There's nothing romantic about this 3rd season of bridgerton ,that Penelope is just fat for my liking no offense.

can't wait to be done with this season.
Bro that's you! First off, I was bothered about about her weight but watching the trailers made me realise how gorgeous she is. She is so beautiful!

But that film's fall is weird to me.... upon all the premium marketing I was seeing for weeks leading to its release.

HOD,The Bear and The Boys will be next year, as only shows that aired between June 1st 2023 and May 31st 2024 will be considered. We are having 2 emmy awards this year because the one for 2023 was pushed to January. 2024 because of the strike, the one for this year holds around September.
What are the popular shows that'll be in contention

They create nonexistent problems for selfish objectives and to quell boredom. They create false, silly, and pointless narratives/ideas to support their contempt for men, inconsiderate selves, sociopathy, stubbornness and wickedness. They want to spin all sorts of talking points to make themselves seem like oppressed and noble angels before men: the supposedly misogynistic and callous savages. They even unknowingly project themselves unto men to vilify men. grin
Exactly? They bring up the most insane attacks on men- masculinity is wrong! But they'd never want to do the jobs that masculine men do. They're the worst movement that have no point. At this point, there should be male-ism because the oppression is so much. They're the cause of the decline in dating, men getting scared of marriage and all other societal issues, you can't talk to a girl as a well-to-do guy normally without being scared of rape accusations

I see. Yeah, I've been reading reports this week that overall this year's Emmys lineup is looking very weak as there's serious low numbers of eligible shows due to the strike. And the drama series is criminally less competitive.

I need to see this "Baby Reindeer" soon enough to see what the fuss is all about.

Also is it the same shït that's played out with FX's "Fargo" TV show? I see that show in limited TV series and I get confused cos I know it's running on its 5th season by now. 🤔😕 Or is it cos its an anthology series format? Seems Fargo is among the favourites for Best actor role in Limited series so its a win-win for FX if Shogun stays clear and give it better chances against Baby Reindeer.

As for Shogun S2 I don't see a way they're doing it good with how it ended. It's only filler after documenting how Ishido is defeated in which we already have an idea how. Source material is dried up....unless they plan on borrowing from the true life events its adapted from. I still see it ending poorly cos I can't picture them matching the sauce they just served or even surpassing.

That will take genuine wizardry in writing to pull that off, which I highly doubt. The original creators never planned for a follow up, so what's gonna be the motivation.

Anyways, I always felt S2 was inevitable after seeing the show becoming FX most successful show ever. They've never seen this popularity and success in a while.
I still think there are a lot of great shows coming out this year tho. The problem tho apart from the strike is most of the award magnet shows are done and dusted. But series like Abbott Elementary, House of the Dragon, The Bear, the Sympathiser, the Boys, Cobra Kai, Hacks, Shogun, Eric, Ripley are likely the main award series this year. Baby Reindeer is a limited series so it doesn't have a lot of competition

Lol. This is why you don't give young boys and girls access to social media until you have trained them properly and they are eighteen. If they must use social media, try your best to regulate and limit their use. Don't underestimate the influence of social media and the tons of personalities and ideas therein.

For parents and guardians, always have it in mind that society will always join hands to mentally mold your kids.

Well, once the feminist virus embeds itself in a young female's mind, it's a wrap.
So your idea is making young people ignorant then which is way worse. It's not the responsibility of the parents to take social media from them but guide them through what they want to instill

I don’t see any problem here, what’s wrong against advocating for women’s right. Feminism as it is, is the political and economic liberation of women all over the world and we need more women, young girls to wake and stand against all form of gender segregation and stereotypes against women.

Feminism is not a woman refusing to cook for her husband or whatever you think it is. It is both men and women standing on equal grounds in the society.
Men and women are equal in society already, it's just for women to cease the chance, there is no need for a movement

Feminists are usually foolish women who, each time they speak, reinforce the idea that women should remain silent. Feminism is really a misandric and female-supremacist mindset and movement. A movement and mindset of playing victim, female hubris and entitlement, contempt/lack of empathy for men, self-centeredness, and double-standards favouring women.
That's what feminism is right now 🔥 they create problems that don't exist right now

Is advocating for women's right a bad thing...?

Even you were marveled at her passion and zeal.

Allow her... As long as her passion isn't a toxic one.

Most people have taken feminism to a toxic level but the original ideas of feminism is female education and equal opportunities in education, work and politics.

I don't see that as a bad thing!
Actually it's already becoming toxic if a thinks men are 'domesticating women'. It'll become way worse if she finds her colleagues with like minds. Feminism becomes so toxic to the extent it invalidates women itself like how transgender movement does already

Poor Things didn't make close to $150mn. It did $117mn on a $35mn budget. I can't called that a paltry sum even for a movie of its calibre. And that money despite being profitable ain't all that impressive bro. 3.3x multiplier for your budget is basic Hollywood average road to profitability calculation. It's even less impressive judging by it's small budget cos its way easier to do that. If a $100mn+ budgeted film did 3x it's budget and above that would be more impressive.

Poor Things not having a marketing budget is straight up hilarious. Cos we definitely saw how widely campaigned for that movie was. And contrary to what you said Poor Things made a wide release. It started out as a limited release in early December and increased to wide release during Xmas into the new year with awards buzz.
There's no movie with a limited release that's making $100mn+ at the box office. It's virtually impossible.

A small movie with that $35mn budget makes good money when its doing 5x it's budget and above in theatres. Cos smaller movies like that usually spend equal amount of production budgets on marketing to get more eyes on it. So, ONLY theatrically that movie might just have made a paltry $5mn or less. It possibly can make more with the help of ancillary revenue from streaming and dvd sales.

But a $200mn film will never spend $200mn as its marketing budget. It will be in the range from $100mn-150mn.

Monkey Man is skirting barely profitable realm. Produced for $10mn and made 30mn in BO. Half of that $$ goes to cinemas and distributors. So you're left with $15mn. Deduct the production budget and you're left with $5mn. And that's if there's no backend profit participation by the producers or actors of the movie. So really, that $5mn profit is barely there. It mainly just ensures that the project didn't lose money. But of course there's digital and dvd sales to help it if they do their financial calculations well. I've not even talked about marketing, so that movie might just not make any profit at all if we're only looking at theatrical numbers. The only good thing is that it didn't flop and made back it's budget. Profitability is a huge question mark.

Hollywood box office calculations is not just as simple as that.

As for DUNE PART TWO, it's wait and see as those bigger movies usually have complex financials. I would have straight up said Dune 2 was slightly profitable with it theatrical run but because of it being postponed from last year and marketing paused and restarted (which means more spending) and also gaining interest for insurance for not releasing.

But what I'm sure of.... DUNE PART TWO is definitely making sweet profit in the secondary market (in streams and physical media). In fact that money is easily tripling if not quadruple anything that Poor Things or Monkey Man can hope to make.
And this is one of the reasons Hollywood studios would keep giving us sequels, prequels and more IP films.

Looking at the BARBIE financials, that movie made $150mn and $200mn for physical media and streaming & network television deals respectively. That's $350mn alone which easily covers both production budget and marketing. We're even yet to calculate theatrical box office. That is what a big movie like DUNE PART TWO can do. DUNE part two is still in theatres sef despite its digital release.
Exactly my point, most movies don't even think about how much they'll get back in theatres. Monkey man will definitely be successful in theatres, so far the cinemas and all involved get their money back in theatres it is a win win for Patel and could ensure he is trusted enough with a bigger budget. Lanthimos was not even thinking his movie would make up to 50 mil even profitable at all, that movie didn't stay in wide release for up to 2 weeks and still made that amount, what I meant by poor things didn't have a marketing budget means they didnt spend even up to marketing the movie in theatres - check up on that, their popularity came from the Oscars that's why it even had a wide release
TV/Movies / Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Illusioneffect(m): 9:47am On May 09
oyaskii:
Original movies should just strike VOD deals, make their small coins and call it a day, than engaging in a cinematic run that they are not even sure of even making their budget in a month. The VOD deals are even becoming more juicy now, increased competition and all that, because of the sheer number of streaming platforms that exist, so they can leverage on selling to the highest bidder, some like Disney+, Hulu and MAX are even combining to form a super streaming line, so imagine the money offer for a VOD release, from these kind of super streaming line.

Just leave cinema for none IP established titles as an original film, as these ones have enough nostalgic juice to ensure you recoup next to nothing, cuz with cinema adventure being crazily expensive now, people will rather risk it for what they know. The Fall Guy that even has an official Guinness world record, is out this May, but The Kingdom of the Planet of the Ape, The Garfield Movie, and Furiosa:A Mad Max Saga are also out this May. Ain't no way it was surviving this none IP giant franchise sandwich.
Another big problem is how physical media is dying out bro🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️ no one is buying physical movies anymore and that was were most tiny movies made their money back like Paper Soldiers and those 80s movies. Back then movies like the lion King made 2 billion dollars in physical media sales sometimes even way bigger than its theatrical run movies like Boogie Nights, Terminator and even Die Hard

@ SOZINN

To highlight the hypocrisy of the average moviegoer who uses poor scripts as an excuse when every year at least 5 really good widely released original films releases but no interest shown in box office.

Where's Original movies with critical acclaim and box office success with $350mn or more like these👇🏽👇🏽 also note some of these movies were among the top ten highest grossing films in their individual release year as well as award contenders and winners.

"The Revenant" (2015) over $533mn
A Star is Born (2018) $400mn+
The Martian (2016) $630mn+
La La Land (2016) $440mn
Coco (2017) $800mn
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019) $377mn

In these past few years we've had top quality content in The F@belm@n$, The Banshees of Inisherin, The Northman, EEAAO, Triangle of Sadness, Poor Things, Pearl, Anatomy of a Fall, Saltburn etc.

Yet no audience turn out.
Shït is so bad in fact seeing new original films being marketed seems like a guaranteed flop.
It all depends on the budget and the marketing. A movie sometimes is profitabl if it makes its budget back and some more. Monkey man is profitable, it made its budget back, doubled it and it'll definitely do well on streaming. Dune part two did not even make net profit in it's theatrical run even though it made 700m+.
Poor Things a shit ton of money, why? It wasn't even in wide release, it had no marketing budget, and made close to 150 million in limited theatres on a paltry budget

Godzilla: Minus One......9/10

Absolute visual feast. Cool CGI artistry, symbiotic musical score — drives home the feels. The Cinematography was enticing.

It's a perfect symbiotic blend of realism and fantasy. Mixing post WWII realities of war in defeated Japan and the fantasy elements of the Kaiju-verse. It's an artistic beauty this people created.
It's not your normal and basic Godzilla movies with little to no substance. But an honest character development for the individual characters in the film unlike the previous focus on the monsters without gripping storytelling.

Where the superb storytelling ends, the action is there to take it up a notch further.
I'd say this movie has a symbolic representation to the Japs just like Oppenheimer was last year. It was expertly woven with the World War narrative and sufferings of the Japanese citizens after their defeat delivering a gripping story.

The movie is essentially a war movie detailing the effects of war and its consequences and the fight for survival when faced by an existential threat.
Beautiful action scenes, the destruction and death in this movie was premium tier. You could feel for the death of the individual characters unlike the other Hollywood Godzilla movies where I hardly give zero fvvks for the background characters dying. The emotional weight was greatly charged.

The ending was damn too good. Also very emotional ending — kinda shed a drop of tear. It was well acted by the actors, great directing and writing.

Wondering where the next one takes us and the Gojira DNA seemingly left in Noriko's neck.

Need more of this product from Japan, live action wise.
Uhmmmmmm.... Looks like I'm the only one that feels like Godzilla Minus One is the most overhyped piece of dogshit I've ever seen. I sincerely can't see how this movie won best visual effects in the Oscars - you can totally see the low ass budget on the movie most of the time. The scene of Godzilla looking like a candle burnt toy; the overhead scene of the soldiers on the ship in the beginning, you'll totally know they're CG renderings of Ken dolls or something - The Creator should have taken the price.

This movie has the worst extras trying to act scenes. Please abduleez and others- rewatch the scenes where they were first gathered to discuss how to kill Godzilla omg - this extras were looking at the camera😂 sometimes, the main person talking would shout and the extras would try to wiggle their mouths like they were performing in a Broadway show.

The rest of the cast except the main guy were so effing flat- I slept 3 times trying to watch this movie. The movie started badly and ended well but I was already bored at the middle of it so much that the pay off wasn't worth it in the end. I was just there staring at it till the end forcing myself to watch so my 1.something GB won't be a waste.

I was actually rooting for this movie to be good, unfortunately for me- it was so mid and I fckin downloaded the 1080p version!!! Wtf!
It was a good movie so overhyped that it then felt like a bad movie to me - 4/10

P.S.: Why do most Japanese actors act like they're I'm a play. They always have to use overaching gestures, open their mouths wide just to act!

Meet the horror genre. The gift that keeps giving. The most profitable and bankable low-risk genre in Hollywood.

On a more serious note, it seems small to mid budget films are on the rise again after the ginormous banger that was 2019 with numerous "big films" bringing huge money at the box office and COVID essentially delivered a huge blow to smaller movies theatrically with more people only willing to go to cinemas unless it's a true event film or worth the stress.

NB: Warner Bros might have had a mixed year with big flops in the superhero genre but their overall lineup of films had enough impact to put the company in the green. The studio is already set to win 2024 for the first time in a long while.
Horror is the king of making a shit ton of money without a budget. Look at Saw movies a 2 billion dollar franchise over a measly 100 million dollar budget. The Blair Witch Project made 246 million dollars on a 60k budget wtf!
