Family / Brewing Kindness: The Global Phenomenon Of Suspended Coffees by Ijeoma660(f): 3:39pm On Sep 19 |
As I sat in the cozy coffee shop, sipping my latte, I witnessed a peculiar transaction. Two people approached the counter and ordered, "Five coffees, please. Two for us and three hanging." They paid, took their coffees, and left. Curiosity got the better of me, and I asked the waiter, "What's this about hanging coffees?" "Wait and you'll see," he replied with a knowing smile. More customers arrived, and the pattern continued. A group of three women ordered seven coffees – three for themselves and four hanging. My wonder turned to awe when a man dressed in worn clothes, likely homeless, entered the shop. With a hint of hope, he asked, "Do you have a coffee hanging?" "Yes, sir," the waiter replied, serving him a warm cup. Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes as I realized the beauty of this tradition. Strangers were paying for coffees in advance, leaving them "hanging" for those who couldn't afford a hot drink. The waiter shared the story behind this custom, which originated in Naples, Italy, as "Caffè Sospeso." Today, it's known by various names globally: - Suspended Coffee (USA) - Pending Coffee (UK) - Café Pendiente (Spain) - Café au Pendu (France) - Caffè in Sospeso (Italy) - Kaffee auf Kommission (Germany) - Café à la Prochaine (Belgium) Inspired, I decided to contribute to this ripple of kindness. I ordered two coffees – one for myself and one hanging. As I left the shop, I felt a sense of connection to the community and the strangers who would benefit from these small acts. The hanging coffees had become a symbol of humanity's inherent goodness. Let's Bring This Movement to Nigeria! Imagine walking into a coffee shop in Lagos, Abuja, or Port Harcourt and ordering a "hanging coffee" for someone in need. Let's spread kindness and warmth across our communities. Join the Movement: 1. Share this story with friends and family. 2. Encourage your local coffee shops to adopt the "hanging coffee" tradition. 3. Start ordering "hanging coffees" and inspire others to do the same. Together, we can brew kindness and make a difference in Nigeria! Use the hashtag #HangingCoffeeNG to track the movement's progress and share your experiences!*

Politics / The Clear Winner: Dangote Fuel Sets A New Standard! by Ijeoma660(f): 7:36pm On Sep 11 |
Why is Dangote fuel remarkably clear? The reason is that the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) is exceptionally pure, similar to water. Petrol typically comes in various colors, indicating its composition: - Red: Octane has been added for enhanced performance - Slightly Green: Higher octane content is present - Yellow: The fuel is unleaded, meaning it contains no lead - Clear (like water): Ethanol has been used, which offers several benefits Ethanol improves engine efficiency and power while reducing air pollution. Its high oxygen content minimizes carbonation in engines, resulting in lower carbon dioxide emissions. This makes Dangote fuel the best form of petrol available. Congratulations to Dangote and Nigeria for achieving this milestone!" 2 Likes

GabrielYulaw: Rewiring and laziness... Haha Currently its only the security light that is still left. We even used the inverter to iron for the first time and no issues. I recharged my prepaid meter last in February 50k. That was prior to when I upgraded my inverter and batteries. I leave the connections to grid and gen intact as a back up plan in case of device failure or extended cloudy days beyond my 2days autonomy. See my load profile on a typical day. Notice those peaks. Those are boiler and microwave usage. My usage is 10.7kWh for that day and this would go up because we didn't use washing machine that day and 2 people traveled. Work that on Bandit A for the month. 2 Likes

Ijeoma660: This week we got news that we have finally been dumped on Bandit A. I immediately removed some of the few things still left og EKEDC to inverter. 1. Electric boiler - moved 2. Microwave - moved 3. Outdoor security lights - Pending when electrician comes 4. Washing machine - partially. I use extension box. Observation. -So far so good, its going well. - I recorded harvest peak at 3.3kW for the first time too. - My solar panels are split in two separate locations. The ground mounted has started seeing better radiation. 7 Likes

Ijeoma660: I have added another 5kwh to my setup to enable ne have 1 day autonomy. I alao have a timer switch for my freezer. Previously when I had only 5kwh battery installed It switches on the freezer by On 8.30am and Off 5.30pm Based on this arrangement by morning my battery is about 35% (5kwh) But after adding another 5kWh making a total of 10kWh battery. I did a calculation and arrived at the on/off times for the freezer On 6am and Off 11pm By morning my battery's percentage is at +/- 60% (10kWh) If it happens to be a cloudy weather I cam go on without the need for grid dependency. This way i don't worry anyone with switching off the lights when not in use etc... Cost of equipment so far Inverter 423k LFPB 5kWh 1.350m LFPB 5kWh 1.071m PV array 18nos x 300Wp 480k. (warehouse clearance sale) Timer switch 12k WiFi module for online control and monitor 51k Load on the system 1. TVs 2nos (65 and 47inch 2. Fans 5nos 3. Microwave 4. Freezer 250L 5 Bedside fridge 6. Several LED Light 7. Home entertainment 8. Laptop etc. Its amazing I have bo idea whether there is NEPA light or not. 11 Likes 1 Share

Crime / EXCLUSIVE: Nigerian Army Dismisses Soldier For Having Sex With Colleague’s Wife by Ijeoma660(f): 6:02pm On May 05 |
May 5, 2024 According to multiple sources, the Lance Corporal was dismissed during the week at 231 Battalion in Biu, Borno State. The Nigerian Army has dismissed a soldier, Abdullahi Ismail after he was found guilty of having sex with his colleague’s wife, SaharaReporters has gathered. According to multiple sources, the Lance Corporal was dismissed during the week at 231 Battalion in Biu, Borno State. “The soldier was fired from the Nigerian Army for sleeping with his colleague’s housewife. We’re happy as this will serve as an example to others involved in this act now common in our barracks,” one of the sources said. Another source added, “Our colleague, Abdullahi has been dismissed at 231 BN Biu. He slept with his regular's wife. So sad.” The source added that the dismissed soldier had a notorious history of sexual indiscipline before he was reported to the army authorities. His offence - indecent professional misconduct and having sex with a fellow soldier’s wife - contravenes Sections 79 and 93 of the Armed Forces Act CAP A20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. The law prescribes jail term and dismissal from service with dishonour. This comes a few days after the Nigerian Army authorities dismissed two soldiers for stealing armoured cables from the Dangote Refinery, Lagos. SaharaReporters exclusively reported that the soldiers were caught at Dangote Refinery with 897 armoured cables already cut to size and detained in Lagos on April 14.
