Politics / Re: Bomb Blast At Bayero University In Kano by ikee(m): 11:30am On Apr 29, 2012
At least six people have been killed in a gun and bomb attack at a university in Nigeria's northern city of Kano, witnesses and police said.

A bomb squad and military units are searching for the gunmen who mounted the attack at Bayero University.

Reports suggest the violence may have targeted Christian students who were holding a religious service in one of the lecture theatres.

An army spokesman said several wounded people had been taken to hospital.

Lt Iweha Ikedichi told the Associated Press news agency: "There were casualties, but I don't have exact figures. Some have been rushed to local hospitals."

He said soldiers and police had surrounded the university and were searching for the gunmen.

The AFP news agency said its reporter had counted six bodies at the university, and local police said the death toll could be higher.

No group has said it launched the attack, but the Islamist militant Boko Haram group is active in Kano.

A university in Nigeria's northern city of Kano has been rocked by gunfire and an explosion, which may have targeted Christian students.

An army spokesman said a number of people had been wounded and were being rushed to hospital, but it was not clear how many casualties there were.

Staff at Bayero University told the BBC that the incident was still going on.

Reports said the explosion appeared to target a lecture theatre where Christian students hold services.

Military spokesman Lt Iweha Ikedichi told the Associated Press news agency: "There were casualties, but I don't have exact figures. Some have been rushed to local hospitals."

He said soldiers and police had surrounded the university and were searching for the gunmen.

No group has said it launched the attack, but the Islamist militant Boko Haram group is active in Kano.

Boko Haram carried out a bombing in Kano in January that killed about 150 people, its deadliest attack to date.

Nigeria's central government has struggled to contain the militant group, which operates mainly in the predominantly Muslim north, but has also struck as far south as the capital, Abuja.

*You are now at a crossroads. This is your opportunity to make the most
important decision you will ever make. Forget your past. Who are you now?
Who have you decided you really are now? Don't think about who you have
been. Who are you now? Who have you decided to become? Make this
decision consciously. Make it carefully. Make it powerfully.

*All personal breakthroughs being with a change in beliefs. So how do we
change? The most effective way is to get your brain to associate massive pain
to the old belief. You must feel deep in your gut that not only has this belief
cost you pain in the past, but it's costing you in the present and, ultimately, can
only bring you pain in the future. Then you must associate tremendous pleasure
to the idea of adopting a new, empowering belief.

quotable qoutes are meant for inspiration, direction and motivation. so let's begin, what are your favourites? as for me i love those ones;

*Don't argue for other people's weaknesses. Don't argue for your own. When
you make a mistake, admit it, correct it, and learn from it--immediately.
Dr. Stephen Covey

*Quality questions create a quality life. Successful people ask better questions,
and as a result, they get better answers.
Success in life is the result of good judgment. Good judgment is usually the
result of experience. Experience is usually the result of bad judgement.

*It's not what's happening to you now or what has happened in your past that
determines who you become. Rather, it's your decisions about what to focus on,
what things mean to you, and what you're going to do about them that will
determine your ultimate destiny.

Education / Re: Public Schools Back In Those Days (Your Experiences) by ikee(m): 4:18pm On Apr 27, 2012
I attended my whole primary in a public school, one incident happened which i will never forget in a hurry. I was in pry. 4 then.It was closing day and we had gathered in our big hall expecting the HM to call out top positions for their gifts. it happened that i was bearing an exact name and surname with one boy in the same pri.4 with me. when it got to our class turn,to my surprise, The Headmaster called my name as the no. 1st position! Come seeo, i jump out with my elder sister seriously escorting and congratulating me. But the unfortunate thing t is that it is not my name the HM really mean, it was the other boy i'm bearing name with.so later on the gifts have to be transferred to him.I can;t really remember whether they compensated me.

Having Tough times passing your Post JAMB Exams?
*Are you Tired Of Writing Post UTME Every Year Without Success?

*Are You Preparing for post utme?

It is very important to note that passing JAMB/utme does not guaranty automatic admission into any nigerian university, rather it's only a ticket that qualifies candidate.

Post utme aptitude test is an extension of the JAMB examination in which candidates are expected to pass in order to gain admission into any university within Nigeria. it is important to know that most students who passed JAMB examination, ends up not passing their Post UTME.

Imagine the case of a young man that scored as high as 260 in his Jamb but later scored only 19 in his Post Jamb Exams thereby Denying him admission into a university and forcing him to wait for the next 2 years to start Afresh! Pity, you will say! Passing post utme is more than just reading and going to the examination hall, it requires basic preparations and strategies.
Politics / Re: Over 20 Killed As Explosion Rocks Sadauna Crescent, Kaduna by ikee(m): 12:58pm On Apr 08, 2012
KADUNA (AFP) - A car bomb attack outside a church in Kaduna on Easter Sunday left at least 20 dead and scores wounded, a rescue source said.

The explosion, a stark reminder of Christmas Day attacks that left dozens dead in the country, occurred where motorcycle taxi drivers and passersby caught much of the blast.

At least one car said to be driven by a suicide bomber was involved in the attack, though a rescue official speaking on condition of anonymity said two vehicles packed with explosives detonated.

“Now we have 20 dead from the twin explosions,” the rescue official, who was not authorised to speak publicly, told AFP. Officials were still counting the number of wounded, he added.

“Bombs concealed in two cars went off just opposite this church,” he said.

A police officer at the scene said a man believed to be a suicide bomber driving a car was stopped at a checkpoint near the church and turned back, but drove to a nearby area close to a hotel and detonated the bomb.

Other cars in the area were damaged, but it was unclear if they were also carrying explosives, he said.

A spokesman for the national emergency management agency said most of the victims appeared to be motorcyle taxi drivers who were in the area at the time.

Police confirmed the explosion was a bomb, but did not officially comment further.

“We have a bomb explosion. We are trying to sort things out,” police spokesman Aminu Lawal told AFP.

Residents reported seeing dead and injured being taken away. An AFP correspondent said he saw 10 bodies, while one resident said he counted at least 10 wounded.

Another resident said that “from my balcony, I could see policemen loading the dead and the injured into waiting vans.”

One resident said the explosion was strong enough to shake his house and cause his ceiling to cave in. He ran to the site, which had already been cordoned off, but he said he could see damage to the Assemblies of God Church and cars.

Authorities as well as foreign embassies had warned of the possibility of an attack on Easter Sunday.

@ Sayusuf or whatever you call yourself, read the news again before complaining that muslims are being killed. From the report, it said the bomber was on his way to the church before the bomb exploded. so he hasn't got to his destination. And Why is it that it's almost every time christians are celebrating that such things happens? and you are now blaming it on christians. Well all I know is that there's no peace for the wicked.

Effective Study Skills
Synopsis
Effective study skills have to be applied in order for you to improve. It is not
enough to simply entertain the thought of studying; you have to actually do
it.
The Skills

Effective study skills have to be applied in order for you to improve. It is not
enough to simply entertain the thought of studying; you have to actually do
it. This is the central idea of this book. All that follows depends on this
single concept. There's a saying that goes like this: "Practice does not make
perfect; perfect practice makes perfect." If you would like to be a success,
take this saying to heart.

There is value in a schedule.
Prior to you even thinking about the process of studying, you must create a
schedule. If you do not have an agenda or plan for studying, then you wont
not have any way of allocating your valuable time when the unexpected
arises. An effective, well thought out schedule can be a lifesaver.
It is up to you to learn how to produce a schedule that meets your demands, revise it
if necessary and most important, and abide by it.

A schedule saves time.

All schedules should be made with the theme that they can be revised. An
effective agenda keeps you from drifting off course. An effective schedule, if
properly handled, assigns time where time is required, but you have got to
want to do it!

Making each hour count.

A schedule should take into account each class, laboratory, lecture, social
event, and other work in which you engage. You have to center on the other
"free time" available and how you'll use it.
Create a weekly schedule and block off the 24 hour day in one hour
increments. Indicate times for classes, labs, lectures, social, and work time.
Also block off a point for sleeping every day. With what is remaining, plan
time for study or recreation. This gives you a rough guideline of the time
available. Naturally, you will be able to revise your agenda as things come
up.

When is the right time to study?

The problem of when to study is vital. A great guideline is that studying
should be carried out only when you're rested, alert, and have planned for
it. Last minute studying just before a class is normally a waste of time.

Everybody has got a different "learning style". Consequently, everybody has
a different "studying style". But the way that you're studying right now
might not be the best for you. How would you know?

Simple:
If your grades are not what you would like them to be, then you
probably have to modify how you study! I am going to give you a few
suggestions on how to study effectively.
They worked for me when I was in
high school, college, and grad school. Given that everybody's learning style
is different, a few of my suggestions may not work for you, at least not
without some individual adjustments.

All the same, I recommend you to try them. Many successful scholars use
them (or some slight version of it). Throughout this report I'm going to let
you in on why studying is important, tips on how to study, exam survival
tips, and scoring big on homework and tests!
