Politics › Police Name David Hundeyin, One Other As Pidom’s Accomplices by Ikaeniyan0(op): 7:14pm On Sep 03, 2024 |
The Nigeria Police Force has said a discreet investigation revealed that an investigative journalist, David Hundeyin, and one Michael Alade are Bristol Isaac, aka PIDOMNigeria’s accomplices. PIDOMNigeria was accused of leaking classified and restricted documents, fraud, sedition, and tax evasion among others. Addressing journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, the Force Spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, said PIDOM was arrested following a petition from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. Adejobi added that when operatives of the National Cybercrime Centre stormed PIDOM’s hotel, he resisted arrest, locked himself up, destroyed his phone, and flushed it down the toilet. He said, “The operatives of the Nigerian Police National Cybercrime Center have apprehended an anonymous hacker in connection with alleged criminal conspiracy, offences against the Official Secret Act, leakage of classified and restricted documents, acts likely to cause a breach of the public peace, sedition, fraud, and tax evasion. “The discreet investigation was initiated to identify those responsible for the leakage, which led to the identification of Bristol Isaac, Michael Temidayo Alade, and David Hundeyin who are suspects in connection with the alleged crimes. “The principal suspect, Bristol Isaac, was apprehended at a hotel in Port Harcourt by National Cybercrime Center detectives in an attempt to resist arrest.” He added, “The suspect locked himself in the hotel room, smashed his phone, and flushed it down the toilet to destroy evidence. He also refused to surrender his phone’s password, claiming he had forgotten it, thereby concealing information. Subsequent investigations after his arrest revealed several suspicious activities between the principal suspect and his accomplices. “It has also been established that the suspect also raised funds through anonymous means to sponsor cyber terrorism and other related crimes. “Evidence of this was derived after critical forensic analysis of the suspect’s crypto wallet transactions. The Inspector General of Police, IG Kayode Egbetokun, has reaffirmed the commitment of the force to maintaining peace and also reiterated that the Nigerian police force remains vigilant to take strict and severe action against any individual or group threatening the country’s stability, ensuring they face the full force of the law.” Adejobi also said the suspect had also illegally accessed police-restricted document data. He said, “Investigations also revealed that the suspect was responsible for leaking a sensitive restricted document generated from the Office of the President to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. “The suspect had also illegally accessed police-restricted document data and posted directives from the Office of the Inspector General of Police and many other restricted documents to jeopardize the security network in Nigeria. “The complaints filed by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation alleged that an anonymous blogger using the Twitter handle at PIDOM Nigeria published and distributed a restricted document on a sensitive matter of national security. “ Adejobi said PIDOM’s arrest was to protect national security and maintain public order. He stated, “So the Nigerian Police National Cybercrime Center has done well in this regard to identify this man and subsequently apprehended the man. To protect national security, maintain public order, and identify and apprehend those engaged in criminal activities threatening the stability of our nation.” When asked to clarify if the police are on the trail of Hundeyin and Alade, Adejobi said,” I’m sure they are working assiduously to see how they can get them. Perhaps they must have sent an invitation letter to them. Or they must have contacted them one way or the other. I don’t know the plan the team has. “But I’m sure since they have fingered them, they want to interrogate them for further action. The police will do the needful to make sure everyone involved in such crimes will be brought to book after thorough interrogation and investigation.” The PUNCH reports that Hundeyin raised the alarm on X over the disappearance of PIDOM. He shared screenshots of messages from an unidentified associate of PIDOM who informed him about the PIDOM’s plight. https://punchng.com/police-name-david-hundeyin-one-other-as-pidoms-accomplices/#:~:text=The%20Nigeria%20Police%20Force%20has,and%20tax%20evasion%20among%20others. |

OkCornel: The same organisation that bungled over $40 billion on maintenance of refineries from 1999 till date is also responsible for supply of crude oil to Dangote refinery.
Does that inspire any confidence?
Anyways, time will tell and I sincerely hope they don’t bungle the crude oil supply Tinubu is not the president from 1999. Tinubu is a no nonsense president. I'm sure you have seen how he has being handling his appointees. |

Alusiizizi: The trouble is that they ARE going to bungle the crude supplies. Corruption aside, let's answer this question: Where does the bulk of Nigeria FX reserve comes from? Is it crude? If it is crude oil, then why would the FG forgo opportunity to earn FX in exchange for worthless Naira?
How about a better question: Who is the target audience for these ridiculous soundbites issued by FG? Tinubu himself gave the order for crude to be sold to local refineries in naira, and he was fully supported by the FEC, why will anyone go against the president order? |

If IOCs want to sell crude to Dangote, they will sell to him at OPEC price in naira equivalent. The only reason the price of petrol can come down is if the government wants to subsidize it. Crude oil isn't water anyone can sell anyhow they like. Wetin b the nonsense you dey write sef? A strong naira will lead to the reduction in the price of fuel. |

AmeboFeeds: Be Moderate In Your PMS Price, Segun Showunmi Begs Dangote
ABEOKUTA – As Dangote oil refinery begins supply of 25 million litres of petrol to the Nigerian market daily, a chieftain of PDP in Ogun State, Otunba Segun Showunmi has appealed to Alhaji Aliko Dangote to be moderate in the price of his PMS. Recall that the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) had disclosed on Tuesday that the 25milllion litres supply will rise to 30 million litres from October.
The NMDPRA said it met with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to agree on local crude supply to the refinery.
The President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, formally announced that the 650,000-capacity oil refinery in Lagos has commenced petrol production.
In a live broadcast on Tuesday, Dangote said the supply of petrol into Nigeria would change the country’s energy landscape.
But the PDP Chieftain, in a statement issued in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Tuesday commended Aliko Dangote for redeeming Nigeria’s pride as black nation and contributing value to Nigeria economy with the coming on stream of the PMS from Dangote refinery.
Showunmi noted that, Nigerians have bored heavy burden of fuel hike for so long from NNPC and other major marketers, urging Dangote to take the masses into consideration.
He urged Dangote to consider nationalism, patriotism and empathy above profit.
He said, “Thank you, for on this day you redeemed our pride as black people, as humans capable of contributing value and engaging in the activities that others do. With the coming on stream of the PMS from your Dangote Refinery.
“A grateful nation thanks you. As a pan-Nigerian Patriot, I thank you from the depth of my soul for the shame had gone on for too long.
“You must try as much as possible to be moderate in your pricing for our people have bored such a heavy burden for so long, I get sustainable pricing but ensure that the markup takes into consideration our people.
“You come from a long-standing historical business family from the great Alhassan your great-grandfather to Sanusi your grandfather to your beloved father Mohammed Dangote, not leaving out your supportive mother Hajia Mariya, whose stories of charity and zakat I was told way back in 1998/1999 by locals in Kano. “Profit is good but nationalism, patriotism and empathy must be your guide.
“Oh, Our Creator bless and preserve Dangote Refinery, The Workers, and all that have dealings with it. Let this effort be preserved, let it grow from strength to strength. As you have preserved Rockefeller does preserve and sustain Aliko Dangote for generations.
“Now let the giant called Nigeria awake, stand up, and take its rightful place in the comity of nations.”
ENCOUNTER Segun Showunmi is not making sense at all. I'm sure Dangote won't listen to his senseless talk. |
Politics › Tinubu’s Naira-For-Crude Policy Will Slash FOREX Demand By 40% — Dangote by Ikaeniyan0(op): 3:12pm On Sep 03, 2024 |
The head of the Dangote Group, and owner of the $19 billion Dangote Refinery, Aliko Dangote, has said that President Bola Tinubu’s Naira-for-crude policy will reduce the demand for foreign exchange (forex) by 40 percent.
He said this today, Tuesday, at a press conference where he announced the commencement of the production of petrol at the Lagos-based 650,000 barrels per day facility, where he declared “it’s a celebration day” for Nigerians.
Recall that in April, the Federal Government said indigenous refineries could buy crude oil in Naira or dollars.
Also, the government revealed, the total crude oil and condensate reserves in Nigeria increased to 37.5 billion barrels as of January 1, with a life index of 68.01 years.
Forex slash Speaking on the impact of forex demand, Dangote said: “I will like to salute the people of Nigeria and the government of President Bola Tinubu for creating the environment for us to thrive and also achieve this.
“I want to thank President Bola Tinubu for creating this idea of Naira-for-crude and Naira for the product.
“Doing that will give a lot of stability to the Naira and remove 40 percent of the demand for dollars. That’s not just it. There is (been) a lot of round-tripping.”
Also, he said, “Now that we have this refinery working, it will show the true consumption of Nigeria. We can track each loaded truck and try as much as possible to track the loaded ships.
“We can tell you where they are and for some of the products we have, we can tell you the (national) consumption.”
Furthermore, he assured of the quality of petrol from the Dangote Refinery.
He assured Nigerians that they “are now going to have good petrol while the engines of your vehicles will last longer.
“You will not be having an engine issue, which a lot of us were having. It won’t happen at all.
“The quality here will match that of anywhere in the world; US, America. We will make sure that nobody will beat us in terms of quality,” Dangote promised. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2024/09/tinubus-naira-for-crude-policy-will-slash-forex-demand-by-40-dangote/
