Abuja - As fallout from President GEJ's unilateral renaming of the University of Lagos continues, government officials are beginning to distance themselves from the President's latest faux pass.

Latest to absolve himself of blame is the president's own speechwriter who further lamented that his boss never sticks to the lines prepared for him.

According to him, “It is as if the man gets carried away anytime he sees a microphone.”

The speechwriter, who was once a respected journalist, secretly revealed to our reporter that even the vice president and members of the cabinet were shocked when President Jonathan ended his democracy day speech by renaming the university previously known as UNILAG, MAULAG.

Said he: "As I'm speaking to you now, some people in his (the President's) party have even been asking 'does this man know the constitution?'"

To prove that he, the speechwriter, indeed had no knowledge of the arbitrary, military-style renaming of University of Lagos, the man said "I am an educated man. If I was asked to write about MKO, I would never in my life have referred to him as 'presumed-winner' of June 12 election. In fact, when I think about it that is the one that baffles me the most about what he (GEJ) said; I mean, how can you say you are honoring someone and in the same voice deny the thing you claim to be honoring them for?"

LAGOS: A plane carrying 153 passengers crashed Sunday in a densely populated district of Nigeria's economic capital Lagos, the head of Civil Aviation Authority told AFP, adding he feared none had survived.



"It was a Dana (airline) flight out of (the capital) Abuja to Lagos with about 153 people on board," Harold Demuren said. "I don't believe there are any survivors."



Lagos State police spokesman Joseph Jaiyeoba said the plane went down in the Iju neighbourhood on the mainland of the city, where most of the city's population is concentrated. The crash happened near the airport.



A spokesman for Nigerian airline Dana confirmed one of its planes had crashed but could not immediately provide further details.



"I can confirm that one of our planes crashed today on the outskirts of Lagos," Tony Usidamen said.



"We lost communication with the aircraft. We are going to issue an official statement."

It is a welcome development, however there 's people with good intentions here. my advice is we can't take because of some unscrupulous elements in this forum and shut the door against umemployed nigerians seeking one way or the other to meet up. I think it's the sole responsibility of the moderator to screen every post being made here and possibly delete or flush out any suspected thread immediately and promote anyone he sees as a good money making idea/ opportunity to the neccessary page. I really give credit to the moderator(s)so far just that he needs to improve.
