I think it is high time we stopped saying this. No country wakes up one day and stop flights into the country unless there's a state of emergency like I'm the US during 9/11. No country shuts its borders against it's citizens without prior notice. They would give some time frame before such action is taken. It's like that allover the world. We didn't have enough cases to declare state of emergency before flights were halted.

Majority of the problems we are having right now come from irresponsible citizens who refused to observe self isolation after getting into the country starting from the people at the top. Abba kyari (rip) didn't observe self isolation when he returned, atiku's son did the same. God knows how many people they infected. And several hundreds of returnees that refused to take responsibilities. It's not a bad thing for the government to (out of respect) ask it's citizens to observe self isolation upon returning to the country. If they had enforced it maybe it would have been better but then some would say they are being denied of their social rights. When these people visit other countries they obey the government directives and go on 2 weeks self isolation without any enforcement but come to Nigeria they do the opposite.

Let's leave all these talks. The fact is that Nigeria was among the lucky countries that covid19 visited late. Before it came to Nigeria, it was already terrorizing Italy, US and other well developed countries because it caught them unawares.

How was Nigeria' s preparedness then when they knew that the virus is spreading. What is difficult in taking this current action earlier. This is when leadership is important. A leader should be proactive. A leader should select people who are competent. Almost all Buhari's appointees are square pegs in round holes.

During election time, everyone including people with low IQs would come out for president and governor and people would vote them in out of ethnic and religious sentiments.

Buhari had enough time to stop all movements in and out of the country. There was enough time for the government to acquire enough test kits early to test those who were arriving from abroad as early as January this year.

But they were busy with APC PDP politics. This lockdown would not have been necessary so far the airports were shut down early. Now due to lock down, businesses are going down, many would lose their jobs, the economy would further suffer. Due to hunger, it would be impossible to achieve anything with lock down. Some people survive from hand to mouth. If they don't work today, they would not have money to eat today. The government don't have money to share and curuption would not allow the little government can give to get to the hands of the poor.

And this is the government you people are defending.

Biko nu although am not a fan of APC, in the history of Nigeria which President would have handled corona virus better? Instead of contributing with good write-ups on how to better our situation, some persons find it fun criticising government efforts.
