The context was to be VP to Atiku since the statement was made during the fall out of the presidential primary. Wike: I am not interested in being Minister. The context was made when PDP was trying to prevail on him to support the party and he was being lobbied to be rewarded with Petroleum Minister. He said he is not interested (not he will NEVER BE) in being a minister. OBI: I will NEVER CONTEST ELECTION AGAIN. |

After he last out in the presidential primary of the PDP, some thought he would go to the Senate and even the person with the senatorial mandate from his district was ready to relinquish the ticket for him just like Akpabio and Umahi did but he rejected and said he won't go to the Senate. We Love Peter Obi with all our body and soul and will stand solidly by him forever.
We awaits 2027 and by Almighty allah and the support of good people of Nigeria, Obi will win.
God bless you sir Mr Peter Obi I won't go to Senate is different from I won't contest election AGAIN. You no know English again? WIKE: I won't go to Senate. OBI: I won't contest election Again. Speaking with reporters at Ochuche in Ogbaru local government area of Anambra State where his former commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Mr. Dubem Obaze received a chieftaincy title from all traditional rulers in Anambra North senatorial zone, Obi, however said he is prepared to serve Nigeria in any capacity.
Obi’s entry into the venue of the ceremony sent jubilation among the audience, with most politicians who graced the occasion swarming his sitting position to greet and have a handshake with him.

Abuja with better plan, better road network, smooth traffic, busier airport and most importantly, peaceful coexistence among the ethnic groups who dominate it ie Igbos, middle belt and South South guys etc Abuja is poised to overtake Lagos. The surprising thing is that it's not only happening faster than expected but it's happening in several ways at Lagos expense. This shows that investors are sensitive to the increasing volatility of Lagos in the past few years, as predicted. 1. Busier Airport? Shey na joke? 2. Dominated by Igbos? ALTERNATEID: The law came into force in 2018 and as a result, cannot have a retroactive effect on Goodluck Jonathan who was sworn in twice before the law was made. It is settled law that a new law cannot have a retroactive effect. Jonathan can still contest if he so wishes. He is not affected by that section. You people Sha. Where did u get ur education from? Okay, if a new law is passed today that a president and vice candidate can now serve three times instead of the current two. How many times more will Obasanjo and Atiku serve as Presido and VP (ONE or THREE?). So, if you say one (which I agree) why? Wasn't the law suppose to allow him restart and serve three times since according to you it is not retroactive. Why will d law still make reference to his past two terms and only allow him serve once? Think Bro. Think. |

aribisala0: It is not a law but a constitutional matter
Buhari's signature is irrelevant to constitutional changes What matters is that two thirds of the state Houses of Assembly assent
Whether he is eligible if the constitution has actually changed as above is really not down to your opinion which is what you expressed Others have different opinions Explaining the purpose in YOUR OPINION changes nothing. The scenario you described is patronising as if you are talking to children Every one knows how a woman becomes pregnant you don't need to explain
It came about because of Jonathan and had consensus in the National Assembly and it was intended to avoid such problems as arose with Jonathan. It was to come into effect immediately not retroactively and unless thar was specifically stated it cannot be assumed to apply to Jonathan
As with all things Nigerian if he tries to contest the courts will decide
I do not recall if. The state Houses of Assembly passed it Do you know what retroactive law means? Please go and read on it before u come and be using the lingua anyhow. Had he entered in 2015 and served his tenure and the maybe the law was passed today, the law cannot retract his second tenure or strip him of the benefits therein. That is was retroactive means in the contest if the matter in discourse. Not that he want to contest again in two years time and u are calling that retroactive. Do u think that everything that the Assembly pass and signed by the president requires the consent of two third of states? You still have a lot to read on laws. Read bro Read. |

brain54: I think the old system of monarchy practiced in these places plays a significant role...
Perhaps!
If you notice Africa and the countries you mentioned China and Russia had an older system where monarchy was the traditional form of government practiced. They have that in common though in different forms.
Democracy is a relatively newer form of government which originated from the west (Greece) Introduced and spread to these countries.
Many of these countries with origins of having a monarch just practice a hybrid of both democracy and monarchy. Or a democracy with many tenets or components of monarchy but just call it democracy.
I may be wrong though but it's just an observation or theory that may have some level of accuracy! Did Africa start with democracy? Didn't our forefathers practice Monarchical system for centuries before Democracy came. How are we different from them? Stop making excuses for them. If you want to blame, blame us all. Monarchical system of government works in the Middle East than Democracy. It would have worked here too if only the West did not impose their ways on us. |

helinues: That's manipulated constitution. Why was he allowed to contest in 2011? The laws was passed by the Senate in 2017 and was signed by Buhari on July 2018. So, as at 2015, he was still eligible because that section of the law was not there but as of now, he is no longer eligible. It is to ensure that no one serves more than 8years in office. Imagine if a president was sworn in last month and died after a month. If that portion is not there, it means the VP now Presido may serve for 12 years. That was why the bill was enacted after Buhari won the 2015 election. You can read more on it online. Thanks. |

Shattuck: it should be unity and not trust bridge, has the south south for example done any harm for it to build trust bridge with anyone, if we are to talk about trust bridge it is the others who should be proving it's trust, it is a case of political marginalization and undermining, the key I would say is southern unity but the south west seem to always never align with the rest of the south when it is not beneficial to it's selfish needs, the best is for the rest of the southern states to form it's own political alliance. Good luck. All the best in your new found political alliance. |
