Family / Re: My Baby Is Not Pooping by ikubch(m): 2:28pm On Jan 16, 2016
Okunbabe:
Please mothers in the house, I need your help. My 7-month old baby has not been pooping, and even when he manages to poo after much straining and crying, it comes out very hard, sometimes with blood. This has been going on for more than a month. I've been to the hospital twice, and undiluted orange juice and plenty of other fruits with enough water was the basic recommendation, but up till now the problem persists even with the everyday fruit diet. For home remedies, I've been advised to put baby mentholatum in his anus, some recommended olive oil or liquid paraffin for easy passage of d poo, but nothing seems to be working. I've also tried massaging his tummy and making him seat in warm water, all to no avail. I even stopped his cereal temporarily and was giving him pap instead with his follow-on formula (he has stopped active breast feeding), but it's not getting better. Mothers please advice, what else can I do?
Get a bottled mentholatum and a warm water. Gently apply the mentholatum on the anus then carefully drop the warm water using a neat napkin on the anus. There will be an instant relief while the poo is forcefully ejected. Give the baby some water afterwards.

No. Once you pay acceptance, you are qualified for deferment. He should approach the designated course adviser first for further clarification.

Izugab:
First off, good evening my dear nairalanders. This problem has been quite insidious that I couldn't predict what the end of it could be.

Actually, I've seen lots of testimonies and helps that have been rendered to countless fellow nairalanders and this has prompted me to writing out this to see if God will help me as well from this great and noble forum.

I left secondary school in 2012 at a non-encouraging age of 20 cos of some set backs when I was little. In fact, I live in one of the most remote place in Nigeria. I live at Okpoko to be precise. Am an indigenous of Umuoghara Ugo, Ezza North in Ebonyi state. I'll certainly be 24 by June 14 this year.

I was a bright student actually not until my family's problems affected me psychologically and otherwise. I've been writing jamb and postutme since 2013 but it's not been successful. I processed my admission last year 2015 right from jamb to postutme and it's successful. I can't afford to forget the acclamation showered on me when my friend to me that he saw my name in UNN's merit list. I was hysterical with joy and happiness when I checked my name on the list by myself. But hardly did I know that my happiness will fade with time and my schooling a reality still within my dream world.
About my family

I am the third child of a family of eight. My dad left us when I was in Jss3, that's 2009 to be precise. My elder brother managed to take his wassce exam and went into work. We've been managing from the little that comes from the meagre earnings of my mother and brother. My elder sister got admitted into the university a year before I came out of secondary school. My brother managed to save up little money plus the ones he borrowed without our knowledge and travelled to Holland. We thought that all was alright cos of the prospect of a better life ahead of us. He was deported after four months. Luckily for me, I started working at a production company. From my earnings, I catered for all my sisters tuition fees in school. I pay our house rent monthly. A times, I bring money for food at home. My mum and I pooled our earnings to settle the debt owed by my brother. I can vividly say with tears in my eyes that things ve been bad for us.

My current state

Since I was admitted into UNN, I've tried all my best in terms of finance but none is coming forth. The most saddening and discouraging part of it is that UNN imposed on all the freshers a whole sum of seventy thousand(N70 000) for laptop which can as well be paid on installments of N25 000 for three times as well as huge sum of N58950 as school fees. I only managed to pay N25 000 acceptance fee but the school fees and the N25 000 for the first installment of the laptop has kept me away from school despite the fact that the 2015/2016 session started last year by December. Now the Christmas and new year holiday has lapsed and lectures are to resume by Monday 11 January.

Please my fellow nairalanders, I need financial help now. I can't afford to lose this admission after paying N25 000 acceptance fee. I can't write another jamb now either cos am emotionally, psychologically and physically strained to the extent that my brain can't process anything which I read.

I'll answer any question thrown on me. I can upload the pix of my documents as relevant to my admission as a proof.

As pointed by bobo65, here is the bank details

Acc No: 0004955961

Acc Name: NWOYE IZUCHUKWU GABRIEL

Bank: STANBIC IBTC
Since you have paid the acceptance feen Defer the admission for one year by contacting the Dean and HOD, then you can resume when you have worked and pooled resources together.

Source: http://adielem.com/2015/08/28/lionel-messi-vs-cristiano-ronaldo-the-never-ending-comparisons/
The never ending comparisons between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo is a perceived continuos cycle which comes up to the forefront each time one of them breaks a record or claims a landmark achievement. Both players are widely regarded as being among the best of all time in the sport, having won the FIFA Ballon D’or awards for a combined Seven years stretch. Both players have also scored in two seperate UEFA Champions League finals each. They have regularly broken the “50” goal barrier in a single season, and have scored over 400 career goals for club and country.

Sports journalists and pundits regularly argue the individual achievements of both players in an attempt to argue who they believe is the best player in modern football. The rivalry that exists between both players has been compared to legendary global sporting rivalries such as the Muhammad Ali–Joe Frazier rivalry in boxing which brought forth the historic”Rumble in The Jungle”, the John McEnroe – Bjorn Borg in tennis, and the Michael Jordan- Patrick Ewing rivalry in Basketball. In an interview granted by Ronaldo in 2012, the portuguese superstar commented on the rivalry, saying”I think we push each other sometimes in the competition, this is why the rivalry is so intense”. Even their respective managers at club and national level have also lent credence to the argument with Ronaldo’s manager during his time at Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson, stating that “I don’t think the rivalry against each other bothers them. I think they have their own personal pride in terms of wanting to be the best”. Lionel Messi himself has continuosly denied the existence of any form of rivalry, saying that it was “only the media, the press, who wants us to be at loggerheads but I’ve never fought with Cristiano”. Yoruba's haven't given any tribe reason to emulate them. Though I stand to be corrected.

A wise tribe in Nigeria must try very hard not to offend the Yoruba. If we say let Biafra be. It shall be. The problem you people have is that we have not supported Biafra. The day we do so, you shall have it. But I doubt it if we will ever support you people due to immaturity. Biafra independence in the hands of Yoruba.

I am asking this question in order to put to rest the lies being peddled by some so called south southerners, that Aniomaland in present day Delta state once belonged to the Binis but was "grabbed" by the igbos. Any good student of history knows about the once great Bini empire and how they tried to expand to other territories in the southern Nigeria(including Lagos)through the help of the white man.

So, the question is, if the Bini empire was so powerful, how then did the igbos succeed in "grabbing" their supposed land up to igbanke? All evidence, including physical looks and linguistic points to the fact that inhabitants of Aniomaland, igbanke, and even Esanland were originally igbos, but were corrupted by the binis.

Your opinions are highly welcome.
They took history away from you people. Igbo never had an empire. If so, Achebe would have said so.

Politics / Re: A Look At 2 Different Historical Accounts About The Origin Of The Igbo Tribe? by ikubch(m): 10:37am On Jan 08, 2016
realjoker:
Several historians of Igbo culture have written various accounts concerning where Igbos originated from. Anyone writing an historical account of Igbo people must have facts to back it up. However, no historian can claim the historical accounts of other historians are either truthful or falsehood, because no historical account is nobler than the other.
Here are two (2) historical accounts of Igbo origin:
1. Igbos are descendants of Jacob who later became known as Israel. Israel had 12 sons one of which was known as Gad. When famine caused Jacob and his sons to migrate to Egypt where there was an abundance of food at the time. They remained in Egypt for many years; before the Egyptians became envious and began to persecute the Israelites.Gad who became the patriarch of all Igbos had 7 sons – Eri was the 5th of them. Before the Egyptian persecution began, Eri in company of his family and associates left Egypt after catching an inkling of impending persecution in Egypt.Eri and his people then traversed several rivers and hills. They crossed river Nile and entered Southern Sudan, and moved onto Chad. From Chad, they crossed river Benue and came to Lokoja. From Lokoja, they sailed through river Niger and came ashore at Aguleri around 1305 BC. they settled close to the confluence point of Ezu and Omambala rivers. But Eri and his people did not stay there for long, because of the consistent flooding of the two rivers. At that confluence point of the two rivers, Eri built a shrine where he regularly offered prayers and spiritual rites to God, and to honour his own father – Gad. After Eri finished setting up his shrine, he had a dreamt, and in his dream, an entity changed his name from Eri to Igbo. From then onwards, Eri became known as Igbo. He loved the name so much that he named his fourth son Igbo. The name Igbo started trending, and became popular across the Eastern side of river Niger. The word Igbo (derived from I puru gboo, which means You left early) had great significance to Eri and his people of the, because they left Egypt early enough before the great persecution began.Later on, Eri’s descendants started to migrate to other parts of the South-East in search of livelihood… the rest has become real history.
2. Another story by some Igbo historians say that Igbos didn’t descend from Jewish people rather that they were originally inhabited West Africa.Just as Igbos believe that “ if someone says food tastes good, he should also say what it tastes like.” Scholars of the second school of thought believe that the second story is based on discoveries and excavation of great works of art made in various parts of Igboland such as Igbo-ukwu, Okigwe, and Nsukka to support their viewpoint. They are asking why do Igbos not share similar skin colour and hair texture like the Jews? Again, that if sunburn was responsible for darkening the complexion of Eri and his associates, does the same sunburn the cause of the dark skin of their offspring?

http://obindigbo.com.ng/2015/03/what-are-the-2-different-stories-that-concern-igbo-origin/
If Igbo had a significant origin, Achebe would have told us so. Their origin is lost.

Family / Re: Please Help Me Understand My Nigerian Hubby by ikubch(m): 10:24am On Jan 08, 2016
tortmistress:
Ladies and gentleman I am at my wits' end and need some help. My hubby of 8 years, who used to be a lovely, generous man, has turned around to become someone I cannot recognize. I myself am not from Nigeria. I have started to wonder if maybe others may have a better sense of what is happening here - that maybe there are some cultural issues that I am missing.

To the meat of the story - my hubby and I have been living quite peacefully with no major problem with our two children. 2015 I started to notice that my hubby seemed concerned if I chat with any brother at church, even briefly. Because of my profession, some people at church will accost me after service to ask 1 or 2 questions and I will often give advice but of course there is nothing bad or immoral being discussed. My hubby has always been aware this happens, and had not problem but recently started being annoyed if the person asking a question is a brother. I tried to discuss with him but also reduced my habit to keep the peace.

Okay, I thought maybe that is all but then things started to get worse - my hubby started to ask me what did I tell this person or that person about him. And I said ah of course I cannot discuss you with this person, if you are mentioned it's just them asking how you are doing and asking to send their regards to you. He started claiming I am discussing him with people and that I am letting people know his business. I try to ask him to clarify what exactly I have said, and to who, and to tell me where he is getting this information but he does not answer. I just say eh sorry but really I don't know what he is talking about.

Things now have gotten seriously out of hand. He is claiming that he has it on good authority that I have conspired with some evil people that are targeting him and I am doing things on purpose to agitate him. I have tried everything I can try to explain to him that this is not true, and that I don't even know how one conspires with evil people. He says someone confirmed his suspicions and told him that I made a deal with the evil people that I will help them to make his life miserable, and in return I will get custody of the children. I have not idea who the person that told him that is and I have not idea where that theory is coming from because God knows my heart, I have never had any evil intent toward my hubby.

His behaviour has become increasingly bizarre and he wakes me up at all times of the night asking me to tell him about the conspiracy that is going on concerning him. When I say I don't know he get agitated and tells me I am such a liar. He claims the children are also being used against him to mock him (our oldest is 6). He says other people outside also mock him. There is no peace in my house, every day is a new story. I cannot have a simple conversation without being accused of mocking him or trying to manipulate him so I can laugh with the evil people. I have informed his family back home and they simply say we should pray for our marriage. I suggested to him that maybe we should try to speak to psychologist and he said a prophet already told him that the evil people and I intend to lie about him and say he is crazy.

Please can someone shed some light on this for me? It is sad and heartbreaking for me to even type this but the truth is that if I cannot understand what is going on soon and see a light at the end of the tunnel I will have to turn my back on my marriage. Please if anyone knows anything that can help me understand him and help him let me know. Thank you for reading this far.
This is an onset of a psychiatric/ psychological disorder. He needs help, if you are in a developed country push him to seek assistance. Don't argue with him, show him love and hold him by the arms in a cross link when outdoor together. If not serious, it might be a sign of insecurity. How is his finance and job?

I need your opinions. I and my husband had a huge quarrel days back where we both exchanged words and spoke nasty at each other. However, he went as far as calling me a wh*re. Nobody in this life has ever called me such a derogatory word before. I’m highly offended but I’m not hurt. He also went as far as saying that I don’t know how to have sex and that I’m terrible in bed. Im so pissed off that I have lost all interest in having sex with this man for now. This is a man that can barely stand me riding him because he can hardly last 6 mins. I have never reached orgasm with him yet I have always made it a point of duty to never let that distract me. I want to know if I am over reacting by staying away from him and what do you all think of his actions towards me as I see this issue as something that will linger on for a while because I’m finding it hard to forgive him and I’m seriously thinking about constantly cheating on him now that he has called me a who*re
Funny, calls you wh.ore and yet claims you are not good in bed. He was just being childish. Both your problems are quite easy to solve. You want orgasm and he wants responsive action from him. Ask him to get the local aphrodisiac by the bedside, those ones prepared in bottles with alcohol and ask hm to buy blue x-rated film of his choice. Get the kids away from the house. That is the GAME.
