Baddestguyp: I was the number 1 hater of Barbie? Do you have any proof of the above or it's just baseless claims as usual?
You ignored my entire point and went on a rant that conveniently ignored everything I said.
My statement is clear. I do not believe that marketing Supergirl to the Barbie crowd would work. Because Supergirl is a superhero movie and the superhero genre is male audience dominated.
I don't think even advertising it as a "Barbie-esqe" movie will bring in the "Barbie Female" audience. It would still be a superhero movie to them.
Dismissing every point I made with a simple term of "marketing will fix it" is lazy. Same as ignoring it and going on a long rant...
Of course everything I typed is my opinion. I may be wrong and I stand to be corrected. There was a time I thought both of you were the same people 🙃 |

Kaycee7: Funny how no one has ever seen you call out any other agenda apart from the "woke agenda" claims peddled by right-wing grifters like Critical Drinker, Nerdrotic and co. That’s cute—acting like I’m out here reading from some right-wing script just because you only notice when I mention woke stuff. I’ve complained about movies dragging for no reason, unnecessary sex scenes, lazy writing, forced nostalgia bait, bloated runtimes—basically all the usual things actual movie fans talk about. But sure, keep telling yourself it’s just “woke agenda” critiques so you can fit me into whatever little box your brain can handle. Must be exhausting thinking everything’s that one-dimensional. |

Palehair: Art being flexible and subjective already rendered your point moot, it can't be defined in a vacuum. There are movies that are created for the sole purpose of the visuals with little or no plot at all, they were just made to make people marvel at their cinematography, that's art to me, at the end of the day, it can't be restricted to follow a set of rules. There are movies that are made with agendas that overpower the story but because you relate to it, it's not seen as an "agenda" to you I get that—art’s subjective, no argument there. But “subjective” doesn’t mean immune to critique. If a movie sacrifices basic storytelling for the sake of pushing an agenda—whether I agree with it or not—that’s still fair game to call out. And let’s not act like everyone suddenly loves plotless movies; most people aren’t lining up for vibes-only movies. You say it’s art when it hits your bias; cool, but don’t expect everyone else to swallow it without an opinion. Me making an opinion of a movie doesn't put me in a box |

MacDaddy01: If you are not a millionaire or US politician but you voted for Trump, you are a MAGA guy.
Don't deny your ideology. My guy, that’s some toddler-level political analysis. “If you’re not rich and you voted Trump, you must be MAGA”? That’s how people who get their worldview from TikTok comment sections think. Reality is: most of us aren’t team blue or team red. Over half the country’s made up of independents and people who don’t trust either party. But sure, keep shouting MAGA like it’s the only vocabulary word you know. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Illusioneffect(m): 3:45pm On Jul 14, 2025 |
Palehair: It's a universal truth that all movies have an agenda that comes from either a collective which is the studio or from the director, some more subtle than others but an agenda non the less, they just happen to be either agendas you agree with or not Sure, every movie reflects something—whether it’s the director’s worldview, the studio’s marketing angle, whatever. That’s normal. But there’s a difference between having a point of view and letting that point of view completely swallow the craft. When the story exists just to push a message instead of the message serving the story? That’s when it stops being art and starts feeling like a PowerPoint presentation with CGI |

TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Illusioneffect(m): 3:38pm On Jul 14, 2025 |
Kaycee7: "into agenda you don't agree with or like" It’s not about “agenda I don’t like.” That’s the lazy take people default to when they can’t separate personal bias from actual critique. If a story stops being a story and turns into a checklist of messaging bullet points, that’s just bad writing—whether I agree with it or not. I’m not here for lectures disguised as entertainment. I’m here for movies that respect the audience’s brain, not treat them like toddlers needing a worldview spoon-fed to them |

Kaycee7: You do you too, babes. Just own it with your chest I call it how I see it, man. If something leans too hard into agenda over story, I’ll say it. If it doesn’t, I’m not gonna force it just to feel part of the pack. That’s the difference: I’m not team-following, I’m just watching movies. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Illusioneffect(m): 10:27am On Jul 14, 2025 |
MacDaddy01: Bro, I'm gonna call you out. It is your MAGA crew that has been shouting "woke superman" and they have been proven resoundingly wrong. Nerdrotic, Ben Shapiro etc.
It is like they have a script for ragebait and false outrage. My MAGA crew?, when TF have I said I'm MAGA😂😭. That’s fair—some of them definitely run on autopilot with the outrage. I’m not here defending that. But just because I rate or critique something doesn’t mean I’m riding with the whole “MAGA crew” either. I don’t move in echo chambers. If the movie’s good, it’s good. If it’s bad, it’s bad. Doesn’t always have to be some culture war storyline attached. |

abduleez1: Easy tiger. Minecraft haul is around $955mn not that number. You're prolly mixing it up with Lilo and Stitch numbers.
It's still early days.... The release schedule for these movies are also different.
It's not doing similar numbers to these movies. International is a bit lukewarm in some markets (Asia and Europe). It also has literally 3 huge competition to fend off, F4, F1, Rebirth.
So.....fingers crossed. Around $700mn remains the goal. Exactly😭 maybe people would watch Superman duo fantastic 4. I don't think fantastic 4 would make money tho tbvh |

oyaskii: Just thinking out loudly here. I have never been a fan of tracking what movie makes or didn't make, i use to care at some point, but i soon realize, it's neither here nor there. Do you as a fan, get an extra kick and faux bragging rights when a movie makes bank? Cuz i believe that should be the studios headache. I simply do not care for James Gunn that much, to be keeping up with all these, i just want to watch the movie, and get on with my day.
I mean, most of the the comments on the movie, since it's widespread premiere yesterday, has been on how much, it is currently making and not the critical aspect of it...if there is some sort of perceived fun attached to this particular discourse, i have most likely weaned myself of it. I get your point — not everyone’s wired to care about box office numbers. But with Superman specifically, it’s a little different. This isn’t just about any movie making bank; it’s literally the reset button for the entire DC universe under James Gunn. If Superman doesn’t perform, it’s not just “oh well, next movie.” It’s the foundation cracking before the house is even built. Studios take those numbers seriously because they decide what gets greenlit next, what budgets get slashed, or if the whole thing gets quietly scrapped. So yeah, it’s not just faux bragging rights. It’s people tracking whether DC finally gets its act together or if we’re back to square one. Especially after years of hit-or-miss projects, there’s this energy like: “Please let this one actually land.” End of the day, if you don’t care, that’s fair. But some folks watch the numbers like stock prices because the ripple effect is real. No one wants to invest feelings in another cinematic universe that gets rebooted mid-stride again. Also, I enjoy tracking numbers because it's also part of my job🤷🏾♂️ |

Palehair: I never said you did and I only called you out because we've gone back and forth with the critical stinker whose criticisms you value and how wokespotting was dumb from the start Fair enough, I get where you're coming from. But you know how it goes: once “woke” gets thrown around enough times, it starts feeling like white noise. I rate movies on whether they're actually good, not whether they fit into someone's Twitter checklist. I don’t always agree with Critical Drinker or whoever, but if the point makes sense, cool. If it’s just “movie bad = must be woke,” that’s where I tap out. |

oyaskii: This been posted by the official WH acc is sending me 😩🥲, extremely cringe doesn't even begin to express my feelings..
I hate how motion picture now are overly political. They used to pander to political vices in the past but it was subtle, these days, it's all too glaring and a tad distracting. I dare say, it restricts creative freedom. I just wanna see a fictional alien from a fictional planet, who grew on a farm in a fictional town in Kansas, kick the butts of fictional villains on a grand spectacle on a massive screen but i am hearing reviews like, the new "Superman" is a fk you to Isreal"....., like, yo, you lot gotta to chill, i didn't come here for all that 😩😩 The white House post isn’t just cringe, it’s social self-harm. Begging to feel among when nobody’s even checking for you. Embarrassing government post Fr. |
