Smh.

You're ignorant of the reality of the implications and I doubt if you attended secondary school. If you tell me that a subject is compulsory but not needed for my post-secondary school education, it's as good as useless as the p in psychology.

The relevance to admission is the most important. Students who want to pursue Mathematics/engineering-related courses in UNILAG must take Further Mathematics in secondary school yet Further Mathematics is not even compulsory for STEM in Nigeria.

The seriousness students give to Mathematics is because it is compulsory both in secondary school and for university students admission, it is not because it is compulsory in secondary schools.
Kapish?
Your rebuttal cancelled out your own point. No need to drag with you. Mathematics is not needed for Arts inclined students. Simple.

Beautiful Clarification,as some Lazy People thought Mathematics is not important again!
•Mathematics should enable us have holistic and dynamic flares to think and makes our pathways better, than just being holed up in one corner.
MATHS is and Must Be Compulsory For All Human Endeavors and reflex 🪞 Our ability to think DYNAMICALLY at all Times and For ALL Courses and for All Purposes!
Nigeria Cannot Be Different From The World 🌎!
You only read the headline. Didn't you?
Mathematics is NO LONGER COMPULSORY. That is still the bottom line of the clarification. Students must register but not necessarily to pass it. Isn't that a Greek gift rendering it of equal value like Economics or Civic?
The rest of the World? Which World? Earth or Mars? Show me any country where a prospective law students or Theatre Art students MUST pass Mathematics to study in their University.

Must someone pass all the 9 subjects registered? Wasn't Economics compulsory at a time but was it a Must to pass it then?
If people are to register only their core subject needed for the intended courses they want to study, I bet you people will not register more than 4 subjects just like Jamb.

Please, can you tell me why an Art inclined person MUST pass Mathematics?

Umahi is very wrong not Rufai, you can provide an average cost per kilometer in a project. are you saying you wont have a project cost before embarking on the project? please lets not be playing games with serious issues. just like when you ask a local workman, engineer for a cost break down quote they wont want to give because you likely benchmark them. if the minister share his figures it will be a good place to start the conversation. I bet when he leaves office he will just leave a total cost of the project and empty details of the break and cost which is suppose to be public documents, no opportunity for the next guy to continue and learn from their mistake, use as a benchmark or even audit the project
It has shown that you are not a civil/construction engineer.
There is a difference between breakdown and breakdown per kilometer.
All engineers in whatever construction can give you or will be able to give you the breakdown of cost and I remember Umahi telling Rufai that he can give him breakdown of cost so far. But RUFAI insisted on breakdown PER KILOMETER which no construction engineer of a COASTAL HIGHWAY will be able to provide that.
I repeat, NO CONTRACTOR OR ENGINEER CAN GIVE A PER KILOMETER BREAKDOWN COST OF A COASTAL HIGHWAY.

Yes. We voted them so we must trust them. If we want to hold them accountable we must ask REASONABLE questions. Reasonable Questions like: How many kilometers have you done so far and how much have you spent in all? If necessary we ask for breakdown that separates money spent on materials, labour, consultations etc.
Not UNREASONABLE Questions like: How much did you spend PER KILOMETER? That is a very very UNREASONABLE Question.

So I put it to you (in your Rufai Voice), which engineer in the world will give you a cost breakdown of a COASTAL HIGHWAY per kilometer?

That is a fact. Makinde either does not know what he is saying or throwing political jabs. How can you give a cost per kilometer of a coastal highway? Which engineer in the world can do that? Are the terrains the same. Will the construction on land be the same as the one on the water ways or will the same water ways have the same cost per kilometer?

Let me ask. Are you a civil engineer or contractor in related field?
A layman can do a calculation per kilometer after seeing the total cost but an expert will never do that.
When you are doing project of such magnitude, as a contractor or engineer, you are advised to visit the site and give your estimate. Not matter what your realistic estimate is, you are advised to increase it by at least 30% so you don't run at a loss after embarking on such project. Constructing a coast highway is different from constructing.a major road even if such kilometer.
Once again, you can't see or hear a professional engineer WORLDWIDE giving a breakdown of a COASTAL ROAD in Km, NEVER.
What a professional engineer would do is to give the total cost or total break down of expenses, NOT PER KM estimates. It is not done.
This is not even an argument. Whether it is Umahi or RUFAI or anyone else. NO CONTRACTOR OR ENGINEER GIVES A KM/KM ESTIMATES OF A COASTAL HIGHWAY because no two kilometers is the same on a coastal road.

The question Rufai should have asked was a breakdown of expenses so far which will cover all the cost summary. That is all an engineer on A COASTAL HIGHWAY can do. Ask real experts who have done coastal roads before around you.

A couple of years ago, roads were constructed with about 10 million naira per kilometer.

The amount presently being used in constructing road per kilometer has so skyrocketed that it is very difficult for anyone that knows to mention it and you won't even hear it from me too even as I am an Engineer.

The inflation currently in the country has cut across so many things and it will be very difficult to construct roads with this present amount as it is just too expensive to say the list.
We are in a dire situation.
People who do not understand engineering will be quoting figures per kilometer which is wrong. Road estimates are not made per km, it is only a quack or fraudulent engineering that will give you estimates per km. Land and terrains differ and a cost for a particular portion of a road WILL (not may) differ from another portion of the same road.
Now to a coastal highway, there is no where in the world where a contractor engineer will give you estimates of work on a COASTAL HIGHWAY in kilometer. How will you divide it? Will you use the same yardstick for portion on land as portion on the water or even on the same water, their depth and (I lost the word now) are not the same.
VERDICT:
RUFAI was wrong to ask the minister to give estimates per km. Who does that?

Christianity EtcRe: Can Christians Listen To Secular Music? by immaculatesense(m): 12:39pm On Sep 21, 2025
Psalmcomng:
Let’s be honest. Many Nigerian Christians sing along to secular songs daily.

From Afrobeats to hip hop, it is everywhere.

But here is the question: is it right for a Christian to be vibing to songs that glorify money, sex, pride, or violence?

Some people say music is just entertainment and has nothing to do with your faith. But is that true?

If music has no spiritual effect, then why did David use Psalms to drive away evil spirits from Saul? Clearly, music carries power.

Here are some hard questions to consider:

1. If a song promotes immorality, can you really claim it does not affect your spirit?

2. Why do many believers find it easier to memorize secular lyrics than Bible verses?

3. If Jesus sat beside you, would you still play those tracks on your playlist?

Yes, not every secular song is dirty. But let’s face it. Most of the trending ones do not glorify God.

They glorify self, lust, and greed.

A Christian who keeps feeding on such lyrics should not be surprised if their spiritual fire goes cold.

I broke down this issue with scriptures and practical tips in my full article here: https://www.psalm.com.ng/Nigerian-Christians-Listen-Secular-Music

What’s your take? Are Christians free to enjoy secular music, or is it a trap that slowly drags them away from God?
Let me ask you.
Show a Christian watch secular movies or only Christian movies. Since some Christians can narrate secular movies but can not narrate Christian stories.
Answer that first before I answer yours.

Lol who told you it's rent free? You will pay for it.

A tennant can decide to pack out at anytime. Some won't even inform the landlord. You'll just come one weekend and see that the house is empty and he has left your keys at the door .

If a tennant can decide he's no longer interested in staying in your house before and even after his rent is due, Why can't a landlord also tell you he doesn't want you again when your rent is due?

If you take the matter to court, the 6 months they'll give you is not for you to live rent free. It's simply for you to have more tike to get another place. You will pay for that 6 months but they won't tell the landlord this coz most of then don't even know.

PoliticsRe: FG Makes Tax Identification Mandatory For Banking, Allied Services by immaculatesense(m): 2:21pm On Sep 05, 2025
Hamachi:
While the government’s intention to strengthen tax compliance is understandable, making a Tax Identification Number (Tax ID) compulsory for basic financial services such as banking, insurance, and stock investments could end up punishing ordinary Nigerians more than it benefits the economy.

Millions of Nigerians are still outside the tax net, and many operate in the informal sector where income is unstable and poorly documented. Forcing them to obtain a Tax ID before they can open a bank account or access financial services could push people further away from the formal economy, defeating the very goal of broadening the tax base.

Instead of compulsion, government should first build trust and simplicity in the tax system. Nigerians already feel burdened by multiple taxes and levies, often without seeing the benefits in infrastructure, healthcare, or security. Until accountability and service delivery improve, making Tax IDs mandatory for financial inclusion may look less like reform and more like another barrier.

True progress will come from policies that encourage voluntary compliance, supported by technology, awareness, and incentives — not by shutting the door of the banking hall against those who are already struggling to survive.
Tell me ONE country in the Whole Wide World where all the taxable citizens pay tax voluntarily.
Just ONE Abeg, not TWO.
