KaLuCh: Do you understand that our currency was devalued? So because it was devalued, it now means it can't gain value again? There's a reason the government devalued the naira twice and I doubt you know why The pressure on the naira will really reduce because we won't need to be spending billions of dollars on importing petrol again. |

Politics › Re: Crude Oil Sales In Naira To Dangote, Others Begin October 1 - Finance Minister by Ikaeniyan0: 7:53am On Aug 20, 2024 |
finson: I don't think so. The dollars that were supposed to be made from that volume are also lost. The game changer would have been to sell the overall production to all local refineries in NGN, and to export pms in NGN to strengthen the Naira. But this will never happen because of the contracts signed with Oil Companies. Dangote and other refineries in Nigeria won't put pressure on the naira by buying dollars they will use to purchase crude from the NNPCL. It will also lead to a reduction on how much we spend on importing refined crude from abroad. If we're spending $100m on importing petrol, we won't spend up to that on importing petrol again from October. |
