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fabian Ojiri, said his command was aware of the incidents, except that of Ajepe, which, he said, had not been reported to him.
He, however, added that most of the recent abduction cases were as a result of mere communal crises.
According to Ojiri, “I can say that most of these abductions were as a result of internal crises in all these communities. Take for instance, immediately the Olori of Alawe and her daughter were abducted, the kidnappers called the DPO in Ekiti South West Local Government Area to come to Ikere to pick her car.
“So, the question now is this, how did they know his number, if not for the fact that it was perpetrated by those in that community?” he asked.
Ojiri referred to the abduction of the lawyer as an arrangee one, saying “How come he was abducted the very day he was to handle a very sensitive case in Ado-Ekiti? So, these are part of the things that we have to put into consideration,” he said.
The Police Commissioner, however, said he had ordered a thorough investigation into the incidents, so that the perpetrators could be brought to book in no distant time.
His words, “I have put my men on alert and by the grace of God, these evil doers will soon be unravelled and make to face the full weight of law, because the security of lives and property of the people have to be paramount and be protected by police with utmost zeal.”

Those Yoruba that attend Ago Iwoye and other fake Yoruba unis are martians? The reason you do not see them outside is because they cannot survive without forgery, which will be detected easily outside. Easterners are travellers and they study wherever they live. You can see that in the number of easterners in US schools, especially Igbos.

It has 4 Yoruba states, 3 Igbo states, 5 south south states (in addition to several non-mallam middle belt states? So only a gbegiri-eating idiot will call such a party a mallam's party. okokomeji:

@Sunny_bobo or Saboteur _baboon or Silly-Buffon
Haba! Awo gave these un-appreciative people (Igbos) 120 pounds each, that's like 480,000 naira by today's currency conversion. I wish I had that fool!
When bad decisions favor you, many of you will keep quiet, but when it back rolls, you will open your damn mouth to play a race card.
Remember, Awolowo won the general election, but they claimed it was insufficient counts, because of two-third policy. Then, a lot of Yorubas paid their allegiance to Awo by boycotting the then government. Biaf-rats, just jumped to government under Hausas' influence (they didn't complain about that one ooo). The ironic part of it (most of these government functions, they wanted to dominate were built by Western Region self-government, which were later converted to Federal Government properties in the name of nationalization.
“Just to demonstrate Igbo people precocious altitudes and self-centered mentality. The then government wants Quota system and Federal character just to help (East that just got out of war and North that is educationally less-privileged against the Educational developed West.
The two only federal institutions then in the whole Nigeria, are UI (University of Ibadan) and UL (University of Lagos) built by western region governments but later converted to federal universities.”
1)   In 1960s there were several Yoruba professor already, but just in the name of Federal Character as it’s been stipulated in our constitution. Igbo professor (Kenneth Dike) was opportune to be the Vice Chancellor at Ibadan, he had finished his tenure and would be replaced by Professor. Then, he played a race card by calling tribalism; maybe he wanted to turn the post to his birthright?
2)   Eni Njoku held a court and later became Unilag Vice chancellor, he was due to be replaced when he pulled a race card and raised a deafening yell of tribalism and financed students to raise hell and mayhem in the course of which Professor
Biobaku was stabbed in an assassination attempt.
3)   The same trait was found in Charles Soludo, after five years that even led to capsize of stock rate; he was about to be replaced when he cried of tribalism. Then, not even up to three days after he retired, he said he wants to run for gubernatorial election.
4)   Dr Nnamdi Azikwue, an elderly statesman openly supported Biafran militants and went on a sojourn leave abroad by feigning sickness.
5)   Chukwumerije Ojukwu did the same thing.

Muritala's overthrown government favored Igbo people so much (when he sacked 10,000 workers in just one day)-- that's why you got to love Hausa people and put your hatred away. How is God on your side when you don't have nothing to show for it?
The 2008 states' statistics for internal revenues (out of 13 states that generated more than 10 billion nairas, Yoruba states made it all, except Ekiti state-- I am talking about Lagos, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Ondo, Kwara and Kogi). That tells you, you should never underestimate the innovative power of Yoruba people.

What a load of lies. UI was just a college of the university of London when UNN became the first full fledged uni in Nigeria in October 1960. That is why it is called University of Nigeria. UI became autonomous two years later and unilag came one or two years later. Yorubas did not have qualified people to man UI and Unilag when Oyibos left. So Igbo people took over. Unilag was not build by western Nigeria. It wa built by the FGN. The same trait was found also in OBJ who refused to quit after 8 years and was looking for third term as if Nigeria belongs to the Yoruba alone. The same trait is now found in the current president of the stock exchange who refused to quit and hand over to Dangote, as his tenure ends.

36 Boko Haram sect arrested on theirway to Southern Nigeria
From LAMBERTTYEM, Abuja

Saturday, August 1, 2009

No fewerthan 36 sus- pected members of the Islamic funda- mentalist group called ‘Boko Haram’which had unleashed terror in some parts of northern Nigeria have been arrested in the early hours of Friday by the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Abuja.

The Federal Capital Territory Police Commissioner, John Haruna, who paraded the suspected militants, disclosed that they were arrested in Abuja at a motor park at about 1.00 am while on their way to the Southern parts of the country to launch attack, just the way their members did in Borno, Bauchi, Yobe, Kano states, among others recently.

CP Haruna said further that the Command has also uncovered plans by the sect to launch attack in some major government institutions and establishments in the FCT including the Presidential Villa and the National Assembly Complex, adding that the text messages sent by the group to some of their trained members in the FCT had been intercepted by the detectives in the Command.

The FCTpolice commis- sioner, however, revealed that on interrogation, the arrested Boko Haram sus- pects confessed that they were drafted from Kano, Jigawa, Yobe and two from Niger Republic and assem- bled in Kano where they took off with two buses with the inscription,“AfriBank bus”. “Upon interrogation, they all claimed they have no specific means of livelihood and that they were travelling to the South–Western states to search for menial jobs”. According to Mr. Haruna, “we cannot tell you all the secrets. The main thing is that we have arrested all those ones and if we tell the whole world our secrets, then it will be difficult to arrest them.

We have also gathered that they were spe- cially trained. “We have also heard that there are security threats from the group. We gathered that Abuja is the main target but that they have to start from somewhere to attract attention before launching their attacks on the FCT. Nevertheless, I want to assure that we on our part are ready and equal to the task. We have arrested some sus- pects and some of the sus- pects have fled some parts of the FCT.

I will not say more than that because of security reasons. “From all intelligent sources, they have been existing for a long time under various guises. It is not normal that anybody will leave any part of the country for another without any spare dress in two buses. They look healthy and well fed. Certainly, there is suspi- cion that they are members of this sect, either running away or moving to another place to reconverge and wreack mayhem”Haruna stated.
